LOSC: How Victor Osimhen became the new star of Ligue 1
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EDFUk8mXYAEnH1w.jpg

In just three weeks, he has already made a name for himself. Three games, four goals and an honorary status as top scorer in the league, for his discovery of Ligue 1, Victor Osimhen, did not do things by half. Landed early August in Loscafter only seven days of vacation, the Nigerian international will not take long to put the public stadium Pierre Mauroy in the pocket.

A double in the season opener against Nantes (2-1), another Wednesday night against Saint-Etienne (3-0) and that's how in just a few weeks, we become the new star of the French championship and we already recole the praises of his teammates. "I did not know him before. But he is a very good person and a very good professional. He's young. but he always wants to improve. I am very happy for him. He has already scored four goals, that's fine. It must continue with this mentality, "advises Jose Fonte, the Lille captain.

Nineteen goals last year with Charleroi
Spotted in Belgium where he has planted nineteen goals last season under Charleroi, the 20-year-old already validates the recruitment strategy of Luis Campos and his team of scouts. No time to cry the departure of Pepe (Arsenal) and Leao (AC Milan) as the transfer boss took out his hat a new crack. Enthusiastic Christophe Galtier who had however preferred Loïc Rémy at the kickoff against Saint-Etienne.

But the Lille striker's early injury allowed Osimhen to come into play after just fifteen minutes. "He came back without asking any questions, he did not make the appearance of being a substitute. He was decisive in goals but also in the game, in terms of intensity. He is only 20 years old but he has a significant margin of progress, "rejoices Lille coach.

Bought twelve million euros
Purchased twelve million euros Carolos, the player was not a stranger in the world of football. Revelation of the World U17 in 2015 won by Nigeria and where he had finished top scorer of the competition, Osimhen had caught the eye of many European clubs. It was finally in the German club Wolfsburg that he had set his bags in January 2017.

But barred in attack, he plays little and ends up being lent last year in Belgium. This is where he really explodes and seduces the Losc. In one month, Osimhen has all the good find of the transfer window. His only problem: staying too long at doping control. Controlled after the match, he did not come to speak. Fortunately, Victor Osimhen is not yet perfect at 20 years old.

SE HOPEFULS BEST XI (ROUND 3)

CENTER-FORWARD
Tammy Abraham now joins the legion of SE HOPEFULS as he expressed his openness to the possibility of representing Nigeria in an exclusive interview with ACL Sports recently. Coupled with his brace for Chelsea in the last EPL round, Tammy upstages David Okereke as the top center-forward so far this 19/20 season, considering he plays in the highest rated league (UEFA Coefficient Ranking for 2019 Season). Prior to his goals, Tammy has enjoyed lots of minutes under Chelsea's new handlers, and also has a Super Cup assist to his credit. On the other hand, Okereke has found it hard to put his name on the scoresheet lately, and has not been able to replicate his Jupiler league form in UEFA Champions league qualifiers, failing to score after 4 games. The battle continues for this sole forward spot though.

ADVANCE MIDFIELD
We have familiar faces here as Ebere Eze returns to the squad after missing out in our previous SE HOPEFULS post, whereas, Samuel Eduok drops off. Eze was named to the Championship Team of the Week by WhoScored with the HIGHEST rating (8.9) for a Championship Player. His immense contribution in QPR's 3-1 home win over Wigan earned him rave reviews in various media outlets. Eze has earned two MOTM mentions so far in this current season.
Abdul Ajagun remains unrivaled in the AM role despite failing to make a mark in Kortrijk's weekend loss. Ajagun's spot in the team is not guaranteed in future though, as other rival midfielders can still play as AMs.
Sheyi Ojo keeps his spot as an inverted winger although he has caused all sorts of problems to opposing defenders this season whenever he is found operating from his preferred LW/LM role. Seyi has 4 goals and made 3 assists in all competitions this season, but has Club Brugge's Dennis Bonaventure, who scored in UEFA Champions League qualification, following behind closely.

CENTER-MIDFIELD
Ovie Ejaria failed to get a consecutive spot in WhoScored's Championship Team of the Week, but continued to sparkle scoring for Reading in their 2-0 win at Huddersfield.

DEFENSIVE-MIDFIELD
Kingsley Michael made his long awaited Serie A bow for Bolgona over the weekend, lasting 77 minutes. Michael also started for Bologna 5 days prior to the Verona tie, as he was featured for 90 mins in their 3-0 away win over Serie B side, AC Pisa in Coppa Italia. These feats by the former Golden Eaglet midfielder ensures that he eclipses Anderson Esiti as the most impressive SE Hopeful Defensive Midfielder so far. Esiti, on his part, failed to inspire his Greek side, PAOK, as they lost away to a Slovakian opposition in Europa League 1st leg play off. Esiti has enjoyed more playing time this season though, playing a part in the back-to-back UEFA qualification bouts with Ajax and also clocking 90 minutes in the just started Greek Super League season. To reclaim a spot in the SE Hopefuls XI, the forgotten Eagle would need to be outstanding in the lowly Greek League and also try to help PAOK overturn the 1-0 deficit as they take on Slovan Bratislava in the Europa League play-off 2nd leg tomorrow. And of course, that is if Michael fails to get more playing time in the Italian top flight.

FULL BACKS
Felix Agu is still proving untouchable in the backline. I have moved him to the LB position, where he has also played in the Bundesliga II this season, while the less impressive Chima Okoroji takes the back seat this week. And this gives way for Kingsley Ehizibue in Right-Back. The Dutch-Nigerian has made a U-turn as he now fancies his chances with the Nigerian national team. Although Kingsley has suffered two losses in this Bundesliga season, he has enjoyed the maximum possible playing time, and is playing at the highest level compared to his SE hopefuls Full-Back contemporaries.

CENTER-BACK
Despite failing to feature for Chelsea in their 3-2 win at Norwich on Saturday, and only managing a cameo this season in Chelsea's Super Cup loss to Liverpool, Fikayo Tomori keeps his place by virtue of lack of competition. There isn't any deserving SE Hopeful center-back out there who has enjoyed more playing time than the former England junior international, except Ike Opara who's had a longer season in the MLS. And talking about Opara, he also keeps his spot as the second center-back in this week's XI.

GK
On August 24th, Austin Ejide returned to action in the Israeli first tier (Ligat Ha'Al). As captain, he helped Hapoel Hadera force a draw against visiting FC Ashdod.
Didn't you ask for it? grin ... I'll be curious to know if there is a more active SE Hopeful GK out there,

It only becomes an assist when a goal is scored. I’m speaking of the games I’ve watched and I’m specifically talking about that quality.
And this is not comparing him to other players. Because other players def has what he doesn’t

charlesemeka85:
Hahahahahahahaha esiti good at spraying passes? Oga u dey watch Ball at all? Esiti is just a low budget Wayama.

And with azubuike's spray and roll on passes how many assist does he have in his career since moving to Europe?

Azubuike has his own strengths and this is not the first time (video in question) I’ve seen him put in such performance.
Do we have players with that quality? I think Esiti is also pretty good with spraying long passes.

charlesemeka85:
Go find food chop abeg. Azubuike is a better passer than Iwobi? Chai Nigerians we don't value what we have. If azubuike is half as good as Iwobi let alone etebo he will be playing for one of the top 3 teams in Turkish football or at least get offers from better leagues.

As long as he is either deployed as a CM,DM or AM depending on how his coach set up the team’s play, I don’t see the substance in this argument. Unless we are arguing how Rohr will utilize him. Why don’t we wait and see?

charlesemeka85:
joe aribo is a cm in the mold of yaya toure and ex mali skipper keita who once played for barca. the lad is very physical and skillful which aids him to boss midfield duels with ease as he did last night against legia.

his pace and agility propels him to drive the ball forward from the midfield to initiate attacks.

he is primarily a cm but can be deployed deeper or more advanced

I’ve watched Odubajo’s clips before his devastating injury. He was pretty decent . But I doubt he’s regained his form
komekn:
When l compared both of them to Dominic Iorfa who was then playing for England and Wolves as a first team first choice player.

I was called bias and accused of being his agent over hyping him, he denied Nigeria.

These two German boys have done exactly what Tammy has done. But we still keep begging them.

In my opinion even Odubanjo who is now coming back to form after injury is better than them. Indeed IMO technically he is better than Iorfa. However, for the physicality of the English game, Aerial dominance and pace Iorfa has the advantage , in addition Iorfa is also CB.

But for the position of RB with Nigeria in consideration our technical style of play my view is that Odubanjo may have may have the advantage. But open to debate but he would be the best option seemingly.

Modified
Full name, Elohor Godswil Ekpolo.

And what influence did VicMo’s parent have I. His decision to play for Nigeria?

ChrisKels:
U call it a rival while I call it my personal observation d e to track records.

Check out from Osaze, Vicmo down to the very least.

Did u know Ekpolor openly declared for Nigeria even as the captain of the great La masia, Osede was a strong part of Real Madrid and Spain youth system when he stated how green his blood was, look at Ebuehi, look at Ehizibue. Before u start una usually infantile name calling, I am a staunch igbo through and through, buh I give to Edo parents in diaspora.

Why u dey bring tribe into the matter na? What has that got to do with Akpoguma?
ChrisKels:
I think he is a better player than Dumfries. And he didn't pledge his allegiance recently. He actually did after seeing the success of Ebuehi who happens to be a fellow Edo boy, and also share same agent with.

Like i once said, Edo boys easily get swayed to pick Nigeria ahead of their counties of birth unlike Igbo and Yoruba guys. How old is akpoguma yet he ain't giving up on his unfeasible German dreams.

Don't be surprised to see uduokhai make his eagles debut b4 December

I would like to see how Rangers fare against Celtic this season.

komekn:
I know people here like to dismiss the Scottish league. But it's been a spring board for players to jump to bigger and better things.

Dembele left Celtic now at Lyon the most at one time expensive defender Virgil left Celtic to the EPL.

But Ojo has been playing exceptionally well as well as Aribo.
