Collins will be back just in time
Clementoke:
Very good lineup.
Except that Collins was said to have been subtituted 15 minutes to the end of his club's match. I hope it isn't serious.

I want to see those wicked passes from Iwobi.

Just say you have not seen him play there.
Below is Beer Sheva’s formation in a Champions League qualifying match versus Dinamo:

Curtisaxel7:
Lol. John Ogu is no libero. He can't play there. If only we had Mikel.....

Danielnino00:
Don't be surprised if Agu starts ahead of Ogu ooo... Ogu's lack of pace might be a problem especially if Etebo goes forward too often.

But I believe Rohr might want to reward Ogu for his patience with a start.. grin ...The man rewards loyalty. .

You have raised two things here — not one. Firstly, why is there no need for a 3-5-2? Secondly, Ajayi could also start in lieu of Balogun. What does it really change?

Danielnino00:
Good lineup. .But there's really no need for a 3-5-2 IMO.. Balogun doesn't have to start cus he is match rusty.. Starting Omeruo and Ekong with him won't prevent him from performing poorly... it was evident against Libya.

Clementoke:
SAFA to lift Serero ban?

SAFA are looking at recalling Holland-based midfielder Thulani Serero for the AFCON qualifier with Nigeria next month.

SAFA banned Serero from playing for Bafana Bafana in February after he refused to report for national duty unless he was guaranteed game-time in Stuart Baxter's side for 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Senegal last year.

The Vitesse playmaker was benched in the previous three internationals, twice against Cape Verde and against Burkina Faso.

In a Dutch media report in November 2017, Serero was infamously quoted as saying: "The sofa in Arnhem is more comfortable than the South African bench.

"If the national team wants me, then I must play. As the situation is now I don't want to go."

But according to sources at SAFA, the national association are making efforts to patch things up with the former Ajax Amsterdam man.

"There has been contact. SAFA are keen to bring back Serero to Bafana Bafana," says a source.

"He could be included in the squad to be announced by Stuart Baxter for the game against Nigera."

Group E leaders Nigeria have already named their squad to face Bafana, which is notably without ex-Chelsea star John Obi Mikel.

The Super Eagles have nine points from four games - a point more than South Africa with two matches left.

Bafana will host the West Africans on November 17 before concluding their campaign with a trip to Libya (four points) on November 23.

The top two sides in each group will qualify for Cameroon 2019.

Kai will I ever catch up now? Just getting back on NL since we started the nomination thing. Thanks to all who nominated other monikers as well as myself. Please let’s not argue about the process. At the end of the day it’s just for fun. But frankly speaking you can easily tell how votings will go in future by the leanings of the monikers in the committee. But is that not how politics is played? Nobody is saying the system is supposed to be perfect. Let’s just have fun with this.

I’m humbled by your kind words sir. However, and honestly speaking, I wouldn’t even vote myself even if the rules allowed it. I’m inspired by monikers who can change positions without sentiments, and hardly ever throws punches at others directly or indirectly. They stick to the issues without being perceived as slighting anyone during arguments. This is the basis of my nominee choice.

The contention is that I used the word, start. In actual sense and based on the argument I have been making, there should be no comfortable spot for any player whether on the bench or in a starting role UNLESS the player justifies his spot consistently. This should have been instilled prior to the World Cup — that’s a team built with excellence as the watchword. Onazi didn’t deserve to go to the WC in the first place, going by his latest matches before the WC. I reiterate, I no blame am. Na Rohr I blame

Chelsea Goalkeeper Of Nigerian Descent Kelechi Gets England Call-Up
Published: October 30, 2018

Promising Chelsea goalkeeper Kelechi Chibueze is set to add to his international caps after he was invited to the England U16 squad by manager Kevin Betsy for the Val-de-Marne Tournament this week.

Chibueze was part of the Chelsea U16 squad that lost to Manchester City in the final of the Premier League International Tournament on October 21.

Born December 2003, he is eligible to turn out for Nigeria's youth teams through his father.

He was a non-playing substitute in the Young Lions opening match of the Val-de-Marne Tournament against hosts France on Tuesday afternoon.

England face Austria (November 1) and Japan (November 3) and Chibueze would be hoping he is picked ahead of Reading goalkeeper Coniah Boyce-Clarke in at least one of the games.

England U16s beat France 3-1 in their opener with Louie Barry (West Brom), Jude Bellingham (Birmingham), Charlie Patino (Arsenal) writing their names on the score-sheet.

Efe Ambrose Excited As Rohr List Him Among Super Eagles Options Ahead South Africa Tie
October 29, 201801251

Hibernian of Scotland defender Efe Ambrose says the recognition given to him by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr base on his performance for his club this season has encouraged him to keep his dream of representing Nigeria once again alive.

Ambrose has fallen out of favour since the Franco-German coach took over two years ago but the coach revealed last week that he is keeping tabs on the recently turned 30 years old, who has been ever present for Hibernian this season.

Although the coach expressed his satisfaction with the options available to him now in central defence, he however said he will consider the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner if any of his options fail to meet up with required standards in the future.

The statement which was contained in an interview granted by the coach last week has drawn a reaction from Ambrose, who thanked the manager for his recognition before saying he is focused on working hard to ease his return to the national team.

” To be honest, I didn’t see it coming even though I feel like I deserve a chance to stake a claim base on my form for Hibernian. I’m grateful and I won’t stop working hard to ease the decision of handing me a recall “, Ambrose told Owngoalnigeria.com.

ONLY Otigba has turned down the cajance to play for another senior team. I think many players will fancy their chances in the junior teams of the other country. Even Otigba played for Hungary’s junior teams prior to his call up in the senior team.

tbaba1234:
Otigba turned down an invite from Hungary to wait for Nigeria and we never invited him.

Ebere Eze and Ejaria have made it clear that Nigeria is their first choice. Ejaria came all the way from England to audition for under 17 and was part of the 2013 under17 team before Arsenal called him back. He would have gone to the WC with Iheanacho and co.

Semi Ajayi played under 20 for Nigeria. He did not wait to be called by England. He was at Arsenal at the time.

There are several players who will jump at the chance if we invite them.

Baxter faces midfield puzzle for Nigeria clash as injuries bite

South Africa have a mounting central midfield crisis ahead of their crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria in Johannesburg next month.

Bafana Bafana can book their place at the finals in Cameroon with a victory, while a draw would also be enough in the unlikely event that Libya are held by the Seychelles in Victoria in the other match in Group E.

The sight of Kamohelo Mokotjo limping out of Brentford's English Championship clash with Norwich City after just 30 minutes on Saturday with what looked a serious calf injury will no doubt be giving Bafana coach cold sweats.

It comes hot on the heels of the news that Dean Furman, another key cog in the defensive midfield role, will be out for the remainder of the year, to go with the long-term injury to Bongani Zungu that will likely only see him return in February.

The industrious Mokotjo is hugely important to both club and country, and his ability to shield the back four and excellent passing range, against a tough opposition and on what will be a slick surface in Soweto, would be sorely missed.

"Mokotjo's importance to Brentford should not be understated," English website football.london said.

"He is possibly the only member of the Bees' squad who provides such defensive stability in midfield and [coach Thomas] Frank has paid tribute to his away performances this year, highlighting his display against Leeds United."

That grit, quality and experience would be hugely missed against Nigeria, and potentially leave Baxter scratching around for alternatives.

Sibusiso Vilakazi played a similar, deeper role in the home 0-0 draw with Libya in September, but he too is out and unlikely to play again this season.

It means the only options available to Baxter would be inexperienced ones, with the exception of Mamelodi Sundowns stalwart Hlompho Kekana, who is not shaping up to be the key figure in the centre of the park against Nigeria.

Kekana is known for his long-range strikes and tough tackling, but he is also a natural leader who captain Sundowns to the 2016 CAF Champions League title.

He is the man that Baxter will build his central midfield around, and he at least understands the game-plans having been a non-playing member of the squad that faced Seychelles in back-to-back matches earlier this month.

But who will play around him is a big debate. Favourite among the contenders would be Lebogang Phiri, who also featured as a substitute in the 6-0 win over Seychelles and has been in good form for Guingamp in France's Ligue 1 this season.

But he remains an experienced campaigner at this level with only five caps, while Cape Town City midfielder Thabo Nodada, another strong contender, is uncapped.

Nodada received a first call-up against Seychelles and has continued that good form in recent matches for City, but it will be a big ask for him to come up against the quality and the experience of Nigeria.

Siphesihle Ndlovu, who was dropped for the Seychelles games after an indifferent start to the new season with Maritzburg United, could earn himself a recall, but he too only has five caps, all coming against modest opposition.

Tiyani Mabunda from Sundowns could be a good option to partner Kekana as they are clubmates, but he has not featured all that much for the Brazilians this season and won the last of his five caps against Zambia in June 2017.

Baxter has not had much luck with injuries of late - he lost in-form Montpellier winger Keagan Dolly for the Seychelles games and will not get him back until the New Year.

Red-hot striker Lebo Mothiba also missed the Libya game in September through injury, a match in which he could well have made a big difference.
