Who doesn’t know Okocha? Okocha is popular for how he stands out on the pitch not for the clubs he played. He was too magical not to be known. My nephews in London are 17 and 18, and they know him very well. These are boys who hardly come to Naija. Born and bred there
Nihilstjnr:
.

I think you're mistaking Eintracht Franfurt for another club. Okocha was actually relegated with them. Apart from 1992 when they came 3rd, they never challenged for any league title. Btw this was the time when only the league winners qualified for UCL, so a 3rd place finish wasnt as important as it is today.

Also when he was in france, PSG were also not the PSG of today. That was the era of Lyon winning 6 or 7 straight league titles, and PSG neither challenged for, nor won a pin when JayJay was there.

Infact JayJay was discharged by PSG for free...aged 28, after being signed for 14m...and in a world cup year no less. The only club willing to take a chance on him were a freshly promoted club to the EPL.

We may look back at history with rose tinted glasess today, but sir, that man did not have the career he could have.

I meant to say 2nd goal.
forgiveness:
None of the goalkeepers on the list will catch that ball. I repeat none.

More deserving? How so?
goldfish80:
Some of the players are good enough get caps with the main national team. More deserving than some of the overhyped hipster choice foreign born players always peddled around here, I must add.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:15pm On May 22, 2018
Haha he forgot that he wasn’t playing against the players going to the World Cup. The bad belle strong o..

TheSuperNerd:
Thomas Partey.... He was so damn annoying today! He even wanted to take out the "blokus" of Eduok with that rough kick of the ball to his perineal area.... So rough and heartless today, he was....

Honestly!!! At times I felt like doing this to partey!!! Roasting his ass with lightening strikes...
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:10pm On May 22, 2018
Lol calm down na..
Abi U want us to promote this team to team a? grin
goldfish80:
The team played like they have been put together for years while the A team played those friendlies like they were were quickly put together at the stadium car park a couple of hours before the game.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:08pm On May 22, 2018
I agree!

goldfish80:
Maybe it is just me but,Thomas Partey didnt play like a guy on on vacation. He played with as much intensity as I have seen him play in a champions league game,Corea as well.... Also Diego Simione's game face wasnt that of a disinterested fellow.

Yes it was an exhibition game but there wasnt a lack of desire and intensity like most commenters would like us to believe. The game wouldn't have been that enjoyable if those vital ingredients were absent in the match.

I blame him for the 3rd goal. But that was a beautiful match. I believe we still have some better players out there..
TheSuperNerd:
It is official... Our keeper is on a long thing... My goodness! What a strike but poor attempt from Femi to even have a go at stopping the ball... What kind of goalkeeping is this? I k ow he made a good one on one stop from Gameiro earlier in the half but indeed shaa... He has been shaky and has not been assured with shot stopping.

Nigeria B 2-3 ATM
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:59pm On May 22, 2018
Lol cool down.. I retract my earlier statement on Usman and Kelechi.

U can’t rate players based on the club or the leagues they play. Eduok who has 7 goals in the Turkish Super Lig was a flop.
TheSuperNerd:
Chaaaiiiiii... Kelechi. Nwakali's ball holding and quick feet are so so beautiful to watch. See how he recovered a loose ball with one turn and used skill moves to wriggle his way out of trouble.

He is a true baller...

Tosin Omoyele's industry up front is really good...

And what a brilliant super stupendous and magical goal of brains class and sweetness from Usman Mohammed!!!!

I am speechless... Is this Nigeria Team B?
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:56pm On May 22, 2018
I thought he was the injured LB that started.. I was dancing my baby to sleep while watching the 2nd half lol. Good one from Usman and the Nwakali brothers. I thought the two LBs did well.

Partey try well well.

Y u think say I copy u and komekn? This ur long story abeg.. make we enjoy match.

forgiveness:
If this is not mockery, how come you conspicuously left out Onyekuru, Sadiq, Dessers
and Samuel Kalu?

To perfect your act of debasement, you delibrately included Onomah and Iorfa who have not been cleared by FIFA, and even went ahead to decietfully smuggle Onomah on the list as a LW when the world knows he is a natural AMF. Adeleye wey never play more than 2 games for the past 3 years even dey list. Abassmbong!

Looking at the list,, your target is obvious else you would have included this thread favourites. Onyekuru, Samuel Kalu, Sadiq, Dessers, Ohis Felix Uduokhai, Akpoguma, Okoye and Nwakali.

Are these not the players that made a lot of noise here for?

However, I can categorically state that none of those players had the nod of majority those who are now mocking them behind then.

If we go by the fans favourites, this is how the Nigeria left at home IX should look like. grin

Your second point has been my suggestion. And who says we can’t list Shehu as a midfielder? Shehu is probably a better DM, and can give most of the other DMs a run for their money. But if he is not the preferred DM, he can give us a good option in the bench, and that’s if Rohr favors Ebuehi

TheSuperNerd:
The fact that 3-5-2 is gonna be one of our tactical formations at the mundial shows that we may indeed need four CBs and not three... And may also take 8 defenders and not 7, on the overall.

We cannot be playing three CBs at the same time in that formation without a spare on the bench. Now that is one point.

Second point is that each fullback/wingback role needs their cover. Unless you wanna go with three fullback options based on best versatility with one covering for two fullback/wingback starters? Will that be okay? It is likely but don't know if we should take the risk..

So in all this is part of why I strongly suggest we go with 8 defenders. 7 may be it eventually and it may still be good but I see Rohr taking 8 unless he shocks me there by going with 7 with a MF able to provide that 8th option in defence.

Time will tell.
