haha.. you have spoken correctly..

Mujtahida:
Leadership is not necessarily about building infrastructure. It's about uplifting the consciousness of your people, making them see themselves in a great light, birthing a resurgent dream in their hearts. As in the first responsibility of a good leader is to deliver the Word. That's why I hate all these our transmission transmitted leaders. Take away paper from their hands, come hear absolute rubbish wey go dey comot from their mouth. No word, no dream.

that's the line i've been toeing na..

One of my favorite quote by myself. "The problem with black people is that black people think there is a problem with black people". As contradictory as that quote may sound, I think it makes sense because we need to look at our history and lifestyle before the coming of the whites to really understand why we are the way we are as a people. I think history and psychology go together. My favorite professor was a Briton who made me really fall in love with History as a course. He challenged us to think and to analyze history and not just to read it as it was told. In fact our history class was like critical reasoning. We could tell the characteristics of a king for example and how that may have impacted his subjects.. it was filled with lots of logical assumptions. The same approach we need to have in studying our past, and maybe, just maybe we'd have a better insight instead of relying on the narratives of our conquerors.

Mujtahida:
I don't know why it's the aside from football yarns that I seem to enjoy. Maybe I'm trying to starve myself before the action begins.

Now make I chip in this small point into the discussion being had by the quartet of Joebie, safarigirl, omanbala1 and yourself: it's not about black men or black women. Looking at it this way we'd only trade blames and fight each other. It's the black race that needs healing.

@bolded that brings me to the perfect solution.. I had wanted to share here, it shouldn't be a secret.. That what i meant when I said "use them".. Pay white men (and I don't care their status in life) to come back to re-brainwash us.. pay them to start saying great things about us, pay them to say we are better and we would start believing.. pay them to come to our schools.. we will be empowered over a short time with a new mindset, and in no time, we would start doing great things never looking up to them.
That's the simple solution. We need our leaders to buy into this, than airing "change begins with me" jingles.

OMANBALA1:
I don screw one black(when I was single... grin grin) woman before just because I started a conversation with YOUR HAIR LOOK GLAMOROUS....And she was shocked and that was disturbing because her hair was so dark, tough and beautiful but she though I was kidding because she didnt even know her hair was beautiful because you rarely see a black woman with natural hair.

Do you also know the white people think black hair is beautiful ??

The last paragraph.. u spoke the truth.. when i complain about our mentality i'm speaking generally, not limiting it to the ladies. kai many Nigerian men still prefer light skinned women.. Warri go say shuo!!!.. why is light skinned women better? I'm not saying darker women are better either.. SAME PROBLEM. Hence, you are right.. if the most of us men go for women that celebrate black beauty in all regard, our ladies would rather opt to be truly beautiful.

safarigirl:
foreign hair get range and most girls cannot afford the range you are talking of. E no pass 3% of girls that can buy that range of foreign hair.

Maintaining natural hair is far more expensive than what 80% of ladies can afford

Abeg leave us with our foreign hair, na so una go dey bobo pesin for here about natural hair as if most Nigerian guys appreciate such. Anything girls do in this country, it's because of Nigerian men, to gain the approval of one man or the other. Y'all created the monsters you see today, so, enjoy them grin.

AIG07:
If no body does, I do appreciate it. Recently, I saw some random ladies, I whispered at them just to get their attention... I walked up to them to tell them how beautiful they are in their natural hair.(not the usual plaiting or afro thing). The surprise that came with my compliment confused me myself.

kai.. its not that serious na to cause heart attack.. let me not go on with this.. but I will come hard on the white ladies doing it, as much as the black ladies who are still going through those medical procedures to "boost" their looks..

enjoy your movie jare..

safarigirl:
is your wife in Nigeria permanently? Is her natural hair loose or is it in locks?

Of course, there are wealthy ladies who have been team natural for years, they fix at times as well. Is Adesua Etomi not in that league?

I am talking about my school because that is the small pool I am in, and it is not a private school, so many of them going natural no be because dem get bastard money

People are different, you cannot hold everyone to your standards, can you? And sincerely, nobody should be telling anyone how to best prove they are proud of their race or their colours, if not, let us kuku say that people who leave the shores of Africa are not proud of their race undecided

The white girls doing botox to have full lips, let us say, they are not proud of their features, same as the white people who tan their skin. They are no better than black bleachers.

My point is, a joke is just that, a joke. It should mean nothing to you, it should be viewed and forgotten. If you take everything to heart, you'll have a heart attack......I should remember this the next time I feel like explaining myself grin

Good night Joe smiley

BTW: I'm watching Samson, and for some ridiculous reason, the lead male and female are nowhere near the level of beauty those in the Bible are reputed to have had. Watching some ugly Samson and basic Delilah undecided. They should have gotten Jason Momoa to play Samson

Well the NPFL should be our baby. It's not the fault of the players really.

daveP:
Yeah. This pertains well to our footballing mentality.

Some are not good at club, but once in GWG, they just spark.

I for one rest on the opinion that local players that are plying trade abroad do learn one or two. Eager ones. But it's not enough, but they are learning still.

Musa has this stint of not too good club time, but is something else in the GWG no doubt.

I agree with the team levels. We have too much on our hands that we are bloated.

The thing is, the NPFL and the players therein better wake up fast. They are so snaily that scouts may not wanna look their way like before. They better wake up so that the NPFL would be producing Team B and C with eye catching performances.

well fine, the purpose was to promote the NPFL. You had 5 slots for foreign based players. Who would you have picked?
TheSuperNerd:
Uhmm... perspective. That game was to involve a better percentage of the home based lads... Salisu only had a couple of slots open for some from outside... and he made his choice. He cannot invite everyone at once.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:58pm On May 23, 2018
it's still the coach that has the final say as to who gets promoted from one grade to the other. of course we can't have 100% efficiency but we can start from somewhere to make it better. There are so many Nigerian footballers out there. we must find a way to at least screen through most of them.

TheSuperNerd:
I'm afraid you cannot standardize everything for absolutely 100% effectiveness when it comes to talents. Lol... this is why "hoping and praying" is part of it because like the bolded shows arguments can be made from various angles and depending on how strong the coach pushes his case for a player, you just can never tell sometimes.

A coach at any given point in time will come with his own attitude, Idiosyncrasies and more. How do you handle it also if a coach hates a player who is actually doing well enough and he makes the case that The player is not ready and lacks this or that... stuffs made up by the coach to keep the player down.

How do you handle that? sack the coach? lol... Mehn... Hope and pray is a parr of this as much as our efforts to give things a level of standard.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:52pm On May 23, 2018
I agree with your last sentence. But don't you agree with me that there were some home-based revelations yesterday? Players that probably won't have gotten their chance even in the next CHAN. Now there is hope for them.

tbaba1234:
I still feel we missed an opportunity to see talents. It would have been a great opportunity for us to see, Alampasu, Maduka Okoye (GK), Tosin Kehinde, Ebere Eze, .....Samuel Kalu & Olayinka are still playing games. Alampasu was in Nigeria, It would have been good to see if he is still decent. Femi Thomas did not inspire confidence.

Salisu did not make too many subs because we did not really have many quality substitutes.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:43pm On May 23, 2018
Oga no be hope and pray matter. This thing needs to be standardized and coaches need to make their case for any players they consider to be in that special talent class. I'm only looking at the long term benefit.. I think players would want to work their way up the ranks. It would promote excellence.

TheSuperNerd:
That is the key word in all you just said. Many here will still ride and die on that one term... "Special talent". Many here will not agree that some are special and many will also want to present players that they think and feel are special. To them, since no cogent/stand out criteria exists to define a special talent so anyone can be special... cheesy

Another wahala. lol

But I am in support of Classifying our teams into A (The main team), B and C. Forget D... A to C is okay.

In my very own personal database of our players scattered around the world which I update from time to time, I classify them.

Anyway, one thing we must understand is that for every era or generation we must be sensitive to the atmosphere of that particular era. Truth is we have a standard for invites to the Super Eagles... but it is just that there are exceptions to the rule and these exceptions are made certified by the coach in charge at any point. Not by us... but by the coach. We can only pray and hope that the coach, in making these decisions on who and who can bypass this standard rule, pick the right players with huge potentials for immense benefits to the team and not for his own selfish/personal vendetta to the detriment of the team.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:37pm On May 23, 2018
Exactly, and you rise through the grades based on your performance on national assignments. Guy, if you are not pulling weight in Team D, but u just started banging goals in your club, should you be promoted to team A automatically?

TheGoodJoe:
Fine input and I agree with most you say. Just to add, the different grades (B, C and D) can have different scouting and camping sessions to identify true potentials and give them room for exposure with the team.

I agree totally.

tbaba1234:
We are currently churning out better talents from academies than the NPFL.. There is a fundamental problem. The clubs should be the ones fishing out the best talents around and grooming them.

Our clubs need to be more professionally run. Government needs to leave club management to private firms.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:23pm On May 23, 2018
My friends.. Usman Muhammad has played only 1 minute this season in Europe. K.Nwakali had a meager run of games. However, these two players were one of the stand out players for SE Team B yesterday, in fact they scored the goals for Naija. Should we have a standard of giving players with potentials but less productivity, over players with better productivity at the club level then? Ezenwa is behind other keepers in the NPFL but he is ahead of his contemporaries in the national team. Is it good for our football in the long run?
The point is there has to be a standard. For me I think Nigeria needs a Team B, C, and D also, and it should be based purely on performance. Special talents should be allowed to train with the higher grade teams regardless.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:11pm On May 23, 2018
madam my wife today has been a TeamNatural for over four years. But my point is if ladies in naija have lots of money would they rather go TeamNatural, or would they buy the really expensive hairs? And there is a reason why I mentioned Afrohair wigs.. I know all about the problem of maintenance and all those stuff. Most of our ladies today that wear wigs, do they have AfroWigs on? You seem to be talking only about your school, and what is trendy. i'm only exploring the mindset, what we have done in the past, and what we would do all things being equal.

safarigirl:
those buying hairs are doing so because going natural is cheap.

For instance, a small amount of castor oil which is part of the necessary ingredients to keep natural hair healthy, sells for 3,500, I mean a tiny bottle. Hair of other races costs as cheap as 1k/pack. If you buy 2 packs and go to the saloon to fix it, you will spend 3k tops.

You still consider that everyone doesn't have the same hair texture. And wearing of wigs and weave-ons is part of the maintenance of natural hair, if you leave it undone for a long period as you are suggesting, you will not have hair on your head in a space of months

I cannot give you a percentage, because that will require a survey, but I have met girls who have either gone natural, or would like to, but can't, because their hair texture is complicated.

Afrowigs and other races wigs are not even reigning in my school, it is braided wig that the whole world is wearing.

Nigeria B 2-3 Atletico Madrid: What did we learn?
By Dami Ugbane, KweséESPN

A Nigeria B selection fell to a 3-2 defeat by Atletico Madrid in an exhibition match at the Godswill Akpabio international Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday, although the scoreline doesn't tell the full story of a fascinating fixture.

The team's impressive performance has largely overshadowed the loss, as the Eagles largely held their own against a team who were crowned Europa League champions earlier this month.

In this feature, KweséESPN run through the key talking points to emerge from Nigeria's memorable showing.

Nwakali brothers ran the show: Not since the pair of Kalu Uche and Ikechukwu Uche played and scored the goals which won Nigeria an international friendly against Zambia in November, 2011, have brothers lined-up together for the Super Eagles.
The seven-year wait was ended when the immensely talented duo of Chidiebere and Kelechi Nwakali started in midfield against Atletico. The pair certainly caught the eye with a superlative all-round performance.
Chidiebere, a renowned defensive all-rounder, began the game as the midfield anchor man, but displayed his versatility by ending up on the left side of attack. In a more advanced role, he troubled the opposition full-back with his impressive footwork, to the delight of supporters.

However, the younger Nwakali was perhaps Nigeria's standout player, displaying maturity beyond his years as he dictated the flow of the game and capped a brilliant performance with a breath-taking goal to beat the highly rated Jan Oblak.

The 19-year-old has clearly sent a bold message to the global audience, and having already discussed his desire to make an impact at Arsenal, it will be interesting to see if Unai Emery keeps him around next season.

Talent abounds in Nigeria: There was a bit of scepticism within the local media when it was revealed that a selection of home-based professionals, complemented by a handful of fringe overseas-based players, would represent Nigeria against a formidable Atletico Madrid team.

However, the selected players were unusually calm on the day, and appeared fearless in the face of Diego Simeone's side. Certainly, the pick of the NPFL didn't appear overawed by the challenge that awaited them.
The coaching crew must be commended for the cohesion displayed, and even though the team barely had enough time to train together, they did enough to remind the watching world of the talent that exists in the domestic top flight.

Concentration cost the team: A major downside to the commendable Super Eagles performance was an inability to effectively shut the door at the back.
Twice after taking the lead and rallying back, the hosts failed to sustain the momentum beyond six minutes, evidently losing concentration on at least two occasions.

The entire stadium had barely recovered from Nwakali's stunning opener, when Angel Correa capitalised on a virtually non-existent defence line to pull Atletico Madrid level two minutes later.
The same scenario repeated itself after Usman Mohammed's jaw-dropping equaliser.
The players appeared eager to push too high up the pitch to get the winner, and forgot to protect the goalkeeper, thereby presenting young forward Borja Garces with the chance to win the game for his side.

Mohammed turns overnight superstar: Nigeria has produced some wonderfully gifted players over the years, and Dream Team VI star Mohammed announced himself - perhaps - as the next in line following an outstanding display.
He relished the occasion, netted a fine goal, and demonstrated the kind of technical skill that reminded observers of Jay-Jay Okocha in his pomp.

His fine individual strike could be a springboard to greater things.

Ok let’s focus on ur Team Natural claim. What’s the proportion of girls going natural to those still buying hairs of other races? how about the proportion as regards those wearing Afrowigs to other-races looking wigs? No be the same Abuja I dey? Abi do I have to come to ur school first to know?

Jokes are jokes. But what makes a joke funny or not depends on the mentality of the people. Which is why something that is funny to us may not be funny to people of another country. However this one you made is peculiar to Nigerians. I’m questioning why. If you think deeper you will know. No be over-analyzing o. Let’s be true to ourselves

I could pick on it because it was an erroneous generalisation.

The rest of it is just someone overanalyzing and we can all do that when we want to.
