Success, once highly promising have been shooting himself on the foot. You can't blame it all on injuries. He should never have moved to England. bataderemi: Right? I hope he gets better. |

His performance stagnated months before he left Watford. At least he's managed to score some goals in China. Loogan: Ighalo "was" the best striker we HAD, when he was in watford! he has stagnated, with his profile he is supposed to be at his peak, he has had more than enough opportunities to prove his worth in the SE. It's obvious the coach is not satisfied because hold up play and gra gra will not win you matches goals do! He's our most experienced striker(at the very top level) but we cannot have the luxury to start an inconsistent striker based on past glory. His best performance was agains Cameroon, we need to see that more often! The match against Poland his positioning was damn poor, people be criticizing our midfielders for lack of creativity, without considering that ighalos positioning/movement matters a lot to create space and ultimately goals, (there is no magic he can't do more than his ability, If you don't find and create space to exploit consistently, you are not a top class player) I don't recall him winning any arieal duels during the friendlies. Love the guy but we have better. |

@ Michael2
” Talking about a 4-4-2 system, Rohr should involve Watford wing attacker Isaac Success playing from the left wing, Chelsea Victor Moses from the right wing while Iheanacho should play as the top striker of the team. This would be very potent attack line for the Eagles and would surely deliver against any team”, Siasia said.
” Playing Iwobi as Eagles playmaker alongside Ndidi with Success and Moses ahead of him will bring the best out of him. Alex can create lots of goals with his good vision and passes and he can score goals too. The only thing he is working on for now is his defensive ability which I believe other players in Eagles can help to cover up.
“Like I said Alex will excel as a play maker for the Super Eagles but he can still operate from both sides of the wing attack and forward too”, he added.

Today's best forwards roam. That keeps them unpredictable.. Football is more fluid than ever my brother.. while some coaches still like to have an orthodox nine, other coaches want versatile forwards.. Ronaldo was usually a 7, but today he can be listed as a center forward or at the wings at game time. It doesn't change anything. Just as he could sneak in to the middle he could also switch to the left wing or right depending on the run of play.. And that's the growth path Onyekuru for example hopes to take. When he masters this art he will be a handful in the nearest future. Watch all of Iwobi's goals and his best moves in SE colors. Why didn't the opposing DMF stop him? conversely why has he not been effective as a winger. Let me ask you for the third time. When have you seen Iwobi make a clever cross from the flanks or did a crafty cut in or dribble from the flanks? That clearly tells you he is not winger because those a special attributes of today's wingers.. Yes Iwobi makes those nice passes. But anyone can make a pass from anywhere.. But why does Wenger play him as a winger? Wenger has even played him as a CM. Why? I've answered this question many pages back. But let's hear from the horse's mouth: “He is not a typical winger and I think he can play in the No10 role,” Wenger said. “He turns the game forward, he passes the ball through the lines very well, he has a final ball in him. I think he has all in the locker to pass and give the final ball. Iwobi of course lacks the natural pace and acceleration of a winger and his instinct is to come inside, so I can see Arsene’s point. But Ozil is the first choice number 10, so unless he leaves, Iwobi is unlikely to be number one in that role for some time. What’s good is Iwobi can play in that wide playmaker role. Arsene plays with two wide players, but he seems to always want a winger that can come inside and influence creatively. I think he needs to develop that creativity to become more consistent if he is to become a reliable number 10, but he’s got all the tools to do that as he matures. Wenger continued: “What you want from him now is the finishing – that’s still a little part that is missing in his game. “He is too nervous at the moment when he has the possibility to finish.” Modified And that quote is from 2016 or so. I can categorically say in SE colors he seems to have done what Wenger wants him to do in ARsenal Mickael2: Let me give you another instance here. Ronaldo whilst playing as a 7 usually operates as a 9, some coaches ended up playing him as a 9 but he never performs as a 9, but when he is playing as a 7 he can operate very well through the middle.
There are other examples like this too but I believe you should get my point, he may be best suited as a winger drifting in unmarked, but when you are the AMF, the DMF is always on you and disrupts your flow, that is my point. Besides why try Iwobi there when we have good players we can invite there? Al Hassan has been clocking up minutes in Austria as an AMF, Aluko plays as a psuedo-AMF and probably if we look closer we will see other people. High time we play our players in their positions |

Siasia played Iwobi at the middle.. football is fluid and not rigid, which is why I can usually watch a game and say a certain player would be able to operate in another role. Iwobi has been seen performing well at the middle during game time than any other position on the field, which was why I asked you the question, have you seen Iwobi make a clever cut, a taken a wonderful cross, or dribbled his way through the flanks while on national duty? answer capital NO. Hence, he is not suited for the wings.. But have u seen him perform creatively from the middle (sprayed passes) and even scored breathtaking goals from that position? YES. That clearly means he is actually more comfortable operating from the middle. Mickael2: Just because he hasn't done that does not mean he will come into the middle and all of a sudden start doing all of them. At some point in 2011 or so, Alves said he was more comfortable playing as an attacker, Tito played him as a winger and well no need remembering that performance, so players opinions aren't exactly professional most times. At Arsenal he plays as a winger and he posts good performances there....sometimes at least |

Thank you! that's the salient point. safarigirl: Ighalo's goals to games ratio for us is woeful considering his position.
Maybe as a defender, he would be greatly appreciated, but his return is far too poor for a point man |

Ighalo contributes a lot in all round play. But hey if we can get a better scorer for Russia, why not? there are a few we can add to the 35 man list just to see what they can do.. it won't hurt anyone, except probably our future opponents. bengine: Ighalo is the best top 9 we have right now..too be honest I would rather have Ighalo has a forward than nacho because of his hold up play..I'm a nacho fan boy***
We play with skilful inverted forwards, you need a striker that can hold up play and bring them into the game..that's why I think Sodiq can be a back up to Ighalo, we should just let nacho be a SS OR AMF.. |

bad sarcasm.. it's not like Ighalo has been on fire anywhere on this earth.. Ighalo is good for Russia, but I think what the anti-Ighalo chant is sounding is that he is simply not good enough to start for us in Russia match after match going by his goals return. korlahwarleh: I'm very sure Poland will be looking for a better striker now, with that chance that lewandowski missed against common Uzoho. Lewandowski is just over hyped. He's not world cup material yet. |

Don't forget that PSG friendly too quickly. His improvement was seen in pre-season tbaba1234: Yes, the same sadiq of Roma..
He has improved loads...
He has given all the top teams in Holland defences (Feyenord and PSV) headache with his directness.. He makes his own chances by his willingness to take on defenders. Ighalo and Ogbeche do not do that.
Note, i did not say he is better than Ighalo but he will certainly give defenders more to worry about than Ighalo. He still needs to work on his finishing ability. |

They say ... "I believe he is going to make his mark. He is from Nigeria and we all support him and love him. He is the star we are looking for." Nwankwo Kanu, former Arsenal and Nigeria forward
"What I see in [Iwobi] is a creative player who has a high work-rate and a good team spirit. He can play on the flanks, he can play through the middle, he’s a very interesting player." Arsène Wenger, Arsenal manager
"He is versatile and that's a massive attribute because forwards don't normally have that 360 vision that you need in midfield." Mikel Arteta, Arsenal captain |

The difference. Manu's experience with Iheanacho is in the U17s. Sisia's experience with Iwobi was when he first started out in the Super Eagles. By the way, Iwobi says he is most comfortable playing there.. and we've seen that he is more deadly in SE colors playing from the middle and not the wings. Have u ever seen Iwobi dribble for pull out a beautiful cross from the flanks, or done a tricky cut in for that matter?.. come to think of it. Mickael2: top top fan of Siasia but Manu also said Iheanacho is better suited as an AMF, well practically he has performed better as a striker or at least a SS than an AMF. its best we play them where their foreign coaches are playing them |
