We have Iwobi and Mikel.. but if Rohr looks Alukos way, good for him.. but he'll have Iwobi to battle with. How about that? Modified Competition is always a good thing.. maybe when Mikel retires.. Aluko will not be too old for Qatar Mickael2: I never said he is Iniesta, just pointing out that scoring goals isn't exactly everything for a midfielder. Even if he is having an average season by his standards, I am sure having him in the team is better than not having any AMF in the team which is the current situation |

I liked the Argentina subs not because we eventually won, but because we learned a lot about the players after 90 minutes.. in fact if I were coach, before the start of the match I would say "most of you just have 45 mins to prove yourselves" Mujtahida: That's why I kept hammering that the body is not a machine and drawing them to their own experiences of recovering from illness or injury but they say once he's been declared fit then he must have been 100% fit. Declarations are sometimes not actualities. Seen it many times when man is guilty but declared innocent and vice versa.
Yes Rohr has the habit of being hesitant in making substitutions. I was shocked that over the two friendlies we made very poor substitutions in terms of timing. |

That's just it Mujtahida: It's the extreme judgments that surprises me. He's not getting in on your sarcasm. From the same mouth you'd hear how wonderful the SE are, how they score goals, how solid the defence is, how sharp the attack. Then with a defeat the same person does a 360 and begins to condemn the team in extreme terms. Leaves me scratching my head.
Watch out tomorrow now if the SE plays just one match well you will hear all sort of praises. That's why I often emphasis the need for balance. Criticize but don't forget that this team has a history, a history some here have fully participated in. For one person here nothing the team does is good enough. I don't read him no more. But what surprises me is the fans here doing a yoyo in their views. |

It's not like Ikeme was a spectacular keeper when he was hale and hearty. Ikeme on his good day is above average -- not taking anything away from him. elyte89: D cancer won't make him a rookie,he would b only match rusty, just few practice matches in training coupled with 2/3 consecutive games,he would be 50percent OK,and once he's 50percent OK,he would b better Dan uzoho ,even if d latter doesn't sleep at all,all he does his training |

I think if we looked at the team's performance overtime, we would be able to come up with sound logical observations.. Else we'd be moving from one extreme judgement to the other as a result of varying match outcomes. Super Eagles have become a very bad team all of a sudden.. okay! Humility017: to be honest....rohr really need to make some drastic changes...it doesn't matter whose ass is goared....
I don't mind having onazi sit on the bench...if that will help us to create more chances upfront....
we really need to learn how to score goals.... |

The point you brought on Ebuehi. I was surprised nobody brought that point.. There is also a psychological side just coming from an injury.. I didn't want to join in on that argument.. on the whole Aina should have been brought in earlier. In fact before the friendly a few of us posited here that we needed to make lots of substitutions early enough.. Rohr didn't do that. bengine: Hey guys I just watched that nigeria vs serbia game again with clear head and no tension, I know Joel Obi didn't play that well but I think he has something to offer the team. He wasn't has bad as we are all making it sound like, yes he misplaced some passes but he seem to have a dynamism to his play that Onazi, Ogu, and Agu doesn't have..his set piece wasn't too bad, a few more practise with the team and a better understanding might unfold.
Before you all crucify me, go on facebook type green eagles hq, Search Nigeria Football highlights and Watch the games again with a clear head, no tension involved. All of nigeria games in the last one year is on that facebook page..for those that think Echiejile has anything to offer the team, you need to go watch most of our wcq games and you would see for yourself how much he has depreciated. If you think he is still good, tell us what he would offer the team or anything he truly excels at!! I no wan hear he has experience, mikel has experience and that experience does something for the national team we all can see..
Regarding Ebuehi, he tends to shy away from physical battles but he is more technical and reads the play well..him and ekong was just to soft regarding that second goal when that guy dribbled both of them and they didn't foul him. I would give Ebuehi benefit of doubt because I'm still playing actively and I know when you are recovering from groin injuries, you are scared of stretching your legs because of fear of the groin..you need a couple of games that would truly give you confidence its gone..
You could pass fit for a game but a lil snap tackle or stretch could make u feel a little pain there..this would stop you from commiting 100% in tackles..I'm talking from experience regarding this injury, I played for my city, for my university and I constantly struggled with it...Groin injury = minimum of 6weeks to recover and trust me you are not at 100% after 6weeks...I doubt he has had this injury for 3weeks.. Note: you could have a mild groin and still play the game but fear would be all over you.. |

What Nigeria needs now is a striker like Aghahowa.. He scores goals whether he is assisted or not.. haha How about we beg him to call off his retirement? AIG07: Odion Jude Ighalo. Gernot Rohr's first choice Striker.
Can anyone remind me of the national teams Jude has scored against excluding Cameroon and Luxembourg?
The memories of him scoring in the GWG were: an header against Cameroon in an international friendly match in 2015 and a well placed goal after shaking of another cameronian in a WCQ match played in 2017.
If I'm to go by his stats in the GWG, I don't expect him to be our messiah in Russia.
Looking at the bench for a capable replacement for him leaves one dejected. As there is no one to call on when things don't go as planned. We might just be towing the same path of Keshi's 2014 world cup team. How? We took a less inform and goal drought experiencing Emmanuel Emenike to the World Cup as our main point man, backing him with another toothless striker in Shola Ameobi and expecting both players to perform a miracle by doing the impossible. Alas, we all knew how it all ended.
Emenike and Ighalo seems to be the same kind of players. They're flash in the pan and inconsistent. Enough of these: he brings more to the team than scoring goals, enough of all these 'hold up plays', pressing ability etc... The first and main role of a 9 or striker is to put the ball into the net. All other things a striker brings are just additional.
Finally, if we must do well, we need two potent point, Clinical and unforgiving Strikers who can atleast convert 1 out of every 3 chances created. |

@bolded. That goal definitely shows the attributes needed to prove you are a great winger or DM. I guess Onazi, Moses and Musa would be scared now realpoacher: After watching this Aluko goal... I will join others in shouting Sone Aluko! .. Sone Aluko!!...SONE ALUKO!!!
We certainly need a player of this caliber to drive attack. He will bench S. Moses, Musa, and Onazi.
Just imagine Moses from the right, Iwobi from AM, Sone Aluko from the left, and Mikel obi from CM. We will be deadly.
3 things Rohr is presently doing wrong:
1. Playing Iwobi on the wings instead from the middle
2. Being too conservative
3. Not emphasising on ball possession |

guys guys..
It's okay to criticize Rohr. But on the whole Rohr has brought far more positives than negatives to our darling national team. While I must admit that the criticisms of Rohr fielding Ebuehi for 90 minutes and not giving Aina enough time (as a Right-Back option as well) are logical, I think some of us are becoming over emotional because of the loss. All of a sudden Rohr has become the worst thing that has happened to our football. Let's give the coach a break. He learned after the South Africa loss. He will learn a couple lessons again from the friendlies. He wanted to win, and at the same time test different formations and players. In friendlies, coaches must find a good balance between playing to win and playing to test. Over the two friendlies, in my estimation, Rohr didn't do this well enough. |

I'd rather be on my knees and beg Enyeama to come back than go for Ejide. But what Enyeama can give at this stage will just be experience. overall, based on current form, he won't be that excellent keeper we are still looking for at this point. Dele won't be excellent either.. the truth is we are just looking for the better devil. Humility017: both goal keepers are not needed.... ejide is like akpeyi always scared and shaking in goal...I still remember the goals he gift away to the Scottish in one of our friendlies prior the 2014 world cup...in engalnd...
uzoho will do better than that..... please I will even prefer we manage Dele...but ejide is a no no for me.... |

this no be English lecture oh.. a "punny" expression must precede "no pun intended". it is used to draw attention to the pun used, either for humor sake or to prevent confusion. A common example used in my secondary school days: "seven days without water makes one weak". Can you see the humor in that? What's the humor? Seven days makes one week. Where is the confusion? The statement actually means going without water for seven days will make you WEAK. So when Mujtahida tells somehow , he is somehow, that's a pun considering that somehow is also his moniker.. it's actually funny, and saying no pun intended is to draw attention to the joke/pun. In actual sense it is better used in spoken english. in written english, it would be better to just rephrase the statement, unless the intention of course is to draw the reader's attention to the pun for humor sake. The bottom line, in the absence of pun, you cannot use the expression, "no pun intended". eterisan: you getting it confused bro.. Pun means a joke when used as a noun.... So if one say pun intended means I'm joking.... Check ur dictionary........ What's the use of flair if you can pass your way to the net |
