I had said I would break it down. What you should have done was ask me questions as regards the area you are not clear. because this your response is actually a scatter gun approach. I never said we should go scouting them in their schools. And in having a system there should already be a structured league. Have I said anything contrary to that. We have a system were if I as you or safarigirl to name the top 5 Nigerian under 17 talents playing domestically, we simply cant. But we always do is wait for validation from oyibos. fourfourtwo is currently compiling a list of top 100 teens, and I have already counted Tomori, and Ejaria in that list. We can't do the same here because were are not even organized in the home front. yet someone is saying we have talents in Nigeria. If I ask you to fish them out won't you grow gray hairs. Now, back to the system I was proposing, I had said in their "early teens" (as regards those in diaspora). How do we do that? so what you do is ask what i meant before you shoot down the idea. Let me ask you. Do we have a diaspora bill? The last time I heard it was passing through reading in the senate or whatever. Will it see the light of day? My friend through our embassies abroad, there should be a special unit. There should be arrangement on ground so that parents of these kids can tap into it early. The laws should be there. The process should be there. And the information should be readily available. I have more to say. But I'm waiting for you to do the right thing. Which is ask before you start shooting your machine gun. goldfish80: How feasible are these solution of yours? From what I've read so far, you're proffering a scatter gun approach not a well structured plan. How do you identify a really good player? Is it when such an individual is playing in his father's garage? You can only identify a good player if he's playing organised football!
What is organised football? Organised football is a league structured football.
Now, the exceptional players have already started playing for their adopted countries before they sign their first professional contracts.
I ask, do you want the Nff go hunting in London high schools to scout for Nigerians who have soccer potentials? This is the only way you can beat their adopted countries from getting them first.
This is not a solution. I haven't heard about any country in the world whose standard practice is to scout for players with this begging approach. Are we that desperate? Are these guys worth all the headache? How many championships have they won for their adopted countries?
Scouting for talents abroad is not the solution to the problem of Nigerian football. Brazil have the highest number of players playing for other countries, yet they still manage to be a force in football and always make the world cup finals.
For every Diego Costa or Thiago Motta they have tens of worthy replacements. This is the position I would like Nigeria to attain, not going cap in hands to beg small boys to come play for us. |

In absence of Victor Moses, others will get the chance to shine as Nigeria cap off their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with an away match to Algeria.
Having already qualified for next years showpiece, this weekend's clash is a mere formality with their trip to the North African country to be followed by a friendly game against Argentina in Russia as they step up their World Cup preparations.
The Super Eagles, though, will be without Chelsea utility player Victor Moses for the two upcoming matches. The 26-year-old has been out of action for three weeks, since suffering a hamstring injury against Crystal Palace mid October.
Blues boss Antonio Conte last week said that he would not rush a return for Moses, with many noticing his impact since being forced to the sidelines.
With no Moses, Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr has an opportunity to look at other players with the World Cup eight months away.
The likes of Alex Iwobi has already staked his claim, but Ahmed Musa and Henry Onyekuru are among those who will be eager make an impact in an attempt to pen down a starting spot.

Exclusive – Mikel Pulls Out Of Eagles Clash Against Algeria, Argentina Due To Injury November 8, 2017010
Super Eagles and Bursaspor of Turkey midfielder Mikel Agu has pulled out of the Nigeria squad ahead of upcoming games against Algeria and Argentina on the 10th and 14th of this month respectively.
Agu was an injury doubt going into the game due to the knock he sustained in his club’s last league game against Kasimpasa that lead to his substitution.
He trained normally with the team yesterday, but failed to make today’s morning session after the doctors advised the midfielder to seek proper medical care.
Unconfirmed report has it that he has already left the camp of the team to his base in Turkey, where he will receive proper medical treatment for the knee injury.

The Nigerian players that progressed through the junior ranks will always have an edge over these players that are probably not even monitored. Same problem. We need a standardized system for finding talents even in the domestic front. With our way of doing things, we will always get it wrong. We are not setting the right foundation for our coaches to succeed, yet we set crazy targets for them. It's called stupidity, when you keep doing things the same way and expect a different result. komekn: I find it hard to believe the NFF has not decided to give Dominic Iorfa a formalised invitation. Considering his young age but considerable experience in the championship. Where he won MOTM on his debut as a teenager and young player of the month 2014/15. When Omeruo was playing for Middlesbrough fc without being outstanding in the same season.
Is Omeruo better than Iorfa Or indeed for that matter is Shehu. I have asked if Shehu is better than Aina as well. Because it's seemingly accepted he us the best RB but in comparison to who |

yes what we have here is #TeamProForeign, #TeamHomegrown, and #TeamPerformance. I belong to the latter. If you identify a NIGERIAN that is really good, then make the "approach". But how do you approach? We need to take a long term approach towards solving everything for that matter in Nigeria. I've given my suggestion as regards approaching those players in diaspora, else we will miss out on some special players in future. The Omidiji example should never be a standard. We should stop being lazy. If we must fix things domestically, we would still need working systems. And you don't find working systems overnight. Modified And #TeamAntiForeign, who are the team version of racists, tribalists etc goldfish80: I like the Omidji example you pointed out. I hope you realise the boys parents were always edging him close to Nigeria. He traveled sometime ago to meet some Super Eagles players. If his parents didn't take steps to channel his thoughts towards Nigeria, trust me, the Nff wouldn't have heard about him let alone sending birthday wishes to him.
Sometimes you just have to show interest. If you're good enough, you will get invited.
Also, we must one thing very clearly. Because you're born in Europe doesn't automatically make you better than everyone else. This was how the Swiss born Ukoh was capped severally because na oyibo. Recall Semi Ajayi made John obuhs U20s? I laughed so hard. I mean, if the boy went into an arse kicking content against a one legged man, he will loose! Thats how incompetent the lad is, yet he took up squad space just because he was born in London and trained with Arsenal U23s.
We must be careful. Being born in Europe is not some Holy grail or passport to success.
Poaching foreign born players shouldn't be standard practice for a country like ours, especially in football. |

lol. follow the argument. Nobody talked about Nigeria being the powerhouse of African football. And if you really want to digress, I can also take you on. Modified No point making reference to Buhari's defenders. The problem we have here is many of us are having misplaced priorities. Let me give you an analogy, with a real life story for that matter. A certain father got really angry with his daughter for the decisions she was making in her personal life. In fact they had a fight, and he denied her and said she was no longer his daughter. The man now almost 80, although has 7 other children, is dying to have a relationship with this particular child. Still no headway till this moment. This certain daughter is very responsible, married with 2 kids. What am I trying to say? I hope someone learns something from that. safarigirl: Chief of Defense Tammy Abraham.
Wehdone sir. Keep up with the defense, it's turning out to be twice as difficult as what Buhari's defenders have to do
And calling Nigeria a football powerhouse in Africa is stating facts, not self deceit. Or, can you name five footballing nations on this continent without us? |

The right lesson to learn from this is what I'm highlighting. This is why people don't learn. And if you don't learn, you don't grow. The boy has the right to say whatever he wants. Freedom of speech. but if you are going to castigate others for what one boy says, to what end?. Eventually, it's not like we are going to benefit. There is no guarantee we are going to get things right at the home front in the near future. That is if we get it right in the next 20 years. It's the Nigerian culture, to do things yagayaga and expect praises. Is that not one of the primary reasons why we don't grow as a country? I think it's stupid to wail about what a 19 year old boy feels or says. Identifying the real problem is wisdom. If he says we tried to roll a carpet on him then that's what it is. I'm still waiting for the NFF to refute that. safarigirl: the real problem is that foolish children think it's cool to rub sand in the face of adults.
Joebie, see ehn, sometimes, it is better to say nothing than to say everything. Tammy apparently doesn't know that, you must not answer every question. There ate some you should deflect fron
You are her defending Tammy and accusing one imaginary system for the utterances of Tammy, but like goldfish said, what this boy has done will ruin the chances of many others especially English-bred kids.
You see that complaint Komekn makes that things are tough? They will be tougher henceforth. That is what we should reflect on, even those who have declared may not get a look in anymore.
It is that bad |

When did we start sleeping, and for how long? The problem is we don't have a working system. It shows in the way we handle almost all our affairs. That's the real problem. goldfish80: I didn't know the interview was already posted on the thread.
By the way, Nigeria is the gaint of Africa. Maybe sleeping giant but still a gaint, no deception in that.
Tammy by his actions have made it even more difficult for the Nff to approach some of the diaspora born players. The Pinick regime cannot have eggs thrown at their faces like this again, hence there must be a certain level of commitment from the players themselves before being contacted by the FA abinitio. |

Newcastle, Valencia, Benfica, Sevilla & PSV Watch Ex-Flying Eagles Skipper Ex-Flying Eagles skipper Abdul Ajagun will be hoping that he did enough to impress scouts of top European teams that watched him action last weekend against Mechelen.
Scouts in Attendance is reporting that scouts representing Newcastle United, Valencia, Benfica and Sevilla ran the rule over the top talents on both teams, including Burkinabé wonderkid Hassane Bandé, who tallied his ninth goal in eleven games against Ajagun's team.
PSV Eindhoven Director of Football Marcel Brands was also among the 12,553 spectators at AFAS-stadion Achter de Kazerne (Mechelen), and monitored Ajagun for 61 minutes before he subbed out.
The former Dolphins star has been one of the most important players for Kortrijk since his arrival as a free agent in the summer, starting all their fourteen matches in the Belgian First Division so far.
Kortrijk are struggling in the league but Ajagun's career is back on track after ending his association with Panathinaikos.
The attacking midfielder is contracted to Kortrijk until June 30, 2019.

lol Dude had a choice and he made his choice. He was saying things simply as it was, until the NFF/Pinnick comes out to say the did not actually "roll out the carpet" on him. Nigeria giant of Africa? Why do we like to deceive ourselves?? If his mind was set on England. So be it. Next time we (Pinnick) need to be smart about our approach and what we say to the media. calling a spade a spade. Modified I posted this same story yesterday. Paste the entire statement from Tammy goldfish80: Tammy Abraham: 'I turned down Nigeria in hope of England call'
Swansea City loanee Tammy Abraham has admitted that he turned down Nigeria in order to pursue an international career with England . The Chelsea striker, who is currently on loan at the Liberty Stadium, recently earned his first call-up to the England squad under Gareth Southgate and has since admitted that he rejected overtures from his parents' country of birth in hope of representing the Three Lions at senior level. "They [Nigeria] did try to roll out the red carpet and it was flattering but I was pretty set on England," said Abraham, according to the Express . "I see myself as being a long-term England player. That is where my main focus is and I am 100 per cent focused on trying to get into that team." Abraham could potentially feature for England over the next week, as Southgate's men take on both Germany and Brazil in friendly preparations for next year's World Cup in Russia. https://amp.sportsmole.co.uk/football/nigeria/news/abraham-i-turned-down-nigeria_311297.html

I’ve come to stay in the Super Eagles, says Chidiebere NwakaliBy Abidoye Babatunde - November 7, 2017 49 0 https://aoifootball.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/IMG_0135.jpgNewly invited Super Eagles’ midfielder Chidiebere Chijioke Nwakali, has said he’s determined to continue to strive harder to ensure he receives further call-ups to the team. The on-loan Manchester City of England midfielder, who spoke exclusively with AOIFootball.com in Rabat after the team’s first training session, said he was excited about the amazing opportunity and hopes it won’t be the last for him. “First and foremost, I must give thanks to God Almighty for this wonderful opportunity and also to the Super Eagles’ Coach Gernot Rohr. “The aim of every youngster is to play for his National team and mine is no exception; the chance given to me by the coaches shows how much I must continue to strive hard to try to remain with the Super Eagles. I know it will be very difficult, but I believe I am up to the task,” Nwakali said. The 20-year-old Sogndal of Norway player also praised the mood in the Super Eagles’ camp, while admitting that it was very easy for him to settle with the team despite been a first-timer. “I must admit the atmosphere is electrifying and all the players are ready to deliver come Friday and we promise not to disappoint Nigerians. “Settling down was very easy for me, because I know some players at youth level, but generally all players have been friendly to me and we are all ready for the games against Algeria and Argentina,” Nwakali concluded. The midfielder will be hoping he earns his first senior cap on Friday night in Constantine. --AOIfootball |

Sir, I will break it down further later when I have more time in my hands. And Mujtahida is right, building relationship goes side by side with it. Engagement is important. And that does not mean begging. with the system, we will not have to approach players we already know are not interested, because we have already played our part as regards engaging them and carrying them along. With the system, we won't need to get the NfF involved in trying to talk to players. Coaches will just key into the system and identify players that are available, and will simply invite. Drama free. TheGoodJoe: The relation is to build rapport. That was your term. My problem has always been with those that do not feel Nigerian. Alaba feels Nigerian.
That is why I agreed with Joebie to establish a database and a means of identifying those that want to play for us. Not begging and convincing them to play for us.

Sir we can all sign the petition and forward to the NFF somehow if there is a channel. I don't care, all our names can be on it. I'm not claiming ownership. Mujtahida: I just wanted to know the reason why they choose to play for Greece over Nigeria. I am not blaming Nigeria. I am only saying it would be great if we adopted a more forward approach and that to adopt a strategy of saying they must declare first for us before we invite them is being unrealistic if we chose that as our ONLY strategy.
And do you know that I mentioned Atetokuonmpo just as a background to the main point I wanted to make namely that they are parents with kids all over the world looking for ways through which their kids can represent Nigeria and I feel that engagement and contact with them can solve that problem. Are you happy with what we are doing with fifteen year old Omadiji? He's just fifteen years old, NFF sends him happy birthday wishes. Do they do that to every kid? No! But we appreciate what they are doing. They are saying we care, we want to be part of your world. That's not begging. That's engagement, that's building relationship.
We cannot pursue every kid. Let's pursue the talented ones early and even at that we will lose some, and win some. We have played and lost many football matches, important ones too but we've not stopped playing football altogether. So for all those who we approached and they declined, we possibly have those we approached and they accepted. So I am vehemently against the adoption of one strategy. Joebie has written a fine piece that expresses my full sentiments on this issue. I endorse it and adopt it as mine(with his kind permission) |

''Yesterday, I got an invitation from the first team squad of Hungary for the first time. They play against Greece in European qualification; I was called up,'' Kenneth Otigba said to SL10.ng.
''But I just spoke to the trainer, Dárdai Pal, ten minutes ago, and I told him if I listen to my heart, then I'll wait until Nigeria calls me.
''I am rejecting it because my biggest dream is to play for the Super Eagles, so I'll wait for that, maybe one day.''
The former Liverpool and Norwich City target has nothing but praise for Nigeria's national team, calling the Super Eagles the most dominant team in Africa.
''I would be so happy to play for Nigeria. I love the team because I look up to the players.
''I think they are the best team in Africa, and everyone knows the history about Nigerian football.

I fear oh. Abi did they reach out to the Greece Basketball Association first before they were considered? Even nations that steal our talents they have a system of doing that. They put laws in place. They put measures in place. And they make the information available. Mujtahida: You've still not told why they chose Greece over Nigeria. Were they approached and they declined? It's the reason for their decision I want to understand. |

Were prior contacts made on Ejaria, Alaba, Balogun etc when they declared for Nigeria? Putting his international furure on the line? You mean when Hungary game calling? Explain. Sir, Two things because I don't like derivative arguments. I take one discussion at a time. So let us get this clear. One, I had stressed that MOST of these players will choose the other country over Nigeria. So there is no point we arguing about Otigba's true reasons, as I never said it's NEVER about patriotism. I also said earlier that patriotism is overplayed here. When I say patriotism is an illusion, I'm not saying it's impossible for one to be patriotic. Get the context. I'm saying the way we think of that word as regards these player's making their choices is illusionary. MOST (once again) times, the decisions they make are like professional decisions. How do I know this? By carefully studying their statements before and after, I've realized that they considered the other nation as well, but the opportunity was not open to them AT THE TIME THEY MADE THEIR DECISION to choose Nigeria. Hence, we are a second option. Consider the latest on Tammy. They were asking him if there a was decision to be made (trying to know what's going on from the Nigeria side) or if he was or is still considering Nigeria. Read all his answers paying attention word for word. tbaba1234: Otigba declared for Nigeria with zero guarantee of ever playing or even being invited.. No contact from NFF, nothing... That is like putting your international future on the line with no guarantees..
No player does that with career in mind especially as Nigeria is not necessarily a better career move. |
