Personally, the only game I've seen Muhammad play for SE was against Tanzania, and he didn't look like he was making his debut one bit. Musa's case is a case of signing for the wrong club I think. Now he is an obscure league. I wonder why our players don't go to France anymore. The French league is strong, and you get to develop better. Icon4s: Firstly, the Aina case is the gradual process I am talking about. But hope his switch in Nationality would effected before our game in June?
Then to Musa mohammed and Shehu.
I believe u watched Nigeria vs Tanzania where Musa played that RB for 90mins. How was his performace?
You saw Shehu in the Egypt double header plus Olympics. What is ur assessment of his performance.
My only issue with Musa is inexperience added to the fact that he does not play in a competitive league.
I personally dnt have any issues with Shehu playing that RB. I dnt actually know what transpired in camp prio to Zambia game for him to field Ndidi in that position. Shehu was my pick for that RB before we saw d line up. |

It's never by force Sir Southgate. NFF no force them..They will feel more proud to represent Nigeria. English national team will always be an underachiever TheSuperNerd: Nigerian Players With Dual Nationality Aina, Akpom, Ejaria Will Not Be Forced To Represent England
https://allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/37682Akpom.jpg
England coach Gareth Southgate has insisted that he won’t force players who have dual nationality to represent the Three Lions, stating that they should be honoured to wear the England jersey without persuasion.
In the last few days, the Nigeria Football Federation have held talks with Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom, Chelsea defender Ola Aina, Sunderland’s Josh Maja and QPR starlet Eze over committing their international future to the Super Eagles, while the progress of Ovie Ejaria at Liverpool is being monitored.
And it appears the leadership of the Federation was successful in the approach, with Akpom, Aina and Eze training with the national team in London this week.
“In the end I have to focus on players who are desperate to play for England. I’m not aware those sorts of players are wanting to play for England or not really..., ” Southgate said.
“I didn’t get capped until I was 25 and I had no interest in playing for anyone else. I’m English and proud to be English and I think part of your identity as a national team has to be pride in the shirt.
“So for me the commitment has to come from the player.” Everton’s Ross Barkley and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli were eligible to play for the Super Eagles before they became cap-tied to England.

Nice list! Icon4s: Wow!
I love this thread!
From this list I would sieve out the following players: 1. Ibrahim Alhassan aka Muazam 2. Ifeanyi Ifeanyi 3. and Etor Daniel
We have seem them and know what they are capable of. Good players but not much expected from them.
4. Obinna Nwobodo we have seen and also believe would be a national asset if he keeps working hard.
The younger ones are where my interest would fall on now. Who ever the next coach of the Flying Eagles would be, these boys deserve a look-in:
5. Nazifi Yahaya: In my opinion next big thing since after Victor Osimhen. He was the leading striker in the ill-fated 2017 U17 team. He jst came back from South Africa where he scored 4 goals in an invitational tourney.
6. Stephen Odey: Hot MFM striker. Already in the CHAN Eagles team. Though not eligible for the next U20 but would still be eligible for the next U23. He should give players like Victor Osimhen, and Orji Okonkwo a run for their money.
7. Elijah Akanni: Never seen him play but my eyes would be on him hence-forth.
8. Otun Fawaz: Seen him a couple of times with the 3SC team. Quite good and comfortable on the ball. Blessed with great skills. I would recommend this guy to the 2019 Flying Eagles coach.
9. Adebayo Waheed: MFM is known for parading youngsters in their squad and this is one of them. Our U20 handlers should be hanging around the MFM team.
10. Alhassan Ibrahim: A younger Alhassan Ibrahim. Never seen him play. But for him to have made the Kano Pillars squad even as a 17yrs old it means he is highly talented. Another player for the next U20 handlers to have a look-in.

So I guess the idea is that they just popped in without notice and they were welcomed to the fold. I doubt the media is on top of everything. Dedebanky85: I'm actually thinking it should be more coordinated. Do Chelsea or QPR know their players are in the SE camp? I'm looking at the 2 weeks rule here. I have nothing against the foreign born players, I even support thein invite as I feel they better fortify our team. But I hardly want to join FB vs HB eagles arguments as I feel any body with Naija blood living anywhere should be given a fair chance to stake a claim as long as they measure up to standards when invited. |

I think the argument between home based vs foreign born is not necessary as long as they identify as Nigerians. Or do some of us just have something against those who were not born and bred in Nigeria. Abi na dem tell their papa where to born them? If Rohr prefers those born abroad and who have developed in a superior football system, let it be so. As long as we are getting results. We have many opportunities to show case our home based players, to see who is really good in the home front. I'm not saying Rohr should not invite home based, i'm saying as long as we are progressing let's not distract him. |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 5:50pm On Mar 27, 2017 |
on your last paragraph. Is there anything wrong with players strolling in, especially as we are looking to win players of dual origins ahead of our competition? Would you rather have our home based fly in, or make quick invitations that can hardly be honored? This is a unique circumstances, we don't always have to compare ourselves to the likes of US, Germany etc in all things to say we are not doing things right, as if they are always right or always have to be the standard. I think it is the right thing to do on our part, as the likes of Bazee, Eze etc will feel more Nigerian after socializing with the main SE boys, and should they be in top form tomorrow and we want to win them over, we will not hear excuses like "I don't feel Nigerian enough" lol Dedebanky85: I normally watch a game without national bias for the 2nd and 3rd times. The 1st I can be frantic and be bias. My takings ob the game are as follows:
That was one hell of a boring game on Naija's part. Even the commentator could attest to the countless inaccurate passes and crosses. If CMR catches this team, they would lambast this SE. I used to clamor for the absence of Mikel, but I think I'm beginning to have a rethink. The people's choice - Iwobi - has decided to take his SM career more serious than his footy career. For the past 2 months, Iwobi has been repeatedly playing rubbish. He should be reminded of one certain Emma Frimpong. Can't tell where that guy plays these days. I fear for Iwobi. Infact Iwobi shouldn't start against CMR, that's how widowed I am.
Iheanacho still showed his brilliant movements, but as @Forgiveness said, he was match rusty. The 6 yards miss was what Iheanacho feeds on on a regular day. I'm of the opinion he should get the hell outta Man City to save his career.
The defence can't really pass out, especially Ekong and Omeruo. In fact Troost, although a good defender, "em de select leg". Omeruo always has to float the ball rather than pick out a player with a pass. Overall, the game was not really inspiring till the last 8mins of each half.
I don't know if it's just the commentary plus video settings, but when I watched other friendlies, ours just looked like uncoordinated game of "CHOOSING".
On another note, I like the fact that Rohr called up the foreign born guys in the UK, but can SE be more respected whereby you just don't stroll into the camp at will. If Germany was to play in Weasley, would non-capped players in England just come to the German camp just to felicitate? I follow these guys on Snap and other SM, the amount of faces I see in mufty, is alarming. We can be more coordinated than what I'm seeing. |

That's a good idea.. Great way to test our domestic players without complicated logistics. Also NPFL All Stars vs African Based + uncapped Nigerians abroad. BascoVanVeli: I was talking about our league, at least half the clubs have a foriegn player on their roster. The most common are from Benin but we also have Ghana, Togo, DR Congo, Ivory Coast and even Brasil. A few of them even play for their national teams. |

How many matches do we have before Cameroon? South Africa -- a fast and tactical side. We would need to control the game especially in the midfield to excel. tbaba1234: It is too early to worry about Cameroon, we have games against South Africa first.. Cameroon is not that much stronger than Senegal and we coped well without our strongest team. The only goal scored was off a goalkeeping error |

It's high time we started looking at the match ups versus Cameroon. E.g Vincent Abubakar is a bully striker who can create a chance out of nothing. I think we need to worry about our defense. We will need something near world class to ensure we come out unscathed after the double header. Can our 4 man defense withstand the pressure. The second half against Senegal makes me worry. I'm not talking about the end of the game. |

The ball was pretty fast.. but a clever forward would deflect it in. It takes some pretty good reflex though. forgiveness: That was no clear cut chance because the ball was played to his hand and not the feet.

I agree with many of your judgements. Reason why we should not make judgements just off online reports. However, I think Success would have done more if he had more time. Ndidi stood out! Ogu, to me is not a starting material -- yet. I think we actually felt Onazi's departure. And indeed, we did miss Mikel in this game. Iheanacho scored our own goal, but who could have easily been named along the flops if not for that penalty -- owing to the chances he missed. Our entire defense line need more competition. Can we have Mikel Agu now tested? forgiveness: Hehehehe! I don watch the match and I can give a sane judgment.
Michael2 can you now understand the problem of the team after watching the match and listening to the commentator?
I told you there was no harmony and cohesion due to the inability of the players to spring a simple pass.
You said John Ogu brought stability but how come the Senegalese overran the midfield in the second half?
Let me drop my observations.
This team is not ready to play Cameroon with the way they played.
From the defense to the attack na wark.
Let me start with the the keeper, he is not qualified to be a member of the Super Eagles. Very poor in positioning himself during set pieces though possess sharp reflexes.
Leon Balogun lacks fitness and confidence. We need to start thinking of a better replacement in case he doesn't improve.
Troost Ekong got talent but in this game, he was below average. Very guilty of giving away the ball when pressed.
Rohr needs to school these defenders on how to soak pressure and control the game from the back.
Omeruo fumbled as a right back. He should be left alone to manage the defense or DMF.
Echiejile needs a good deputy.
We should be looking out for a equally good or better replacement for Ndidi because he will become the target of vultures in a very important match. I remember what Italy and France did to us. We should not allow that repeat itself again.
The boy is obviously very very good. That's why I want Shehu Abdullahi out of the team. We don't need players that can't add value to the team.
Raheem Lawal should be drafted in place of him.
John Ogu is good for the team.
Onazi is a leader and equally good for the team.
Alex Iwobi shouldn't be giving automatic shirt, he is not taking his career seriously.
How can we be relying on such inconsistent player?
He needs someone to challenge his position to make em head correct.
Iheanacho is not a striker, he is SS but from what I am seeing, Manchester City has destroyed his ability to give a through pass. Now, he is even missing tap in. Geees! He needs to move out from that club else.....
Simon Moses will play under Rohr because he played many roles in the match. He can play as a midfielder, winger and SS. And contributed alot to the defense.
Ahmed Musa.... I just don't know what to say about him.
Isaac Success didn't really impressed me as many people exaggerated here but he is needed for such kind of game.
Etebo na fine player. He is good for a CMF.
Kayode was played out of position. He didn't miss any chance as speculated. I didn't notice him until he gave Iheanacho the pass that led to the penalty. |

Old tradition. The coaches, refs, players and die hard home supporters expect their team to win at all cost. Your moniker is very appropriate. Sharp thinker SharpJoe: I think we should be Objective in this matter. So should Collin Udoh. Rohr is not into the Nigerian syndrome of Monkey working and Baboon eating. It is as simple as that. Rohr has done his assessment and he does not see Musa a key member of the team. He wants his captain on the field. Not on the bench. Musa will not play regularly for his team and so Rohr will not leave him with the captain band.
I wonder what is wrong in that. |

Fine I agree the way Rohr went about it based on the report, is not the best way to strip him Musa of captainship. We are not going to have aperfect coach ever. If there is anything we want perfection, let it be in results. Mickael2: Then look for a better excuse. I know Musa will lose his place but telling him he lost his captainship because of lack of playing time is not fair to him. There were other excuses, like you are not old enough, or some coaches just like Midfielders and defenders as their captains, something that makes sense except that bench warming part. Sorry I said you said nonsense, but it just isn't fair to Musa |

Exactly BascoVanVeli: Musa should hold his head up, he did the right thing by giving up the band. Now he can be free to be himself. U don't have to be a captain to be a leader, Rooney and Iniesta come in late in matches sometimes and don't even look for their band, what is most important is their team winning. Even as a child I would have rather scored the winning goal than be the captain lifting the cup, abi after he lift am me i no go snap my own picture? lol. |
