I don't know what prior posts you are talking about.. but that's still your opinion. I'm sure others have agreed with me where you may have dissagreed. So we all are entitled to our opinions.. Feel free to ignore my posts next time if you have an issue with them.. Whenever I'm wrong I've admitted. Did you take the time to read that digital edition I've been referring to. Yes I am not Odey's parent. But if his parents started him early in school in Ajegunle, fine. He revealed that after graduating from secondary school, he played for a couple amateur teams. And after a botched deal, he had another chance before he signed for MFM and has played there 3 seasons. Based on my math i'm estimating he is above 19. we can keep arguing here till tomorrow. I care less if you disagree. Thanks! BascoVanVeli: |
Thanks my brother! Ex-Golden Eagles keeper. Played second fiddle to Ambrose Vinzekin If not for the Keeper crises he would hardly have been called up. But this may just be his time to shine. Orkpekyandega: |
sure I do. Like i said read the digital copy of Complete Football. I have stressed that from the onset. Stephen Odey is on there exclusively. you are actually making a baseless comparison. I dislike when people just want to argue. Or better yet you can just ignore my reply if you can't be civil BascoVanVeli: |
Read carefully before you respond. my brother read Complete Football's digital edition I know you just like to type BascoVanVeli: |
The NPFL suck!!!! |
Stephen Odey cannot be 19 if he has been with MFM for 3 years. Read Complete Football's digital edition. I'm estimating he is at least 21 years. Unless he finished secondary school at 16. |
MFM is currently leading Rivers United 2-1 Two penalty goals from Odey. lol |
"He just introduced himself as Tope" Hahahahahaha Orkpekyandega: |
yes he was. And and he trained in camp. did not make Manu's cut. I just googled this..But I remember when he was dropped http://www.kickoff.com/news/42014/flying-eagles-coach-manu-garba-invites-35-to-camp Icon4s: |
very well said. But let's not forget that Etebo could not make the cut in Manu Garba's U20 but made Dream TEam VI.. Siasia always believed in him. while with Warri Wolves he was not necessarily generally seen as one of the best in the league.. Many players on people's lips didn't live up to the hype.. I believe there are rare gems in the league.. But the coach has to know when they see it, even when others don't. Let's be patient with Rohr. Let's leave these coaches. Coaches know what they are looking for in a player, especially as regards to their playing philosophy.. so far I'm impressed with Rohr. He will definitely look inwards as long he is attending league matches, who are we to say he is intentionally ignoring NPFL players? Let me recho what you just said, "For every Etebo, there are several more who did not live up to the hype." Very well said my brother. tbaba1234: |
The result will not be different from those coaches who have tried the same approach. Icon79: |
On the same basis -- potential -- barring injuries. Mind you he has trained under the watch of Rohr before. What you do in training does not go unnoticed. komekn: |
my brother if you be coach you no go fit manage players oh..That's the Nigerian factor. I think a player has the right to choose whether to honor a call or not to. In your place you have to discipline him responsibly. there are more reasonable penalties than banning. in my opinion whatever match they choose to show up, you let him fight back real hard for his shirt from the bench. Nawa! this home based matter!! ----------------------------------------------------- After Super Eagles handler, Gernot Rohr announced his 25-man squad to prosecute match friendlies involving Senegal and Burkina Faso, there have been grumblings and outcries amongst some ex-Super Eagles players as well as some quarters of the NFF regarding Rohr’s decision to completely ignore domestic league players in his list, save for a few. The said decision has made various football pundits to be of the opinion that the coach may have been compromised in his selection decisions. All of a sudden, news about Rohr’s contractual extension conditions with the NFF made it to some dailies signalling that a faction of the glass house may already be looking forward to the German tactician’s failure. Working in a football environment full of diverse sentiments may not be a familiar terrain of the German, but I suppose he must have done his homework as to how challenging the top job in Nigeria can be. Many managers have failed to succeed here in the past especially because they could not play the required politics in Nigerian football management, or cope with persistent interference from their employers. Gernot Rohr, on his part, instantly became the bride of Nigerian football, restoring the hope of a footballing nation that have failed in recent times to qualify for literally all recent international competitions – age grade or not. He gained this recognition after he shot Nigeria to the top of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying group, relegating African powerhouses Cameroon and Algeria to second and third places respectively. Even though the Nigeria senior team did not have the chance to further gel when they missed out of the AFCON in Gabon, the March friendlies put together by the NFF presented Rohr with a chance to get the boys back together after a long break, and possibly test new players for future reinforcement. A look at Rohr’s 25-man squad selection reveal a dominance of players who were part of the World Cup qualifiers. Even the few unfamiliar names, have long been rumored to be considered for the friendlies. With this in view, there have been lots of bickering as to why Rohr ignored promising talents in the NPFL. In my opinion, I believe it would be prudent to leave him alone so he can do the work for which he’s being paid. There is no doubt that he has got it right so far without our domestic players, so why the distraction? Several debates about this issue have been made in various forums, even in the popular Nigerian forum, Nairaland. Hence, I will state five reasons why Rohr is on the right track, and therefore should not be distracted in our latest bid to cheer up Nigeria at the world stage: http://spotkik.com/2017/03/16/march-friendlies-players-selection-why-rohr-must-not-be-distracted/ |
Interesting ideology. So what does marriage have to do with his career? that's his personal life. Being rich at 60 before deciding to get married is a personal choice not necessarily the smartest idea. ChrisKels: |
yes that can be confusing, as we all rely on what we see online (or please let me know if otherwise).. This is where I got my opinion: http://www.transfermarkt.com/musa-yahaya/profil/spieler/295367 Season Date Moving from Moving to MV Transfer fee 16/17 Jun 30, 2017 FC Porto B Portugal Porto B Portimonense 50 Th. The last I heard of him, he is in FC Porto's senior set up. Too good for Porto B I believe he is a Portimonense player. But on loan to Porto. AllforJesus7: |
#SuperEagles Radar: GOALS HARVEST. Omeruo Score Own Goal. Umar, Kayode, Akpala, Kalu, Solomon Score. Simon, Onazi Assist. Ebuehi and Ekong Cautioned. Balogun Return. KicKed by Bryan Efe SPOTKIK TEAM OF THE WEEK (MAR ’17 WEEK 2) Late Super Eagles call up Olarenwaju Kayode (Our Player of the Week) retain his place in our team of the week after scoring for the second consecutive round. Gent’s trio of Samuel Kalu, Moses Simon and Troost-Ekong (displaces Oboabona) made our team of the week for the prominent role they played in the trashing of Mechelen. Kalu thereby retain his place from last week. Premier League players a missing due to FA Cup fixtures. Hence, Fegor Ogude takes Ndidi’s place for his all match action against Russian powerhouse Zenit. Teammate Brian Idowu retain his place as the Nigeria’s best left-back at the moment. Ebuehi also keep his place in left-back. Otigba displaces Omeruo, who scored an own goal during the weekend. Retired Victor Enyeama remains our best option between the sticks. We adopt Gernot Rohr’s favorite formation, the 4-2-3-1, in our pick. AUSTRIA (ROUND 25) Austria Vienna 3-0 AC Wolfsberger Austria Vienna has put six unanswered goals past their opponents in the last two rounds. Super Eagles new invitee, Olarenwaju Kayode, who only got his first invitation to Nigeria’s senior national team as a replacement for injured teen, Victor Osihmen, scored his second consecutive goal in two league games to put a nail in the coffins of visitiors Wolfsberger. The Nigerian only representative in the Austrian top tier has now scored nine goals so far in the 2016/17 season. BELGIUM (ROUND 30) Eupen 1-3 Waregem Kingsley Madu remained in his familiar dugout position for Waregem as they conquered the Nigerian trio of Henry Onyekuru, Jamabo George, and Anthony Bassey at Kehrwegstadion (Eupen). However, instead of Madu, it was relatively unknown 19 year-old Aliko Bala who suited again for the visitors in the dot of 90 minutes. In the side of Eupen, Onyekuru started but was uncharacteristically unimpressive in front of the home fans and was pulled off in the 77th minute. Jamabo started and lasted the distance, whereas, Bassey was not suited up by Eupen. Gent 3-0 K.V. Mechelen K.A.A Gent put their loss to fellow Jupiler league team, Genk at the Europa Cup by recording a resounding victory over visiting Mechelen. Nigerians locked horns again in this encounter. While Ighodaro Osaguona‘s cameo for the visitors proved futile, Gent’s parade of all five Nigerians in their roaster paid off immensely. All their Nigerian imports started and completed the match, except Rabiu Ibrahim who joined the fray in the 76th minute. Samuel Kalu on his part, has instantly become Gent’s rave of the moment as he scored for the second consecutive time for Eupen. This time it was fellow Nigerian international, Moses Simon who provided a nice assist. Kalu has now scored three goals for Gent since joining them from Trencin of Slovakia. However, it was Japanese, Yuya Kubo, who stole the headline taking the ball from the center of the field all the way as he tricked his way through a crowed of five defenders in a Messi-like fashion to slot away Gent’s second. Anderson Esiti and William Troost-Ekong were the other Nigerians who were in action mode throughout the encounter. Troost-Ekong was cautioned in the 31’st minute. http://spotkik.com/2017/03/14/supereagles-radar-goals-harvest-omeruo-score-own-goal-umar-kayode-akpala-kalu-solomon-score-simon-onazi-assist-ebuehi-and-ekong-cautioned-balogun-return/ |
nonsense reporting.. why the undue pressure when the coach is well on course? terzurum5: |
nonsense talk terzurum5: |
what has been the fate of the aforementioned quartet? Agreed they have succeeded in going abroad and they will be more helpful to their families back in Nigeria. But let's stick to the context here. TheGoodJoe: |
I wasn't denying it either. Mikel wasn't always at the CB if I saw correctly. That Tedan team suck by the way. tbaba1234: |
Exactly my reasoning. Kog45: |
That's only tactical. In reality, besides the Goal Keeper, players usually play more than one roles. I believe Mikel has played as a CB in the past for Chelsea. tbaba1234: |
No he played as a defensive midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Ideye played as the sole striker. tbaba1234: |
We need a complete number 9.. meaning 1. can take on any defender. 2. can convert from slightest chances (poacher). 3. can score from difficult positions (can create goals out of nothing) At the moment I don't see any Nigerian player that can consistently do the above. For now I think we can make do of a poacher, until we find that Ideal striker. Let me add that I see great potential in Success/Iheanacho partnership. Watch U17 Nigeria vs Mexico group game Success can muscle defenders and can create chances with ease... Iheanacho can finish Kog45: |
Kayode scored last weekend. Don't also forget his UEFA Cup goals. http://spotkik.com/2017/03/08/supereagles-radar-iheanacho-returns-adi-score-brace-kayode-sly-igbonu-score-kalu-success-fire-assists-omeruo-etebo-and-ebuehi-cautioned/ terzurum5: |
My take is this. Some players are exceptional and it doesn't matter if they play at home or abroad. We cannot follow a general trend as regards how home based players do not eventually meet up to group all home based players as not ready to play for Nigeria until they prove themselves in Europe. I like what Rohr is doing. All the coach needs to do is watch NPFL games. A coach will know a star when he sees one irrespective of where the player plays. I think the solution to our defense problem is in the domestic league. Because many of our domestic defenders have not been going to Europe over the years compared to their counterparts in the other departments of play. The likes of Oboabona provided a short term solution. At least that's good enough to help us qualify for the world cup. |
#SuperEagles Radar: Iheanacho Returns. Adi Score Brace. Kayode, Sly Igbonu Score. Kalu, Success fire Assists. Omeruo, Etebo and Ebuehi Cautioned. SPOTKIK TEAM OF THE WEEK (MAR ’17 WEEK 1) As the MLS League starts, we bring to you a summary of the American top tier 22nd season as well as we start to present performances from the Greek Super League. Here is our team of the week based on the best performances put up by Nigerians all across Europe and America. Our player of the week goes to Fenando Adi for his involvement in all goals scored by Portland Timbers against MLS new entrants, Minesota United. We adopt Gernot Rohr’s favorite formation, the 4-2-3-1, in our pick. AUSTRIA (ROUND 24) Reid 0-3 Austria Vienna Austria Vienna maintained their great away record, winning on the road to Reid, with Olarenwaju Kayode scoring their second goal in the 44th minute. The goal was Kayode’s eight this season. Austria Vienna has a better away record compared to their home record going by their last 5 home and away games. Vienna has won 4 out of their last 5 away games, but have only secured two home wins out of their last five, to put them within the European qualification zone with their third position in the Tipoco Bundesliga league ranking. http://spotkik.com/2017/03/08/supereagles-radar-iheanacho-returns-adi-score-brace-kayode-sly-igbonu-score-kalu-success-fire-assists-omeruo-etebo-and-ebuehi-cautioned/ |
