So na so Awoniyi for Dey chop bench.

Angola had the plan to weaken Osimhen early by inflicting him blows. The ref had a plan to keep the cards down. Angola probably deserved a red today.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 8:02pm On Feb 02, 2024
That’s the point. Seems Onuachu is given the one instruction to hold on the the ball and delay play. Peseiro gave Angola too much respect.

Arsenate:
Just a genuinely horrible coach. A labour watching his team.
A coach with Moffi, Iheanacho, etc, should have more use for them than just waste timers.

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:31pm On Feb 02, 2024
This is when you know Jpes is tactically poor. He can’t respond with any changes. Playing the usual script regardless
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 7:27pm On Feb 02, 2024
We are lacking a creative midfielder playing closer to attack

Angola switched something tactically. We need to respond fast.

Nwabali saves the day
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 3:05pm On Feb 02, 2024
The below sums it up. He never implied he was shutting the doors to players in other categories.

“We are now open to give Call ups to any Cameroonian who is good at his Job despite where he plays his football“

Goke7:
Samule eto needs to be more realistic, another trend in this afcon is the rise of European-born players of African origin who are now giving their all for their countries of origin, I have seen this in teams from cape verde, Equatorial Guinea, Mauritania, Guinea, and established big soccer nations like Senegal, CIV, and even Nigeria with the likes of Calvin Baseey and Aina.

Eto needs to be more open-minded in this perspective of the African game if not he will just continue to be a failed FA chairman and raise questions of ex-players becoming sports adminsitrators
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 3:00pm On Feb 02, 2024
E go funny more if na Iheanacho or Moffi dem sub in instead
COOL10:
A lot of people are going to laugh at this, but I see Onuachu scoring a bicycle kick in the 86th or 87th minute of today's match grin

All things are possible, to those who believe grin

Angola -> South Africa -> CIV (Our road to finals). But I have a bad feeling. Let me keep that to myself.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:16pm On Feb 01, 2024
You underestimate what Osimhen brings to the team besides goals. Go watch Cameroon match again.

Curtisaxel10:
If Iwobi mistakenly get injury eh, na then wey all of una go respect am. Iwobi is the most important player in that team as far as I'm concerned. The only irreplaceable player.

If Osimhen gets injured, Moffi and Iheanacho dey. If Iwobi gets injured, we better just pack our bags because he is the only creative midfielder in the entire bloody team.

True as we already know what Nwakali can do. Also we have to make some move for those dual nationals.

charlesemeka85:
currently we hv enough strikers and he has to do something extra ordinary to attract the nff and super eagles coaching crew

I think when it comes to tapping this European born players the major focus for now should be in areas where the team lacks quality for instance midfield and defense

CBs like Ekong, Ajayi and Omeruo are still dependable but are aging at the same time. one or two understudies can be drafted to the team to learn from the above trio as well as serve as their heir when they eventually retires

In midfield, a player like Aribo should be dropped for now in order to give others a chance to show what they can offer

the wings should be under consideration too. Inconsistent players like Moses and Samu need competitions to sit out or to be dropped. Musa after the afcon I believe wants to retire and a player like Tella should be his replacement. Belgium based Yira Sor can be given a chance to battle for shirt with Samu and Moses

When Jpes goes…
Icon4s:
I am not a fan of Mourinho and all along I have been indifferent about JP until this AFCON.
If you really objectively watch those games we drew against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, not that the boys didn't play just that they couldn't easily unlock the defence of those teams. What the team lacked was creativity and they still lack it. However, in this AFCON they have been able to make up for it with power, long balls and speed, which are mostly what you need to play against African oppositions. This style of play will take you no where in a major tournament like the world cup. Going forward we still need to do something about that our midfield.
