We need to be unpredictable. They are countering our game so far. Dig into the reserves and switch things up or pass a different instruction. Jpes is up to you.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:59pm On Feb 07, 2024
what some people are failing to understand is that there is a coach in the opposing team who has prepared hard to neutralize our style.. it's down to a war between both coaches here. We are playing mostly Sundowns players.. we have the players, it's down to the coach.

Curtisaxel17:
Team "One leg of Osimhen is better than a healthy Moffi", how market?

Osimhen isn't able to press as usual, creating problems for the coach. But God forbid we allow a fully fit proven striker on the bench to play.

Even from a wheelchair, Osimhen must play.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:54pm On Feb 07, 2024
This is another real test for Peseiro after Angola.. I want to see how he can switch things tactically to go ahead not necessarily to hold.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:53pm On Feb 07, 2024
it's all a matter of how you can tweak things in the run of play. I see SA have switch up play later on in the half. Sending lopping passes upfront and relying on the speed of their forwards. Our defense have been okay, But so far SA has threatened more and Nwabali responded well.

it's all down to Peseiro.. Keep to the same script or fight differently to go ahead?

Omeruo in for LCB
Bassey move to LWB
Aina remain as RWB

The above should have been the changes in Zaidu’s absence and we would have an even stronger line up.

The matter weak me. Because Osimhen is very food, dem come dey talk like Moffi dey chop bench for France. Somebody who is known to explode in big games.

zicky:
Yea you are right, I was just irritated with his statement that kc and moffi cannot score in this setup like are they amateur players
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:10pm On Feb 06, 2024
@bolded partially true because the situations prior to the Angola match was different. Anyways you have finally come close to what I’ve been saying. .

Mujtahida:
I read somewhere that he actually tried this set up in our friendly against Mexico. He's been spot on in his substitutions but for the Angolan match. Then again even the players didn't want to come out.

Osimhen may just save the best for last. It’s a question of converting his chances not getting past the defenders. He will definitely get chances against SA. I expect to see him score.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:28pm On Feb 06, 2024
If Osimhen had scored 3 our 6 big chances, he’d have 4 goals now. So Osimhen could excel in this set up. He’s just missed some chances.

Likewise Moffi. All this set up talk. In a 3-4-3 you have a point man. Moffi has played in a variety of formations in Nice. As a RF/RW in a 4-3-3. As a CF in a 4-3-3 and even as a CF in a 3-4-3 (where he also scored). See below their game vs Lyon

zicky:
Uncle kc and Moffi can't score in this setup, how many has Osimhen scored in this setup that was made just for him. Bringing up R16 with a different coach and Uzoho abi maduka in goal to buttress your point. I'll say it again God forbid but if Osimhen can't play our next match Nigeria will not lose. You forget Moses and lookman contribute as much as Osimhen in this so called setup you keep calling. You don't even see how Bassey, aina and ekong have been key in this setup, but what you keep saying is if Osimhen don't play Nigeria will lose because he's Messi abi Ronaldo (R7 even sit on the bench for Portugal)

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:15pm On Feb 06, 2024
I will never start Osimhen in bench in a crucial knock out game. But in a final group game when all looks good, yes. Then bring him on in the second half.
SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 6:06pm On Feb 06, 2024
Good analysis.

in summary
1. Peseiro found this setup after injury to Ndidi and later Yusuf. He had to deploy Iwobi to a more defensive role
2. The team is well drilled to defend as
a unit and occupy spaces as well as transition to attack quickly.

My issue with Peseiro remains making tactical changes not just because he is forced to but to switch up play either to kill the game or counter when the opponent has made changes and are attempting to exploit weak areas in the team. Angola exposed Peseiro in this.

Since the AFCON started and until the Angola game I’ve not criticized Peseiro. Even after our first game vs EG which ended in a draw, I praised the team.

Oga u no get time to dig post why u come dey talk wetin u no see for this thread? No be lie be that?

I no feel any kind of way about “I told you so”, because I make my positions clear with points.

Mujtahida:
Go jare, see as you dey talk like woman. Dig your post? Say you be who and to prove what? Have you ever seen me dig any body's post on this forum? If I was wrong in what I said, you point it out. Simple. No need for this crassness about lies like I tell lies about you on a regular basis. The 'I told you so' thing cut you. Sorry. No vex.

It's best I end this conversation here cos I tried making you see with the emoji in my last post that this is lighthearted talk but the thing wey dey chook you pass this football yarn. So continue with your saltiness. Cheers

SportsRe: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 2:51pm On Feb 06, 2024
The purpose of the bench is to enable u switch up things when necessary. If you have only one set up as a coach, then you are damn rigid. If our team can’t perform without Osimhen (as you are suggesting) then the problem is the coach. Because anything can happen to any player any given time.

EEGA:
We should forget the trophy if anything happens to VO9.

These your other strikers can't play under this system.

Iwobi plays a defensive role(DLP), in this set up.

You will need to change our formation and tactics if you are to start other strikers.

Other Strikers will not be able to score against SA in this current set-up, not forgetting the game against SA in Uyo where Iheanacho started and we were beaten 2-0.

Morocco could not even score this SA team.

You expect Moffi or Iheanacho who will be needing a totally different set-up, with about 2 creative midfielders to be able to score to start.

These other Strikers are not anywhere close to Osimhen. They won't even be able to give an "A" game in this set up.
