And by the way I was referring to Onuachu (player just to hold) Odunayaw: Yes Osimhen is not there to just hold but you can't deny the fact that he is not our only scoring outlet.
The number of times our defenders (Zaidu, Bassey, Aina, Bright) have gotten into scoring chances is proof of that.
So scoring outlet is not limited. But you see that pressing that is part of Osimhen's game? Can you boldly say we have anyone who can offer that?
However, VO gassed out today and should have been pulled off much earlier. |

He made research based on how they play at their clubs abi? Na scientific research be that. E didn’t utilize that and deploy 3-4-3 in important WC qualifiers. Interesting! Mod The fact is Lookman is very comfortable coming inwards. He’s always played like that for us prior to this AFCOn charlesemeka85: in my opinion super eagles is the best team tactical wise in this afcon
I believe Jpes made out time to research more on the ability of our players and found out the best tactics to bring out their best
If u follow Lookman in Atalanta u will notice that in a two man striking tactics he is very potent. The way jpes hv set up his team especially in attack is deceptive. From the beginning you will think lookman is operation as a winger but in the actual sense him and osimhen is deployed as a two man attacking force while Simon is more of crossing and delivering of passes in the final 3rd to the attacking duo
Iwobi plays as a deep lying player maker who is expected to keep the flow of the game as well as to play it simple while Onyeka is the destroyer who runs around to harass the opponent’s midfield as well as serve as a pressing machine |

Jpes for bench Awo steady vs Osimhen! Kog45: Availability of Awoniyi would have given Osimhen some kinda rest....like 75-85 minutes on the field and Awo in to do the running for 10 to 15 minutes.....Peseiro no rate Onuachu and Moffi, seems Osimhen and Awoniyi na him kind of CF. |

O pari COOL10: He has been a very good and passionate hard worker for the team, all tournament, and I appreciate that, but he's also been a very very poor finisher, for a striker of his calibre. The truth has to be said.
I just hope he scores in the Semi Final because at this rate, I doubt he's even going to make the lineup for the team of the tournament. |

Effective? Yes. Yet ineffective in his primary role. How to find a balance? Me I can never see black and call it white. No matter the player. Nwakali that I praise today, go to many pages before u will see the opposite. Mujtahida: In JPes system the attackers are the first defenders. That's why he likes Osimhen cos Osimhen keeps the opposite defense busy thereby taking the pressure off our own defense |

We Dey say am for Napoli and heavens will not fall. Even Osimhen knows it’s all about the team. Goke7: All are assumptions, it's difficult to remove your danger man except he says he cannot continue, ask any coach, na wetin dey cause fight between big players and coaches.
Look at the Angolan captain today, he was shocked to see the coach removing and replacing him |
Sports › Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Joebie: 9:26pm On Feb 02, 2024 |
That’s the problem, I knew people will come for me if I criticized this but I will always spit facts. Osimhen’s name is written in almost all our goals but he has wasted quite a bunch all the same. He is our top striker. And it’s okay for him to be subbed for a player given the role to score and not just to hold. COOL10: If you check, Osimhen has missed up to, or even more than 50% of those chances. I wonder when he's going to find his scoring boots, because na Semi Final we don enter so oo.
He can't afford to miss such chances in the Semi final. |

I’m not implying that. But we’ve seen Situations when the main striker is replaced and the sub scores. Doesn’t make the latter better. Damn utilize ur bench for a better outcome. Goke7: are you sure the boys on the bench are better? nobody is sure o. Can Iheaancho and Moffi stand those tackles Oshinmen has been getting from defenders in this competition? |

Bro. I’m not speaking of this match alone. Osimhen should have chopped bech at some point. We have a Moffi that can also score. I already made my point that he is a big influence in almost all our goals. But he has missed so much chances all the same. charlesemeka85: how una Dey reason self? A coach should rest his most important player in the knock out phase of a competition?
Osimhen tell u say em don tire to start games? Do I know that only osimhen’s presence do distabilize opponents defense line?

My sister na all the defenders o except Zaidu. Make dem dey front row when/if that trophy is lifted. safarigirl: Imma say it now.
Ekong deserves to lift that trophy as the Super Eagles captain.
Please, whatever happens, if we do win that trophy, they should make sure he's the one doing the lifting. He has done a madness in defence in this tournament, a true rock of Gibraltar. |

Zaidu when don dey fumble since. Na him dey force himself to start match. Osimhen suppose don chop bench small though his name is written in most of our goals. Doesn’t mean Moffi, Iheanacho cannot do a thing. Maybe Osimhen needs a little reset. Goke7: the coach can't borrow his legs to the boys to score na, see the wasted chance by Zaidu in the first half. It would have ended 2-0 in the first half. The same position Oshimen gave Lukman to score against Cameroon. can we blame the coach for that haba.
We are becoming too critical of the coach, we should criticize the players more for blowing chances, we should have sealed the game more in the early part of the second half when the Angolans were clueless. How good is our bench sef, are we so sure of those boys on the bench? This Afcon rugged o |

I don’t know what to think. We have been wasting chances from match 1. The buck stop at the coach’s table because he has a bench. If we are still asking the question bench who for who, then we have a problem. Marjoribanks: Tactically, I have no problem with JP!
He has done a good job!!
Our players should stop wasting chances.
Zaiddduuu! behave yourself going forward!
Angola is a very good team! We need to stop disrespecting opponents. |

What I feared may happen unless Peseiro disagrees to sign a new contract. I hope we go for someone who can build from where Jpes stopped, and not start all over.

Yea that’s the quality we have. I knew that they had changed something formation wise. Marjoribanks: Angola switched to 334 to overload our wing backs. There is no better formation to deal with that. He should have just added some pace off front to kill the game off on counter. Nevertheless, we should have actually killed the game with those chances we created! |

That’s the point. Angola were growing into the game from those changes they made. Granted we have the players to still kill the game. But we needed to switch things tactically earlier. Joes played the usual script regardless. Reeks of cluelessness. Different situations calls for different reactions Marjoribanks: This is a quarter final match!
I believe Chukweze and Osayi should have been on early for Simon and Lookman.
You must not run your best players aground!!
The coach subs is too late for my liking! |
