efilefun: The main issue ain't about land been allocated but the place allocated had been reserved for a purpose. Do you know the sewage line that passed through that place would be diverted and innocent citizens would lose their homes cuz of some greedy politicians. The bursted sewage line got its on implications also on those living within that area Yea, I can imagine. But, its obvious these people don't care about the common nigerian.... banmee: You need to always put a disclaimer when you post things like this. This only happens in Nigeria. Imagine someone from Germany reads this. He'd be confused because this is not the norm in Normal countries. Well I believe that german should be smart enough to know that I was referring to Nigerian politicians, as the topic, relates to Nigeria, not Germany. |

bluaero: If you think the Oba of Benin will respond to this, you are wasting your time. The throne of the Oba of Benin is obviously too sacred and belongs to only one family. Hence we already know who the next Oba will be. The Ooni of ife is just a comic political appointment picked by governors and politicians of yoruba land. Benin kingdom has a well documented history for your information. LMFAO. |

MizMyColi: Humans are created beings who have a power to create. Yes, I am unashamedly a pacifist. I believe that I have the power to create my own reality. Yes, I am a idealistic realist also. If we weren't all looking forward to the ideal in various areas of our lives, our existence would be useless. I believe in the power of love and love motivated actions to transform our world.
You might think Fawehinmi had no effect, but he did sow seeds. My only prayer is that for every action he took, his soul should be at peace. You are what you are, I can't change that, not that I wanted to anyway. Love you say? I'll want you to show me just how love has transformed this world? And yes Gani owed seeds, but since he died have any of the seeds he sowed germinate? [qoute] That is a defeatist mentality. Evil will not always continue to triumph over good. I guess that for some of us, It is much easier to live and remain in the status quo than to dare to dream of a better life, as long as the activities of government does not impact us excessively negativatively; we can manage.
My dear, this is reality, not the movies. This is the world where evil triumph over good as many a times as possible, the same way good triumph over evil. If we were to count, I'll say evil is leading 10-4.
You should know dreams aren't real. So, those who dream are living in a false reality. That's why many nigerians are now living the nigerian dream, that is imbibing the concepts of individualism and rugged individualism.
Nigerian Citizens must come to a point where they realize in Unison that this space of the world belongs to them and not some elite few. I am not concerned about the activities of the government as I am about raising a people with an awareness of the power they can wield in unity for the common good.
That is my mission for Nigeria. What's yours? You seem to believe in this utopia that "nigerians must raise to the occasion". I tell you, many nigerians, particularly the uneducated, educated and illiterates are in the pockets of the elites to the point that their loyalty, is to them, not the country. How can you tell such a man to renege on someone who feed him and saved him from the clutches of poverty to bite the hands that feed him? While you raise those people... Please make sure they share the same goals and ideals with you, and please make sure they aren't back stabbers and back bitters, because your goals and objectives might be frustrated by them, especially when they belong to the "follow follow" mentality set of people. And while you think you might not be concerned about government activities, I'll enjoin to be, because government activities affect you and I, be it directly or indirectly, whether you want to believe it or not. Lastly, my mission for Nigeria, if given the chance or opportunity, is to give all our political elites "The Jerry Rawlings Treatment". Cause as long as they are very much active in Nigeria's day to day activities, be it directly or indirectly, this country will never attain uhuru. |

MizMyColi: It will begin with you. That is for sure.
It will come when a majority of us decide to put our political interests (also known as Buharists and Jonathanians) and say... "Okay, we cannot continue to politicise every issue. Some people's villages are being burnt, some cannot afford basic amenities, others are being oppressed. What is the use of having access to superior amenities if we can not reach out or be instrumental in ensuring that the government reaches out to those who need these facilities?"
Change will come when we present a more united front. It will come when you as a Northerner stop seeing the easterner as an abomination and vice versa. It will come when we lay aside our differences and fight for a common good. You sound like an idealist cum pacifist with what you wrote. Please, let reality be your guide and see the many negativity that surrounds us, and this negativity didn't just start today, nope! It started from 1960. Change will come when we stop insulting Mr President and every public office holder. If we are aggrieved over an issue, we can assertively speak without the attendant negativity.
Change will come when you take an inward look at yourself and ask "What am I doing to better the lot of this Nation?" What part am I playing? What can I start doing rightly today? What do I really want for my country Nigeria?
Dear Brother I could go on and on, but this should suffice. Have a nice day ahead Might I tell you that the great Gani Fawehinmi speak, spoke and spark until he had throat cancer and died. This nigeria for you, our leaders don't listen, even when they do its only for a short period of time as they will forget what they've heard. Whatever one does to better this nation is nothing compared to what does who are in power can do, as they hold all the keys to the doors. And they will never do it, because doing it will mean less funds for them. |

MizMyColi: Nne. I beg to disagree please
Have faith. It is the substance of things unseen.
For a country to be doomed, it mean that almost all its inhabitants are doomed.
I am not doomed. I was once on an erring/destructive path, I'm in a better place now
I know a few Nigerians who have decided to start doing things rightly too.
To say our country is doomed means you have lost faith in everyone of us. We the citizens are the hope of this country.
APC and Buhari will do little or nothing, except the change we desire begins with us.
I've been following your post for sometime now, can I ask how that change will come about? |

It is not uncommon to hear that politicians allocate land to themselves when they're in office. I'll want to say even Fashola and Tinubu did this when they were governors (though I have no proof of this).
So, since the senate have proof of the shady dealings, they should go ahead and do what's necessary. |

TheSonOfMark: The statistics and eyewitness accounts are testimonies which lay credence to that assertion of mine.
Make no mistake - I am well-travelled and I've been domiciled in the aforementioned states (for considerable periods of time) before arriving at my conclusion.
Check any official ranking of the safest cities and Uyo always ranks amongst the top three.
While you folks in Ogun (Abeokuta and Otta), Lagos, ANAMBRA (Akwa) , Edo (Benin) and Osun (Oshogbo) States are overly security conscious especially from the months of September to December (which you tag "Ember months" ) , residents of Uyo aren't bothered.
The aforementioned states have daily reported cases of cult group clashes but Uyo residents stay calm like a brook in a fenced-out nature park.
Can you sleep with your gates open? It's a common occurrence in Uyo.
What's more? Residents of the aforementioned cities agree with me.
Uyo has even overtaken Calabar as the safest and cleanest city in Nigeria.
Need I go on, sir? Hmm, please do go. You mentioned statistics prove Uyo to be the safest city in Nigeria, might I ask you to provide a link to substantiate this claim of yours. I'll also like you to name the states you've been to in Nigeria, just so I'll know where and where you've been for you to say such, because what you posited seem to be coming from states in southern Nigeria, personal experience matters.... |
