The youngsters hold pistols to the back of the men’s heads – before pulling the trigger and watching them slump to the ground. It is believed to have been carried out by the group's Afghanistan and Pakistan affiliate, SITE Intelligence said. The two men killed were captured members of the Taliban who ISIS deemed to be guilty of spying. Spying is often used by the group as a catch-all justification to carry out a death sentence. However, the video is not the first time ISIS has been found to use child soldiers. It regularly releases propaganda videos featuring its so-called "Cubs of the Caliphate" undergoing military training. Youngsters appearing to be no bigger than toddlers are seen learning how to shoots guns and use knives in the clips. ISIS named its latest video "Khorasan, The Graveyard of Murtadeen 2". This is a reference to the Khorasan Province - the territory straddling Pakistan and Afghanistan it claims to operate in. It is also the second video in a series about this area being the graveyard of "murtadeen", a term which translates to "apostate". The past few months have seen a renewed push for notoriety by the group's propaganda agencies after it suffered a series of crushing battlefield defeats. Vice-Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, has urged Kaduna State government and other stakeholders to consider using NOUN for their teachers’ certification. Adamu stated this during a tripartite signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) among Kaduna State government, National Open University of Nigeria and the Housing Developers Institute at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna. He said NOUN through its flexible and cost effective means of education delivery can get teachers certified while still working. “We also urge your Excellency to consider using NOUN as a basis for teacher certification training. The flexibility of our training means that teachers can get certified while still working. I make bold to say that the courses offered by NOUN are internationally recognized such that other Open Universities in Africa adapt our course material for use while other countries have sent representatives for possible affiliation with their institutions.” The vice chancellor also noted that the university is transiting from an evolutionary to a revolutionary stage in its development. “I am happy to inform His Excellency that the National Open University of Nigeria is transiting from an evolutionary to a revolutionary stage in its development, moving from noun to verb meaning getting more proactively involved in making sure education is accessible, flexible and affordable. This proactivity sees us getting involved in community projects of humanitarian nature, providing us with the opportunity to make impact and change lives.” “Our first community efforts were towards initially waving fifty percent registration fees for inmates in Nigerian penitentiaries, later we moved up higher to offer unconditional scholarship that is one hundred percent waiver to all inmates in Nigeria penitentiaries. Your Excellency sir, we are extending this scholarship which includes free registration and free access to all our study materials to all inmates in Kaduna juvenile detention centers.” Prof. Abdallah stressed. The vice-chancellor also noted that the memorandum of understanding signed was a step towards skills acquisition empowerment of the massive Nigerian youths who have passed out of school but lack opportunities for paid employment, because the course with the highest number of students at NOUN currently is B Sc Entrepreneurship programme which has over 30, 000 students across all levels. “Kaduna State has a (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

The government of Kaduna State has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) for the development of skill acquisition and entrepreneurial empowerment in the state. The pact, signed in collaboration with the Housing Developers Institute (HDI) and the World Bank, will see indigenous youth of the state trained by the Centre for Educational Technology and Entrepreneurial Development (CETED) of NOUN and absorbed at graduation by Housing Developers Institute, who will also screen the students for admission at CETED, while World Bank will provide workshop materials for the training. The vision of the state government is to remove idle youths from the street, get them trained at NOUN and absorbed by the HDI, which has a monumental project to construct 1,000 affordable housing units in the state. Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony held at the Government House, Kaduna, on Tuesday, the Vice-chancellor of NOUN, Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu, disclosed that the vision and mission of the university centred on providing access for affordable and quality education for Nigerians. He said: “The signing of this MoU today is significant in that there are thousands of youth who left school and have not gained any paid employment. By this scheme, NOUN is going to clear thousands of such youths in Kaduna State off the streets, train them on Housing Technology skills and get them absorbed by our partners in the housing industry who are handling the construction of about 1000 housing units which Kaduna State government is about to embark upon. This, therefore, translates to providing thousands of employment opportunities to the youth of Kaduna State.” Adamu added that skill acquisition empowerment is very important, not only to NOUN as a university, but also to the nation in the present phase of its socio-economic life. He revealed that NOUN’s most subscribed programme at the moment was Entrepreneurial Studies, which has a student population of over 30,000. “Self-reliance and self-employment is the way to go in this dispensation,” he said. He requested the state government to expand the programme to accommodate women, especially full-time housewives, so that they may also be economically empowered. He added that NOUN as an institution is passionate about women empowerment. “That is why 60% of management personnel in the university are women, while 46% of the entire work force are women.” In his response, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Balarabe Abbas Lawal, said the state government was passionate about youth empowerment, hence the signing of the MoU, adding that the scheme would open numerous avenues for gainful employment for the youths in the state. Lawal promised to follow the agreement in the MoU to the letter, while pledging to tender the request of the vice chancellor to the governor with optimism that the governor would give a positive thought about extending the empowerment scheme to women. “We know that women are the first teachers. When they are empowered, they easily transfer that empowerment to their children,” he said. Earlier on, the chairman of Housing Developers Institute, Mr. E. Afolayan Olabode, had expressed delight and readiness to work with the government of Kaduna State in its bid to impact the lives of the youths positively. “For us, coming with this skill acquisition scheme is giving back to society. Not until we get the youth skilled, we will not deliver on the project we are embarking upon,” he said. <[url:http:primeviewsng.com]>

The Lagos State Government said on Friday that it had begun a total enforcement of the law prohibiting street trading and hawking. The state government said that the law would be implemented in every part of the state. The state governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, said during a live programme on Television Continental that the renewed enforcement was in line with Section One of the Lagos State Street Trading and Illegal Market Prohibition Law 2003. The governor, while sympathising with the famare both liable and that we are going to fine them either N90, 000 or a six month jail term. “What we are doing on traffic is that we are introducing new strategies to eliminate traffic, but Lagos, being a cosmopolitan city, you cannot totally eliminate it but now this is the case, in the next few days, you will see on the street of Lagos signs that will be warning you that buyers and hawkers should be aily of a street hawker who was knocked down by an articulated truck while trying to evade arrest from officials of Kick Against Indiscipline along Maryland Bus stop on Wednesday, regretted that the situation led to the destruction of public assets. He said, “It is not in our DNA to allow someone to just die by road accident or the way it happened in respect of the incident. But beyond the fact that we lost one person while crossing the road as a result of evading arrest by KAI officials, I need to tell Lagosians that over 49 buses were actually destroyed and it is costing us like almost N139m to put those buses back on the road.” The governor added that the state executive council consequently resolved to enforce the law, which according to him, makes hawkers and buyers liable of the offence. Ambode said, “The issue is we need to enforce our laws because we already have a law in respect of that and then there is a clause in it which says the buyer and the seller (Click on the link below to read more ) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Punch reports that eighteen pilgrims have been injured in a stampede near Islam’s holiest site, Saudi media reported on Saturday, as the kingdom continues to review safety after a deadly crush during last year’s hajj. The incident happened on Friday night near the Grand Mosque in Mecca, the Al-Riyadh newspaper said, as Muslims gathered in large numbers to mark the Night of Destiny, one of the high points of the holy fasting month of Ramadan. All the injured were treated at the scene and none required admission to hospital, the newspaper cited a health official as saying. Every year, hundreds of thousands of pilgrims flock to Mecca to carry out the lesser umra pilgrimage during Ramadan — especially during its last 10 days. They include the Night of Destiny, when the angel Gabriel is believed to have given the Prophet Mohammed the verses of the Koran. The incident comes as Saudi authorities continue to unveil new safety measures for this year’s hajj in September. A crush at last year’s hajj killed more than 2,000 pilgrims in the worst disaster to ever strike the annual ritual. According to figures from foreign officials, at least 2,297 pilgrims died. Saudi Arabia issued a death toll of 769. Newspapers reported on Friday that, among new security measures, hajj pilgrims this year will (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Punch reports that the police have arrested one Aloysius Ebiniko, said to be the kingpin of the armed gang that abducted and murdered Col. Samaila Inusa on March 27, 2016 in Kaduna, Kaduna State. The police said Ebiniko’s arrest was made possible by credible technical intelligence employed by the Force after a confessional statement of a member of the gang earlier arrested. The Force explained that the suspect would soon be arraigned in court as those earlier arrested in connection with the crime had been arraigned and remanded in prison. Meanwhile, contrary to reports that the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Shuaibu Gambo, was queried over the shoddy investigation into the abduction of a teenager, Ese Oruru, our correspondent gathered that it was AIG Yabo Tambari that was queried. Findings indicate that Tambari was the AIG in charge of Zone 1, Kano, during the incident while AIG Gambo was the officer that rescued Ese after he was directed by the Force headquarters to take over the case from Tambari. A source said, “It was Gambo that actually rescued Ese after he was directed to take over the investigation from Tambari under whose watch the incident happened. Gambo led the operation for the rescue of the teenager after the investigation was bungled by the officers that handled it earlier.” <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

100% Potent Natural Cure for Cancer *Eating Fruit on Empty Stomach* This will open your eyes! Read to the end and then send it on to all on your e-list. I just did! Dr Stephen Mak treats terminal ill cancer patients by an "un-orthodox" way and many patients recovered. Before he used solar energy to clear the illnesses of his patients, he believes on natural healing in the body against illnesses. See his article below. It is one of the strategies to heal cancer. As of late, my success rate in curing cancer is about 80%. Cancer patients shouldn't die. The cure for cancer is already found - *it’s in the way we eat fruits.* It is whether you believe it or not. I am sorry for the hundreds of cancer patients who die under the conventional treatments. *EATING FRUIT* We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and *when* to eat the fruits. What is the correct way of eating fruits? *IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS!* *FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH* If you eat fruits on empty stomach, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities. _FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD._ Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so due to the bread taken before the fruit. In the meantime the whole meal of bread & fruit rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil. So please eat your fruits on an *empty stomach* *or before your meals!* You have heard people complaining: Every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc. Actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on _an empty stomach._ The fruit mixes with the putrefying of other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat! Greying hair, balding, nervous outburst and dark circles under the eyes all these will *NOT* *happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.* There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the *SECRET of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal weight.* When you need to drink fruit juice - *drink only fresh fruit juice,* NOT from the cans, packs or bottles. Don't even drink juice that has been heated up. Don't eat cooked fruits because you don't get the nutrients at all. You only get its taste. Cooking destroys all the vitamins. But eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the fresh fruit juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit fast to cleanse or detoxify your body. Just eat fruits and drink fresh fruit juice throughout the 3 days. And you will be surprised when your friends tell you how radiant you look ! KIWI fruit Tiny but mighty. Punch reports that a motorcyclist, Kazeem Sani, has been set free by a Lagos State High Court sitting in Igbosere, after awaiting trial for 10 years in the Kirikiri Medium Prison. Sani, 34, who was accused of stealing a mobile phone valued at N18,000, was said to have been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court sometime in 2006 when the incident happened before the case was referred to the high court. PUNCH Metro learnt that the Ore, Ondo State indigene, was freed after the intervention of some officials of the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender. An official of the OPD, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said no witness showed up for the case during the period, adding that the matter got to the high court in 2013. He said, “He was arrested in 2006. However, the matter was filed at the Lagos High Court, Igbosere, on March 27, 2013. That means he spent seven years in custody before his case got to the high court. “In the three years that the matter was in court, there was no witness. Three suspects were actually arraigned, but the others secured their bail in 2006 when the incident happened. He also didn’t have any legal representative. “We were just checking on the cases in court when we came across his matter and we decided to stand for him. Even the court was surprised that he had spent 10 years. We asked the court that the matter be struck out for lack of diligent prosecution and the Chief Judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, struck out the matter.” The official said Sani could not believe he had been set free until he was reassured by court officials to go home. It was learnt that Sani had only been married for one year and his wife was pregnant as of the time of the incident. Court documents obtained by PUNCH Metro revealed that Sani and two others, Ezekiel Oriyomi and Bashiru Olaide, were arraigned for robbery. The police, in the three counts, said Sani, and others, on July 7, 2006 dispossessed one Chike of his mobile phone valued at N18,000 at Oluti bus stop, along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Lagos. But the discharged and acquitted Sani told PUNCH Metro that he did not steal the phone. He said, “I am a tailor by craft, but when I saw that my earnings were not sufficient to cater to the need of my wife, whom I just married, I decided to start riding a motorcycle to augment my income. “While coming from my house at Idi-Iroko, Sango, on July 6, 2006, two men asked me to carry them to Agege. On the way, some officials of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, started flagging me down. “When I stopped, the two men on my motorcycle jumped down and started to run, but they were quickly arrested. I was also taken to the SARS office at Ikeja. “I asked them what my crime was and they said I was among the robbers who always snatched people’s bags. I denied and told them my wife was pregnant and I was just looking for my daily bread, but they refused.” He said the three of them were later arraigned at the Ikeja Magistrate’s Court. He explained that the court admitted them to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum, adding that while the two other defendants met the bail conditions and were released, he could not meet the conditions and was, therefore, detained. Sani told our correspondent he was moved to the Kirikiri Medium Prison where he spent 10 years without trial. “My marriage was barely a year old then. My wife, Amina, was pregnant, and my father, who was aged, lived in Ondo. “When I saw that my incarceration was affecting my wife, (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Thursday’s issuance of a Certificate of Return to Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah by the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja has complicated the dispute over the governorship seat of Abia State. Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had, on Monday, ordered the removal of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and ordered INEC to issue a Certificate of Return to Ogah, who was the first runner-up in the state governorship primary of the Peoples Democratic Party. Justice Abang had ordered the removal of Ikpeazu after finding him guilty of not presenting relevant tax certificates along with his forms submitted to INEC. He held that Ikpeazu, who emerged as the candidate of the PDP in the state for the 2015 governorship election on the strength of the primary, was not qualified to be the candidate of the PDP. INEC Commissioner in charge of the South-East, Ambassador Lawrence Nwuruku, presented the Certificate of Return to Ogah in Abuja in accordance with the judgment of the court. Nwuruku told journalists that the court directed the commission to issue the certificate with immediate effect. He said, “The situation is we are simply obeying the court order. The court said with immediate effect, we should issue him a Certificate of Return, and that is what we have done. “If the court tomorrow issues (another) order, we will obey the same. By the grace of God, I am the INEC commissioner in charge of the South-East. “In this case, the court ordered us to issue certificate to the person who won the election, that is Uchechukwu Ogah. I was the person that issued the same Certificate of Return to Governor Ikpeazu because he was declared the winner. “One thing is that we are not above the law and we cannot disobey the law of the land.” A few hours after Ogah collected his Certificate of Return in Abuja, an Abia State High Court in Osisioma stopped the Chief Judge of the state or any other judge in the state from inaugurating Ogah as directed by Justice Abang on Monday. The presiding judge in the court, Justice C. H. Ahuchaogu, equally made a belated order stopping INEC from issuing a Certificate of Return to Ogah as the winner of the 2015 governorship election in the state. In a suit, HOS 52/2016, by Ikpeazu, Justice Ahuchaogu ordered “that the third Defendant (state CJ) or any other judge of the court or any judicial officer are hereby restrained from swearing in the first Defendant (Ogah) while the claimant remains in office in accordance with Section 143(1) and (2) of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) and pending the determination of the motion on notice.” The issuance of the Certificate of Return to Ogah and the pronouncement of the Abia State High Court have created confusion on who is the valid governor of the state. Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Bonnie Iwuoha, on Thursday, announced that the government had declared Friday (today) and Monday next week as work-free days in memory of the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, who died on Wednesday. He said the gesture was in recognition of the immense contribution of the deceased, who hailed from the state, to the development of the state and Nigeria in general. Similarly, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Eme Okoro, expressed surprise at the sudden death of Maduekwe, who he said worked tirelessly for the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria. But the Peoples Democratic Party in the state described the order of the Federal High Court in Abuja as a threat to democracy in the country. Addressing newsmen at Government House on Thursday, the state chairman of the party, Chief Johnson Onuigbo, said the party would resist any attempt by any person or group to undermine the peace in the state. Ogah arrives in Owerri, assures people of democratic dividends In a similar vein, Ogah described his success at the Federal High Court, Abuja, as a further vindication of the confidence reposed in the nation’s judiciary as the last hope of the common man. Speaking with newsmen on arrival at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, from Abuja, where he was issued a Certificate of Return on Thursday, Ogah stated that by his eventual success, the people of Abia State would not only enjoy more democratic dividends, but would be accorded equal opportunities in all facets of his government. Ogah added, “This is a new dawn in Abia, a fresh air has come to the people. There is joy all over the land. I assure the people of Abia State that this is the beginning of good things for them.” A few hours later, however, there were reports that some suspected hoodlums had invaded Umuahia, the Abia State capital, following information that Ogah had arrived at the state capital and headed straight for the office of the Department of State Services. The suspected thugs, who were said to be carrying sticks, were allegedly seen with some security agencies along the Akanu Ibiam Road, leading to the Government House. Unconfirmed reports, however, said Ogah might be sworn in by a Chief Judge from a neighbouring state following the order of the Abia State High Court, stopping the Chief Judge of Abia State from swearing in Ogah. CNPP, lawyers speak on stalemate The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties has commended INEC for promptly issuing a Certificate of Return to Ogah as the Abia State Governor in line with the ruling of a Federal High Court in Abuja. The CNPP stated that the development was a positive indicator that Nigeria’s democracy was advancing. It added that the action of the commission was a pointer to the level of non-interference in the electoral and judicial processes by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration. The conference stated this in a statement in Abuja on Thursday by its National Chairman, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, and the Secretary General, Chief Willy Ezugwu. It said, “What has happened in Abia State shows that the era of impunity is behind us. “There is hope in our democratic future as a country as any country, where impunity is the norm, never survives. “President Muhammadu Buhari administration and INEC must be commended for this singular demonstration of courage to do what is right in line with the court judgment that ordered the issuance of the Certificate of return to Ogah, who came second in the Abia State PDP governorship primary.” In his reaction, a former Chairman of the Ikeja Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Monday Ubani, justified the issuance of the Certificate of Return to Ogah, arguing that the notice of appeal filed by Ikpeazu did not operate as an order for a stay of proceedings. Ubani added, “Note also that the appeal of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu before the Court of Appeal does not operate as a stay over the judgment of Justice Okon Abang. “In the absence of any express order of the High Court or the Court of Appeal, ordering a stay of execution, the judgment of the Federal High Court should be obeyed by all the parties.” Ubani also faulted an order of an Abia State High Court, restraining the Chief Judge of the state from swearing in Ogah as the governor of the state. The lawyer said the Abia High Court, being of coordinate jurisdiction with the Federal High Court, lacked jurisdiction to make such an order, and as such, the restraining order, and as such, the restraining order against the Chief Judge of the state was invalid. He stated, “I understand that a High Court in Osisioma Ngwa, the area where the governor hails from, has issued an interim order, restraining the Chief Judge from swearing in Dr. Uche Ogah as the governor of the state. “The point must be made that this order cannot stand as it is invalid in law. “The order did not emanate from a higher court but from a court of coordinate jurisdiction and does not in any way vitiate or invalidate the earlier judgment of the Federal High Court in which the Chief Judge of Abia State was ordered to swear in Dr. Uche Samson Ogah. “Only a higher court, in this case, the Court of Appeal, has the jurisdiction to reverse the judgment of the Federal High Court.” But a former National Secretary of the Labour Party, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, argued that the Supreme Court had the final say in governorship election petitions, saying it would be treasonable felony to swear in Ogah. He said, “The Supreme Court therefore has the final say in the evaluation of the two lower courts mentioned above. “As it is, Governor Ikpeazu, who is presently the occupier of the seat of Governor of Abia State by Section 143 (1) and (2) of the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) has 21 days to file an appeal, and, within this period of 21 days, the occupant statutorily remains in office, notwithstanding the decision of the Election Petitions Tribunal or any court, including the Court of Appeal and also has a statutory period of 14 days from the day of the judgment of the Court of Appeal to file his appeal at the Supreme Court. “Any attempt to swear in Ogah, under any guise at this stage, is not only satanic, it is uncharitable and crystal clear and sheer violation of the Electoral Act. It should also be noted that such an attempt or contemplation is without precedent in our jurisdiction on election matter. “The speculation of swearing in Otti on (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

IF there is one thing Afro-pop singer, Yemi Eberechi Alade aka Yemi Alade, is missing like hell, it is the freedom to step out and buy her favourite bean cake (Akara). The musician of Yoruba-Igbo heritage, who hit the limelight after she won Peak Talent Show in 2009 and who finally found success after the release of her hit track, Johnny, in 2013, in this exclusive interview with CHRISTIAN AGADIBE, Yemi Alade opens up on her sophomore album, Mama Africa. She also talks about her ideal man among other issues. Excerpts: When you wake up in the morning, what comes to your mind first? Wow! The first thing I do is pray for effyzzie Music Group; that one is for sure. Secondly, I pray for all lovers of my music, asking God to meet them at the point of their needs and then, I pray for the music industry. What is new about Yemi Alade? I am releasing my second album entitled, Mama Africa this year and it should drop very soon by God’s grace. I have released two singles. I can’t wait for the release of the album; I am so excited. Mama Africa is the dairy of the Africa woman. What inspired the title Mama Africa? Two things, first, Africa is a continent that you cannot help but fall in love with, it is so beautiful and colourful. Despite the limitations, we are a very happy people. Secondly, Mama Africa be-longs to everybody and tagging my album Mama Africa is like taking way the stigma of Africa be¬ing a dark continent. Did you know you would be¬come this big five years ago? Well, it has always been my prayer. I had no idea how it would happen but I am just a pencil in God’s hands. How do you intend to marry your accessory line with your music? I unveiled YAC Collection in 2015. And marry¬ing both worlds has not been challenging because I am working with partners that have earned my trust. What has fame denied you? Wow! I can’t walk on the streets anymore like I used to do. I used to enjoy and love taking long walks but I can’t anymore. Is there a particular food or snack you have missed so much on account of stardom? Well, it’s akara (bean cake), I love akara but this is not a situation of fame. Sometimes when I go to see my mum, there is always akara. Which artistes influenced your beginnings? So many did. In Nigeria, Omawunmi has always been an inspiration. Beyoncé is definitely another big source of inspiration. Did you ever think of quitting? There are no two ways about it; I definitely thought I was going to get a white-collar job. I have my BSc in Geography. The truth is that mu¬sic is a financially intensive project. It was pretty tough. I thank God for meeting Efizzy Music Group. What kept you going? The passion, when your stomach is empty, your wallet empty and you’re tired; the only thing that keeps you going is God and passion. Despite your fame you have steered clear of controversies. How did you pull it off? I don’t look for trouble; that is the secret. When the time comes to finally settle down, what tribe would you settle for? It is beyond tribe for me; tribe should be the least criterion. Are you seeing any man right now? O! Yes I am. You can see many men around (points at male guests at the event amid laughter) Who is your ideal man? He has to be God fearing, have good prospect, and of course, a sense of humour. What is the craziest thing a fan has done to you on stage? A fan tried to grab my waist. <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man, Ike Iwuanyanwu, for allegedly raping and impregnating his 15-year-old daughter, Priscilla (pseudonym) at Ajao Estate, in the Isolo area of the state. Our correspondent gathered that Iwuanyanwu, who was a company driver living on Anuoluwapo Street in the estate, was arrested on Wednesday after the matter was reported at the Ajao Estate Police Division. It was learnt that the victim had been taken into custody by the Lagos State Government. PUNCH Metro gathered that Iwuanyanwu had also allegedly beaten his daughter and wife, warning them not to disclose the incident to anyone. It was learnt that Priscilla’s mother, however, informed her family members on Wednesday, who went to the girl’s school to confirm the story from her. The case was thereafter reported to the state Ministry of Youth and Social Development, which informed the police. A neighbour of the Iwuanyanwus, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the victim was the first child of the family, adding that the father had allegedly confessed to the crime. She said, “The man is a driver and the girl is his first child. None of us knew anything about the incident until he was arrested. The only thing we saw was that the man beat up his wife and daughter late in the night on Tuesday. “The girl was pregnant and the father tried to hide it. It was her school that informed the Lagos State Government. “The girl confessed that it was her father who raped and impregnated her. The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development alerted the police and the man was arrested. “The suspect did not deny that he impregnated the girl. He knew the government was involved and he had no hiding place. We learnt he told the police that his wife did not allow him to have sex with her and he yielded to the temptation of raping his daughter. “The girl’s mother told her family members, who then went to her school. They did not know the school authorities would get the ministry involved. No fewer than 19 people have been reported dead in a multiple crash at the Fidiwo/Ajebo end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. PUNCH Metro gathered that the accident involved a fully loaded commercial bus, a fuel tanker and a Dangote truck. It was learnt that the tanker, which was travelling to Ibadan, Oyo State, had attempted to overtake the Dangote truck, when it had a head-on collision with the commercial bus. The bus, with number plate AGL 373 XR, was said to be travelling to Lagos State. It was gathered that only one passenger in the bus survived while the others died on the spot. The accident was said to have occurred at a section of the road where there was a diversion of traffic due to ongoing construction works on the road. Our correspondents gathered that the accident caused a traffic jam which lasted for hours despite the intervention of officials of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Federal Road Safety Corps. Motorists were said to have been gaping at the corpses, which were being extricated from the wreckage. The victims were later conveyed to the mortuary just as the injured were taken to the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu. However, while TRACE said 19 people died in the accident, the FRSC said 15 were killed. The Public Relations Officer of TRACE, Babatunde Akinbiyi, blamed the tanker driver for the accident, saying he was impatient. He said, “The tanker, with number plate, RAN 571 XA, was travelling to Ibadan. While trying to overtake a Dangote truck, it had a head-on collision with the Lagos-bound commercial bus, killing the bus passengers and the driver. “The Dangote truck, with number plate AJG 40 XA, which was loaded with bags of cement, was also involved in the crash. Nineteen people died in the accident.” He added that ongoing construction works along the expressway necessitated a road diversion at the point where the crash occurred. He said the petroleum product being conveyed to Ibadan by the tanker was later transferred into another tanker. The Sector Commander, Ogun State FRSC, Adetunji Adegoke, said the remains of the deceased had been deposited at FOS Mortuary, Ipara Remo, Ogun State. He said, “The accident (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Punch reports that President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday returned to Nigeria after spending 14 days in London, United Kingdom. In a short interaction at the airport, Buhari challenged one of the State House correspondents, who asked him about his state of health, to a wrestling contest. “You know I am taller than you. Do you want to wrestle me?” the President asked in Hausa language. He had earlier told the journalists that they could see him while he was inspecting the guard of honour, an indication that his health was in perfect condition. “I am okay. You can see me inspecting the guard of honour. You have seen me, you saw me when I was going. You can do the assessment yourself,” he said. The presidential jet that conveyed the President landed at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 5.33pm. Dressed in a light brown kaftan, Buhari was in company with two of his children – a son and a daughter; a few close aides and Alhaji Mamman Daura. He was received by the Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Yari; the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; some members of the Federal Executive Council, top government officials, federal lawmakers and service chiefs. On arrival, Buhari inspected a guard of honour mounted by men of the Guards Brigade. Members of the National Troupe dressed in Yoruba and Fulani attire also danced to the admiration of the President. Buhari had a brief closed-door interaction with the top government officials who came to receive him at the airport. With the airport ceremonies over, the President and some top aides left for the Presidential Villa in a long convoy. The two governors in attendance in separate interviews expressed delight at the President’s return. “We thank God for bringing him back to fix the country,” Yari said while Bello simply said, “Our daddy is back. He has gone to take a rest and he is back. We are happy and delighted to have him back.” The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, later told reporters that Buhari would be resuming duties on Monday (today). “The President is going to resume work tomorrow. The Vice-President had said he would arrive today and he has arrived, then work starts in earnest tomorrow,” he said. The presidential spokesman insisted that Buhari did not travel abroad for medical purposes. He recalled that he wrote in the statement he issued that the President had been treated by Nigerian physicians. He restated his position that what the Nigerian doctors told Buhari was that since he was going for holiday, experts could also look at him there. He said, “It was not as if he was not treated in the country. He was treated, well treated and certified okay. Since he was going on holiday, he was asked to see experts there. “Some people called it (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

The police have arrested a suspected quack doctor, Victor Akpan, in the Gwarinpa area of Abuja. PUNCH Metro learnt that Akpan, who had been running a private hospital for 10 years, allegedly operated with forged and stolen certificates. As a quack doctor, he was said to have performed caesarean sections, removed fibroids and delivered pregnant women of babies. His arrest came exactly one year after the arrest of a senior medical officer with the Federal Ministry of Health, Martins Ugwu, by the police for practising as a medical doctor with stolen certificates for over nine years. PUNCH Metro learnt on Tuesday that Akpan’s arrest was sequel to investigations by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. It was gathered that the suspect was the owner of Luna Maternity and Surgery Hospital, an outfit he opened in 2006 using a forged licence – four years after the MDCN refused to grant him licence to practice as a homeopath. The Head of the Inspectorate Division of MDCN, Dr Henry Okwuokenye, who had been investigating Akpan, said the regulatory agency did not grant him a homeopathic practice licence “because the school he claimed to have graduated from in Enugu State was not approved to train students in alternative medicine.” He said an investigation by the MDCN showed that Akpan presented forged documents to unsuspecting officials of the Private Health Establishment and Monitoring Committee, an organisation, which regulates private health outfits in Abuja, to get Luna registered. “Akpan had big name patients as far back as 2007 and had facilitated the expansion of his clinic. He hired five workers, who assisted him in an apartment where he performed caesarean sections, removed fibroids and delivered pregnant women of babies,” Okwuokenye said. It was learnt that the suspect, who was already with the police, could be paraded this week. PUNCH Metro gathered that Akpan told police investigators that in 2002, he allegedly paid N15, 000 to one Nwagbara, a worker with a teaching hospital in Enugu State, to get a forged MDCN practice certificate. The certificate, sighted by our correspondent, was issued to one Dr. Awani, a 1995 Medicine and Surgery graduate of the University of Benin. Punch reports that the Osun State branch of Christian Association of Nigeria carried out its threat to instruct Christian pupils to appear in their schools in choir robes and other church garments as some students of the Baptist High School, Iwo, appeared in the school in church apparel on Tuesday. The students in such religious garments started arriving at the school around 8.30am as members of CAN in Iwo town were at the school to ensure none of the children was turned back for dressing the way they liked. Many of the female Muslim pupils also wore hijab and nobody stopped them from doing so. The students, who complied with the CAN’s directive, headed straight to their different classes one after the other and no teacher raised any question on their mode of dressing. The Principal of the school, Mr. Omotayo Arowolo, said there was no crisis and teachers were in the classes teaching all students, who came to school. He declined further comment on the development when journalists visited him in his office on Tuesday. One of the leaders of the CAN, who spoke to journalists at the school premises, Mr. Paul Olagoke, said they came to ensure that Christian students were not denied the right to wear their church garments to the school. Olagoke, a catechist and head of Catholic bloc in the Iwo unit of CAN, said if Muslims were allowed to wear hijab to propagate Islam in schools founded by Christian missionaries, it would also be appropriate for Christian pupils to wear religious garments to schools. He said, “We are here to defend our religious right, to ensure that nobody chase away our children for deciding to wear choir robes and other church-related clothes to school. “We told the government before the school merger that we did not want Christian schools to be merged with other schools to avoid this kind of situation. We are determined to make sure that Christianity is not eradicated in the schools established with the sweat of our forefathers in the faith.” There was no crisis at the Baptist High School, Osogbo, and Salvation Army Middle School, Osogbo. No student was seen with any different uniform at the two schools and others in Osogbo while some Muslim students, who wore hijab, were also not turned back. Reacting, Aregbesola said any students caught wearing unapproved garments to public schools in the state would be expelled. The governor said this in Ibokun on Tuesday while speaking at the inauguration of St. Michael Middle School. The governor said it was wrong of any group to instigate pupils to wear unauthorised garments to government-owned schools. Aregbesola said his government was not in support of any religion against the others while urging any group dissatisfied with the judgment to seek a redress in court. A source told our correspondent that the Director of Department of State Services in Osun State, Mr. Ike Maduegbuna, had led some government officials to a meeting of the Christian leaders held at Otan Ayegbaju on Monday. He was said to have appealed to the leaders not to instruct children to wear any clothes to schools apart from their uniforms. Some Christian leaders, who attended the meeting under the aegis of the Christian Council of Nigeria, reportedly rejected the plea of the DSS director and that of a former commissioner, who said Muslims female students had yet to start wearing hijab to schools. The Chairman of CAN in the state, who is an Anglican bishop, Rt. Revd. James Popoola, and the Secretary, Dr. Bayo Ademuyiwa, were reported to have said they were ready to defend the right of students with every available means. Justice Jide Falola had, on June 3, delivered a judgment that Muslims students should be allowed to wear hijab to schools because it was part of their fundamental rights to do so. Based on this judgment, the CAN said it would direct Christian pupils to also wear church garments like choir robes and vestments to schools. <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

You do, don’t you? Yes, I do . And you said so in the presence of a hundred or more people as witnesses. Then you hosted an Owambe to drive home your point. You are sentenced to ‘death’. Till death do you part. Then things begin to fall apart. But should you kill each other with your bare hands? Are men really made that way? To kick things around? Blame her mouth. Of course, everybody knows she talks too much. But you should have known that her mouth runs like tap water and she would never stop offending you with her words and, indeed, that’s why you should learn to be partially deaf. Little things are breaking homes. Men are killing their wives over flimsiest reasons. Every day, people are fighting with their significant other over insignificant matters . You now begin to hate the one you love. You were not really sure initially. Or how can one love and hate the same person at the same time? Love can be a good thing though, but it can also turn a seemingly stable person into a flimsy bridge holding a lot of weight. Love is very powerful and anything with power can destroy, including love. Your love story was not ending well. You started well. Your love for each other was blind, deaf and dumb. You were both warned but you were meant for each other. It was the most amazing thing you’ve ever felt in your entire life. Your love story was almost like a movie—everything wasn’t perfect but you loved each other so intensely. Then the problems started to creep in. He’s more carefree and just go with the flow, and you suspect he has commitment issues. Or, you have a lot of anxiety and some attachment issues and ended up pushing him away. Fast forward the next few years. Things started deteriorating. What he did or you did or failed to do became a big deal. A bag of sour cream and onions. How he/she was pressing the toothpaste became a big deal. Many don’t like the toothpaste being pressed in the middle. A lawyer recently had to reconcile a couple who couldn’t stand each other because the wife didn’t like how her husband was pressing the toothpaste. Her complaints and insults led to a fight that saw the husband heading to the divorce court. But the good lawyer was able to patch things up between them. And who would have believed that a man’s peaceful sleep could irritate his wife? That peaceful sleep was causing her sleeplessness. He was snoring and that alone could bring down the roof. She decided that she could not take it and so did not. She walked away and both found other people. Hehehehe. Don’t make a joke of checking your man’s phone and reading his text messages. He could kill you for doing so and if he didn’t, you could just land yourself in trouble. You could see what you ought not to see that could break your heart and who would you blame? A marriage counselor and lawyer, Mrs Kaine revealed that one of the cases she handled in a divorce court was started by the wife who flipped through her husband’s phone and saw what she ought not to see. “Ordinarily, they were a happy couple until that weekend. The husband stayed at home and while he tried to fix a lot of things around the house, his loving wife grabbed his phone and began to flip through. Then she saw the recording of her husband making it out with another woman.” All hell was let loose. And yet, this was a man who never stayed out late or hanged out with the boys at weekends. The entire episode ended in the divorce court and that was after a huge fight that left the man with a broken head and his wife with blood-shot eyes. And the other woman? Her business place was left in ruins. Checking his phone could spell suicide because that would be tantamount to invading his privacy and most men wouldn’t take it. “Check through my phone? That’s rubbish because I don’t check through hers. What would my wife or my girlfriend doing, checking through my phone? I am not a saint when it comes to women and I have never pretended about it. So, why would she go looking for trouble?” asked Ade, a lawyer. “There are many things a man cannot stomach. Some men would not mind but I mind. If my wife is chatting with another man, I don’t know because I trust her and I expect her to trust me. If she sees me discussing with a woman, I expect her to understand that I have that freedom to talk with other women about other issues because they are not emotionally attached to me. I have the freedom to talk business and discuss other issues. If she complains, its her business.” In another divorce case, a simple thing as little as social etiquette caused a huge fight between an urbane husband and his wife. “She asked to be given ‘mineral’ in a party and the husband flew up. Mineral, how can an educated woman request for a bottle of ‘mineral? Doesn’t she know whether it is coke, Fanta, Malt or juice that she wants? Does she have to call it ‘mineral’ like local women? Doesn’t she even have the grace to say she wants something soft or non-alcoholic? Mineral? After all the years she spent in the university, she comes to a high-class party here to rub mud on my face by requesting for ‘mineral.” The couple fought all the way home and eventually ended up in the divorce court after she said something that made him to slap her several times and bruised her mouth.. And how could a fairly successful businessman, Emeka have thought that by marrying a daughter of a rich transporter, all his problems would be solved? “ I was the cause of everything ,” said Emeka’s best man, Fred. “When the first daughter of this wealthy transporter from the South East got married, her father settled her and her new husband and made her husband stupendously rich. I was related to the man and I shared their experience with my best friend and on learning that the man still had another daughter, he decided to go for her. “That was a huge mistake. Emeka wooed Nkiru and she agreed to marry him. A wedding date was set and preparations began. Emeka sold two of his cars and left one with the hope that after the marriage, what the inlaws would give their daughter would buy him better cars. But he was wrong. “It was the mother-in-law that perceived him as a gold-digger and told her husband. And at the reception, his father-in-law told the guests that Nkiru was his best child and he spent millions to train her to become a qualified medical doctor and a gynecologist. He said |Nkiru was an oil-well to her husband and the best gift any man could have. No special gift was given the couple like the man gave t his first daughter. “ Then on the way home after the reception, Emeka began to complain that the bride’s family did not make any contribution to the wedding and the reception and that no special gift was given to them by the wife’s family. When the complaint became too much, the wife asked him whether he married her for love or for her father’s money and right there on their way home, a fight ensued. Emeka beat his new wife to a pulp and her cousin who was a bridesmaid at the wedding and who was also in the car called her father with her mobile phone. The big man came with armed policemen to arrest the groom when the couple were just a few metres to their matrimonial home. The transporter took his daughter back to his house and that marked the end of the marriage. They were never reconciled. In fact, Nkiru never went to Emeka’s house. It was at that point that Nkiru collected all the presents given to her at the wedding by her own family and their friends while she left those given by Emeka’s friends. Today, they are both married to other people.” There are endless stories of woe leading to marital problems and in some cases, death. Sometimes, the problem could be his family or hers. It could be the way she carried herself and as John Mento, a public relations practctioner said, his wife always tied wrapper across her breasts at home and he didn’t like that. He has complained several times and her response had always been that she was not looking for another husband. She apparently didn’t know she was on the verge of losing the one she has. Or it could be his drinking too much and always smelling like a brewery. Then he would stagger home every night and left his clothings and shoes all over the sitting room. Nothing could be more nauseating to a woman than messing up the home she strived so hard to keep. She’d arrange the house and he would scatter them. Men don’t like dirty homes but he was the one scattering everything. Did he want to kill her? Then, she’d give him food and forget to give him water. Didn’t her mother train her well? The argument over money never stopped. She would bring up the issue of money when he was feeling cozy. What kind of woman would do that? Was she trying to hold him to ransom? And there were the kids. Ohhhh. Those brats. He’s too strict and wouldn’t take nonsense from the kids. But she didn’t want him to touch her kids. Of course, he called them brats but they were her brats. Has he ever been pregnant? Would he rather the children run into hiding when they heard the horn of his car? His own mum spoiled him too. Bought him football and toy guns as a child and that’s why he was kicking her around anyway. Her friends! Gosh! Those gossips. He could never stand them. All they talked about were clothes, jewelry and shoes and they were putting ideas into her head. He liked football. She preferred Telemundo. He was a Chelsea fan. She was Arsenal or Man U. She could never stop getting on his nerves. Too many things. And you were boring her! Women! You could never hear the last of what they were capable of doing to a man and so, you had to cut the long story short. So, you killed her. Not that you meant to but she (click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Punch reports that a 25-year-old man, Kabir Ahmed, has been admitted to the Federal Medical Centre in Yola, Adamawa State, after he was allegedly beaten into a coma by some policemen attached to the Doubeli division. The policemen, who were said to be in mufti, had on May 16 at about 10am raided Zanranda Street in the Jimeta area of the state to arrest some suspected smokers. PUNCH Metro learnt that the cops searched the people they met on the street and arrested one of them found with cannabis. They reportedly wanted to apprehend others when Ahmed, who was in front of his house, cautioned the cops not to arrest “innocent” persons. When they declined, he allegedly started arguing with them, leading to his arrest. He was reportedly whisked away in a tricycle to the station, where he was tortured until he became unconscious. An eyewitness, Awal Aminu, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone, said Ahmed, a National Diploma holder in crime management, attempted to challenge “the excesses” of the cops. He said, “The policemen came into the street in a Keke Napep (tricycle). The policemen confronted us and we asked them what we did. They said they came to search us. We asked them to identify themselves because they were in mufti, which they did. They found hemp on a man and arrested him. “They wanted to arrest the rest of us saying we were at the place they found an exhibit. We were on it when Kabiru (Ahmed) came from his house and asked the policemen what our offence was. They dragged him into the Keke Napep and took him to the station.” A resident of the area, Mrs. Afusat Raji, said the policemen, after allegedly beating Ahmed to stupor, called his mother at about 12am that he had been rushed to the FMC. She said, “His mother went to the station that afternoon to beg them; they did not listen. She went with a lawyer to secure his bail, but they refused. It was around 12am that the woman was called from the station that Kabiru was in the hospital. He is still in a critical condition.” A human rights activist, Adamu Ibrahim, said (click on the link below toread more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Punch reports that a 38-year-old trader, Mrs. Caroline Akanwa, has been arrested by the Area C Police Command, Lagos State, for allegedly battering her niece, Chioma Uneneme. PUNCH Metro learnt that Akanwa had in 2015 brought the 10-year-old from Okofia, Anambra State, to the Iponri Police Barracks, where she lived with her police husband and two children. The victim was said to have assisted with the house chores, as well as the management of Akanwa’s recharge cards business. Our correspondent was told that the suspect, however, always flogged Uneneme for every offence till her back was marred with sores. On one of such occasions, the victim was said to have been battered for allegedly selling a recharge card of N1,000 for N970. Uneneme’s teacher at St. Paul Primary School, Iponri, who discovered the scars, reportedly took her to a hospital for treatment. The hospital management, however, insisted on a police extract before going ahead with the treatment. The school was said to have written a petition to the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender on the matter. Officials of the OPD and policewomen from the Area C Police Command were said to have gone to the barracks to arrest Akanwa. In her statement at the OPD, the suspect allegedly confessed to the crime, saying she never meant to inflict injuries on her niece. She said, “Chioma (Uneneme) is my niece. I brought her to Lagos last year and she has been staying with me. I never intended to inflict injuries on her. “Some time ago, a customer came to buy a N1,000 recharge card. She sold it for N970 after the person said he did not have the balance. I spanked her for it. “The latest happened on June 7. My husband and I were not in the house. Somebody came and said my husband’s car was blocking his and he could not move out. “She gave the person my husband’s car key and the man bashed my husband’s car while trying to move it. When I returned and saw what had happened, I beat her. Aside these, she steals from me. I beat her like I beat my children.” The Director of the OPD, Mrs. Omotola Rotimi, told PUNCH Metro that the case was reported by the management of St. Paul Primary School, Iponri. Rotimi, who spoke through the Public Relations Officer of the agency, Adeoba Adeniji-Adele, said the victim’s class teacher discovered the scars on her back and took her to the hospital. She said, “But the hospital management asked for a police extract. The school then decided to write a petition to us. We immediately waded in and reported at the Area C Police Command. Some of our officials and the police went to the barracks to get her arrested. “The initial scars she got from the beating had not healed, yet she decided to inflict more injuries on her. She used her hand, cane, stick and other objects to beat her. People must learn to control their anger. “We have taken custody of the child and she is now in one of our transit homes. “The suspect has two children, including a baby of about six months.” Rotimi said cases of child brutality should not be shielded. It was learnt that 32-year-old Kudirat allegedly tortured the five-year-old for bed-wetting and disobedience. Kudirat and Rachael live in Okeore, Atan Ota, in the Ado-Odo Ota Local Government Area of the state. The mother of one was apprehended after a neighbour reported the alleged torture to the police at the Onipanu division. PUNCH Metro gathered that Rachael’s mother died five years ago when she was three months old. She was said to have been under the care of the suspect, whom her father married a few years after. The Abeokuta, Ogun State indigene, reportedly told the police that she beat Rachael for being “obstinate”, adding that she only used brooms to beat her. She said, “She is my stepdaughter and I have been taking good care of her. But she is very stubborn. If I give an instruction, she won’t follow it. She is bed-wetting and I have cautioned her several times. She is also fond of stealing pieces of meat from the pot of stew. I only beat her with brooms; I don’t use any object on her. I promise not to beat her again.” A police source told our correspondent that the victim had been handed over to her father, Dele, who was made to sign an undertaking that the girl would be properly taken care of thenceforth. The source said, “On May 30, a Good Samaritan reported at the station that one Kudirat Oyediran of Okeore was in the habit of constantly assaulting her stepdaughter, Rachael. As a result, she sustained serious bruises on her back. The mother of the victim died three months after her birth. Her father married the suspect so she could take care of her. THE EX-wife of mass killer Omar Mateen has claimed she was saved from their marriage when her parents realised he had started beating her. Speaking to the Washington Post, Sitora Yusufiy told how she met the gunman online in 2009. Within weeks, the couple decided to wed. Sitora moved to Florida in March that year, where they married and moved into a two-bedroom house in Fort Pierce owned by Mateen’s family. According to Sitora, Mateen was not a particularly religious man when they got married, and did not seem violent. She told how the then-21-year-old “seemed like a normal human being”. Sitora described her ex-husband as a private person who dedicated a big portion of his time to exercise. At the time, Mateen worked at global security firm G4S and owned a single handgun. Soon enough, however, his docile nature shifted. “He was not a stable person,” Sitora told the Post. “He beat me. He would just come home and start beating me up because the laundry wasn’t finished or something like that.” When Sitora’s parents found out about Mateen’s violent tendencies mere months after the wedding, they stepped in to rescue her from her husband. “They literally saved my life,” she insisted. Sitora had not contacted Mateen since the pair finalised their divorce five years ago in 2011. Despite this, she is finding it hard to come to terms with the news of Mateen’s horrific actions. Sitora said: “I am still processing. I am definitely lucky.” Since divorcing Sitora, Mateen remarried Noor Zahi Salman and had a son. The pair were registered as married in 2013 and have a son born in 2012. Salman is registered as living at the same St Lucie address as her killer spouse. Punch reports that there was confusion in the Ikeja area of Lagos State on Friday after some officers of the Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit, Ikeja, allegedly attacked a magistrate, Lekan Aka-Bashorun, for impounding their vehicles. PUNCH Metro learnt that the customs officers allegedly slapped Aka-Bashorun, while two policemen and two paramilitary officials attached to the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit, were also beaten up. It was gathered that court exhibits and recording gadgets were also allegedly damaged by the customs officials, who reportedly claimed that their vehicles could not be impounded by the Lagos State Mobile Court. PUNCH Metro learnt that on Friday around 1pm, the task force officials with the mobile court went to Allen Avenue, Ikeja, to impound vehicles caught violating traffic laws. The officials were said to have arrived at the NCS, FOU headquarters, Ikeja, where some private cars were reportedly parked along the walkways. Our correspondent learnt that as the mobile court officials impounded the vehicles, some customs officials allegedly barricaded the highway with stones and tyres. The customs officers, who were said to have forcefully removed the number plates from the impounded vehicles, allegedly hit the magistrate for ordering that the vehicles be impounded. A witness, who gave his name only as Ibrahim, alleged that two mobile phones belonging to the officials were seized by the customs officers during the rampage. He said, “It was around a car wash area. To show that it was wrong to park vehicles by the walkway, there was also a ‘No parking’ sign, put there by the customs authorities. But some vehicles were parked there. The state mobile court impounded the vehicles. “But the customs men trooped out and blocked the highway with stones and tyres. They beat up the court officials. One of them slapped the magistrate. They removed the number plates of the impounded vehicles. They also took two mobile phones. A camera, which was being used to record the scene, was taken away.” PUNCH Metro learnt that two customs officers were arrested by the police during the affray, while officials of the mobile court were quickly taken away to safety. The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Sunday said it had arrested a 56-year-old Boko Haram kingpin in the Aski Uba Local Government Area of Borno State. The Commandant of the NSCDC in Borno State, Mr. Ibrahim Abdullahi, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Maiduguri. Abdullahi said the suspect was apprehended at Mussa village last week. “Our men have made remarkable progress by arresting a Boko Haram kingpin. “The notorious kingpin was said to be a recruiter as well as supplier of arms and IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) to the Boko Haram terrorists. “He confessed that his three children were also arrowheads of the Boko Haram sect,’’ he said. Abdullahi added that the command had since handed over the suspect to the Army for further investigation. Meanwhile, the Federal Government has signed a tripartite agreement with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees and the Republic of Cameroon for the return of Nigerian refugees who had fled to Cameroon for safety and are currently taking refuge in the neighbouring country. According to the government, Nigerian refugees in Cameroon are staying there voluntarily and in a dignified manner, adding that there are about 80,000 displaced Nigerians currently taking refuge the country. The Director-General, National Emergency Management Agency, Sani Sidi, disclosed this when the African Union Humanitarian Mission, led by the Commissioner of Political Affairs, Dr. Aisha Abdullahi, visited the headquarters of NEMA in Abuja. Sidi, in a statement by the agency’s Senior Information Officer, Mr. Sani Datti, on Sunday, stated that the Federal Government had been making efforts to cater for all the basic needs of the affected refugees. He explained that the Federal Government as well as the governments of states affected by the insurgency, United Nations Organisations, International non-Governmental Organisations and some private sector players, had done a lot in the past four years to manage the large number of Internally Displaced Persons in the North-East. “We have moved from the emergency response stage to recovery and resettlement of the IDPs,” he said. Sidi urged the visiting commissioner to use her offices at the African Union to secure more assistance for the affected persons and the states. <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Punch reports that former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday said his intention during his regime was to develop the nation’s natural gas for vehicles to use and reduce dependence on imported petrol. Obasanjo said he gave out licences to companies in a bid to achieve this, adding that by now, 50 per cent of the vehicles in the country should have been running on gas. The former President stated these during a courtesy visit by the management of Nipco Plc to him at his Presidential Hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State. In 2006, the Obasanjo administration gave out licences to three companies, Nipco Plc, Contact Global and Global Steel, for the development of Compressed Natural Gas for vehicles. But it was gathered that only Nipco, which later went into a partnership with the Nigeria Gas Company to form Green Gas Limited, had invested significantly in the project since then. While reacting to comments by the Managing Director, Nipco, Mr. Venkataraman Venkatapathy, Obasanjo said, “When I gave the licence in my time, the idea was to use what we had and by now, we could have put half of all the vehicles on gas.” Venkatapathy had earlier said the replacement of petrol by the CNG would save Nigeria the much-needed foreign exchange on importation of petrol. He said, “The CNG is a superior auto fuel alternative to liquid fuels mainly petrol and diesel, specifically for countries like Nigeria, which is blessed with abundant (over 186 trillion cubic feet) availability of natural gas that remains untapped. “To replace 20 per cent of the current petrol consumption of Nigeria, natural gas required is less than five per cent of the total domestic gas consumed currently and less than one per cent of the current gas production. Foreign exchange saved will be close to $2bn.” According to him, in Benin City, Edo State, over 4,000 vehicles run on the CNG which resulted in replacing 20 million litres of petrol from 2012 to 2015 and forex savings of over $9m. He said Green Gas had developed nine operational CNG stations, with three stations under completion and five under construction. A former Special Assistant on Petroleum Resources to President Obasanjo, Dr. Muhammed Ibrahim, who was on the Nipco team, said, “I was one of the team members when President Obasanjo was in office in 2006 that initiated the full concept of development of gas for vehicles and other applications in the country. It was during his regime that President Obasanjo awarded three licences to three companies to invest in the promotion and diffusion of Compressed Natural Gas for vehicular application in the country. “But because of the capital-intensive and high-tech nature of the project, only one company today after 10 years has invested millions of dollars in the project such that the entire Benin City is (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Residents of Oke Ota community in the Ibeshe, Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Thursday blocked the Ibeshe Road to protest against the rape and killing of a Ghanaian resident, Grace Obinna, by a man identified simply as Badoo. PUNCH Metro learnt that apart from 27-year-old Obinna, Badoo had raped two other women in the area, cutting them with knives afterwards. Our correspondent learnt that Badoo, who sneaked into women’s apartments only at night, had also struck in Ilemeren, Abule, Oluwoye, Ibeshe Titun, and other communities around Oke Ota. It was gathered that the attack on Obinna, a mother of one, which occurred around 1am on Sunday, was Badoo’s latest, which had forced other women to relocate to houses outside the community. PUNCH Metro gathered that on Sunday, Badoo broke the window into Obinna’s apartment and went into the room of the victim while her husband was away. The assailant was said to have raped Obinna and hit her head with weapons. It was learnt that when neighbours and local vigilance group members, who heard the victim’s cries, got to the room, the man had fled, while Obinna and her baby were in a pool of blood. Our correspondent gathered that the Ghanaian was rushed to two hospitals, but was rejected. She was confirmed dead at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja. Our correspondent learnt that the matter was reported at the Ipakodo Police Division and the residents added that the suspect had threatened to wreak more havoc in the community. PUNCH Metro learnt that the panic prompted the Thursday’s protest, as residents blocked the Ibeshe Road and demanded that security agencies mobilise to the area to arrest the suspect. When our correspondent arrived at the scene, the residents, including about 200 women, were seen holding leaves and singing solidarity songs. The Chairman of the landlords’ association, Pastor Abayomi Adelakun, told PUNCH Metro that the man attempted to rape an 86-year-old woman in the community a week before the Ghanaian fell victim. He said, “Two weeks ago, he came to Oke Ota and attacked an 86-year-old grandma. He attempted to rape her, but when she resisted, he injured her in the nose. The woman was rushed to a hospital. She survived the attack. “On Sunday, around 1am, I was called by a security man that Badoo had raped and brutalised Grace (Obinna), who was a teacher with a nine-month-old baby. When we got to the scene, I could not recognise the lady again. All her teeth had been removed; she was in a pool of blood. She was rejected at two hospitals, but confirmed dead at LASUTH. “Badoo forces himself into women’s rooms, rapes and brutalises them if they resist. He was doing that in neighbouring communities and has now come to Oke Ota.” A resident, who gave her name only as Adenike, said Badoo usually sneaked into women’s apartments naked. She said, “We do not know the power this man is using. He does not steal; he only sneaks into women’s rooms and rapes them. After the act, he uses a handkerchief to (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>
