Sefiya, without doubt, is a talented and sexy singer, who has continually shown that she is hungry for greatness. The light-skinned singer ended 2015 by releasing her song titled Mumu Button. In a chat with Potpourri, she reveals what inspired the song and why she considers herself a reincarnation of a sexy goddess. “We have that one person in our life who knows how to make us melt emotionally. What such people do is they seem to possess the ability to press a button and literally we melt. With that line of thought, I decided to put together the song Mumu button. I cannot categorically say I am a sex symbol, it’s all about how fans perceive you. But if they have been saying that, what can I say differently? Sefiya is a reincarnation of the sexy goddess, Venus.” <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 33-year-old security man, Freedom Barryneh, for allegedly raping his neigbour’s daughter, aged eight. The incident reportedly happened on Akali Street, in the Ajegunle area of Lagos State after the victim, Sandra (pseudonym), approached the suspect and requested N10 from him to buy biscuit. Punch learnt that after giving her the money, Barryneh, who was watching a pornographic film when the minor entered his apartment, persuaded her to stay with him. While the movie was on, he allegedly told Sandra to UnCloth but she declined, saying her mother would beat her for doing so. The suspect, however, allegedly resorted to force and allegedly dragged her into bed and raped her. Our correspondent gathered that Sandra, who was warned by the suspected rapist not to disclose the act to anybody, eventually opened up to her mother when she began to feel pains in her private parts. The victim said, “I asked Mr. Freedom (Barryneh) to give me N10 to buy biscuit and he did. He took me inside his room. He was watching one video that was showing naked men and women. He asked me to remove my clothes, but I said my mother would beat me. He pushed me and put me on his bed. He removed my clothes and put his thing inside my private parts. I was afraid of telling my mother.” Her mother, identified only as Ellen, reported the incident at the Ajegunle Police Division which led to the suspect’s arrest on March 3. PUNCH Metro saw that the results of medical tests conducted on the girl at the Ajeromi General Hospital, Lagos, stated, “Hymen broken with bruises around the infroitus.” The result, which was signed by one Dr I.A. Dauda, also stated that she suffered from “whitish foul smelling vaginal discharge.” Barryneh, who hails from Rivers State, admitted giving the girl N10 to buy biscuit, but denied raping her. He added that the allegation was an attempt to blackmail him. He said, “I work with a private security outfit. She and her friends were playing when she came to me that she needed N10 to buy biscuit. She stood somewhere in my room waiting for the money. I was watching a love movie titled, ‘Naked Weapon’. It involved sex. I was surprised when her mother reported at the station that I raped her daughter. I never had sex with the girl. I only gave her the money.” A police prosecutor, Woman Sergeant Francisca Okere, brought Barryneh before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court on two counts of rape. Okere told the court that the offence contravened sections 137 and 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The charges read in part, “That you, Freedom Barryneh, sometime in August 2015, at about 14.30 hours on Akali Street, Ajegunle, Apapa, Lagos, in the Apapa Magisterial District, did penetrate sexually (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Organised Labour, yesterday, raised alarm that the food, beverage and tobacco sector of the nation’s economy was on the verge of shutting down and that over three million jobs were at risk due to the inability of companies to source foreign exchange to import raw material for operations. Already, leading companies in the sector, such as Nigerian Flour Mills, Nigerian Breweries Limited, Guinness Plc, Nigerian Bottling Company, 7-UP Bottling Company Plc, Friesland Campina Wamco Plc, among others, have written to labour for discussions on retrenchment of workers. In the last three months, no fewer than 1,500 workers had been sacked in the sector as employers seek ways of coping with foreign exchange crisis, among other challenges. At a briefing in Lagos, leaders of Food, Beverage and Tobacco Senior Staff Association, FOBTOB, called on government to intervene to save the industry and over three million jobs. President of FOBTOB, Quadri Olaleye, claimed that employers in the sector had devised every opportunity to sack workers, adding that between the 2012 and the first half of 2015, over 3,000 workers were sacked in the guise of re-engineering, restructuring, right sizing, downsizing, redundancy and re-organisation. He lamented that over the years, the same excuse of difficult business terrain, dwindling profit, irregular and insufficient power supply, and so on had been given. He said: “The current situation has reached a pathetic level, because it seems all the employers in our sector are in competition with each other on who can lay off the most workers. “Every company is now calling for a downsizing of the workforce, and this time under the guise of lack of foreign exchange due to the Federal Government’s recent policy on foreign exchange. “We are aware that not all the raw materials used in our industry can be sourced locally. Where they can be found, they are mostly not available in commercial quantity. “That is why it is imperative that the government, through the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, takes a second look at the policy on foreign exchange to avoid shutting down the companies in our industry.” According to him, companies mostly hit by the crisis are intellectually lazy to engage in research development on alternative sources of raw materials. <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Daily Sun reports that detectives at the La¬gos State Police Command, Ikeja have interrogated the Queen’s College, Yaba, teacher, Mr. Olaseni Osifala, alleged of harassing a JSS2 female student in the night. Police source told our cor¬respondent that the teacher was quizzed for over 13 hours from Tuesday evening to early morning of yesterday. The detectives told Mr. Osifala of the source of the petition. As at the time of filling this report, Mr. Osifala was still at the police command waiting for another round of interrogation on the issue. According to the source, during the interrogation, the detectives told him that there were several groups interest¬ed in the case prompting the teacher to ask for the woman who raised the alarm. During his interrogation yesterday, the detectives informed him of the source of the petition, asked him what he knew about the allegation which he denied and the teacher demanded to see the woman who raised the alarm of her daughter being harassed. On Monday, Mr. Osifala was invited with the Princi¬pal, Dr. Lami Amodu to the police command for ques¬tioning and was with his in¬terrogators till 7.00pm after he had written a statement. The Principal, Mrs. Amo¬du after writing her state¬ment was asked to go while Mr. Osifala was made to stay behind for further question¬ing before being asked to go home around 7pm and was directed to report early the next day. Detectives asked him to report back on Tuesday morning which he did, he was released and summoned again in the afternoon to an¬swer more questions. The allegation took a new twist yesterday as some staff of the college were invited to write statement and inter¬rogated later on what they knew about the harassment. There is an easy calm in the college following the revelation that the Old Girls Association of Queen’s College was behind the predicament of Mr. Osifala. The association was said to have sent the petition to the police command indicting the teacher. It was gathered that the woman who accused the teacher of harassing her daughter at the female hostel , has not shown up at the police command since Monday. A source at the college told our correspondent that the Principal, Mrs. Amodu has been invited by the Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja, over the issue. Several calls to her line were not answered but a staff at the college said the principal left Abuja yesterday for Lagos after briefing ministry staff of the situation. The source confirmed a panel had been set up by the ministry. The Parents – Teachers Association (PTA) of the college on Monday said no member of the body had brought the issue to the attention of the PTA and described the woman as faceless. The Federal Government on Wednesday said it has stepped up security at all its airports following Tues¬day’s terrorists attack on Brussels airport in Belgium. Spokesperson for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Yakubu Dati, told journalists that in addition to police, fresh scanners and sniffer dogs have been deployed to assist in detecting any form of threat or sabotage of the airports in the country. According to him, aside security measures, FAAN had also taken the necessary operational measures in all airports to ensure hitch-free passage of passengers and cargo during the forthcoming Easter break. “We will not leave any stone unturned to ensure maximum security at the airports especially with the Easter celebrations around the corner,” Dati said while condemning the attacks at Belgium airport. “Sniffer dogs have been deployed to airports in conjunction with the Nigerian Police. And all the body scanners and Close Circuit Television gadgets that we have are now operational and beaming activities of all the airports live. The CCTV cameras mounted around the airports’ vicinity is to aid the joint security efforts,” he added. <[url; http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Daily Sun reports that hopes of speedy resolution to the current fuel scarcity was yesterday dashed as the Minister of State for Petroleum, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu, disclosed that the situation will linger for the next two months. Kachikwu said it was only magic that filling stations were still dispensing fuel to Nigerians. Kachikwu who is also the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), stated this while respond¬ing to questions from State House Correspondents after he led a team of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) to meet President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa. The Minister blamed lack of reserves for the fuel scarcity, saying plans were on ground to reserve all refined products from Nigeria’s refineries, while NNPC will go back to importing only the capacity it can while the rest would be left to the oil majors as part of strategies to ease queues at filling stations. Kachikwu was merely re¬stating the position of stake¬holders in the petroleum downstream sector, who only last week painted a grim pic¬ture of fuel supply situation in the country. The stakeholders had at a ‘Business Clinic’ organised by downstream oil and gas firms and the Lagos Cham¬ber of Commerce and Indus¬try (LCCI), warned that Nigeria’s lingering fuel supply crisis may persist till the third quarter of 2016. Both operators and some regulators of the industry who spoke at the event gave a very worrisome outlook for the industry. They maintained that un¬less the Federal Government summoned the courage to deregulate the downstream petroleum industry, an end to fuel shortages and the attendant high cost across the various states of the country, was nowhere near in sight. He said that the man was arrested two days ago at night near Polo Ground in Katsina by a police patrol team. ‘’Our policemen on patrol went to the area and saw a motorcycle parked. ‘’Our officers became suspicious, while searching the area, they cited the man behind a wall naked making love to a horse. ‘’It is unfortunate for a human being to make love to an animal,’’ he said. Abdullahi further said that the police recently arrested four persons over alleged drug abuse and trafficking. Regina Askia, former Nollywood diva wants to know where the change promised by President Muhammadu Buhari is taking place. On her FacebookShare and Twitter handle, the lady who’s now a nurse domiciled in the United States of America insists concerned citizens in the Diaspora are taking tab of the happenstances. Her lamentation partly reads: “Thank you for all your effort at containing the corruption in Nigeria however unpopular. Nigerians elected you through serious acrimony, loosing several lives and facing deadly unrest but they chose you. Though you are from the North of OUR country you are president of all. How is it that violence and deaths still hold sway? “My hope and prayer was that on your ascension you would deploy our military with fiat and alacrity armed to the teeth and silence or at least contain Boko Haram. My prayer was that as a seasoned General, you would not only flush out kingpins and barons but retrieve the loot as you napped them one after the other but we see them working for you. “Maybe I don’t fully understand how these things work but I know one truth ‘Women with babies on their back should not be slaughtered in their farms while out there striving to make ends meet.’ They say you did not send a condolence message to comfort the families but rather you are requesting for cattle routes for the herds men? “There is fighting in Lagos and vicinities? Kidnappers are even negotiating exchange rates, hiking ransoms and collecting change over the victims, little girls are being kidnapped from southern states and sold off in marriage to old men off north? Is it okay to encourage pedophilia in the name of tradition?” Regina said (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

• Electricity workers ground country’s grid supply • Why we called off strike – Oil workers Businesses and commercial activities in Nigeria’s small scale industry nationwide were on Thursday grounded as the record fall in power supply was worsened by the crash in the supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) also known as fuel. While the slide in electricity generation to a dismal level of 1,580.6 Megawatt (MW) continued to subject millions of Nigerians to longer spells of darkness, the shutdown of facilities of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) by oil workers yesterday toughen the agony of fuel scarcity, currently rocking the country. The oil workers called off the two-day old strike yesterday. Like the oil workers who shut down the oil industry for two days due to the alleged unbundling of the NNPC, the electricity workers were said to have also inflicted partial system collapse on the grid. Rising under the auspices of the Nigerian Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), the electricity workers made good their threat to create a clog in the wheel of electricity generation and supply due to the alleged sack of 400 staff by the management of Ikeja Electric (IE) formerly known as Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) Figures from the website of the Nigerian Systems Operations Department of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on Thursday showed that the country was generating a mere 1,580.6MW which was distributed to the 11 electricity distribution companies (DISCOs). The past few weeks have recorded a lot of instability in the power generation due to system failures and acts of vandalism across the country, leading to attempts at rationing by distribution companies. New Telegraph gathered that the epileptic supply has been deeply impacting on commercial and domestic activities. The small scale business owners and consumers continued to groan under intense heat and business collapse, while power generation through private arrangement has been blighted by the fuel scarcity. “I have been looking for fuel since 5a.m. I got here and have been on a queue at this filling station since 6:30a.m. this morning. Up till 11a.m., we have not been able to get fuel at least five litres to power generator for my shop,” a welder who simply identified himself as Waheed told New Telegraph at Rakab filling station in Lafenwa, Ayobo Lagos State. His view was corroborated by Mrs. Iyabo Adelamo, who was forced to buy fuel at N200 per litre from the black market in Iyana -Ipaja for her petty pepper grinding machine. “I could not work at all yesterday. Today, I have to buy petrol from at the Iyana- Ipaja at the rate of N200 per litre,” she said. “We were told that electricity and oil workers were on strike, no light, no fuel, and no money because our businesses are the worst hit by this situation,” she added. According to the TCN’s System Operations, the lower generation automatically degenerated into lower power allocation to the 11 electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) across the country. The power allocation data showed that Ikeja received 234.09 MW; Abuja, 181.77MW; Eko, 173.87MW; Benin, 142.25MW; Enugu, 142.25MW; Ibadan 205.48; Jos, 86.93MW; Kano, 126.45MW; Kaduna, 126.45MW; Port Harcourt, 102.74MW and Yola got 55.32MW accordingly. The drop in power generation started last week after the nation recorded about 4200MW on daily average, from the peak generation of 5074MW on February 3. The Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors (ANED) had estimated the nation’s electricity demand at 160,000MW, with the national grid managing a capacity of 6,020MW. But the Assistant General Manager (Public Affairs), TCN, Clement Ezeolisah, said there was no system collapse, attributing the generation slide to the ongoing labour dispute in the power sector. “We have not recorded any system collapse since the beginning of 2016, and all hands are on deck to keep it that way,” he said. Organised Private Sector (OPS) has warned the Federal Government to intervene in the ongoing economic crisis in the country, saying that the crisis over fuel and energy is taking 65 per cent of their profits every year. National President, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), Chief Frank Jacobs, told New Telegraph that manufacturers operating in the country are passing through tough times due to the harsh economic environment. He said that the amount of money spends on Automotive Gas Oil runs into billions of naira due to the irregular power supply in the country. “Erratic power supply and billions spend on AGO are not acceptable as they are impeding growth of business,” the MAN president said. Chairman, Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Small and Medium Scale Enterprise Group (SMEG), John Kachikwu, in a chat with New Telegraph yesterday, said that manufacturers were spending billions of naira on AGO to power their generating sets. He said that many manufacturers were experiencing difficulties in their businesses due to the harsh operating environment caused by government’s economic policies. “It is a bit of a terrible situation now for manufacturers operating in Nigeria because in the short run, we are going to retrench staff soon. We are going to (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

-Tenebe bows out, Adamu steps in It is no longer news that the federal government of Nigeria announced the removal of 13 vice chancellors of some of its universities including that of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). The news, however, is that it is Professor Abdalla Uba Adamu, a quintessential academic at Bayero University that has stepped in to replace Professor Vincent Ado Tenebe, who succeeded the pioneer vice chancellor of the institution, Professor Olugbemiro Jegede, in October 2010. Professor Adamu holds two professorships in Science Education and Curriculum Development (1997) as well as Media and Cultural Communication (2012). Until this new appointment was a faculty at the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Bayero University, Kano. At the Handing Over Ceremony on Tuesday, the former helmsman of the West Africa’s only single mode Open and Distance Learning (ODL) institution, Professor Vincent Tenebe, described his successor, Professor Abdalla Adamu, as a digital professor and called on the governing council, senate, management, staff and students of the university to accord the new vice chancellor unalloyed support and cooperation. Punch reports that a 28-year old woman, Sakirat Rasaq, was delivered of five babies (three boys and two girls) at the University College Hospital, Ibadan on Monday. The quintuplets were born at hospital’s special-care baby unit. Father of the babies, Alfa Yusuf Ewenje, 32, said he was a full-time Islamic cleric, adding that his wife was referred to the UCH from Adeoyo State Hospital, Ibadan. He said, “We realised that Allah was going to bless us with something special when my wife had a scan after three months of the pregnancy. “At that point, we knew she was carrying five babies in her womb. After the scan was done, we went to Adeoyo State Hospital from Apete Medical Centre, Apete, Ibadan, where she first registered for antenatal care. “At Adeoyo hospital, the doctor and nurses said it was better for us to go to the UCH, where there is enough equipment and personnel to deal with such case. “They said it was our best option. The babies arrived around 8.45am on Monday and they are all in perfect health,” he added. The couple, who already had two children – Umoor (5) and Mistura (3) – lives in the Ijokodo area of Ibadan. Although Ewenje expressed happiness at the birth of the babies, he said he would need help from well-meaning Nigerians and the Oyo State Government to cater for his large family. He said, “The situation we found ourselves has exhausted our savings and with five additional children to our family, I need help to feed this family. “My dream is for them to be leaders in this country, so that no matter my present situation, people will know them for good. “Though, I am greatly handicapped now because I only make living out of my Quranic teaching class, I want well-meaning people to come to my aid. “I am using this medium to appeal to the Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, and his wife, Florence, Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, and the Federal Government to come to my aid so that my joy won’t turn sour.” <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

IF your love interest tilts their head to the right while kissing you, the chances are they’re into you. Body language can tell you a lot about a person’s feelings, but it’s not always clear whether or not they have romantic intentions. A study from the University of Saskatchewan, in Canada, might save you the embarrassment of chasing someone who has you friend-zoned. Leaders of research, Jennifer Sedgewick and Lorin Elias, analysed over 500 pictures of people kissing. Images included parents kissing children, friends saying goodbye to each other and couples intimately smooching. Analysing the photos allowed researchers to establish whether couples used a particular type of body language while snogging. The study argues: “Our research demonstrated the novel finding that turning bias was modulated by the context of the kiss, as a leftward directionality was observed for the parental context and a reversed rightward bias for romantic kissing.” In more intimate situations, the (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele is a year older today, Sunday, February 14, 2016. He started heading church at the age of 16 and has made tremendous successes in the last 39 years in that he now has churches in Nigeria, Europe and the United States. Ayodele, who prefers to be best called “servant of the most high God” as against primate, bishop or a general overseer, did not start off as white garment church man as he was born into the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Idi-Oro, Mushin, Lagos where his father was a front runner and which the Junior Ayodele attended until 1972. He had his primary and secondary education in LCC and MTC, both in Mushin, during the days of morning and afternoon school system in Lagos. He then moved to Annunciation Grammar School, Ikere-Ekiti and, from there, to the Nigerian College of Aviation, Zaria, after which he joined the then Okada Airlines owned by Chief Gabriel Igbinedion. Ayodele had been an SU, Deeper Life, gospel church man and had served as reverend father in Catholic Church. He had also been to other churches like Methodist, Anglican, Celestial, Cherubim and Seraphim. A church administrator, church manager, counsellor, evangelist, apostle and a prophet, the founder of Inri Evangelical and Spiritual Church Worldwide has no less than 250,000 who have benefited from his micro-credit initiative scheme for widows and has empowered over one thousand youths while assisting his church members to own properties. An instance is where he bought a car of about a million naira and sold it to a member for N20,000. Recently, he built 10 units of self-contained apartments worth N250,000 per rent and gave them out to less privileged members of his church at one thousand per month. He has also so much invested in education, which is why he donated gifts to schools, both public and private, on the occasion of his birthday this year. His is the first white garment church to have satellite television called Golden TV. In this interview, he speaks on his life, step mother, church and his warnings to the nations as instructed by God. Excerpts: Since over 39 years that you have been in the Lord’s vineyard, what have been your major challenges and consolations? I don’t believe in challenges. Everything I have seen on earth since my days in the Lord’s vineyard is just experience, not any challenge. Working for God has given me a wide experience to understand what life is all about and to take life easy. And from my experiences, I teach a lot of people. I must confess to you that if I did not work in the Lord’s vineyard I might have died. My plan was to be a military man, a lawyer or a journalist. Honestly, I must say that it is a privilege and honour that God called me to work in His vineyard and I so much appreciate God that, if I would ever come again, I want to work as a prophet of God. And, on the strength of God, I want to serve people. I don’t want people to serve me or take me the way people take pastors. How do people take pastors which you don’t want and how should a pastor carry himself? Primate-Ayodele Primate-Ayodele A pastor must be humble. Yes, because you are anointed of God people want to respect you and they want to do anything to honour you. I don’t feel comfortable to see people kneeling down for me. I am not God; so that they don’t need to worship me. This is just a gift from God that any other person can have. Yes, people kneel down in admiration of you but they are only respecting the anointing in you. I appreciate my church members and I am more comfortable relating with them at their own level. I can even hold you in the hand so that you feel free and happy. It is not only when you kneel down that you respect me. You may be a traitor and still kneel down for me. I want a respect that is transparent and sincere. I wasn’t born as primate. It was in the Lord’s vineyard that they started calling me primate. Some people call me doctor; in fact different titles, bishop and so on. My own is to humble myself before God and I am human. Just call me the Servant of God. You can even call me Brother Ayodele, I don’t mind because it has no value to me. So, I don’t want to believe in challenges as problems. They only end up giving you strength and courage in order to forge ahead. The work of God has made me to have a lot of experiences and I thank Him for having made me to be one of the servants that work for Him. Could you share with us some of your experiences in life, even outside the Lord’s vineyard? At the age of 10, I started doing hard labour but hard labour, is not punishment but for you to grow strong. Like at that age, I would wake up very early, about five o’clock in the morning, during harmattan and start going to farm. Today you call that punishment. And that is why I owe a very huge service to my step mother because I was trained and brought up by my father and step mother. My step mother did so well in my upbringing. What happened to your mother? My mother died when I was age 10 and my step mother took over from there and taught me every good thing that growing up child needed to know about life. It is very rare to have such a step mother. She taught me to be strong, which some people saw as punishment but it was not. My step mother was a woman like man, very courageous. She is still alive. Now that you are celebrating your birthday? I don’t believe in birthday celebration. Birthday is a day for reflection and appreciating God and I say, ‘God, I thank you for making me what I am today. It is a day you sit down to thank God, your parents, those who have added value to your life and even those who have not added value to your life. How about your prophecies, considering your birthday in retrospect? I didn’t know that I would be a man of God. I started making prophecies at the age of 16, precisely to the nations and God started blessing me at age 18. I don’t know the magnitude of what God has done for me but I am just thanking Him and appreciating my wife, my children, my church, my friends and my friends in the media. Prophecy is what God uses you for and not you using yourself for. So, when my prophecies that are negative which I have warned against come to pass, I am not always happy. For instance, there was a train accident in Germany and there was a boat tragedy, both of which we spoke about on November 23. They don’t make me happy. Devaluation of Naira, we said it much earlier and, states breaking down economically, we said it ahead of time. And we said people should seek the face of God to avert the misfortunes. See the case of Rivers and Akwa Ibom states. When they sought the face of God, see how it went with them. Like Sunday Oliseh is now having problem with NFF whereas, in the beginning, we said he would have challenges that might frustrate his efforts. He didn’t take it serious. Taking the Super Eagles to AFCON, this may not be the best time for the team. Oliseh will have to seek the face of God, otherwise, he will be dismissed from the Super Eagles. When we said pray so we don’t lose anybody in the NFF, it didn’t mean a message of doom. What do we do should be the next thing. You can call your pastor or your Imam that is the warning that has been sent to me, please come and pray for us. What matters most is that you must seek the face of God. See the recent helicopter crash in Lagos, we said it that we should pray and we thank God it didn’t claim lives. When a prophet warns people, let them take heed. Warning is not to create panic, to alert you danger so as to avert it. In my first interview with you, you said Nigerian leaders were failing because they moved away from God. Is that still the situation now? They are still facing that challenge now. Buhari should seek the face the of God for him to run his government successfully because there are challenges ahead for him and his second term will be faced with a lot of challenges. That is why I have to warn (Abubakar) Atiku that he must take precautions and seek the face of God before he takes any (political) step, otherwise, he will be rubbished. Also, Tambuwal and el-Rufai should seek the face of God before doing anything pertaining to 2019. There are a lot of things that will happen ahead of 2019 but national unity must not be taken for granted. The unity of Nigeria is paramount at this time because issues will come up. Our leaders fail to listen because they are deceived by many pastors. I smile when some people (pastors) talk about an issue which happens when there are already signs that that issue would come up. Go and check our records, past and present, we give warnings two, three, four years ahead. Some people want to trouble Buhari’s government and he has to be steadfast on the issue of the economy. There is going to be more retrenchment this year and so, Buhari needs to take a very bold step and, again, he needs divine intervention to get things right. APC needs to seek divine intervention and take caution because elements that will crack the party have infiltrated it. Journalists too need prayers. I told you about the Nollywood artistes which is what is happening now. Senators need prayers and the Senate President must not ignore my warnings. He needs to seek the face of God because enemies are running after his bright ambition. People who look out for your warnings, what message do you have for them this year? Generally, we need prayers for President Muhammadu Buhari because he has genuine mission. Jonathan also had genuine mission but he didn’t prepare for presidency. But he had done what no Nigerian leader had ever done before. What was that? For an incumbent President to leave power just like that? It has not happened before in Nigeria. Even when he knew that he was defeated by popular votes? Yeah. But he could have turned things around. He had the pencil and the eraser. Nobody could question him. Do you agree that God used Jonathan to save Nigeria? Yes. Nigeria was at the verge of disintegration and you know all the things that had been said about Nigeria breaking. It was not saved by soothsayers or anybody. No. It is God that used him to save Nigeria and so, we should be grateful to Jonathan for being able to avert crisis that could put Nigeria asunder. It is difficult to see somebody like that, a Nigerian who would vacate the seat peacefully the way he did. Are you judging? I am not here to judge anybody. But nobody is a saint. It was God that masterminded all that Jonathan did during the election that led to the peaceful transition. Holy Spirit moved Jonathan to surrender because, if he said he would not surrender, Nigeria would not be the same today as we would be in crisis. So, we must salute his courage. So, Buhari also must learn from his own past experiences, losing elections three times and, at 73, God now made him President. For Nigerians, their role is to be prayerful. <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

THE body of a young woman has been found dead inside an "abandoned" car that supermarket workers ignored for at least three months. Employees at a California branch of Walmart assumed the silver Volkswagen Jetta had simply been forgotten by its owner. This week somebody finally peered through the tinted glass - only to spot the body of 22-year-old Lauren Jessie Moss. Police say the tinted glass and a sunshade over the windscreen made it difficult for passers-by to see into the vehicle. Trying to track Ms Moss' final movements, investigators checked the supermarket's security camera footage, which only goes back to the end of December. The car was already parked in the car park in the earliest recorded clip, suggesting it had been there for several months. Ms Moss' sister told reporters that Lauren left a suicide note behind for family and a drug needle was found in the vehicle. She had suddenly left a rehab facility, the station reports. Police have performed an autopsy, but a cause of death has yet to be determined. Officers suspect the woman’s death was a suicide but continue to wait for the results of toxicology reports. <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

A retired radiologist and the eldest child of late Ologbosere of Warri Kingdom, Chief O. N. Rewane, was yesterday burnt to death in an early morning fire in Lagos. The cause of the fire that killed the 75-year-old Dr. Irene Damola (nee Rewane) at her 5, Tola Adewunmi Street, Maryland, Lagos residence, could not be ascertained at press time. Vanguard gathered that the fire started from her bedroom in the duplex occupied by her and a domestic staff. Eyewitnesses said smoke was noticed upstairs at midnight, following which security men raised alarm. Efforts by the private guards in the street to put out the fire failed. Eyewitnesses said: “Some people even attempted to move in to rescue Dr. Damola, but the entrance door was locked. “The young lady living with her later opened the door. By the time the fire was put out by the fire service men, she had been burnt to death.” Lagos State Fire Service Director, Mr. Rasaq Fadipe, said the fire service got to the scene at about 4.02a.m. as soon as they got the information and tried to save the lives of the occupants. He said: “It is a five-bedroom apartment. The woman, Dr. Irene Damola, lives upstairs, while the young lady staying with her lives downstairs. The fire started from her bedroom. “She made efforts to escape, but the fire caught up with her at the door of her bedroom, where my men met her dead. “We were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the ground floor. The corpse was handed over to policemen from Anthony Village Division.” Late Dr. Damola retired as a radiologist in Saudi Arabia before returning to Nigeria. She also worked at Lagos University Hospital, LUTH. <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has fired back at those criticising him following Nigeria’s first round exit at the Rwanda 2016 African Nations Championship. The former Nigeria captain has come under heavy criticism from fans and the media, with some calling for the Nigeria Football Federation to replace him with “an experienced coach”. In a video update on his website on Sunday, the former Ajax midfielder says he does not deserve the brickbats being hurled at him ever since the Eagles exited Rwanda 2016. Oliseh says the Nigeria Football Federation reserves the right to terminate his contract if they are not satisfied with his performance. He said, “I didn’t beg for this job, I didn’t even want this job. I refused it twice and it took the intervention of a highly respected friend of mine, who was in government, for me to concede and take this job. I took it not to serve special interests. I took it to serve Nigerians, and if there’s one thing I know that my people know, forget the critics, is that I am patriotic and I do it because I love my nation because the nation in so many ways has made me what I am and at the same time, this is where I belong.” The Tunisia ’94 Africa Cup of Nations winner added, “I want to speak on the insanity that has befallen some of our national team critics. “I call it insanity because you must be insane to start seeking a plebiscite on the future of the national team coach of Nigeria because we lost CHAN. With all due respect, CHAN is the least of important tournament in the calendar of CAF and it is a tournament that measures the strengths of leagues against one another. This is because you can see how far Congo have gone and one of their clubs, TP Mazembe, you see how far they go in the CAF competitions. “What then should be done to the coaches of Ghana, South Africa and Egypt, who did not qualify for this tournament? I understand that we are sad that we lost. But this insanity, this constant insanity that each time the Super Eagles lose, some usual critics go on air and start airing a plebiscite on the future of the team’s coach. That is madness. “The contract is made out. We signed a contract, me and the NFF. If they aren’t happy with the performance, it is okay, we go over it and we shake hands. But I will like to remind you that this is the 14th game I have been in charge of the Super Eagles and we’ve lost only two; and only one official game. “We’re still on track to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations. We have qualified for the group stages of the World Cup, so where is this failure that some of our critics are trying to sell to Nigerians coming from. Unless you mean that for coach Sunday Oliseh and his crew to be successful they must win every match, Jesus Christ! Even the world champions Germany are not doing that – not to speak of of us that are a brand new team that we’ve just started building just for some months now.” “This team we took to CHAN now has seven players that (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Singer, Yemi Alade, is not doing badly in her music career and she has even drawn more fans to her heart since she came on board. Though she once said she would “like to date Phyno”, Yemi, in a recent chat with Saturday Beats, said she was still very single and she readily gave some clues to men who would want to sweep her off her feet. Yemi said her ideal man must have the fear of God. “I like my man to be God fearing; have a good sense of style and good humour. He has to be one that has ambition and purpose and he must show it, not just talk about it.” Blessed with a sonorous voice, the singer who delved into the fashion world, said she made the move so that she would not waste her youth. She added that since the death of her father, she has had to be her mother’s pillar of support. “I’m very good at multi-tasking. In the morning, I still go to the kitchen and do things myself. I am currently talking to someone for a shoe-line, and talking to other people for other business opportunities. I am everywhere. I must use my youth well. I lost my dad at a young age and so, I am like my mother’s father and husband. I have a business partner who will take care of my other businesses because she understands my work. “I also went into fashion because of my love for African fashion. I discovered that whenever I go to other African countries to perform, they usually try to replicate my style, so I decided to make something for them and myself as well. The collection is about my personality, my style, and because my style is different, we have decided to make it available to my fans. We also made it in form of jewellery so that everybody can wear it. I am an African woman, but I do not wear Iro and Buba about, so I have decided to mix both African and modern culture together, and call it Afropolitan,” she said. <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

For those who have been itching to see their favourite stars up close and personal, a novel avenue has been created in Nigeria by which fans would be able to bond with their celebrity crush on a monthly basis on a date tagged ‘Celebrity Fan Date.’ Punch reports that A-list artistes including the king of comedy, Ali Baba, Korede Bello, Funke Akindele and a host of others have signified interest and the first edition will feature Funke Akindele. She said, “Our Nigerian stars have been perceived as selfish or inhuman, Celebrity Fan Date series will show the world that this is far from the truth, they love charity and some of them even have NGOs of their own. “Celebrity Fan Date is aimed at inspiring youths and up and coming ones that hard work and consistency pays; and that you can be what you want to be if you set out to do so wholeheartedly.” According to her, Celebrity Fan Date will also entertain and educate the public; and possibly berth new set of celebrities as an outstanding fan may get a chance to become a budding star through visibility. <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

A YOUNG English-speaking boy has been filmed savagely beheading a Syrian prisoner in ISIS' latest barbaric murder video. The sickening footage shows the child, aged around 10, pushing the victim to the floor and using a small knife to cut off his head. The gruesome murder comes at the end of the 17-minute long video and is a new low in ISIS’ use of child soldiers. The clip begins by showing the child dragging a man in an orange jumpsuit along a forest pathway. In an unusual twist for ISIS murder videos, the child-executioner has his face completely unmasked. This is almost certainly to show-off the knife-wielding boy’s baby-face - a vile development in the terror group’s exploitation of children. As the boy-executioner leads his victim through the woods, Arabic religious chanting known as a nasheed can be heard. Moments later the boy stops and the man is seen kneeling in front of him. “Oh America, these are (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

A LAWYER accused of killing his wife and daughter in a horror smash has walked free from court with just a £1000 fine. A doctor on holiday who was a passenger in another car also died in the fatal collision Andrew Houston, 42, was cleared of causing death by careless driving but was found guilty of a lesser charge of careless driving after a four-day trial. Dr Mohammad Hayajneh died in the smash along with Houston's wife Abigail, 42, and seven-year-old daughter Mia. Last night the family of the doctor blasted the verdict a denial of justice, and said they will pursue civil action against Mr Houston. In court the German doctor's wife Ursuala, 59, leapt to her feet and shouted; "He has killed three people" when Houston's defence lawyer asked the jury to find him solely guilty of the lesser careless driving charge. After the verdict the doctor's 22-year-old son Jonas read a statement on the steps of Inverness Sheriff Court. He branded the outcome "irrational and illogical", and said: "We are shocked at this verdict and believe justice has not been done. We don’t feel hatred towards Mr Houston and at no point did we want him to go to prison. "But we wanted him to be found guilty since all the evidence suggested he was and we are convinced this tragedy could have been avoided. "We now face the prospect of never gaining proper closure." "The jury concluded that Mr Houston was on the wrong side of the road due to careless driving but that he didn’t cause the accident because of careless driving since he unsuccessfully tried to get back on the proper side of the road at the last moment." The court heard that the Edinburgh-based lawyer's 12-year-old daughter Lily was also in the car during the A9 collision. Lily was badly hurt in the crash but has recovered from her injuries. Frances McMenamin, Mr Houston's defence council, said after the verdict: "His mother and sister-in-law have been fully supportive of my client since the tragedy and it hardly needs saying that Mr Houston will always carry the burden of the loss of all those lives and knows the grief and loss to others. "It has taken its toll on him both emotionally and physically and he has found it psychologically difficult to cope with. He expresses his inevitable sadness for what this loss has meant to others." A clash is likely between the Nigerian military and Niger Delta militants who have returned to their old ways of bombing oil facilities following the deployment of soldiers to oil pipelines nationwide. Sunday Punch gathered on Saturday that the operation to take over the pipelines from the militants and vandals was being jointly undertaken by the Army, the Air Force and the Navy, as well as other security agencies. It was learnt that the military would deploy all equipment at its disposal, including aircraft, drones and some special pipeline monitoring facilities to protect oil installations nationwide. Bombings of oil pipelines resumed in the Niger Delta, particularly Delta State, following a court in order that a militant leader in the area, Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, be arrested for failing to appear in court over a N34bn fraud allegation. Tompolo had, in a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari last week, denied the allegation, urging security agencies to focus their search for pipeline vandals on the leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa and Delta states. Before the bombing of oil installations in the Niger Delta, vandals had been destroying pipelines at Arepo, Ogun State and some parts of Lagos State. Buhari, while speaking at Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday, had vowed to deal with the resurgence of oil theft, vandalism of pipelines and insecurity in the Niger Delta. Although the security source, who spoke to Sunday Punch on condition of anonymity, did not disclose the number of military personnel that were being deployed nationwide, he said the security agents had already taken over the protection of oil pipelines. The Director of Defence Information, Brig-Gen. Rabe Abubakar, in an interview with one of our correspondents, confirmed that the military had taken over protection of oil pipelines nationwide. He said, “They have taken over protection all over Nigeria. It is just modalities that need to be concluded but with this kind of thing, I believe we have enough deployment to oversee all the pipelines in the nation and we will continue to do that.” “One person or some groups — criminal groups — cannot hold this nation to ransom. Nobody can hold this nation to ransom and will be living, no! “All security agencies are in top gear to ensure that these people, whoever is involved, will be brought to book and whoever thinks that we cannot do it should try to continue doing it and let’s see who will pay the price at the end of the day.” When asked the type of equipment that would be used by the military, he said the military would deploy high-tech modern security networks to protect the pipelines from attacks by vandals and saboteurs. Abubakar restated the determination of the military and other security agencies to track down those behind the last attack on the pipelines in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, last week. The Defence spokesman had said the government launched Operation AWATSE to ensure the protection of the pipelines. Investigations revealed that troops of the task force had been deployed to various communities in the Niger Delta in search of suspected vandals. Confirming the deployment, the Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta, also known as Operation Pulo Shield, said on Saturday that its troops had taken over the waterways, creeks and pipelines in the oil-rich region. The Coordinator, Joint Media Campaign Centre of Operation Pulo Shield, Col. Ado Isa, disclosed this while speaking with Sunday Punch in a telephone interview. Isa said the troops had intensified patrol on the waterways and the creeks with a view to protecting further attack on the nation’s oil facilities. He explained that athough the troops had been working round the clock in line with its mandate to secure the Niger Delta region, they had redoubled their efforts following the recent bombing of oil installations in a part of the region. According to him, the Commander of Operation Pulo Shield, Maj.-Gen. Alani Okunlola, has directed sector commanders under him to ensure that those behind the recent attack on oil installations were brought to book He said, “The Operation Pulo Shield is pursuing its mandate, one of which is securing the nation’s oil installations and fighting criminality with renewed vigour. “It is not only manning or patrolling the waterways, we have dominated the entire creeks and the water channels of the Niger Delta and not only within the areas that the explosions occurred. “You can see that all their (militants) boasting that (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

An Enugu-based couple, Segun and Mary Ayeni, have shown great hope despite birthing a set of conjoined twin girls. Speaking with Sunday Punch on Saturday, the parents of the girls, Miracle and Testimony, expressed optimism despite the condition of their twin daughters born on November 16, 2015, who are joined at the groin. The father, Segun, 35, explained how, despite his initial reaction of trauma, his faith gave him the courage to pull through. He said, “Naturally, you would be a little bit traumatised. That is natural. But in everything, when you know the word of God, it will strengthen you more, because it is part of life. There is nothing one can do about it. It has happened. “When I first heard it was going to be twins, I was happy. But later they said they were joined in some way and I asked, ‘Conjoined how?’ “I thought it was the kind of thing whereby they would be separated immediately. But I later discovered that if they should try to operate immediately, we would lose the two (girls).” Interestingly, the children are very healthy. According to their father, they are in perfect condition. Ayeni said, “It was after the birth that we knew for certain that the babies were conjoined. When they (the doctors) were talking about it, I didn’t understand, not until the babies came out. “They are not connected to anything (machine). They eat normally; they poo (defecate) and wee (urinate) normally because they have separate genitals and legs. “They are not sharing any vital organs, according to the doctors. That is why they said their chances of surviving are very high. They are okay, except for the occasional fever, which is normal, and within one or two days, it is gone.” Like Segun, his wife, Mary, attributed the birth to God and expressed an assurance that the twins were born for a purpose. The couple, who celebrated their third wedding anniversary in December, had their first daughter, Marvellous, on November 19, 2013. According to the mother of three, Marvellous has had a normal relationship with her siblings. The day Mary took her firstborn along to the hospital; she said Marvellous played with them like any child would. The mother said, “After the birth, I was told that they were conjoined, but it was two weeks later that I saw the children face-to-face. I delivered the babies by caesarean section. While I was in the hospital recuperating, the babies were transferred to the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital. “It was a week after that I went there to see them and I was happy because they are strong; it was just that they are conjoined. Will I question God? What will I do as their mother? God gave them to me,” she told our correspondent. The twins, who are still in the Intensive Care Unit at UNTH, are visited by their mother every day. Segun noted that though they went for five ultrasounds, they were unprepared for the peculiar birth. He added that the true nature of the children’s condition was kept from him. He said, “They were just telling us, ‘It seems they are joined somewhere.’ They would not open up to you because they don’t know the kind of heart you have. You know that some people may not have the heart to withstand such a thing. It may be a strange thing to the person. “Initially, they were even saying (they shared) one leg. An ultrasound (scan) can only give you (a view) of the full-fledged human form between six to seven months (to the delivery). We did it again in the sixth month. Segun said tests were run on the twins regularly, adding that an average of N25,000 to N35,000 was spent for his children’s care weekly, while the fees could be much more, depending on the tests. “The doctors are constantly checking to see if any of their vital organs are joined in any way. There’s another one we are about to do now — MRS (Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy) scan. Today, we will still do a series of it. That one is (a total of) about N80,000. “I don’t keep track of all those costs because they are my children; I don’t expect anyone to pay me back. I really cannot recall the test I spent highest for. Mary told our correspondent that though the nurses in the hospital are kind to her twins, she has been stigmatised by some hospital staff and neighbours. “Because of illiteracy or not being exposed, some think that whenever anything (strange) happens, it is somebody that is behind it. “Some female workers that clean the hospital asked, ‘Why are you disturbing yourself?’ They told me to leave the kids and run away. But I can never leave them and run away because they are my blood.” “The neighbours living in my compound are fine; they understand because they are learned. But on the streets, some people that heard I had conjoined twins stopped greeting me. Some wouldn’t (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

The South African Independent Police Investigative Directorate on Saturday opened investigation into the death of a Nigerian allegedly in the custody of its police. According to eyewitnesses, the Nigerian national was allegedly suffocated to death by the police in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, South Africa. This led to a massive protest by some members of the Nigerian community outside a private hospital in Kempton Park. An unnamed eyewitness alleged that brutality from the South African police in a bid to extort money from them was common. According to reports monitored on South African news website, eNCA, eyewitnesses said they saw Kempton Park police officers arrest and suffocate the Nigerian. Hundreds of police officers were reported to have used rubber bullets to disperse the angry crowd. In a video posted online, some of the aggrieved protesters carried placards and chanted songs in solidarity with the deceased Nigerian. One of the angry protesters claimed he saw the police officer who suffocated the Nigerian. He said, “We need no more black police…. Is that how the whites trained them? As professional police, they are supposed to arrest and take the person to court and allow the law take its course. We need justice in this country. Mandela fought for peace and justice, but the black police are abusing it. Take that from me.” Police officials, however, claimed that the Nigerian died after he swallowed drugs to evade arrest. The IPID spokesperson, Robbie Raburabu, was quoted as saying the police could not give details but confirmed that the man died in police custody. “According to police officers that were involved, the man was in possession of drugs but swallowed them before the officers could arrest him. He was convulsing and the officers rushed him to the nearest hospital to try to save his life but he died inside a police vehicle. The Nigerian community alleged that the police officers suffocated the man,” Raburabu said. The body of the Nigerian has since been taken for autopsy. <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Fast rising Nollywood diva, Bose Oladimeji, is a delight to watch on screen. In this interview with Olushola Ricketts of New Telegraph , the graduate of English speaks on her career, relationship and the movie industry. When did you venture into Nollywood? I joined Nollywood in 2009 under the profound Bayo Tijani. I was acting and schooling at the same time. I must say that it wasn’t easy combining the two but God saw me through. Did you have any formal training before joining Nollywood? Yes, because as a literary student back then in school, all that had to do with acting was taught. I learnt both written and practical aspects in school, but my skill was honed under my boss, Tijani. However, you know learning is a continuum. What was your first job and what was the experience like? My first professional appearance on screen is in a movie titled, Owe Akala. I remembered that it was fantastic because seeing myself before camera elicited joy in my heart. Since then, I have lost count of flicks I have appeared in and I give all the glory to God. Is it true that nothing is free in Nollywood especially for the ladies? Yes ooooo! If nothing is free in Freetown, then there is no free ticket to anything in the industry and that applies to both male and female practitioners. Whosoever gives you jobs in order to sleep with you will definitely have his way, so is advisable for ladies to do the right thing at the right time because when you are exceptional as an actress, nobody will ever come to you with rubbish because they will know that whatever job they give you deserve it. Moreso, I have this belief that business should not be mixed with pleasure because if that is done, then one is putting the cart before the horse. I think people should go for the best cast and crew rather than put their lovers on set. Were you also told that you couldn’t get job in Nollywood until you joined a clique? Yes, I heard about that and I love the idea because it helps to sharpens one’s skills. By the time you mix with experienced hands, you have no choice than to learn. For budding actors and actresses, it is an easy way to develop in the industry. Is it true that Yoruba movies don’t pay well? Yes, the remuneration cannot be compared to the efforts and investments put into it but we thank the Lord. What keeps us going is the passion for the job. You can also see that piracy is killing so many things a situation where you used huge amount of money to produce a film the next thing is for you to see it in four-in-one, that is sad. What part of your body do you cherish most? I cherish my teeth, my face, and my boobs especially. But generally, all that has to do with my skin. Have you been heart- broken before? No! Have you ever been attracted to a colleague while on set? Yes, but I let them realise that business is different from pleasure. What turns you on in a man? I have a soft-spot for (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

A TEENAGE girl died of a rare blood clot after her contraceptive pill gave her deep vein thrombosis on a family holiday in Gran Canaria. Sophie Murray, from Accrington, Lancashire, had been on the pill for eight months by the time she returned home from the trip last September. Two weeks later she started to complain that she had difficulty breathing and was also suffering from chest pains. Her mother Shelley Crichton told Blackburn Coroners Court that the 16-year-old was breathless in the middle of the night shortly after having a 'fit' in which her 'lips turned blue' on November 8, 2015. Sophie, a 'healthy and happy' school pupil at Accrington Academy who dreamed of being a paramedic, was taken to hospital where she passed away later that day with her mother by her side. The inquest into her death follows that of 21-year-old Fallan Kurek who died from a 'massive blood clot on the lung after taking the Pill for just 25 days. The teaching assistant collapsed at home after being dismissed from a minor injuries unit with painkillers. Like Sophie, she had She had sought medical help after complaining of having chest pains and feeling breathless. Dr Richard Prescott said Sophie died of a pulmonary embolism due to deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and a contributory factor was the oral contraceptive pill. He told the hearing that the 'large clot' was 8mm in diameter and if it had been detected earlier she could have been given blood thinners and survived. The inquest heard how Sophie was using the common pill Microgynon. Users of it are warned that it can increase the risk of developing a blood clot but it is 'very rarely fatal'. Joanne Birch, a specialist nurse in sudden and unexpected deaths, said only six out of every 10,000 women on the contraceptive pill develop DVT, compared to only two in 10,000 without the pill, and that fatalities are 'extremely rare'. Ms Crichton told the hearing how Sophie's breathing had become worse since returning from holiday and she was struggling to walk to school, dance or enjoy exercise DVDs and complained her body was 'aching'. The inquest heard how Ms Crichton and her daughter visited Dr Paramundayil Joseph at the Dill Hall surgery in Accrington on October 15 last year, after feeling like she was 'breathing through a straw'. The GP said he ordered tests which later confirmed she was suffering from exercise induced asthma and Sophie was given an inhaler. However, she later returned on November 5 - three days before her death - to say it 'didn't do anything' and was prescribed a different inhaler and a tablet to help with her breathing before exercise. Dr Joseph said he didn't consider the diagnosis of DVT as she was young, not overweight or a smoker, had no family history of the illness and didn't have any swelling or tenderness in her leg. He said her breathlessness, which is a symptom of a pulmonary embolism, could also be the symptom of 'many diseases' and 'can be similar' to EIA. He told the inquest that risks associated with the contraceptive pill usually occur after 'many years of taking the pill and also when a woman is a lot older'. He said: 'It's the most common combined pill. I have prescribed it for the last 31 years and this has never happened until now. 'She was very active and it's very rare and very unfortunate.' Assistant coroner Derek Baker recorded a narrative verdict and said it was a 'tragic case'. He said: 'This tragedy has brought overwhelming grief to Sophie's family. 'She was a (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Two oil giants, Chevron and Royal Dutch Shell, have unveiled plans to top the sack of employees globally, including those in their services in Nigeria to 18,500 in 2016. Shell revealed its plans to sack 10,000 staff and slash direct contractor positions in the company’s unedited full year 2015 results obtained by New Telegraph yesterday. The oil giant also added that there are plans, subject to approval by shareholders at a January 27 meeting in the Hague, Netherlands, of a cost cutting strategy by $3 billion in 2016. Chevron would, in the process that began in 2015, complete the sacking of 8,500 staff in its services globally by the end of 2016. The United States oil company revealed it would lay off 7,000 staff before 2016 ends in addition to the 1,500 it announced early in 2015, according to a 2015 last quarter report published by New York Times. Stating that it expected its costs to fall again in 2016, by a further $3 billion, Shell, which slashed $4 billion investments in 2015, said that its drive to improve competitive performance was delivering at the bottom line. “Operating costs have reduced by $4 billion or around 10 per cent in 2015, and the company expects Shell’s costs to fall again in 2016 by a further $3 billion. Synergies from the BG combination will be in addition to that. “Together, these actions will include a reduction of some 10,000 staff and direct contractor positions in 2015-16 across both companies, as streamlining and integration of the two companies continue,” the Shell report stated. Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Dutch Shell, Ben van Beurden, who confirmed the new business strategy, expressed satisfaction with “the momentum in the company to reduce costs and to improve competitiveness.” Beurden noted that bold, strategic moves shape the industry. “A substantial number of staff in the operations of Shell and Chevron in Nigeria will be swept by this gale of sack,” an industry source once told New Telegraph, adding that Shell and Chevron were “courageous enough to announce the number of staff to be affected, but the truth is that all the international oil companies (IOCs) are toeing the line of downsizing and they have all begun this with the termination of contracts with some of their contract staff.” The two multi-nationals did not give a breakdown of how many staff in their Nigerian operations would be affected, Chevron, however, said on its website that Nigeria was “an important part of Chevron’s business globally,” while Shell, which is also the biggest oil firm in Nigeria in terms of assets and production, “produces substantial volume of its global output from Nigeria.” Shell, according to the unedited report published on January 20, is taking impactful steps to refocus and reduce capital spending. “Shell’s capital investment in 2015 is expected to be $29 billion, an $8 billion or over 20 per cent reduction from 2014 levels. This has been delivered by efficiency improvements and more selectivity on new investments. “Capital investment for Shell and BG combined in 2016 is currently expected to be $33 billion, around a 45 per cent reduction from combined spending, which peaked in 2013,” the report read, adding that flexibility for “further reductions is available and will be utilised should conditions warrant that. “As a result of the above actions, we have retained a strong balance sheet position at around 14 per cent gearing. Asset sales for 2014 and 2015 now exceed $20 billion, well above the original plan of $15 billion set out in early 2014. Preparations are well advanced for $30 billion of asset sales in 2016-18, assuming the successful completion of the combination.” Shell’s fourth quarter and full year 2015 results (Click on the link below to read more) <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, on Wednesday described as unfounded and malicious the allegation that he called for the hanging of the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu. Okorocha in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Sam Onwuemeodo, said the report published in the social media was a mere attempt to malign his image ahead of the 2019 general election. The statement reads: “The attention of the Imo State Government has once again been drawn to another fictitious allegation in the social media claiming that the state Governor had called for the hanging of Mr. Nnamdi Kanu leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB). “Governor Okorocha does not know Nnamdi Kanu. He reads about him on the pages of newspapers like every other Igbo man or Nigerian. Whether he lives or dies, does not have any value to add to Governor Okorocha’s life including his politics. So one begins to wonder why Governor Okorocha should call for his hanging. “If he dies, will Okorocha become Director of Radio Biafra or IPOB leader? You ask again, whether one million Nnamdi Kanu could constitute any threat to Okorocha in anyway. The answer is obviously No. Then what is Okorocha’s interest in Kanu’s death or life that he would call for his hanging. “The elements behind this latest moonlight tale also claimed that the Imo Governor had made the call on January 15, 2016 in a meeting with what they called Igbo Elders’ Forum. “They did not mention the venue of the said meeting or those at the meeting. Incidentally, the same January 15, 2016 (Friday) was the day the Governor travelled out of the country for a brief vacation.” <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>

Vanguard reports that the Ijaw Youth Assembly, DIYA, has raised concern over the militarisation of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State in the wake of the court order by a Federal High Court, Lagos, against former militant leader, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, coupled with the attack on oil installations by some aggrieved youths. The group warned that if the current occupation by the military was not stopped, fleeing residents of the area would face serious humanitarian crisis and pose a problem to the state and the nation at large. DIYA, in a statement in Warri, Delta State, by its President Ebimobowei Oguma, said that tension has heightened in all the communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom over fears of a repeat of what happened in 2009 when entire communities in the kingdom were bombed by the military as they searched for militants. According to DIYA, hoodlums have taken advantage of the situation by breaking into the homes of residents and business premises of persons who had fled the town thereby causing untold hardship to the people. It said: “Most of the residents who have fled their homes are already homeless, and we call on President Muhammadu Buhari to call the military to order to avoid an impending disaster and oppression of the peace loving people of Gbaramatu.” The group said that all the communities in Gbaramatu are already ghost towns because of the heavy presence of the military personnel who were already acting in commando style, stressing that the rights and privileges of the people must be respected as anything that will bring a repeat of the events of 2009 when the military invaded Gbaramatu will not augur well for the state and the country. It will be recalled that in 2013 a Federal High Court sitting in Asaba, presided over by Justice Buba declared the bombardment of Gbaramatu Kingdom in 2009 by the Joint Task Force as unconstitutional and awarded N100 billion against the Federal Government for the destruction of over 53 communities in the kingdom. The said sum has not been paid even as the military is poised to carry out further attacks against the people. <[url: http://www.primeviewsng.com]>
