Nairaland / General / Women Run Mad After Ritual Procedures Backfire by joelyusuf(m): 4:38pm On Apr 20, 2017
Two women from Zimbabwe spent a night in police custody after they disrupted the peace of the community as a result of the ritual they were involved in. Residents were forced to call the police so the women could be controlled when their erratic behaviors were going out of hand. The women were said to have had a bath with some water mixed with herbs and prepared by a traditional healer. It was gathered that the women had sought the help of a traditional healer to gain revenge and fortify themselves against their father in-law who was terrifying them. The old man was accused of using uncanny ways to lay with them without their knowledge. With the use of ‘Mubobobo’, the substance the father in-law was said to be using on them, a man could have any woman he wants without her knowledge or consent.
The police officers’ spokesperson in Bulawayo, Precious Simango, said the women have been released. Sources also said the women sought the help of the traditional healer to liberate them from the constant abuse their father in-law subject them to since they are married to brothers.
Nairaland / General / Unbelievable! Live Owl Spotted In Bayelsa State House Of Assembly by joelyusuf(m): 1:42pm On Apr 20, 2017
People in the Bayelsa state house of assembly witnessed something shocking and interesting when a live owl was found perched on a table. Staff cleaning the state’s house of assembly reportedly found a live owl on one of the chambers of the assembly. The peace and ambiance of the state was rocked after the discovery as the cleaners, majorly women, fled in different directions upon seeing the scary bird. It was gathered that the issue was more terrifying as the windows and doors to the chambers were said to be shut. This made it even worse as people kept wondering how the owl got there.
The principal staff of the assembly tried arranging some youths to kill the strange bird. A staff of the assembly expressed his shock at the discovery. “We know that an owl is not an ordinary bird and some people have different beliefs about it mostly spiritual and superstitious. That is why we are shocked at what happened and what omen it portends.”
Nairaland / General / Divorced..but He Wants Me Back..am Confused..practical Advice Please by joelyusuf(m): 11:28am On Apr 20, 2017
Please I want to remain anonymous I have been wanting to share this, but don’t know whom to confide in. I hope I get practical advice. I got married to the love of my life in 2013 November, before then, he introduced me to his parents and they welcomed me before the wedding. He lost his job after the wedding, we moved to his friend’s house, he never told me his company gave him money to rent an apartment when it folded up, I got to know through his colleague. He does not discuss anything about his business with me. I always have to squeeze out any information I need from him. I tried to support him in the little way I can. We travelled to his home town the Christmas of 2013. His parents called a meeting because I did not wake up by 6am to sweep the compound, meanwhile I do every other thing, cooking, washing plates, cleaning the house.I even learnt how to make my father in-laws meals because he does not eat same thing with the rest of the family. My hubby refused to get a job. The next Christmas ( 2014 ) I had to borrow money from a friend for us to travel. My dad has been asking me to come home, but because of work I couldn’t, that’s why I borrowed to make it possible, I spent two days with them and decided to go see my dad on the 30th. My dad was not around. He travelled, I had to wait for him to come back. He came back on the 1st January 2015. Yes i waited for my dad to get back against the wish of my husband, because according to his family tradition, everyone must be around on the 1st of January to celebrate the new year. When I came back on the second of January with my dad, my dad offered to drop me. I met my husband, who had already packed my things that am leaving his house, His father even hit me, saying I should stand up and leave his house. All these were happening in the presence of my dad, so my dad helped me carry my things and we left. Later in April, we went back home to reconcile, but I don’t call the parents on the phone like I always used to do, neither do they call me after the incident. When I travelled home the following Christmas, my hubby said, I should not come to the house, that his parents are not happy with me. I insisted I’ll come and I went. Truly his father came in and asked me to leave, and hubby was in support. To avoid being hit again, I left. I got tired of the whole situation and told my parents am no longer interested in the marriage, so they returned my bride price December 2016. My hubby filed for divorce January 2017. We did not have any child, because both of us did not have the means to raise one. I have always been the one apologising whenever we have any problem. The thing is, he wants to come back, he started calling me this April, but am tired, I just want a peaceful life. Since 2013 up till now it’s been one problem or the other. I have been squatting with my friend from when his friend sent me out of his house with my hubby’s order. Now I have a good job, even though I want out, am scared I might not find someone that will love me, and I don’t want that title ”divorcée”. How would people see me, am so confused.
Nairaland / General / You Have Been Drinking Water Wrong Your Entire Life by joelyusuf(m): 11:17am On Apr 20, 2017
YOU SHOULD DRINK 8 GLASSES OF WATER A DAY. . Each adult person should drink at least 8 glasses of water per day. Besides the fact that it is advisable to drink plenty of water, the way how you drink it is also very important: IF YOU DRINK WATER STANDING IT SPLASHES THE STOMACH WALL Experts explain that if you frequently drink water while you are standing that may cause serious health complications. Namely, the water splashes the stomach walls and over time, it harms the stomach and also hinders the digestive process. YOUR KIDNEYS FILTER BETTER IN A SITTING POSITION You should always sit down when you drink water as when you’re in a sitting position the kidneys function much better. DRINK THE WATER IN SMALL, SLOW SIPS As some cases it seems that you can drink gallon of water at once. Still, you need to remember that you should always drink it slowly, particularly when you’re extra thirsty. DRINKING WHILE STANDING CAN CAUSE NERVE TENSION In case if you feel nervous and tense the reason for that may be ecause you’re not drinking water properly. Namely, drinking while standing may lead to nerve tension and you should always try to drink water sitting down. DRINKING WHILE STANDING CAN CAUSE INDIGESTION Indigestion is just another reason why you should drink water while you are sitting. If you frequently drink it standing up it can cause indigestion. DRINKING WATER WHILE STANDING WILL NOT SATISFY YOU At first it may not make any notable difference, but the habit of drinking water while you are on your feet may lead to severe health issues.
Nairaland / General / Why Women Are Using Coke On Their Hair? by joelyusuf(m): 1:40pm On Apr 19, 2017
I was familiar with the use of coca cola, but this never crossed my mind. There are women using coke on their hair to make it look more beautiful. Can you imagine? Did you know that a can of Coke could remove the accidently stuck gum in your hair? Oh yeah. We all thought you need to cut that piece of hair when this happens. Now, you can do this and much more by using coke. I’m so excited to show you what it can do. Stop drinking it, though. It’s full of sugar, and it’s not okay for your healthy diet. Coke is the answer to anything. Let’s take a look: CHEWING GUM ON YOUR HAIR If you or your child gets gum on your or their hair, pour a can of coke over the chewing gum and let it soak. The gum will leave your kids’ hair in a minute. GREASE STAINS Add a can of coca cola to the detergent on the wash cycle. Continue running it like an ordinary soap. Your clothes will leave the washer clean as a whistle. RUST I mentioned this a couple of times before, but here it is again. If you have some rusty tools in your home, put them in a container and pour coke over them. Wait and see the magic BAD HAIR DYE Fill up a bucket with Coke and soak your head in it for a few minutes. All the bad highlights will even out, but the dye won’t go away. Sorry. BURNT RESIDUE Call for the Coke mix to help you up. Mix a can of coca cola, dish detergent, and hot water. Pour it into the bowl and let it sit for a couple of minutes. It should come out easily. DIRTY WINDOWS No worries here. Clean them with coke! Pour a bit of it on the window and make sure you cover the whole window. Let it sit for a few minutes and wipe the stains away. TOILET BOWL Pour a can of Coke in your dirty toilet bowl and let it sit for a while. Scrub all the stains away with a bathroom brush. Flush the toilet and it will be as good as new. Coca-Cola should represent your problem solver when it comes to fixing things around your house or on you. Maybe that’s the purpose of this drink. To clean and not to drink it.

Nairaland / General / All You Need To Know About Boko Haram by joelyusuf(m): 7:07am On May 19, 2015
Boko Haram is a terrorist organization
with its roots in northeastern Nigeria,
linked to insurgency stemming from
north Cameroon and Niger Republic.
"Boko Haram" is a Hausa name which
translates roughly as "Western
education is forbidden," while the real
Arabic name translates as "The
Congregation of the People of
Tradition for Proselytism and Jihad".
The sect was founded in 2002 by the
late Mohammed Yusuf who was
captured and executed by Nigerian
security forces in 2009. Until the
government clamped down on the
sect’s activities in 2009, the operations
conducted by the sect were more or
less peaceful. Since Abubakar Shekau,
a former deputy to Yusuf’s era, violent
attacks have escalated in terms of both
frequency and intensity. The sect seeks
to establish a "pure" Islamic state ruled
by sharia, putting a stop to what it
deems Westernization. It proposes that
interaction with the Western world is
forbidden, and also supports
opposition to the Muslim
establishment and the government of
Nigeria. The group is known for
attacking Christians, Muslim clerics and
government targets, as well as for
bombing churches, mosques, schools
and police stations. The group is also
notorious for kidnappings. Violence
linked to the Boko Haram insurgency
has resulted in an estimated 10,000
deaths between 2002 and 2013. On
November 13, 2013 the United States
government designated the group a
terrorist organization. On 22 May 2014,
the United Nations Security Council
added Boko Haram to its list of
designated al-Qaeda entities, bringing
"funding, travel and weapons
sanctions" against the terrorist group.
On 22 May 2014 Boko Haram was
officially declared a terrorist group
affiliated to Al-Qaeda and Al-Qaeda in
the Islamic Maghreb by the United
Nations Security Council. International
sanctions including asset freeze, travel
ban and arms embargo were imposed
against the Islamist extremist group. It
was reported in August 2013 that
Shekau had been shot and deposed by
members of his sect, but he survived.
He has taken responsibility for the
April 2014 kidnapping of over 200
school girls. On 6 May 2014, eight more
girls were kidnapped by suspected
Boko Haram gunmen. Funding sources
for Boko Haram are not certain, but is
believed to be partially funded by
bank robberies and by other Islamist
groups.
Nairaland / General / Nigerian Military Speaks About Link Between Boko Haram With ISIS by joelyusuf(m): 6:55am On May 19, 2015
The Nigerian military have not
forgotten the recent announcement
by Boko Haram about the sect’s
alleged link with the Islamic State in
Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Recall that the earlier claimed
allegiance with the ISIS caused serious
concerns among experts who feared
that the Nigerian group might become
more powerful and extend their
atrocious activities.
Speaking on May 18, Monday, in Abuja
a military official made a fresh
comment on the issue, Thisday reports.
When asked if there is substantive
intelligence to validate the allegiance
of Boko Haram to the ISIS, Rear Admiral
Gabriel Okoi, the Chief of Defence
Intelligence (CDI), said that “its an
open secret”.
