5 people have lost their lives in a stampede while waiting to collect Ramadan gifts from a businessman in Kaduna on Monday, July 13.

It was learnt that many others fainted during the stampede. The incident happened when people learnt that a businessman,who deals in dairy products, was sharing gifts at the Kabala Constain area in Kaduna North local government area of the state.

Resident doctors at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, on Thursday staged a fresh protest in Osogbo, Osun State capital, to register their anger over the non-payment of their salaries for the past eight months.

The doctors asked Governor Rauf Aregbesola to resign from office if he failed to pay them by the end of June which he promised.

The doctors, who were led the their President, Dr. Olalekan Ajayi, had gathered at the premises of the hospital from where they trooped out to the streets singing anti-government songs.

The US Department of State on Tuesday said it donated $5 million and not $5 billion to the Multinational Joint Taskforce fighting the Boko Haram insurgents in the Northeast.

There were report on Monday, that the US Assistant Secretary, Bureau of African Affairs, Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, had announced the donation at the African Union (AU) Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.
