welcome development, it's never too late to do the right thing. |
giles14:i myself would like to know how they calculated and got the figure.because if this true then the rest of the country shares 55% of imports including food, raw materials for manufacturing, crude oil products, cars, electronics etc |
Eko o ni baje |
those days were interesting, you sought absolute power if you wanted it, no charm, shrine, ritual was enough,no sacrifice too great, you had to go all in. maybe it was true that lies were spread by the throne to discredit Basorun Gaa but in line with the practices of old it was most likely they were true. like him making human sacrifices.even though both sided were of course into the act.still empires rise and fall and it was just the right time for the then glorious oyo empire to fall. gaa for good or ill was indeed a catalyst. |
7lives:there is. though it was made in the Yoruba language, I watched it about 10 years ago. the title is Basorun Gaa. quite interesting. if you understand yoruba and interested in seeing the movie maybe you can still get a copy. the picture quality is quite good so you don't have to worry about that. |
if the government doesn't seem concerned, how long will the people wait till they form a community vigilante to secure lives. at this point calling on the state government is only futile, let the people stand together and defend themselves since the state government doesn't care about them |
I don't think so. kanu was able to mobilize the youths because of his radical style, the sad truth is they wouldn't have followed a Mandela or Gandhi or someone who wasn't a fundamentalist.radical views with a touch of extremism always worked on the masses better than non fundamentalist movements, especially in developing countries . it would be almost impossible for any other person to preach such messages again after seeing what happened to kanu. even asari dokubo who was trying to re-emerge to lime light using pro biafra sentiments has decided it isn't worth it and decided to keep his mouth shut. if kanu should appear today( that is if he is able to) , it's most likely he would loose his followers because he would certainly not be able to preach the kind of message that the youths in SE (many of whom were waiting to vent their frustrations on the government) wants.the question is would they follow a moderate version of kanu? without his fiery views, opinions, bravado? these of course are just my opinions though. it would be interesting to find out how such an event plays out though. |
knowledgeable:i lived in the north, the common people don't belive that and even till now,you should separate politics from day to day life. the typical hausa man lives quietly and contentedly. they don't brag.if you ve been to kori textile market in kano or if you can ask from someone who has you'll get the feeling of what I'm saying. most of the traders own shops worth millions but you know their favorite vehicle? the modest vespa motorcycle. hausa/fulani people can be many things but they are the most humble group of people in Nigeria. mind you in not saying they are saints. |
knowledgeable:to what end?everybody can be successful, so no one should tell us how an igbo man is superior to a Yoruba or hausa man. it's not only wrong, it's racist |
knowledgeable:well the feeling of superiority is all that's coming from op. no other tribe claims superiority like the igbos. the irony is those who lagged behind and were so uneducated after the Civil War have been the ones running the country ie the hausa/fulani. whether or not they are doing a good job is a question for another time but I'm only trying to point out that even they don't claim to be superior to other ethnic groups in the country, so what's all the fuss about. all tribes have billionaires, brilliant people. so why should anyone claim to be superior? |
I saw the headline and thought you meant enough of igbos claim of dominance and their phobia for anything/anyone not theirs and decided I was going to ask you to leave the igbos be. now I found out it was the exact opposite and I'm wondering why an Igbo man would try to start another round of this useless tribal seesaw.you should have just quietly stated that the igbos were doing good just because of their will to hustle. but instead your write up inferred that the igbo people were just superior so the others should just deal with it. just like most igbos in this forum. seriously you guys aren't doing yourselves any favors, why claim to be superior even the people who built the world powers we have today don't do that anymore so what's important about claiming to be superior to the next human. you know such behavior attracts all the ills in the world and yet you claim it shouldn't be. what sort of reasoning is that?if Germans, Americans, Britons, the French and etc have stopped claiming to be superior, why would a group of black people claim to be superior to other black people?just like the life of any human, there are repercussions for what we do or don't do. Igbos please be reasonable |
kettykings:no one will stop a serious minded igbo man from investing in southwest. southwest blesses all who invest on her soil. if those people don't think it's profitable to invest in the southwest they wouldn't do so. |
deomelllo:no mind am, as 'IF' the rest of us will just fold our arms and be looking. 'If' we start listing the up amd coming foreign investments not to talk of local in southwest envy will kill some people. |
lmao igbo people are the funniest group of people, here we were yesterday when igbo/ipob yoots were wishing Mr buhari the worst. now that they have found out that he might have been treated by an igbo man they are suddenly consciously or unconsciously wishing him a speedy and full recovery. 'harmlessly funny' people |

I've heard good things about the woman |
omg not again. haha are these people some sort of perpetual crying machines? |
I saw the ops sincere post and even if you are pro Gej you should be able to sympathize with his position, many have and I'm happy about their sense of fairness. however, I decided to weigh in because I saw many comments from people who believed Gej could do no wrong. I wish such people would open their eyes and even for just a moment get serious. Gej I will say during his first coming was a widely popular figure. supposedly he was a man of destiny, he was Goodluck, a man who never thought he would become a governor, the whole nation fought so he could be president. they saw in him a messiah, he wasn't like the rest of those desperate power mongers.... so we all thought. Gej was a colossal disappointment. he was the only ruler in recent history that came close to MKO's popularity, in my hometown i know two young boys who were named after him 'Goodluck' just like the time of abiola.he was that popular and had the support of majority of Nigerians. buhari may have a cult following in the north but he wasn't as widely accepted as Jonathan. so for him to be thrown out of Aso rock was no mistake. his time saw the oil boom and at a point we were still borrowing to pay salaries. corruption during his time was epidemic. every Tom, dick and ebele had access to the treasury. he almost ran us aground when we should have made our biggest strides as a nation. I'm happy he's gone and despite what people who continue to think he was worth something belive, he is never coming back as a leader. Good riddance. |
this barbaric attitude has reached an epidemic level.the funny thing is they will still belive the next lie. they can't help themselves.very programmable people.Ojukwu did it, Nnamdi kanu did it, Almost led them to mass suicide, fayose still doing it. FFK despite his kising and telling on one of their favorite daughters is still doing it. the question is who is next. me sef go try my own. |
Rexgodwin:simple one openly canvassed for people from other tribes to be stoned, killed etc. the other chose to fight injustice. one turned himself into a tin god the other remained humble. one was going around saying no erection, and wanted to tear the country apart by any means possible even if it meant war. now having said this, imagine if kanu was just fighting for justice for his people without inciting hate,he had every opportunity to change his ways but didn't. hence his downfall. he wasn't even able to get any concession for his people. |
Ipob, keeping the igbo people in mental slavery since the time of Nnamdi kanu.they feed them lies and tell them not to think because all the thinking has been done for them. they teach them to hate because ipob says every other person hates them, they tell them not to have an opinion because the ideology of ipob is always superior. no wonder kanu almost became a god to them before he was pulled down from his pedestal. everywhere all I see are igbo victims, crying about just everything:ahh they hate us, they don't want us to prosper, they are jealous of us. Igbo people need to start telling themselves the truth. I wonder what would become of the coming generation if this isn't stopped. |
raker300:that's because you don't really know him. I know you have access to Google so I won't try to lecture you about him. however what I'll say is he is a great yoruba son who has always fought for our interests. power sometimes makes people overstep but he has kept his humility as expected of an omoluabi. especially when you consider the age he rose to power. which should be his early thirties. |
anyone who takes this nonsense will belive anything. it's like saying Governor ajimobi of oyo state is trying to install his own loyalist as governor of lagos state. amount structures in South west? I don't know how strong he is in ogun state but what the writer at independent newspaper should know is leadership isn't just granted in yoruba land. even Tinubu didn't just become the political legend we know because he was rich. he had to prove himself times and times over. against obasanjo, against the pdp. he didnt just arrive at the summit. people had to see how strong he was, as he weathered political storms after storms and emerged even stronger. fayose has twice a better chance of becoming the south west leader than amosun at the moment.total rubbish from the independent. |
dem sha wan turn lagos to Manhattan. I'm not complaining though. keep up the good work. Eko o ni baje |
orisa37:i revere PA awolowo and his policies, he brought out the best in the Yoruba nation and no leader of our has been able to match his outstanding leadership. I place hi among the likes of Nelson Mandela, Kwame nkrumah but Thomas Sankara had he lived would probably have made Africa greater than Europe and the USA. the others I mentioned earlier fought for their people. Sankara wanted to liberate the whole of Africa. he wanted us to stop them from taking our resources, make the whites build their technology here instead of taking our oil away to refine, our cotton to produce, he knew the value of western education too so he wasn't a blind bigot oblivious to the facts. In my opinion he was the greatest African leader that ever lived |
Caseless:yes they did. they crippled Africa leaving us with corrupt short sighted leaders just because they wanted to continue stealing our resources while keeping us in servitude.its a pity we were too weak to do anything about it then at least. now we have no excuse |
Thomas Sankara I belive was the father of pan Africanism. he believed so much in Africa and her people and was never afraid to speak his mind. the particular speech he made at the UN General assembly telling the whole world that the Era of colonialism in Africa was gone was apparently too much for the whites to bear.he wanted Africa to produce instead of importing goods. he was there at every point urging Africans to stand up.such a great man. he didn't just fight for his motherland he fought for Africa. not many have done that |
Allwility:i didn't see it the way you just portrayed but I have to say it make a lot of sense. |
if Malaysia wants to reduce her population it should find a better way, not trying to sacrifice soldiers in name of population control. people dey talk of military Malaysia sef dey show face. |
s lot of money is going to be spent at the polling units I 2019.the signs are there already. I'm afraid buhari will most likely need to open the central bank for dollars just like Jonathan. wike has the resources, Atiku won't be afraid to spend too and so. any others too. |
Ikwokrikwo:who blamed igbos? and for what? |
