PoliticsRe: Lagos Task Force Burns Homes Of Otodo Gbame Residents, Chase Them Into Lagoon by jollymizzle(m): 6:24pm On Apr 09, 2017
I'm in support of this not because I hate the people but I think they have the right to better lives even if they don't know it. Most people here think a slum is a place to live, it's not. It's dehumanizing, and no apologies the people living there are just a step above animals . Government, aid organizations and well meaning Nigerians should come to the aid of these people and give them a better life. Instead of condemning the government for an act well overdue we should be making active contribututions towards resetteling these people

Make una free ambode abeg ... Brainless Nigerians
most people don't know the effects of having slums in the community, from soweto slums, to those in Rio the story is always the same, crime drugs, rape and diseases. We should all be working towards eradicating slums not permitting it

That they were issued a warning is not the point, the point is what compensation did the government provide?
please note compensation is not the term in this case as I'm sure none of those living in those horrible slums ever acquired a square inch of land. However I'm totally for rehabilitation of these people. Having slums is not healthy for the community in the slum, the general public and our image. That's why most Europeans or Americans thinks Africa is all about mosquitoes, malnutrition and cholera

Shikena!

And when he tells them bluntly that the Old East no longer wants to be in Nigeria just like Scotland and Catalunya, the unprincipled buffoons from the other side who have been asking 'Why Igbo leaders are not seeking to leave nigeria like IPOB', will shift the goal post again asking why God himself didn't come down to ask for Biafra independence.

Cursed Scoundrels and scums of the earth. The descendants of the fallen evil ritalistic lucifer know themselves.
If you go through the post you will see and notice that a person with so much power vested like nwodo will never be heard calling for biafra, the post clearly says igbo at the moment are between seccession and restructuring. That's what the article says, I didn't write it. Too many interests makes seccession at this point in time almost impossible, restructuring is the best anyone can hope for

Our igbo leaders should stop being diplomatic, tell them that we reject Nigeria.

We no want again. Wat is it sef? Why must igbo be in Nigeria? Can't dey have their Nigeria without igbos? angry
it's not that simple, most of us know this. I tell you was easier for igbos to get biafra in 1967 than at this point. There are just too many interests involved both nationally and internationally. Just go through the recent declarations made by the colonial powers Britain and France. It will be almost impossible to get a peaceful break up at this point. And I tell you it's not about igbo vs the rest of Nigeria, it's the elites (including igbos) vs everyone who wants to split this country. So restructuring is proxy the best anybody can get and even that will only come at a point of revolution. And every wise igbo person knows splitting from Nigeria on non violent terms in his/her best interest.

I doubt the arrow heads of ABN will agree with you. I don't even want to mention Fela's song "International thief thief". I assume you won't by any chance know who Fela was referring to.
the same Fela you quoted was a Yoruba man, beko ransome kuti was a Yoruba man. International thief thief he wrote against MKO and Obasanjo is not in anyway related to the struggles of nadeco. Many of you come here to insult the Yoruba pple forgetting we sacrificed and lost the most for the sake of democracy. No one else did as much as we did . and I can say that anywhere with proof. I won't rubbish the contribution of other greats but the useless kids who come online and shout "Yoruba are betrayers" must be made to realize how stupid they sound

PoliticsRe: Bamaiyi: How NADECO Leaders Betrayed Abiola by jollymizzle(m): 7:03am On Apr 03, 2017
The Yoruba people did more than any other people, lost more for the democracy we all lay claim today. We have always been champions of equality and fairness so no ignorant pest should come here and say otherwise. Lies won't cut it as some of us were alive during these times, not that we heard adulterated stories from those who never participated/or had minimal effort in the struggle for our democracy . So if you come here trying to insult us, just know to just spew your incoherent and meaningless 'afonja are betrayers' mantra and quietly leave but never to make any reference to the topic, or our struggle for democracy
PoliticsRe: Bamaiyi: How NADECO Leaders Betrayed Abiola by jollymizzle(m):

Betrayal is not new to d yorubas, its their tradition. Its either they benefit from u or they stab u, wen they get a better offer.
History is there to prove it.
And the funniest part is they scream all ova d media but wen it come to standing by their word, they r neva there.

Its funny more non yorubas were assassinated, and imprisoned while the betrayers chickened into exile only to return years later n claim to be hero's of democracy.
Even those that were assassinated were betrayed by their own people.

Truely, the dead has no victory, else would Pa Alfred Riwani of blessed memory if alive be a celebrated nationalist? U n I no d answer is NO.

Frank Kokori, the then NUPENG President even after his incarceration, till date is not celebrated. Jus to mention a few.

But d likes of Wole Soyinka, Tinubu, Fayemi etc that ran away wen it was time to defend their mandate are today celebrated as hero's of democracy, what a shame.
lol another lie, so kudirat wasn't killed by the army, PA adesanya excaped by whiskers? beko ransome kuti and gain fawenhimi, wale osun, cornelious adebayo and others weren't incarcerated? ..many yorubas were killed Go and find out nadeco had members from all over the country but yorubas dominated, so how come you are saying yorubas were not at the forefront, who else was in the thick of the struggle if not nadeco? You are saying people went into exile as if that was bad, so you want all yorubas to be killed for the democracy we are all enjoying?kokori, PA rewane and others did their part just like other well meaning Nigerians. You people need to ask questions if you don't know rather than just spew what you heard from bitter anti-yoruba elements around you, lagos was always hot during the nadeco days, that couldn't be said about states in the south east, or North. don't let hatred for the yorubas turn you against your conscience. We gave the most for democracy and the world know that. Your people sold out most, like the Arthur Nzeribe, Daniel kanu, Humphrey, uche chukwumerije etc. Nadeco was a national struggle for democracy and we the yorubas championed it with blood and sweat. How can you now sit comfortably and write what you wrote. Have you no conscience?

abegi, you don't have proof and you are making such grievous accusations, anyway I didn't insult you and I also challenge you to point out how I did that. Unverified statements like the one you made is what is tearing nigeria apart. Abiola was elected by not just the yorubas but igbos and hausas too, he never made such statement that he didn't need the igbos. Yorubas were at the forefront in the struggle for democracy and many paid with their lives, or went to prison. We did more than enough, if you can't appreciate that, don't insult us with lies such as that quote. It's divisive and cruel

It was actually uttered by MKO, in the build up of 1993 election. It was rumored that it was the statement that made Arthur Nzeribe to form his infamous ABN.
i challenge you to provide proof that this was said by abiola if you dont know what to say shut up and pedlling falsehoods here. We still remeber the roles arthur nzeribe and uche chukwumerije, humphery nwosu, daniel kanu played. The man spoke the truth, from Apc, nnamdi kanu, Tinubu, South East. Many igbo elders nowadays will prefer to avoid some of the issues he spoke about. Sadly I know most igbos here would prefer he was a blowing hot air especially the issues of Biafra and kanu. But a man on a mission isn't bothered.

Saraki is an emerging force. Whether he will surpass Tinubu or not, whether he will achieve his dream of becoming the president or not,is what we don't know. Tinubu has been silent for a while, that of course doesn't mean he is weak or finished. 2019 will decide, because buhari might not win his party's nomination if he decides to contest

I really doubt with the ways things are going buhari will get the nomination of APC. Is it atiku, Tinubu, saraki, El rufai.obasanjo That will support his re-nomination . His failures and betrayal is what has weakened Tinubu to this extent. Is it the fasholas, fayemi, or amaechi that will campaign for his re election? Those don't even have a political base.

With all the happenings in the country's political circle, only one thing gives me hope, that soon our democracy may reach a point where performance will be the major factor to determine re-election. Buhari has disappointed us but his tenure may be the catalyst that ushers in a new dispensation of result based politicking. The rate at which alliances are formed is a welcome development and soon we may soon have a democracy that makes getting a second term without performance almost impossible. I will support a saraki/okorocha/osinbajo/whoever as long as it's a southern Christian. With the hope that if they fail, nigerians will replace them in four years. We only need more maturity among the electorate so I'm using this opportunity to tell nairalanders, get registered to vote, the continuous voters registration starts this month. Don't feel too big or too busy. We must improve our democracy.

Saraki cannot make peace with Tinibu . Tinibu is a southerner with a waning power.
All he needs to do is to infiltrate presidency since there is conflicting cabals there with this Buhari will be complete nominal president.
Saraki will win Tinibu even in the south not to talk of north. Yes I said so.
maybe but you ve forgotten, saraki hasn't fought as many battles as Tinubu has/had fought. If not for providence/luck/lack of foresight of buhari, he might have been imprisoned already. Saraki also inherited a political empire, while I'm not saying saraki isn't a political wizard himself as he has already demonstrated it, it doesn't mean he is above Tinubu, times change of course and we can't see the future. Saraki may become more powerful or he may reach too close to the sun and get burnt. But a smart man knows when to make peace, if he impeaches (assuming he is able to get the go ahead) osinbajo becomes president, he has inadvertently made osinbajo/Tinubu stronger, if he waits for buhari to complete the term, he risks loosing the momentum he has gained and also puts himself at risk because his intentions on the precidency are clear and he isn't the only one eyeing that seat. Pple like atiku, the cabal, El rufai and other interested parties are watching. But of course an alliance between the two, if he can get Tinubu to support him will most certainly make him the next president

I just dey pity those pple forming cabal around buhari. If saraki gains more ground and through his consultations obtains "a go ahead" to impeach buhari. Their jail terms go long pass that of a monkey in the zoo. Except maybe daura whose dss report nailed magu. The only obstacle in saraki's path is prof osinbajo who would take over in the event of pmbs ouster, as saraki might not trust him enough not to run after this administration's term expires. But as for buhari, I don't see him coming back even if he manages to finish this term.

Saraki doesn't have problem with Tinubu. Have you not seen reshuffling in the Senate positions?, Yoruba blood in Saraki has made him to consolidate his position. The President is the one to be called to order and obey simple law of Nature of POWER SHARING WITHIN HUMAN WORLD . The President use archaic method in trying to subdue his political foes and fight war against corruption yet his chosen arrowheads were once corrupt as well. So, how does such popularity of such President won't nosedive? . He doesn't obey court order and you think such won't hit the rock. He has already hit the rock. All I know is that the Senate won't plan anything to impeach him but the President is inn for a lot of political scheming and something like political cold War.
if what you say is true, then we have a new president already.

Chai! "Saraki ti take over". How times change. It would have been unthinkable that I might write such just a year ago. Begging is the best course of action for Ndume. He must have seen from the way things are going that relying on the weak vegetable called buhari is useless as even the president can't help himself. With this, Mr saraki has the opportunity to consult further with the northern leaders to the detriment of buhari. These are taught times for the sick president, if he survives his bad health, his administration might not survive this ruthless Senate. If saraki is wise, he would try to make peace with Tinubu and make some consultations with obasanjo. And also the south east. If he can do that, I think he is the next president already. I never liked the man but there is no denying the fact that he may be the most powerful political figure in Nigeria today
