gidgiddy:well no southerner expected any person from the North to be happy about this anyway. But the fact that you are actually not happy about this is one thing we like. ONE SOUTH |
tuniski:You have said it all |
Thankfully 99% of people making comments here including me don't have any say in what course and resolutions the south decides to take. Many are blinded by hatred, pettiness that they'd refuse to see what can be gained but what the other would loose. As for me I'm not that far gone and I say a big YES to southern unity. |
If we can only put our differences aside, there's a lot to be gained in having a unified south.if reason can prevail, we can move ahead with a little bit of mutual respect |
ZaraGift:these our Eastern Brothers sef. , it's in the blood

myhotbrain:seconded |
zoedew:i know tinubu and his battles for democracy and I respect him and regard him to be a foremost yoruba leader. But I'll take you back to the point I said this title is not meant for a politician. Its meant for someone rugged, unafraid and ready to loose everything and his life. |
BankeSmalls:MKO was a cilivian, a potician, philanthropist, he was many things and a great man. He wasn't known to be a warrior, yet given the huge title he fought on and refused to relinquish his mandate in Nigeria's fairest election till date in exchange for freedom and it cost him his life. Even without being a warrior he persevered and in the end he didn't betray the sacred order that the bearer must never surrender even on the pain of death. Think on that |
naijalo:tell that to the elders of yoruba land. The title came into being when the oyo empire, stretched for and wide into Togo, Benin republic and even Ghana. Ask your elders if you are yoruba. The title is Aare ona kakaanfo of yoruba land |
zoedew:tinubu is a great yoruba leader but the no this title is not for politicians, it's meant for warriors and jagaban is not one. It's like giving the title of balogun to the person fit to be iyaloja. |
Alaafin has made an excellent choice. This title is not meant for those who are politicians or who want to be politically correct. It's meant for the one who is willing to sacrifice everything for yorubaland. And Gani Adams has been at the forefront for many years now. Obasanjo, BAT even with their status as respected yoruba leaders don't deserve the title, though I haven't heard tinubu was interested. Obasanjo who wanted it was a nationalist, not that there's anything bad in that. But when it comes to the interest of the Yoruba people. Gani Adams has been our champion for some time now. And for the people saying he is too young, I don't know how a 57 year old man is being considered too young for the post of a general |
babadee1:You dey mind am,too many comedians on NL |
God bless the men and women of the Nigerian army God bless federal republic of Nigeria |
zenmaster:You said and I quote "Ilorin fell to the Jihadis because of Afonja mumuism." that was what I responded to. Now that you know emir is an Arabic title not a fulani title. I have no reason to argue with you |
zenmaster:are you implying the Saudis, fulani themselves, the Indonesians, the turks etc are mumus? You may be a Christian just like me, but I doubt u know the history of Christianity. The crusades in Christianity is the exact copy of jihad. That happened to be the way things were done then. Christianity only had another option, evangelism. Now adopted by islamists too. So stop being petty. It only makes you seem ignorant |
zenmaster:Ilorin was a garrison town, just like ibadan, the ibadan people decided to have an olubadan, now they recently decided to add 30 more lol.tho there are obas and there are obas. The Ilorin people being what we call the foremost Muslim city in yoruba land have an Emir. Just like they have in Saudi, UAE, Afghanistan etc. They never for once had an oba in Ilorin, it was headed by a chief,/garrison commander, afonja being the last before it fell to jihadist who happen to be of fulani origin. Jihad being how Islam was propagated to most Muslim countries or state of the world, including Saudi Arabia itself |
Klinee:well Ilorin is yoruba, you can ask anyone you know who originated from the place. Hope this settles the matter |
Klinee:a simple trip to Wikipedia will enlighten you and besides how can you claim to know more than we the yorubas about the history of a Yoruba town. Saraki being yoruba or fulani is another matter, but should you ever have the opportunity to visit the emirs Palace, you shouldn't be surprised to discover that what you will hear is pure unadulterated yoruba language |
zenmaster:they never had an oba, afonja himself was a titled chief of the oyo kingdom under alaafin |
bigiyaro:emir is not a fulani title |
Nairalanders especially the igbos, pls let us learn as learning is the privilege of the living. Pls stop asking why there is an emir in Ilorin instead of an Oba. Emir is an Islamic title not a fulani or hausa title. Ilorin is predominantly Muslim and they have an emir. They may choose to have an Oba one day. But stop making it seem as if emir belongs to the fulani people, it's Arabic. Thank you. |
bigiyaro:i hoped someone else would address this before I had to, emir is an Arabic title, it doesn't belong to fulani or hausas, hausas used to have seriki as the head of their clans before the advent of the Islam. Ilorin being a predominantly Muslim city and a or the major Islamic city in yoruba land have an Islamic ruler. There was never an Oba in Ilorin at any point in time though I'm not saying the yorubas in Ilorin if they so wished but it's up to them and not me, and most certainly not you or any igbo for that matter |
Yyeske:hmm,so they could change their radical ways,if only they had chosen to be reasonable before people died.better late than never I guess. |
Yyeske:i wanted to ignore him but something told me this was how kanu started, kanu himself was asking for weapons at a time and it was there and then that the igbos people should have made it abundantly clear that no one wanted a war.now warbird has started and I'm wondering if this is a message being passed around on radio biafra and decided to once again try to call reasonable igbos to try to nip this in the bud |
OjukwuWarBird:this guy right here is an enemy of the igbo people, Mr warbird I'm not sure if this ridiculous idea is yours or something you heard on radio biafra but for you to believe this to the extent of wanting people to adopt this mad idea makes me doubt your sanity no offense. You are talking about submarines, tanks, aircrafts and etc as if it's something that can be ordered on jumia.where would you get such funds? Where would you hide such warcrafts or submarine were you able to purchase it let alone make one as if it wouldn't require massive production lines and space. Your igbo brothers who saw what you wrote and agreed or dismissed,or those who simply ignored this without calling you to order are the real enemies of the igbo. |
The easterners dodged a big bullet, I ve always said to those around me that when the time came, the igbo leaders would be the ones calling for kanu's head while the rest of nigeria watched unconcerned. You can just imagine what would have happened in abia state HD things got out of hand. Imagine somehow the ipob miscreants regrouped, somehow overpowered the army and killed them, Aba would probably have been wiped off and nigeria would be in a state of war with the theater being the south east. The Igbos, including those coming out now to say they didn't support kanu's method are one lucky bunch. Every one has hot heads but you need to be able to manage them. The Northerners didn't that's why they are being ravaged by boko Harambe and shekau, the Niger delta has a lot but they succeeded in managing them with a few lapses, we would have had our own kanu clone in South West by the name of adeyinka gradson but he knows he wouldn't get any support. The Igbos should just focus on ohaneze and refrain from trying to get a hot head champion because it just doesn't suit their culture. That way why the youths were able to misbehave that the elders couldn't do anything about it. |
libertyhope2017:You are not Ojukwu neither am I Awolowo. I don't know the full account of the events leading to the Civil War, and the exact roles each played or the reasons they had. What I do know is most yorubas dont hate you people, and if the older generation could let go why won't you people who didn't witness it. I never had issues with any igbo man till NK. And many of you will admit he made big mistakes. It's now left if you want to continue making the same mistakes or learn from them. Why fight at all if you can't concentrate on what truly matters which is victory, we can learn from the past, no need to relive it |
I dare say Igbos may eventually win my support and the majority of Yorubas if they can keep this new agitation free of hatred, incitement and of course seek allies. They should learn from the mistakes of Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB and see others rise to stand with them. Most of us don't hate igbos, neither do we wish to see any group marginalized nor subjugated. The time for hate campaign is gone and this time around,it should be about the real issues that affect us and the path we wish to follow be it restructuring or separation. |
