Well I've always been outspoken about my views. My immediate family know about my atheism though when I'm in Nigeria I call myself a "nominal christian" or apathetic christian it's kind of a soft landing . At least it's clear I'm not religious Though I have told some people about my atheism anyway it's not something i tell everybody especially in Nigeria. Somebody I just met who didn't know ANYTHING about me said my life would have been better if I believed in God Lmao |

KingEbukasBlog: [s]Atheism is based on the emotional mind and ignorance . Why do you think most unintelligent people are atheist ? Huh ? Explain that ? Why did the few intelligent atheists like Richard Dawkins and Alan Turing become one after losing a loved one ? You became an atheist because are indignant God did not help you . Explain why most people become atheist after a tragic or traumatic event in their life ?
Let me explain : Our emotions have a mind of their own . In fact , man had two minds : the rational and the emotional mind . The rational mind is of the neocortex , or the thinking brain - this brain helps us make sense of whatever we experience . The emotional brain which is a repository of our emotional reactions can function independent of the neocortex or rational mind . We can hold emotional memories without any sort of active cognitive participation or involvement . We can also hold opinions about lots of things without any conscious awareness .
So what's my point : you are an atheist because of your emotional mind not your rational mind . Your opinion about God is a product of your emotional mind apparently . Why do you think arguments against Gods existence are based on emotions like : why do people suffer , why do the innocent die , why God can't stop some bad things from happening , God is not a good God because he killed or punished people severely or why would a good God punish people in Hell ? These arguments were made based on the atheist emotions not rationality . Do you still doubt ? It is possible Stephen Hawking is most likely an atheist because of his condition , most Nairaland atheists including you are atheists because they sought help and none came ; Richard Dawkins became a rabid atheist because his daughter died , Alan Turing became an atheist after his girl friend died . These people couldn't handle these situations with equanimity and their emotional minds are speaking out not their rational minds .
Have you ever wondered why the greatest minds in the history of mankind acknowledged the existence of God and why some of these greatest minds rejected the notion of a personal God ? The ones who rejected the concept of a personal God precluded being overwhelmed by thoughts from their emotional minds so they decided that God does not intervene in the affairs of men because they clearly understood the logical consequences of outrightly repudiating the existence of God .
Don't pontificate next time and stop attempting to attach rationality and logic to atheism . Great minds like Newton , Edison , Einstein , Plato , Socrates , Xenophanes , Planck , Lincoln , Leibniz and so many others are turning in their grave whenever you do so . Choose deism if you can't handle theism .[/s]

“There can never be any real opposition between religion and science; for the one is the complement of the other. Every serious and reflective person realizes, I think, that the religious element in his nature must be recognized and cultivated if all the powers of the human soul are to act together in perfect balance and harmony. “Jesus appeared to the disciples after the resurrection in various forms. He appeared to Mary Magdalene so that they might take him for a gardener. Very ingeniously these manifestation of Jesus is to our minds difficult to penetrate. (He appears) as a gardener. The gardener plants seedlings in prepared soil. The soil must exert a physical and chemical influence so that the seed of the plant can grow. Yet this is not sufficient. The warmth and light of the sun must be added, together with rain, in order that growth may result. The seed of supernatural life, of sanctifying grace, cleanses from sin, so preparing the soul of man, and man must seek to preserve this life by his good works. He still needs the supernatural food, the body of the Lord, which received continually, develops and brings to completion of the life. So natural and supernatural must unite to the realization of the holiness to the people. Man must contribute his minimum work of toil, and God gives the growth. Truly, the seed, the talent, the grace of God is there, and man has simply to work, take the seeds to bring them to the bankers. So that we “may have life, and abundantly“.

Although I am now convinced that scientific truth is unassailable in its own field, I have never found it possible to dismiss the content of religious thinking as simply part of an outmoded phase in the consciousness of mankind, a part we shall have to give up from now on. The child knows someone must have written those books. It does not know how. It does not understand the languages in which they are written. The child dimly suspects a mysterious order in the books but doesn’t know what it is. That, it seems to me, is the attitude of even the most intelligent human being toward God.” [Italics are mine]

skeendyke: [s]Christians, do you now see why it is wisdom not to cast your pearls before swine?
Jesus never explained any mystery to the Pharisees and Saducees knowing who they were and their pattern of thinking. Rather, He confused them further by speaking to them in parables and figures of speech. Even though Christ did not offer them His pearl of wisdom we all know the Pharisees believed in the existence of God and they quoted from the Scriptures. How much more Atheists who don't believe in the existence of God, who grope in the dark and stumble lIke the Pharisees because having eyes they will not see and ears but they will not hear?
I could easily provide explanations from the Word of God in addition to the ones already given but I will never make that mistake seeing that this nairaland herd of swine feel super intelligent and on top of the world when rolling in the mud of their ignorance. It is their true nature even when they appear to leave the mud, the mud will not leave them as they are inseparable. CriticMaestro: Answer: In John 3:13 Jesus says to Nicodemus, “No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven–the Son of Man.” This verse is somewhat difficult to interpret and is often misunderstood. It is also frequently used by those who want to find contradictions in the Bible.
We must keep the verse in context. In verses 10-12, especially, we see that Jesus is talking about His authority and the validity of His teaching. Jesus tells Nicodemus that He has been teaching what He knew firsthand: “We speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen” (verse 11). Then, in verse 13 Jesus explains why He is uniquely qualified to teach of the kingdom of God—namely, because He alone came down from heaven and possesses the knowledge to teach people about heaven. Jesus alone has seen the Father, and He alone is qualified to declare God and make Him known (John 1:18).
The gist of John 3:13 is this: “None of your earthly teachers can really teach you about heaven, because none of them have actually been there. However, I have been there. In fact, it is My home. I have come to you from heaven, and I have brought with Me experiential knowledge of that place. My testimony carries weight; I can tell you the truth about salvation.” The NLT brings out the meaning well: “No one has ever gone to heaven and returned. But the Son of Man has come down from heaven.”
In claiming a heavenly abode, Jesus was claiming deity. Nicodemus himself had already admitted that Jesus was extraordinary when he said, “We know you are a teacher who has come from God” (verse 2).
Jesus was not teaching that no one had ever gone to heaven before. Obviously, the Old Testament saints had gone to heaven (or paradise) when they died (Mark 12:26-27), and Enoch and Elijah had been taken there without dying (Genesis 5:24; Hebrews 11:5; 2 Kings 2:11). Rather, He was teaching that, of all rabbis, He had the best credentials. Jesus has direct contact with heaven; He is an expert on the subject. interesting I'm not really a fan of long arguements so I'll just leave you with this Note he did not say no one has ascended and come back except him otherwise your explanation would have made 100% sense He said no one has ascended I hope you get the drift . Not to mention jesus actually belived that heaven was in the five layers of the atmosphere(there is proof of this) but when this was discovered modern Christianity has changed it too a "transcendent realm" I hope you're getting the drift Well obviously the NLT would attempt to correct the discrepancy |
