TheSixthSense: So many aspersions being hurled around. I'm disappointed just managed to read to the end. A lot of christians cannot see the fraud in their pastors right in front of them every Sunday then talk of telling which story is true or not. What is so difficult to believe that a fervent christian can become an atheist? Is Hardmirror the first or is he going to be the last? There are numerous similar stories like his, even from people with more experience and works in ministry. So, what's the big deal? Christians should challenge their faith as they say 'Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored' and if truth is absolute then it should be synonymous with curiosity and knowledge. Reading the New Testament in context as a historical text - since all the multiplicity of churches claim to be NT churches-. Read about the history of the religion you practice. Read about how the Bible you uphold came to be. Read about the doctrines you have come to believe. Read about history of your race and black people and civilisation. Read a bit of philosophy and Gnostism. I say these because no one can remain a fundamentalist with knowledge these, that's if one doesn't become atheist themselves.
What HardMirror pointed out clearly at the beginning of his story is that the supernatural in christianity is real but what is deceptive is the reason/motive behind it. His story, other than renouncing christianity, is simply saying that the miraculous experiences are not exclusive to christianity. In fact one only needs to be an illusionist with knowledge of hypnosis to perform these 'shows of miracles' synonymous with christianity. So, if these are what sustains you as a christian then a some words of advice: 'Ignorance is Bliss' and don't read about what I mentioned earlier because if you do then maybe you won't be surprised anymore when you hear of stories like these. Most ex-christian are pushed into atheism by pentecostal and charismatic circles and this shouldn't be a mystery. And also many people haven't experienced the shock of knowing what they have believed is untrue for most of their lives probably why they think becoming an atheist is some super spiritual battle. But it is not.
I was an atheist and I am now a christian and I don't find Hardmirror's narrative too ridiculous to believe, quite the contrary and I still do not doubt his story except he has been proven otherwise. Although, I think mentioning the name of a deceased person for the sake of an argument is a huge low but since it got to 10 pages because of a name l guess it is anticipated.
Some questions that should be helpful if HardMirror would respond: Please share the books or documents you came across in your research about christianity that got you absolutely convinced about your current perception christianity.
Meanwhile, Jesus Saves!!! so far this is one of the mist intellegent theistic comments on this thread |

ScienceWatch: The evidence of creation is not hard to find. The mind-blowing evidence for CREATION is put in its simplest form in John 14:12.
Dishonest, ambitious scientists earn a living by shoving insane ideas into the laps of the masses who usually have no way to verify the poo/excrement.
Jesus says to all pastors, ministers and evangelists in John 14:12 Truly, Truly, I say to you, He that believes me, the WORKS that I do will you also do; and greater WORKS than these shall you do; because I go unto my Father.
You can know a true pastor, minister, evangelist by their WORKS so that fake pastors can be separated from the real pastors. The wheat is separated from the chaff. Only the WORKS bear witness of a real pastor, not their elaborate speeches.
What are these WORKS that Jesus always refer to ? They are the miracles, prophecy, signs and wonders. Jesus also instructs all pastors, ministers, evangelists to do the same, He says to them,”As my father sent me, so send I you.” Jesus say clearly in these biblical refs that these WORKS that he does bear witness that the Father has sent him. are you a robot? |

KingEbukasBlog: Atheism never took anything further . Atheists ignorantly rejected the existence of God .
For the umpteenth time , deists see Reason , Science and Nature as evidence for God . The existence of these three is their proof , our proof. How is this difficult to understand
This "random and unpredictable" descriptions of the universe are so rebarbative .
World Renowned Physicist Michio Kaku at least admits that intelligence exists in the universe :
"I have concluded that we are in a world made by rules created by an intelligence", he said. "Believe me, everything that we call chance today won't make sense anymore. To me it is clear that we exists in a plan which is governed by rules that were created, shaped by a universal intelligence and not by chance." science is an irrefutable methodology Religion is not That's were they differ Well michio kaku may be right. Though he hasn't done original research since the 1990s....... |

The law of conservation of energy says energy can neither be created nor destroyed but can only be changed from one form into another.

KingEbukasBlog: The difference between a deist and theist is the acceptance of the immanence of God by the latter . Both the theist and deist believe that Reason , Science and Nature can serve as evidence for God . The acknowledgement of the immanence of God instigated religious beliefs and practices . ummm okay but God sure was showing his immanence in different forms. Not to mention deism arose and came to its most prominent during the philosophical change of the Enlightenment. As scientific knowledge increased, a climate of greater religious freedom developed in Europe and inconsistencies in the Bible were more freely discussed. So there were thiests before Diests. You can check out Thomas paines the age of reason. At least Diests are reasonable and sincere enough to observe inconsistencies in religious texts rather than engage in endless tiring apologetics that we get from monotheists. Diests tend to see God as an abstract logical principle rather than an anthropomorphic being with wants. And both Diests and athiests both hold the Bible and other religious works to be written mostly as human political works instead of being the holy word of any god.In fact, the only real difference lies in their explanation for the origins of time and space which they attribute to a non interfering deity. Atheism simply takes one step further than deists (note most athiests don't do this) by denying existence of any God atall. Which I think is wrong because you have to be omimiscient to be sure Not to mention the diest God is impossible to prove It is viewed as a watchmaker who created the watch and left it to run. Ooh and btw modern science is now describing a universe that is more random and unpredictable than deism might have suspected. But the monotheistic God is one that involves him or herself in the world, engages with the prayerful, even asking people to fear and adore him please people have better things to do than kiss ass Look basically according to monotheistic christian beliefs both Diests and athiests are going to hell so the Diests acknowledgment of a supreme entity is extremely unnecessary |
