I served in a village,and I can tell you that rural education is a far cry from what some of you know as 'education' in urban areas.
We SUFFER from a dearth of teachers. It's a serious issue, and we make up for it by using Corps members. NySC members rotate out every year, so no continuity. This is not sustainable.

Is that so? I also served in the north where education is a far cry from what we have in the south, but be that as it may, I know the quality of corp members who taught these children. I mean couple with the total lack of willingness to learn from the kids, and the lack of interest to teach these kids from the corp members. So what are you saying? Are you the only one who served in the rural area?

Which village and state did you serve, care to tell?

There are teachers and there are teachers, you can notjust flood schools with teachers and expect to get maximum result.

What we suffer from in Nigeria is lack of good and quality teachers.

In as much as I'll want to welcome this, I still have to say that I hope the FG knows what its doing. The life of a child isn't one to be trifled with, especially in matters of education.

Making unemployed graduates teachers, especially if they don't measure up can have very disastrous effect in the mind of a child.

I've seen this happen one time too many. Children are products of what they're exposed to, be it quality or quantity.

When did this happen? Anyway, who cares!.

Let's see how this goes. And I pray they listen. The nonsense saying that "Lagos is a no mans land" shouldn't get into the head of these protesters, because Lagos belong to a particular tribe, whether anybody likes it or not, and I'll be damned if that tribe will allow another tribe to come and ferment trouble.

That's the way to go Mr president. For progress to be made, or manner of religious sentiment and nepotism as well as tribalism must be shoved in the gutter.

This is a welcome development. I just hope these northern elders or whoever they are will listen.
