Enjay316: my Elder brother hu is a PR and my CO sponsor removed all his money from his account for down payment for a house.that was y he had to send 10,000 CAD for me to open a GIC account as proof of his willingness to support my education. he says he cannot send his statement of account cos it is reading minus cos of his heavy investment in the property he bought.however ,he will b sending his pay stub for 7 months, his employment and confirmation letter, evidence that he paid in my living expenses to my account, etc.note that I am the main sponsor and I have paid my first year tuition fee myself using form A. and I still have 9.5m sitting balance after all payment in my Naira account. He wrote in his letter of support that he is taking care of my living expenses in Canada and that I will be responsible for my school fees. hope am good to go? or should he still send his very weak account statement ? note my 2nd year school fees is 17,550 CAD I believe you r so good to go bro. That gic and first year deposit is more than enough.. In all, Grace will abound |

Should I state and explain all the lump sum that has been entering my account in my sop? 1) there's no fixed pages to sop, some writes 1pg and get their ppr, some writes 8pgs and get theirs as well, it depends on your story...whichever the case may be, ensure your sop is impressive and easy to read (free of grammatical errors) 2) pls do ensure to state every lump sum Major tip; don't assume that the VO will understand, see the vo as a baby that needs to be spoon feed. |

Queenmama03: Omo my story long oo! But i'll just go straight to the point.
First time applicant, self sponsored although I finished with a first class in economics, I have a 10yr study gap so I wasn't sure how that played out. Going for Masters in Economics at UNB. I'm employed and also have a side business I registered last year. Previous travel to US and Turkey. I wrote GRE, applied and got admission myself but when it came to visa application my liver failed me. That was where Frank (God bless his soul) came to my rescue. Timeline:
Applied 22nd Apr Vfs biometric 26th Apr Eligibility & background check started 4th May (may have been earlier but after applying I didn't check the portal until this date) Upfront Medical done 4th May Medical E-Slip uploaded 6th May Biometrics Updated 6th May (I had to email them a reminder) Medical Passed 7th May Ghost update 4th June Sent renewed passport & unconditional acceptance letter via webform 8th June Agreement prayer with husband when I noticed April applicants getting their decisions 16th June Ghost update 16th June BVL & PPR 21st June
Regarding ghost updates, I may have had more but I only check my portal once or max twice a week on average so I can't really say. Also I didn't pay school fees o, not even deposit. The Ijebu in me didn't let me part with my money before visa approval also my school didn't make it compulsory.
Document submitted Transcripts SOP GRE IELTS MBS & regular account statement (First bank doesn't have MBS so I just submitted the regular statement and included introduction letter from the bank) WAEC Certificate Degree certificate Employment letter Introduction letter from employer Study leave approval letter Consent letter from my husband We both indicated that my mum will be taking care of my kids in my absence Husband's employment letter and work related documents ID's of my parents and siblings
Hmm the waiting wasn't funny o especially when I see the type of document people submit here, at some point I felt I may not have submitted enough. I just told myself "las las if dem deny my application i'll just focus on my business''. But alas! God did it. Also special thanks to @Lekiboboe his posts really guided me when I was searching for graduate programs.
To all those still waiting, I wish you the very best, God willing it will end the praise.
signing out.
PS: If you dey go New Brunswick please hit me up make we reason one or two. Pls Queen mama, id like to ask how much was your closing balance as a self sponsored student |

GodsGabby: Hello Mister, For all the years i have been on nairaland before choosing to create an acct recently to ask my questions since its due time, i have followed all threads concerning school and immigrant especially all thread pertaining to canada, it has been a routine where student share their landing gist on The student canada thread.
The one you mentioned mostly have landing gist for those who got PR through express entry etc.
You have NO right to say that to me when all i said is in line with this thread in order to help prospective student who would be going soon too.
You can go back to threads of years back to read up landing gist that was even so common compared to now.
Please be guided. Haha!!! To say what exactly Hello, it seems that you v misunderstood me... My comment is an addition to your post and not in any way to refute what u said...why would I be against people sharing landing gist and other valuable experiences.... It's best to ask me to come clearer with what I have said before taking offenses. Be equally guided. Make peace continue to rain abeg. |

emmalextemtop: Ohh, really, you mean that
Company can sponsor? If i no longer use my dad, and uses company, will that be okay and sound genuine to the VO?
I had to stop the company sponsorship bcs i heard it won't show much prove, that i have to have strong reason, for them investing such huge money on me, all on knowledge, but parents is still very understandable. Proof of funds is not just about showing the bulky money, it's about the accessibility. How accessible would the funds be if u using company, this is what you need to emphasize on in your sop... If u wanna use company, id suggest that you show commitment by paying first year fees.. Your company can, with strong letter to back it up, however you might need to tender the company account details...IMO |

Spectro: It's a public forum, which means he also has the right to post his views on here. Just as you have the right to do the same.
But if you guys keep dragging this on, this thread will be polluted, and what's the point.
PPR just dropped.
Funny thing is I applied this month, and it's a reapplication.
Previous refusals were purpose of visit and home tie.
So I made some very serious adjustments in my reapplication. I submitted more documents to prove my family tie and explained copiously in my SOP.
The purpose of visit concerns must have been entered in error because I had very good academic/career progression, so I stressed on that, albeit politely.
As for home tie, that's pretty personal and can't share that here with you.
The most important thing is that I did a lot of explaining. I think I wrote like three different LOEs. I also attached a lot of documents as evidence.
But here is the thing, there are many ways of compiling an application. And what works for me may not work for the other person.
I wish you all the best. What caught my focusless attention in this post is, u said you reqpplied this month and got ppr this month ? Wooow!!! |

Perseverer: We hardly get updates here these days.
People will rush to their keyboards to type PPR news, writing out their list of docs, acquisitions and ample accomplishments. Including strangers that have never posted on this thread before.
But scarcely will you see people post refusals to either seek assistance from the platform or illuminate others.
Honestly, Nairaland is awash with too much PPR news, and I am sure newbies can learn from past success stories.
Apart from updates on PPR (so that one may be able to identify the stage of processing) what I believe we need to see more of are refusals and how they were tackled.
I am certain that for every PPR, there are at least 2 refusals that correspond. But na only success stories we dey hear. Do you think it's that easy to share bad news Hello, the human factor would play in here. It takes confidence to share refusals. Besides, we have different people with different emotional strengths. To you, it might seem not a big deal but bro, I pray you don't experience any form of bad news... Even if refused applicants might wanna share it, they need time to process the feeling first (I commend those that share theirs 24 hours after) please understand people are faster and eager to share that good news than bad ones. If I may also add, no one owes nobody any updates on this platform. It's in anyone's interest to do so... May we all smile las las |

Lekiboboe: You welcome, I sight you Honorable
Well as regards STATEMENT OF RESULTS showing Courses, CGPA, GPA, am not sure of this, cos I haven't seen anyone use that to apply for admission to a College, but you can mail the Graduate Office , Enrollment office, international office of those colleges you want to apply to if your STATEMENT OF RESULTS can suffice for admission application owing to the nonavailability of the Student copy of your Transcript.
Another interesting thing about these colleges is this, though Transcript is an essential document for them to process an Applicant's admission, but do you know that some of the decision by the admission commitee is not always about the Transcript you submitted. Some applicants got their admissions cos they submitted some supoorting documents that' improved their Chances of admission, most especially when you have work experience, certifications, online courses etc. related to that program you are going for.
Reason why I always suggest that applicant's (HND or B.SC holders) who wants to go for a PG.Cert program in a college should add some supporting documents to their Admission Application in order to boost their Chances of getting the Admission.
WHY YOU NEED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS TO BOOST YOUR ADMISSION CHANCES FOR A PG.CERT APPLICATION
Supporting Documents -Recommendation letter (from your boss at work, HR Manager, or lecturer, project supervisor, HOD) -Letter of Confirmation of English Language proficiency (if available) - Cover Letter (Very Important) - Professional certificates - Online Course Certification of Competition -Résumé (Canadian Style) - Very Important
The Column for uploading Supporting Docs. is always on the ONTARIO COLLEGE APPLICATION INTERNATIONAL PORTAL PAGE
See this Scenerio,
Two third 3rd Class graduate (graduate from same school, doing same job and at same work place) applied to same course at a College in Canada (Ontario), apart from the Transcript and High school result both of them concluded on submitting, one was smarter, he told his second to do an online course etc., but he overlooked it, so the smart guy did 3-online courses and got the Certificate (merged them in 1-PDF file), he drafted a Cover Letter explaining why he would be a good fit for this PG.Cert program & also drafted a Canadian Style Resume which showcased & highlighted the Job experience that relates to the PG. Cert programs.
Boom, when they started issuing LOA (Letter of Acceptance), the second guy didn't get the admission, the one that submitted the mentioned supporting documents got the admission.
So it's safe to say that , SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS CAN BE ESSENTIAL FOR AN ADMISSION SUCCESS TO A COLLEGE IN CANADA
Canadian Résumé Style & Cover Letter for Admission into a College for a PG. Cert Program (Find attached) https://www.nairaland.com/6567181/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/17#102092733
https://www.nairaland.com/5818588/canadian-student-visa-thread-part/50#89629360 Adding supporting documents can never be overemphasized. Not just to college applications, universities as well.. I remember when I contacted Carleton uni for a program, stating my cgpa (and last 2 yrs cgpa) cos I didn't meet the 80% overall cgpa. Although I was told that I didn't meet up to their req, I was also advised to add up supporting documents to aid given admission (cv, certificates, rec letter , etc)....i got the offer eventually (although it took months ) There's no such thing as submitting too many documents when it comes to applying for grad programs in Canadian schools... No leave any stone unturned!!! |
