sadly you have a much bigger, but fixable problem. Coolant will leak or burn. If no leak then it's burning. If burning then loss of power and misfires could be symptoms. Pls change technicians.

I changed technician and all the above-mentioned problems have been solved. There was actually a leak.
no more overheating, no more loss of power and no more jerking. However, another problem don show. Engine now vibrates when AC is on. Without AC, it runs smoothly. Abeg, wetin be this again? I'm tired

Next set of problems, fuel consumption and sludge.

I just found out that the stupid mechanic used Mobil xhp 20W/50 to service the engine instead of Honda synthetic blend 5W/30.

Last week Tuesday, I went to Luvinhubby's shop to buy oil (Honda synthetic blend) for the engine service. Unfortunately, his shop wasn't opened yet and i was in a hurry to get to office. So i gave my mechanic the money and wrote the name of the oil on paper for him.

I went back to collect my car later in the day. The following day, i started noticing that coolant dry up fast and the engine became very hot within few minutes. I also experienced loss of power and car jerked when accelerating. All these are strange.

I returned the car to him. First, he said 2 coils were bad. We changed coils but problem persisted. Then he removed thermostat. Coolant no longer dry up and engine doesn't get hot again. But it still takes the car longer to go from 0 to 25mph and car still jerks slightly when accelerating. From 25mph upwards, the car runs smoothly.

How did I know he used the wrong oil? I opened my boot this morning and found an empty container of Mobil XHP 20W/50. I called him to confirm, he said he used it because he couldn't find the one I told him to buy. And could not inform me before using Mobil? Even when 5W/30 was clearly written on the engine

Now, my question is, could this solely be the reason for all these problems: loss of coolant, overheating, loss of power, jerking?

Leak: any where along coolant passage.

Burn: inside engine.

The mechanic removed the thermostat and I haven't lost coolant since yesterday and my engine is no longer getting hot within minutes. He said I should leave it like that but I insist that we buy another one (thermostat) and install. I plan to do that on Saturday.

Can i tell you the truth, that guy does not really need your car to make money, he only wanted your car for rental. He uses the car for his personal use and run on uber at his own time or weekend and make ur 30k to pay you at the end of the week. if the car is having a major problem, you take care of it. This is a cool way to own a car without buying any. He can actually make that 30k with few trips. Trust me, he will pay you the 30k, but he now owns a car which he can use as he pleases without having to save to buy one.

its like borrowing money from bank and use your Porsche car as collateral. When you return from your trip, you repay the money with little interest but they have helped you to look after your car while you are away. Hope i am passing a msg.

A guy wants my car for weekly rental of 30k. The problem is that he has a 9-5 job. He swears that he can remit 30k weekly without stories.

To the experienced drivers in the house, how possible is it to combine 9-5 work with Uber and still be able to remit 30k to the car owner without stories?

I didn't scan it myself. I have attached report from the inspection of the electricals. The car is running fine, everything seems to be working perfectly. I'm just worried about the report.

Sorry sir, I mistook ect for ecu. It isn't the brainbox that is bad. It is the ect and O2 sensor. How much will it cost to replace both?

Although I do not know much about CIVIC ball joints but I Will have no fear if i want to buy it. I have been driving Honda for the past 4 years and never had any reason to fear the legs. However I take extra precautions when it comes to ball joints, I replace my ball joints every 8 months (with tokunbo ones) and they are very cheap. I know of a man who buys new OEM ball joint and replaces it every 2 years. It is simply all about preventive maintenance.

I would like to confirm if these prices are not inflated before sending the money so as to know if I should go carry my car from him and find someone trustworthy.

I plan to use the car for uber. Do u think civic 2008 is good enough for uber?
