Politics / We Need To Check The Flow Of Terrorism Financing - President Buhari by Jowanonline(m): 7:52am On Jan 28, 2018
President Muhammadu Buhari has emphasised the need to check the flow of terrorism financing. Speaking at the meeting of the African Union Peace and Security Council in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Saturday, under the theme, “Towards a Comprehensive Approach to Combat the Transnational Threat to Terrorism,” the President said:

“The need to curb the flow of terrorism financing cannot be over-emphasised. Concerted efforts must be made to not only dismantle the network between transnational organised crimes and terrorist organisations, but also to block the payment of ransom to terrorist groups.”

President Buhari said Nigeria remained committed to supporting counter terrorism efforts within the African Union and the United Nations, while recalling the UN Resolution 1373 which stressed that “any person who participates in the financing, planning, preparation or perpetration of terrorist acts should be brought to justice.”

The Nigerian leader called for resolute and coordinated initiatives by developing an African Union data base of persons or groups and entities involved in terrorist acts for use by law enforcement agents.

According to him, “Nigeria believes that the timely establishment of this tool at the continental level will be strategic in this fight.” President Buhari, while expressing Nigeria’s grave concern over the increasing threats posed by transnational terrorism and the attendant humanitarian crisis, also condemned in the strongest terms the continued activities of the terrorist groups in Africa, and around the world.

He called for more concerted action by the African body and the international community to address the global scourge.

In doing that, the President noted that the conditions that are conducive to the spread of extremism, radicalisation and terrorism must first be addressed. Similarly, he said collaborative measures must be taken to disrupt the recruitment of terrorists, their financing networks and the movement of foreign fighters.

President Buhari disclosed that Nigeria has enacted domestic anti-terrorism laws that also deal with related issues such as kidnapping, drug peddling and gun-running. He, however, noted that, “Terrorism cannot be defeated only through military force and law enforcement measures. We need to adopt a multifaceted approach of good governance, economic development and creation of job opportunities for our youth.”

Linking terrorist activities to climate change, the President reiterated Nigeria’s “important call for global action to support the recharging of the Lake Chad Basin,” which has shrunk by over 80 per cent and has impacted negatively on the livelihood of millions of people in the countries of the Basin.

According to him, “There is considerable evidence that the environmental state of the Lake contributed to the radicalisation of jobless youth who joined Boko Haram.”

In their submissions, the Chairperson of the AU Peace and Security Council, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, the African Union Commission Chairperson, Moussa Faki Mahamat, and the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, agreed on the real threat of transnational terrorism, and the need for global efforts to curb the negative trend.

The queue for that day was something else, i tried to wake oga landlord but the old man kept snoring like a broken generator "ah madam light will kill me oh" After almost an hour it got to my turn and i hurriedly went in and out, Ebere who was behind me called me out of my room when i was almost dressed for work "Dika why you no wash bathroom today" gush! I totally forgot it was my turn, i pleaded with the fair lady that i would do that when i got back but she didn't nt even let me land as she hit the attention of other tenants and the entire episode almost brought me doom if mama twins didnt stand in to do the washing for me.

"you mean she did that to you" amaka yelled, this time it was really getting too much i mean that lady was always on my case and it wasn't like i had done anything wrong to her or even crossed her path for once "amaka i don tire for ebere that lady don tire me i swear" Amaka who was already furious at the complaint calmed me down, she filled my mind with positive actions and measures to take "see babe if you no handle her matter now e go cost you wahala one day" I knew she was right nevertheless i always stood for peace even when ebere wouldn't let me have one. the araoma of the eguisi soup i prepared heightened my confidence "hope sei this one go sweet pass the others this one wei you dei smile like agbalimo wei spoil" madam light snapped walking out of the shop to go get her normal jedijedi from iya salimo, Ireti and Favor laughed at what she said mimicking her "make madam catch una for there" amaka warned coming close to have a taste of the soup, we normally took already made food home once in a week when madam light leaves for her normal jedi, she takes almost thirty minutes at Iya salumo's shop which was enough time for four of us to take enough in our coolers to last us for the week. Madam light was a good woman but very stingy, she paid us so small with the huge amount we make for her everyday, we make nothing less that thirty thousand or more in a day, from the shop and home service, it was a shift that ran among us.

The music was so loud it woke me up from the deepest of dreams, i coughed hard as i inhaled the toxic smell of cigarette and alcohol that filled my room, going outside to find out Ebere was having her birthday so paid the landlord to use the small passage the tenants were managing "which kind wickedness be this sef abeg make i comot for una no be me and una go sleep here today" mama twins murmured, taking her two handsome boys to their grandmother's place, since there was light i closed my door and switched on the fan that rolled like a swinging seat. Amaka came over later that evening, as she made her way into the passage she cursed and screamed at the visitors who blocked my entrance "make una carry una mumu self comot for their abi na there them dei do the birthday" I opened up for her smiling at her sarcasm "you dey laugh abi, how can you people continue to allow such stupid things in this compound abi una no get mouth" Stretching our on the bed I waved her , Ebube's case was not a case i wanted to disturb myself for, not that day not even a later day moreover we had our rights but she had her money.

my day to plan out, fishing out my bucket under the bed i ran to the bathroom to meet with the frustrating queue waiting for bath "Dika you still dei house" my idly landlord asked spitting out the chewing stick from his old rotten gum "oga landlord good morning abeg shei i fit use the extra bathroom i hurry i don late for work" the already whispering neighbours turned to his direction to get his reply but he already signaled that i could go on.

Strapping my towel arround my small breast, i quickly locked the bathroom handing the keys over to the old man who was already inpatient "after if i no gree na e go be like say i wicked see as u just waist my time money I no collect" walking into my room without a single word i turned on my radio to "HMgist" speeding up with the dressing and heading to work. Getting to the office took another 20mins from me due to the traffic and i knew my boss wont reason that as an excuse "Dika i no go cover for you again this one na be the last i swear" Amaka spatted out angrily moving towards Mr Badmus our usual customer, i was lucky to have a colleugue and friend like amaka in fact she was one in a million "Dika why you stand there like gbonga fish wei dog chop remain you no go go answer customers" madam light ordered . Started the usual serving as my duty required , smiling to all customers including the disgusting ones like mr Abel "Dika Dika my tomatoe how far na..." quietly i stood still at his face not wanting my madam to react negatively to my rudeness "Mr Abel what would you take today" the black pig smiled moving his gaze to my laps as he has always done since i started working here "na you naaa" he replied almost placing his hands on my breast, hitting his head with a tray i pleaded with Amaka to help me contain him "make una do my customers well oh" Madam light yelled as usual we all replied "yes ma".

It was i and amaka's turn to sweep the shop at the end of the day, and as we tidied we sang along with the melodious rythym from HMgist "how far that your mumu neighbour she still dei disturb you" amaka asked mocking me with her laughter, i dont blame her at all it was life and condition i blamed for putting a graduate like me into such predicament "today she was looking for her pant screaming repeatedly at the direction of my room" i cooperated sitting my aching waist on a chair "wait oh na pant now she dei look for ni heiheiii wetin dei worry ebere sef" Amaka teased laughing and clapping her hands . Ebere is one neighbour that i wouldnt pray for an enemy to have, she has this dominiaring spirit maybe because she has a descent job, earns fifty-five thousand in a month coupled with the i-pass-my neigbour recent achievement ahhhh she fixed the generator facing my room just to torment me.......... no one in the compound wanted to have an issue with her so they could borrow from her and at least charge their phones when NEPA does thier magic "I don tell you say make you pass this girl matter give me you say no hmm i dei pity you oh" picking up my bag we made our way home as fast as we could cause Madam light's resturant closes at 10pmm and resumes at 6am .

Politics / Re: Presidency Replies Obasanjo, Says Ex-president Ignorant Of Buhari’s Achievements by Jowanonline(m): 8:08pm On Jan 24, 2018
Jowanonline:
The Federal Government has responded to the explosive letter former President Olusegun Obasanjo sent to President Buhari yesterday in which he condemned President Bhari's style of government and advised him not to seek reelection but to rather resign now and proceed on a peaceful retirement.
Reacting to Obasanjo's letter, the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, in a statement released today, said Obasanjo is ignorant of all the laudable achievements of the Buhari led administration.
Read full statement below;
We have read the press statement by former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the State of the Nation.
For the record, Chief Obasanjo is a patriot, and he has proven this time and time again. We appreciate what he said concerning the Administration’s performance in two out of the three key issues that formed the plank of its campaign: Fighting corruption and tackling insurgency. Specifically, the former President said President Buhari must be given credit for his achievement so far in these two areas. We thank him for this.
Apparently, the former President believes that the Administration does not deserve a pass mark in the area of the economy, which is the third of our three-pronged campaign promises.
We have no doubt that in the face of massive challenges in this area, this Administration has availed itself creditably. We believe that Chief Obasanjo, because of his very busy schedule, may not have been fully availed of developments in the government’s efforts to revamp the economy, which was battered by the consequences of over-dependence on a commodity as well as unprecedented pillaging of the treasury.
Today, most of the indices by which an economy is measured are looking up. Permit me to say, however, that Nigeria would not have exited recession through a mere order or if the Administration had not made use of ”good Nigerians” who could help.
This Administration is making steady progress in its determined effort to revamp the economy, and the results are showing:
* Foreign Reserves have peaked at $40b, the highest level in about four years, and up from $24 billion just a year ago, even though when we came in, the price of oil had crashed woefully.
* According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBC), headline inflation has fallen for 11 consecutive months, standing at 15.37% as at Dec. 2017. This is the lowest inflation rate since Jan 2017, and it has met and surpassed the target set for inflation in the Administration’s Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP).
* Our determined implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) has stopped the haemorrhaging of the treasury. Some 108 billion Naira has been saved from removal of maintenance fees payable to banks, pre-TSA. The nation is being saved 24.7 billion Naira monthly with the full implementation of the TSA.
* The elimination of ghost workers has saved the nation 120 billion Naira
* At about 1.8 billion dollars, the capital inflows in the second quarter of 2017 were almost double the $908 million in the first quarter.
* In the wake of a stable Naira and increased investment inflows, Nigeria’s stock market emerged one of the best-performing in the world, delivering returns in excess of 40 percent.
* Nigeria rose 24 places on the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business ranking, and earned a place on the List of Top 10 Reformers in the world.
* According to Q3 2017 figures, agriculture export is up year-on-year by 25%, solid minerals exports are up year-on-year by 78%, raw materials exports are up 70% year-on-year and manufactured goods exports are up 22% year-on-year.
* Government agencies such as the Nigeria Customs Service are reporting highest-ever revenue collection, while JAMB, under the new management appointed by President Buhari in 2016, remitted N7.8 billion to the coffers of the federal government. The total amount remitted by JAMB between 2010 and 2016 was a paltry N51 million!
These positive indices may not have immediately impacted positively on Nigerians, but Nigerians will definitely get a new lease of life a short while from now. This is because the good news from the agricultural sector, which is recording a bumper harvest, will bring down the cost of foodstuffs, especially such staple as rice, and our massive Social Investment Programme will ease the pain of the most vulnerable in the society.
When we assumed office in 2015, some 6 million farmers were involved in rice production. Thanks to the Anchor Borrowers’ programme of this Administration, we have grown that number to over 12 million farmers. The result is that our rice import from Thailand alone has dropped from 644 metric tonnes to 22,000 MT in just two years. This is phenomenal.
Apart from rice, Nigeria is also doing well in other grains, especially Millet, Sorghum and Maize. We are now the second largest producer of sorghum after the US, the third in millet after India and our breweries are now enjoying local sourcing of those commodities.
For maize, we are producing 10 million tons while we need about 13 million tons for both human and animal nutrition. Nigeria leads the world in the yam and cassava production. We account for 70% of the world’s yam production. In two years, we hope to be the world’s largest exporter of yam! Overall, our ambition is that agriculture should rise from 25% to 40% of GDP so that we can banish poverty and overcome our economic anxiety.
Our Social Investment Programme is Nigeria’s most ambitious social welfare programme ever. Currently, 5.2 million primary school children in 28,249 schools in 19 states are being fed daily; 200,000 unemployed graduates have enlisted into the N-power Job Scheme, and a quarter of a million loans already distributed to artisans, traders, and farmers.
Finally, our investment in infrastructure is simply unprecedented. This is because infrastructure is key to faster economic growth and development.
Here is a synopsis of what we have done in this area:
* Power Generation at an all-time high of 7,000mw and all can be transmitted
* RAIL: Lagos-Kano Standard Gauge is on. Lagos-Ibadan sector ready 2019, Kano-Kaduna ready 2019; The entire stretch ready 2021; Negotiations on for Coastal Rail covering 15 cities from Lagos to Calabar.
* ROAD: 25 major highways being funded with the N100b Sukuk Bond, and all geopolitical zones are benefitting equally
This Administration is not unaware of the enormity of the challenges facing the nation, but we are up to the task. We have taken the bull by the horns, and long-suffering Nigerians will begin to experience a new lease of life as our efforts yield fruits. We will not go into a state of funk for whatever reason.
On the Herders/Farmers’ clashes, this Administration is determined to end the crisis resulting from this once and for all, not minding that fact that the clashes predate us. I will urge Nigerians to have faith in the Administration’s ability to resolve the crisis and to watch out for concrete measures in this regard.
On whether or not President Muhammadu Buhari should run for another term, it is true that many Nigerians have been calling on the President to run again, while others are opposed to his return.
However, we believe this issue is a distraction for the President at this time. This is because Mr President spends every waking hours tackling the enormous challenges facing the nation, most of which were bequeathed to his Administration by successive past Administrations. He is committed to fulfilling the mandate given to him by Nigerians in 2015. And that’s where we are right now!
Finally, we have no reason to believe that former President Obasanjo has any motive beyond the well-being of the nation in issuing his Special Press Statement. We have also taken his admonition in good faith, and we thank him most sincerely for taking time off his busy schedule to pen such a long statement.

My mum and Dad used to be happy together back in the states till she found out he was living a double life, He promised my mum it was nothing serious not knowing he married her to get citizen card over there, things began to crumble as he frequently visited Nigeria" millan took a deep breath when she got to this point of the story, her mood already changed for her eyes were teary still she wanted to continue, well i would have stopped her not to hurt herself if only she wasnt so eager to get it all of her chest "am ok" she said damping her teary eyes, i held her close and nodded so she could continue "I.....I came back from school one day to find the whole house in a mess, then my mum in her room crying her heart out as she cuddled their wedding photo, he had left her and gone to be with the other woman..... i thought i could remedy the situation on my own, i sent countless letters to my Dad about her condition but got no reply, i called but it never went through , i couldnt cope anymore so i called my grand parents who had been long upset with my mum for getting married to a nigerian man, they took her to stay with them for a while and left me on my own..the thing was my grand father wont even look at me "look how she looks like that gold digger just like her father" and my grandma "daughter of a slave" she also refered me, i was still allowed to visit my mum when she was sent to a rehabilitation centre , she was so sad and would say nothing to me but "please dont hate him please Mill" I wondered how she could still love him after all he did to her" At this point Millan's voice was cracking and tears was already pouring down her face.

"Millan you dont have to tell me if you dont feel like it" i begged but she insisted , thereafter we went to her place and she took in coacine and white whiskey, forcing the lime and raw salt into her system too "millan please you need to stop this combination...this drugs" she smiled shaking her head "Ahhhrrrghhh.... i was left all alone, no money, food nor love just shelter and i was really greatful for it, all the calls i made to that wicked man , the endless letters i wrote pouring my fears and situation was void...i thought he loved me cause that was what he showered me all my life before all of that started, i resulted to begging on the streets even if it was humiliating because of my small neighbourhood but i didnt care, when the humiliation became too much i had no choice but to result to drugs....i sold a lot of them and made lots of money too and before i could stop myself i already became an adddict, then it felt like it was under control like i could take care and control it but one mistake got me bursted , so the child care unit decided to take me in so i could get a foster parent since my mum was sick and my grand parents denied me, i was there for four weeks though it changed nothing on my drug intake, i still smuggled and even sold drugs to most of the staff working at the centre. I was told that my mum wanted to see urgently, very worried i rushed to the rehab centre and saw them take her into an ambulance she was almost lifeless, i ran into the ambulance holding her hand "i dont want to be alone mum" i told her, then she smiled at me feeling my face with her cold palms "you are not alone Mil, i love you always just learn to forgive" angrily i came out of the ambulance and told them i wasnt going with her, how could a woman who was suffering for her husband's cruelty still love him so deep that she seeks forgivness for him, she died the next day... ..yeah she died and that was it, I had almost gotten a foster parents when Mr Gimajin ordered that i be brought to Nigeria, when i was asked if i wanted to..........i smiled cause i wanted nothing more than ruining his life" At this time Mullan's confidence was back, she wasnt crying anymore. There was a lot i still wanted to know so i asked further, i asked about selvin her mum amd most importantly the drug stuff "Frooz, this things you see keep me sane really, hakeem knows and has seen what could happen if i dont take a stringe of drugs in a day, you dont want to see me that way farooz and i wouldnt want that either, as for Selvin and her mum, hmmm those two keep away from me for their good except now that you are in the picture and Selvin feels very unsafe" She laughed hard and loud falling back on her bed that was how she slept....hmmm...Millan , such a sweet soul yet torn apart, she really needed help and i was ready to give all the necessary help to make her happy, I was drawn to her in an unusual way, I loved her soon much and wanted her to be happy after all everyone deserved happiness.

she told my Dad, the bitch sold us out" Millan yelled again but this time trying to go do something nasty to Selvin, why would selvin go that far when she knew the state of her sister on that day, Oh this is not going to end well really. As expected we were summoned by the panel so we went for it, Selvin was there staring like she didnt know what she did, when it got to her turn to state the accusation.... she did so boldly but she lied, all accusations were pointed to millan and not to the both of us, she made it seem like millan was responsible for it all well even if she was the accusation wasn't well stated and millan wasn't finding it funny "so that was how miss millan here snatched the exam paper of mr farooz who was helpless at that time cause he didnt want to be impersonated" millan screamed out her innocence after Selvin's last statement "she is lying the bitch is lying" it wasn't an easy case as millan was asked to leave when she became uncontrollable.

when it was time for me to give my statement, i was very plane even if selvin tried seducing her way through my mind "whatever accusation that has been placed on miss millan and i is false , nothing like that happened on that day" The panel went very loud after my statement and i was asked to leave. After the verdict which automatically certified our innocence Prof Gimajin invited us to his office as the dean. three of us sat faced to the prof who didnt understand what was going on between us anymore "what actually happened out there" when he asked i wanted to tell him the quetsion was wrong, he was suppose to ask Selvin what she had to gain by trying to expell her own blood, Millan took out a cigarette to smoke "mannerless attitude" Selvin cursed and that provoked millan to her psycho anger , the next thing we were doing was rushing the bleeding Selvin to the emergency ward at the hospital, millan didnt go with us .... i saw her take off with hakemm, i guess she had to go take her daily doze of whatever that idiot drives into her system "Doctor how is she" the disturbed prof asked , everything was fine except for the bad bruises inflicted on Selvins face and body.

After our semester exams, millan and i went for a picnic and spent so much cash having fun, it was her idea and most of her financial input though it was worth every bit of it. I still think of Selvin, millan knew that and she respected it ... maybe that was why i loved her in a special way "romeo still thinking of juliet" she asked whenever i was lost in thought, millan was so full of life and adventure which was terribly infectious, mostimes when am not available she takes Volk with her and come back complaining he embarassed her by chasing everything in skirt. During the semester break i invited Selvin over to my place and coincidentally Millan came on that same day, with the way Selvin composed herself compared to how millan came in looking all rough walking and smelling of drugs, my family welcomed selvin in opened arms while MIllan was treated a little different , we had dinner together so a discussion about our families came up, Millan was straight not saying a word and Selvin did all the talking, my mum had to ask millan why she was all quiet "hmm she has nothing to say cause she has no background" selvin answered , as millan stood up to do the usual ....i had to calm her down before she does another catastrophy. "am sorry things went that bad" my apologies couldnt suit the burning heart of my friend , she cried so bitterly i couldnt believe it would get to that "she took him away from us, her and her evil mother...farooz you will never understand the hurt i feel inside every day i see them, they are the reason for her death ....she never died of HIV" Getting on my knees i hugged her, i hugged her so tight her tears melted my heart..... i didnt want to hear anymore of the story though it was important that i did. I drove them back to Gimanji's residence knowing well that alot of things were going to change hence forth.

Hakeem was totally miserable when he met me in Millan's apartment, he began to question how long this had been going behind his back, bla bla bla trust my instincts i gave no reply since i was assured that millan would take complete care of the situation. Millan who was currently concerned with her unclothedness being the screensaver of everyone in school used her butt to hold the problematic door, the thing is you had to hit the door hard before its completely shot tight, sometimes i ponder why millan decided to live like this when she could simply have the best Convenience. "so much nerves to want my nude go rival huh" she complained again, signaling me to help zip up her dress which i did. The fury in hakeem's eyes almost made me choke with laughter but i tried not to make the situation a comic one, Millan picked up her pack of cigarette and a bottle of white Gin at a corner and digged into it "hakeem sit your bony ass down and explain to me why you look like a cat licked your face" i lauged out thinking it was a joke till i found out that i was the only obvious sound in the room "you think its funny man you come from no where and do my girl even spend the night in her crib huh" the angry hakeem stated again moving close to me , millan who sat on her low bed concetrated on not spilling the cigarette ash on the floor than controlling her wild boyfriend "millan please control this situation ok please" she looked up and then back to what she was doing "hakeem knows better than laying a finger on you" she said indifferent on the situation however i got a hard push from hakeem who bounced on me, i kept defending myself warning him to keep away from me but he was bent on squeezing the life out of me , was still battling my way out of the disgusted hakeem's grip till his head got hit by a heavy bottle of vodka "millan what did you just do" she sat back at her position like nothing happened "dont worry he isnt dead yet, i didnt hit him at the point point" what does she even mean by the point point, i made an excuse to leave till she adviced i consider the time "once you are out of my room i am shutting the door at you no return" it was actually 2:15am and hakeem was parading the environment like he owned it? .

We were dressed dressing up to go for lectuers, i had to take a bath at her place under the terrible condition without changing my pant though i changed everyother thing thanks to millan "when you done hakeem you get your fat feet out of my house got it" as we left i kept asking if she was sure hakeem wasnt dead "thats not the first time someone's head got broken he will survive". Our first exam was on that day so there was a lot to do at the libary, we went our different ways left for my revision "hy farooz" Selvin greeted behind me , the smell of cream butter was everywhere yet i knew it was all her, i smiled in acknowledgement except that wasnt sufficient for her "apparently you still upset and i get it ok and am so so sorry just that i and millan dont get.." immediately i cut her off "thats enough, this isnt about millan this is about you and i and you just left me hanging like that" she came at my afce and pecked me in public, to me that was enough apology so i told her all was fine and we walked to the exam venue together.

The hall was still locked and there was no sign of millan around but Selvin by my side smiling and suspiciouly glaring round , finally the hall was open and as usual we forced our way in to get a comfortable seat but was dissapointed when the Invigilators in charge had to Rearrange us themselves, i and selvin were seperated and Volk sat miraculosly two rows beside me "i cant find millan" i tried signalling to him however still looking at the entrance till the exam started, still no sign of millan ....... Selvin noticed my uneasy expression and asked and i signaled there was no sign of millan, she looked back at her paper . Keeping up with the exam but still no sign of millan instead volk was choking me with questions like he was ignorant of the security situation, just then Millan walked in abnormally "millan you just coming in now" a familiar lecturer from our department asked , she just nodded struggling to get her balance ......damn she was high on drugs again, today of all days ...then..students started mumring so i had to wave my hand a bit for her to recognize me and miraculously she did, managing to keep sane she walked up to where i was sitted with an invigilator following her and sat down , the young man almost changed her seat but didnt because of the plea i had to make quietly "thanks so much sir" i quietly said still looking at the drowned millan, didnt even notice Selvin monitoring me, it was thirty minutes remaining for us to submit our work so i Swapped her paper with mine and did the writing for her trying to change my hand writing which didn't go well at the end of the day.

Travel / Photos:terrible Accident In Umuahia Abia State by Jowanonline(m): 12:25am On Jan 18, 2018
TERRIBLE
My ugly experience in umuahia the Abia state capital this afternoon.
I went to umuahia today to visit a friend from isinweke on my arrival to Okigwe park where they are loading isinweke Orieagu bus. Popularly known as mission hill umuahia, a Keke rider whose keke spoilt was assisted by his fellow keke rider with rope to draw his keke to mechanic work shop.
But the victim ran out of luck when the rope of the keke that is drawing his own keke cut off, immediately his own keke started moving backwards. The keke rider was trying to rescue himself from injury he jumped out of his keke and ended up under Dangote's trailer that was loaded with Cement. And he died instantly.
May his soul and the souls of faithful departed through the mercy of God RIP Amen.

Literature / Your Friends Can Make Or Mar You-ikechi Chimuanya Emmanuel by Jowanonline(m): 6:43pm On Jan 15, 2018
The influence and role of friends in our individual lives cannot be undervalued. It is sacrosanct to carefully choose the company we keep. Your friends have the power to make you or destroy you. It is better to be alone than in a wrong company.

You can’t be clamoring for success and yet you are around those who care less about being successful. An adage says “iron sharpens iron” and “birds of similar feather flocks together.

I’m not particularly against keeping friends. No, but what am postulating is that your choice of friends should adequately be evaluated as to the significant effect and influence of such a friend to your life. Do you have similar goals? What are they having you talk most of the time? What kind of discussion are you always in with them. Are you involved in a dialectic discussion or are they always on the abstract. Even the bible admonishes us to associate with the wise if we want to be wise (proverbs 13vs. 20). During my days in the higher citadel of learning, I surrounded myself with friends of synonymous view, and I can say without equivocation that my friends contributed hugely to my academic success. I can reminisce how we do go to night classes together, we interact and ask each other questions after about two (2) hours silent moment of reading. Most times, I do meet with my friends for clarification on any subject matter that seems to king over me.
Read CHAPTER 2-NEVER GIVE UP ON YOURSELF

I am taking time to narrate my personal experience so as to drive home my point. OPRAH WINFREY advices “surround yourself with people that will lift you higher”. If your friends aren’t helping you grow then why stick to them. You can never grow in the wrong company. The less you associate with people, the more your life will improve. Be careful with your choice of company. An adage says “show me your friends and I will tell who you are”. Meaning you can’t be anything other than the company you keep. Don’t neglect the role and impact of friends in our lives. Good friends will impact positively while the wrong association will impact negatively. Be careful of whom you share your plans and ideas with, or such plan or idea will be eliminated or perhaps murdered before your very eyes.

Some people are negative thinking experts. Such people never see possibility in anything. Insulate from such company because negativity is contagious. If your friends are not helping your spiritual, physical and financial well being, then obviously you are in the wrong company. Many great talents have been neglected as a result of advice from friends. In taking decision, be careful who you seek advice from.

Consider the advice of Edwin Paston “be careful of the books you read, as of the company you keep. For your habits and character will be as much influenced by the former as the later”.

Literature / Fear Of Failure, The Greatest Enemy Of Success-ikechi Chimanaya Emmanuel by Jowanonline(m): 10:55am On Jan 15, 2018
Chapter 2
Most unsuccessful people in the world today failed because of the fear of failure. Experience has taught me that in life, what you are scared of, tends to come your way. When you are scared of failure, then you are likely to fail. Failure is not a determinant of value or worth. That you failed in a particular business, course, subjects, etc, does not imply that you can’t possibly succeed in that same course.

Eliminating the fear of failure is the first step towards becoming successful. Like I said in chapter one, failure only means you should do that of which you failed better this time. Failing is not wrong; there is nothing absolutely wrong with failing. Where it is wrong is when you fail and didn’t learn something from your failure. A famous motivational speaker John Mason said “if you fail, pick something” very important. Every failure comes with its lesson to make you perform better next time.

Success is for the bold and courageous. Little wonder the scripture admonishes us “to be strong and courageous” (Joshua 1vs 7). Success requires being courageous and strong. You have to be courageous enough to face challenges amidst failures. You also have to be strong to get back up when you’re knocked down. Most of the prominent men and women of the world encountered failures repeatedly. But with the understanding that failure is a springboard to success, they never remained stuck on the shenanigans of failure. When you fail, learn something and try again this time with wit.

Robert f. Kennedy opined “only those who dared to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly”.

Denis Waitley added “failure should be our teacher not our undertaker. Failure is delay not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead end. Failure is something we can avoid only by saying nothing, doing nothing and being nothing”

Let’s stop seeing failure like a defeat. Thomas Edison who invented electric bulb tried 10,000 times and failed. When he was interviewed on why he never gave up having tried that good number of time. His response amazed me. In his words he said “I have not failed, I have just found out 10,000 ways that won’t work. That’s exactly what I am talking of. That is the mindset of successful people, they are never afraid of failing.

Have you already tried and failed severely? Don’t give up, get up and try again. This time around don’t be scared of failing. You can’t just quit because of temporal failure. Consider the words of Winston Churchill “success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts”.

Literature / Never Give Up On Yourself-ikechi Chimuanya Emmanuel by Jowanonline(m): 10:52pm On Jan 13, 2018
Chapter one

My early school years were not palatable ab initio. I can clearly reminisce those years of repeated terminal failures in school. Where in a class of about fifty (50) students, I would be obtaining the 40th position at the end of the academic year. At that point it was particularly like every other student was performing better than me. My friends deserted me which obviously was the needful decision they took as no one would want to associate with one whom at his possible best isn’t doing well academically. Amidst my repeated failure, I never gave up on myself. I was keen to studying and improving my academic performance at any cost.

My academic struggle seemed to have gotten to its very climax on that fateful morning which was a Sunday morning. I was woke by the voice of my father who was already sited at the parlor waiting for my arrival. With the look on his face, one could possibly tell the necessity of his intent discussion. At that point I needed no one to tell me to sit. Having cleared his throat, he started talking instinctively ‘I called you to discuss something very important. He paused for a while and continued; over the years I have been following your academic performance and I am not particularly elated over your performances so far. School is not meant for everyone and I think it will be better if you can drop out from school and decides on the particular trade you will fit in. He cleared his throat again rather sharply this time. And continued; I cannot continue lavishing my money on what is not yielding results’. At that point, I was already tensed, filled with shame and guilt which was accompanied by a tremendous acceleration of my heart beat. I felt unease because the decision of my father was contrary to mine.

I wanted to study, I wanted to go to higher institution and pursue my dream course. But that very day, it was like all hope has been dashed into the mid air, my legs couldn't carry me on the earth again. Little did I knew then that behind those words of my father was hidden intent to motivate me to rather take my studies seriously. While all these were happening, something significant took place in me. That was the way I see myself. I never wanted to give up. I upheld tenaciously my decision that come rain or high waters, I must go to higher institution. The decision of not giving up scaled me through and magically turns my academic performance around.

There is nothing you can’t be in life if you believe in yourself. The worst rejection a man can get is the rejection from him self, never say no to yourself. It is not chance that determine destiny but choice. You cannot succeed if a thousand believe in you when you don’t believe in yourself, but you will succeed when you believe in yourself even when a thousand don’t believe in you.

Edmund Hillary remarks “it is not the mountain that we conquer, but ourselves”

Most people today failed out of their own making. They failed because they couldn’t believe in themselves. They gave up on themselves which led to their failures. I don’t know of a secret to success but I know of a secret to failure which is giving up on yourself. I wouldn’t have been writing this today had it been I decided to quit. To excel academically, you have to realize that academic failures do not define your worth. Failure is a challenge to do the very thing of which you failed better. Failure creates room for change and improvement in performance, when you fail, don’t beat yourself over it. Success after all is a result of repeated failures. If you don’t fail, how will you learn?

REMEMBER “you can always succeed if you believe in yourself”. Believing is not enough; it must be backed by a corresponding action. Always believe that you can and watch how your life will magically turn around in a tremendous way.

Selvin wont listen to anything i say, the worst was i couldnt even explain what i was doing at Millan's place at that time , how i passed a night at her place was difficult to explain, it hurt me so much cause i really liked Selvin alot "Guy so wetin you wan tell me na be sei you go that milly abi na mirriand house and you no collect 3 point" at that moment nothing disgusted me more than discussing the issue with stupid Volk nevertheless i had to explain my innocence to someone and no one was ready to listen but the dude "Volk stop! I said i didnt even touch her not to talk of points, she threatened with a gun to see her off to her place and the next thing I got soft and spent the night.. She even pleaded moreever its Millan and not Mirian or whatever you just said" we were still talking when a knock came on the door, the visitor already made her way in before we could permit her in "what are you doing here millan" rapidly Volk vanished, i still didnt know why he was so scared of her cause i wasn't, she kept Skemping my room "millan please leave you have given me a lot i am still yet to handle trust me" obviously what i said didnt have any effect on whatever she came for "offer me a drink Mr and quit whining cause i didnt ride down here for that" Was she kiddinng me now really, i was so upset and tried dragging her off my room , well i got the slap of a life time...she gave me several hitting so hard i forgot she was a lady, even when i tried hitting her, her weight overwhelmed mine as she sat her heavy weight on my face, her ass was so thick i couldnt bite all i did was plead "so you ready to listen to me now isnt it" couldnt reply cause i was sulphocating but apparently she understood my response. Sweat was dripping all over me ......now i know what Volk meant, she was a she devil with a very suspicious strength "miss Emiret called she said she had been trying to get to you but to no avail so i told her we would meet her today at 3pm" still trying to catch my breath i questioned what the meeting was for "obviously you have forgotten that we are leading the physics project right" as she reminded my heart flipped more, just when i thought the last encounter was the worse......it was dificult and still difficult explaining to Selvin that i had nothing with her half sister and now we are both to head the physics pratical "no way, i aint intrested please tell her to find some other worthy student" to my greatest shock Millan didn't even object she just nodded and left.

"farooz are you ok eh guy so because of woman you turned down an honor publicly bestowed on you...i swear you dei craze" buzy with my shoe lace to go see Selvin i didnt want what Volk was saying to matter to me, truly i had never seen him that upset that way ever "see if sei you no be my friend i for slap you cause you don show me sei your mumu pass my own i swear" he kept scolding till i left. As i made my way to Selvins hostel, i tried her number but it wasn't going through......i had to ask her hostel mates but the girls i approached didn't give positive response, i decided to wait by a garden close to the hostel. sitting and hoping Selvin would walk in or out of the hostel i took up a game on my phone "let me go hakeem am done with this sheet...stop it am not in the mood let me go" kept hearing voices and struggles at the side of the chemistry building close to the place where i sat, ignoring them i continued with my game "sniff or i fucking force it inside of you" the male voice repeated , this time i stood up and approached the block "hakeem i do not want to go rough on you let me go else" Millan whose neck was threatned by hakeem's table knive , he didnt stop still squeezed the knive in and at a point she was bleeding "let the lady go" i asked gently approching him, they both stared at me in different positions "hei boy disappear from here before i send your ears home to your family in pieces" his words were straight and brutal though i didnt approach further just stood there "farooz get out i can handle this " but it didnt look like it from the way she bled, we stood arguing till the school security car passed the vicinity and immediately hakeem dropped millan and ran off.

I ended up acting a nanny to a 22year old naughty bad ass baby, yeah you heard me baby ......see Millan might be mean on the outside but there was something very sweet about her that i eventually found out, the way she touched her pillows and cuddled her scary teddy bear, it potrayed a love starving Beriefed young lady who the only way to hide her pain was by hitting it on others. She kept mumuring all night in her sleep calling our for her mum while i continued my reading in a now comfortable place, i needed to make a first class else i wont be referred to as my father's son.

She finally woke up at 4:30am , mumuring again and looking for what seemed to be her phone or hard drugs"i am helping you charge your phone here else you looking for something else" immediately i raised my voice she freezed and stared like she saw a demon "what are you doing here, what have you done to my house...what what.." before i could say any further she ordered me out of her house , it became like i broke in or something infact the embarrassment was too much for me i just had to leave.

still trying to find my way with Selvin who was too busy concentrating on an assignment than wasteful me "i could help you with that if you want" i smiled at her offering to help with sleepy eyes and begging-to-retire muscles but she just moved her way into the class. The lecture was very brief , we were giving series of revision for all courses that was how it had been since it was announced that our semester exam starts in 16 days even the lectures were preparing themselves loudly. I had to try my luck on Selvin again, actually i havent had a girlfriend since ss1 ....well my parents wont approve of the girl one bit, they even called her a Hippo! Poor girl.. that was so painful then till she finally got herself a boyfriend who happened to be my bestfriend back then in school "Guy this girl na prof pikin free her na, see fine fine chicks wei full department , no go kee yaself oh or chop better slap" Volk was getting me uncomfortable he might be right or wrong still i had to take my chances. After she rounded up her talk with a guy i didnt care to know i made my move "Uhmm Selvin would you like to have lunch with me now well if you are not buzy not that I mean you are jobless just if you are less buzy though doesnt make you less of a person i.." having no idea what i was saying I kept blabbing but i think it worked cause she was lauging real hard, and that was it ..... we made our way out for lunch at the school most expensive restaurant, well i had to treat the lady right.

Investment / The Day I Returned From Youth Service With 4300 NGN Was The Very Day I Sat Down by Jowanonline(m): 9:50am On Jan 12, 2018
It was that very day that I realized that this world was not designed to suit me. I'm totally off the plans. Nobody wants to associate with a poor guy for long. That's the reason it looks like relationships with me don't last. I am never in the picture of any woman's dream man. I guess because I am short and smallish. In movies, what you see is the man being taller than his woman, is never the other way round so what they Bleep are the women folks gonna be wanting with me. Jobs are given to those with great heights and besides most people look at me and they even think I'm just one secondary school leaver. The ideal nature of everything has nothing to do with me. A UNN lecturer, Obi Okoli told me that the Nigerian movie industry has nothing to offer a short man like me. That statement I thought about for many days then I decided to mind my business. The gifts I have put smiles on people's faces but they weren't putting money into my pocket. Some of you ain't in this situations, I have a reason for saying that this world has nothing already designed for ME. I started designing everything I come across with, I started creating my own world. A world where I will produce my own movies and act unlike Obi Okoli thinks. A world I will have a woman taller than me unlike they do in movies. A world where I will have money to buy whatever I want even though they gave me no government job. A world where no woman will say I'm asking her out on Facebook or anywhere. A world where I'm contented and comfortable with myself.

So you would believe this guy over me well what was I expecting from a runner” Millan screamed in more anger , we have literally missed the lessons for today and I prayed that none were Marked as test marks, Mr Gimajin who tried calming the situation from the onset Virtually got exhausted, I would have loved to bail the old guy out but I found out only few hours ago that this was much more than a lecturer student thing, Mr Gimajin wouldn’t take Millan’s public insult anymore and he came out clear about that “You are just so impossible Mil , haven’t I tried , haven’t I pleaded enough, must you ridicule me in this institution when you know how respected I am in this state and country” He was indeed well known, a retired Army commander who never permitted anyone to bring that memory back for reasons I wouldn’t know , as I stood at a side of the office and watched father and daughter tear themselves apart Selvin knocked and made her way in, I don’t know how to explain but her presence only ignited the fire in Millan while I stood there admiring the beautiful Selvin “Oh there goes the witch yoke” Millan said coldly walking out of the office almost pushing the fragile Selvin out.

After few minutes of silence at the office, the old Professor whose bowed head was supported by his left hand permitted me to leave apologizing for the embarrassing situation, I simply smiled waving at Selvin who didn’t seem to notice anything but her heart broken Dad. One of the cool days I met with Selvin at the library and she was really cold towards me, I also noticed Millan somewhere in the library too taking in a bottle as usual, some students say it’s a medication or so but I didn’t care. “uhhm hello Selvin” I hurried after her from the library , she halted and gave me audience like she was expecting something serious from me but I saw the disappointment in her eyes after I made my speech “Ooooh you the man who had issues with my halve sister right” halve what! I stood looking very shocked, she probably got bored with my childish speech and she walked out on me , I felt really bad but not as bad as what Millan said to me afterwards “ooh poor boy you crushing on my half blood now huh” I frowned at her wanting to walk outon her face but she held me acting like someone who was under a spell “walk me home now boy and don't think of walking out on me” I would have loudly called her off if she wasn’t pointing a pistol below my waist “take me home or it will be painful”.

My beautiful Millan, my partner and addiction…..if anyone told me I would ever live this long without millan hm that would be the end of discussion between us, millan was a part of me that my family and friends felt as well , we never had to quarrel longer than an hour since we got attracted that was how close we were and much more. We officially met during our second year in the university, she was this funky crazy little bad ass lady and everyone knew her in campus and Identified her easily cause of her low cut, gold hair, fearless and excessively naughty attitudes.

We were in the same faculty though I didn’t notice her much even if she was everywhere, always picking on someone or disturbing the class, she was regularly sent out at the middle of every class due to one naughty act or the other but at the end she makes the best grades ,maybe that was the reason most of the lectures in my faculty loved her, those who didn’t either lecturers or students was either forced to love who she was or stay out of her way or….she made your life miserable, that was my millan.

One of the exam periods during my second year, that was the first semester I guess Volk ran to me “guy you are here man you are missing a lot mhen” Staring at him for a while made me realize that what he was about saying wasn’t a meter close to academics so I went back to my book, he continued ranting about one popular student in our faculty misbehaving to an extent she almost fought with a lecturer, I smiled well maybe the lecturer deserved it for not minding his business and even if the student should be dealt with severely I thought as I went through my text book , which normal person engages in a fight publicly I asked myself. “Volk I think we should leave since you wouldn’t let me concentrate on this book” he felt very disappointed cause he expected me to enjoy his epic story, we moved towards the hostel and met a crowd gathered not too far from where we were headed, as we walked farther while a lady and her friends rudely pushed us aside to make way for themselves , they were dressed in rare colors with deep red eyes especially the one at the middle who was looking very upset, I reacted immediately “hei watch were you are going” And there she was Millan raising her strong firm hand to hit me, I dodged instead gripped her hand stronger…..she tried to loosen the grip but couldn’t “let go now” understanding the Ego filled voice pleading for no further embarrassment , I let her go immediately and continued to my hostel. Getting into my room “my guy how far now, wetin she do you” Volk who left suddenly to save himself asked as he checked me “Oga free me abeg na wetin make you run abi because of woman” He laughed at my reply telling that if I saw what she did to that Lecturer single handedly I wouldn’t even think it, stupid boy! I cursed getting my bucket so I could get a nice bath.

Photos:Fight between two brothers that led to one's life in Obowo L.G.A,Imo State.

The kindred of Ngali, in Amato Alike Autonomous Community in Obowo Local Government Area, Imo State was in siege on November 2017, as a result of the heart breaking tragedy that led to untimely stabbing to death of one of their industrious son, Mr Chima Ibemere by his cousin brother Nwaturu from the same clan.
The trans of agony happened on the day the Honourable member representing Obowo Local Government in Imo State House of Assembly, Mr Kennedy Ibe paid a courtesy visit to the youths of the aforementioned village.
On that day, some youths including Nwaturu, gathered at Achingali, the popular village square where Mr Kennedy came and addressed the youths, when Mr Kennedy finished and was about to leave, he gave the youths a financial token and ordered for drinks for them as well. So, they all(the youths) moved to a nearby beer parlour to drink. On reaching there, Mr Chima was already sitting, relaxing and sipping a bottle of beer. As they were there, the expensive joke then bursted out when the stabber(Nwaturu) started throwing words of insults at Mr Chima who was sitting on his own. Despite the molestation Chima got from Nwaturu, he never uttered a word or retaliated back. But all these insults could no longer be condoned by two of the victims as they began to fight with bottles and other lethal weapons. Youths and other people tried to separate the fight but it was unstoppable. Consequently, Chima injured Nwaturu with a screw driver, and the later victim also used a bottle to bloodily design Chima's head.
The fight turned the beer parlour into a house of commotion as they could not stop fighting. The youths connived in mass to grabbed the victims (Chima and Nwaturu) in order to stop them from fighting. Information quickly got to Chima's wife who hurriedly rushed down to the scene of the fight to plead with her husband to follow her home. Following the blood that had covered their faces, the people had to make sure the were both taking home.
It was quite unbelievable that the devil that was controlling then pushed them to go home and come out with more sophisticated weapons such as cutlass, dagger and axe. Nwaturu had gone home to get a very long sharpened cutlass and a every bright halogen torch, whereas Chima went and get other lethal weapons with his car. Sadly, immediately he got down from the car,Chima and Nwaturu began to fight again. It was then that Nwaturu made use of the torch to point it on Chima's face which made Chima to miss direction, as Nwaturu used the cutlass on Chima's belly and ran away to Otoko police station to make entry as Chima bent down holding on his stomach.
Everybody thought it was a minor issue, but we didn't know that the stabbing penetrated and cut his intestine. Immediately, he was rushed to the hospital and was rejected in that hospital. We quickly rushed him to another hospital where he was admitted conditionally. The doctor commenced treatment immediately which sustained Chima till the next morning when he could not bear and withstand the pains in addition to the loss of blood, and so, he died in the hospital.
