Flets: Nigeria has become a theatre of comedy and annoying hopelessness under this government. We'll wake up tomorrow to another NDA damage after this one.
What is wrong with Buhari understanding that force or violence cannot end the issue of the Niger Delta. His illiterate ego has been prioritized over the health of the nation's economy. Lately, he has been preaching dialogue from the sides instead of coming out fully to embrace dialogue.
When you have a dictator president, you are in trouble. When he is an illiterate dictator, you are in big trouble. When he adds being dumb into the mix, you are finished as a nation.
When you have a secondary school leaver whose father's life savings could afford a 128mb Tecno phone, he talks so drunk thinking the internet is his lousy Oshogbo village, can we really blame you?
Platinumay: As a highly educated person, I will want Hillary to win, because most of her policies are more sensible than that of Trump but in the real world these policies find it difficult to work as planned, like the tax issue, Trump plans to cut down the tax but Hillary on the other hand feels economy will crash if tax is slashed, theoretically she might be right, but we've seen situations whereby tax is slashed to relieve the citizens from the pressure they are facing and the economy still do fine, and on immigrants pouring in into America, Trump feels it's not ok because most of this immigrants are the terrorists and so on, I really think if America should be great again then Trump needs to win, but if he wins it will be difficult for me and u to enter America oo, and me I still want enter oo....lol
As a Nigerian living in Nigeria, candidate's tax policy ain't your problem, you should be concerned about their foreign policies, that is what will directly affect you.
Hillary Clinton’s election is bankrolled by American billionaires and you sincerely think she will draft a tax policy that will disfavour them? That Highly educated phrase is a joke right?
nonaira: Funny your government have yet to provide any details regarding biafran atrocities in midwest despite BIAFRA leaders themselves asked for it.
Last I checked , the biafran leaders told your Nigerian government to bring out any information they have about their atrocities to any non igbo groups in both midwest and east, likewise they would provide all information they have about Nigerian government atrocity to igbo and non igbo in midwest and east. This way everything would be out to the public to review and each area compensated for what they did to each side. Hilariously enough enough, till this very day, your government have yet to do as they requested. Infact they even took it up a notch and remove history from the curriculum. Now that begs the question , if Biafra did the atrocities as una claim, why is their relevant request of showing it to the public as well they'll compensate for what they did...ignored by your government. Hmmm I wonder why.
While I'm at it, I'm from Asaba and I remember each story about edo role in the massacre of Aniomas....that's why I find it hilarious when these things try to rewrite our history and attach us to them. Also reason i laugh at aniomas that listem to them because its obvious they don't know their history. The edo were responsible for the massacre in Igbanke, igbodo, ogwashi, and many more sadly enough...why? Because they believed they were fighting "midwest igbo". I remembered each story especially the part that edo were part of the reason midwest igbo were killed during the biafra war despite not being part of Biafra. I recall learning that Edo even dragged Igbos out of the house in Benin to be killed. My grandmother also remembered that the people that directed the troops to Ogwashi Uku were Edo people, most specifically bini. During Ogwashi uku's own massacre, the edo were literally pointing out the igbo and non igbo people to the troops....in addition to partaking actually shooting and beating aniomas to death. My grandmother remembered that detail because she saw it with her own two eyes. The only reason she and the rest of her family survived was because her dad spoke fluent bini and Esan language so her dad lied that he was Edo rather than igbo. Infact some denial of not being igbo in aniomaland started because of the singular act of edo people during the Biafra war. Very few people realize that the massacre in Anioma didn't happen just in Asaba, it happened in several anioma territories starting from Igbanke all the way down to asaba. Asaba is the most known and talked about because of Asaba close proximity of Biafra hence some of our people were able to escape to Biafra and tell the story. Ogwashi, igbodo, etc were not that lucky hence their own died down.
Are you aware that after the Asaba massacre, the actors were ambushed at Abagana by the Biafran troops. You may argue that the retaliation was meted to enemy combatants, Murtala the principal actor was later killed in a bloody coup few years after the war. That is war for you, for those of us who fan the embers of war, we must remind them that rules of engagement in battle is not sacrosanct.
BudeYahooCom: Americans are reading and documenting. Professor(s) Birf and Otanelli must be IPOB, Kanu must have bribed them to write this according to yoruba muslim sycophants of the fulanis.
Only a child like you is oblivious of the Asaba massacre.
chinjo: FROM THE UROMI VOICE ADMIN DESK ON THE PURPORTED SUSPENSION OF OUR REVERED KING ================================================== We received with horror the abominable news that our exalted Onojie, HRM Anslem Eidenojie II the Ojuromi of Uromi was purported to have been suspended by the Executive Committee of the Edo State Government led by Comrade Adam Oshiomhole, the outgoing Governor of Edo State. Oshiomhole was said to have invoked Section 28(1) of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs Law (1979) and all other Laws to order the suspension of Zaki from office as the Onojie of Uromi for a period of seven (7) days from the 26th of October 2016 to the 1st of November, 2016.
It is the greatest faux pas ever committed by anyone who calls himself the governor of Edo state. As an Edo man, he should have known that an Onojie is born and never made.
It is true that the Nigerian Constitution incorporated this power inSection 28(1) of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs Law (1979) from the British Colonialists into our legal system. It is also true that the British introduced into our legal system the ability of the State or Federal Government, by whatever name called, to suspend or depose a monarch in order to make inferior or subservient the natural leadership of the people of the various kingdoms or Ethnic groups that constitute Nigeria and to legitimise their empire. It worked well with the Yoruba (because of their method of succession), the Hausa (the Fulani were basically usurpers and thus could be removed and replaced), the Ibo, Idoma, Tiv, Berom etc (their traditional rulers were created by the British) but never worked with the Benin or the Esan. It is not about to work now.
In fact, and indeed, the British, as a result of the resistance of the Oba Ovonramwen and Okolo nojie and later, his successor Ogbidi nojie, to the incursion of the imperialists into their domains, decided to do away with the monarchy as it was practised in Benin and Uromi. They tried to create a new dynasty different from the bloodlines of Obas of Benin, and the Onojies of Uromi. They failed spectacularly.
In Benin, an attempt was made to make Chief Agho Obaseki the putative head of the Kingdom, which was rejected by the Chiefs and the People with the explanation to the British that an Oba is never made but born. Not done, they moved to crown Prince Aiguobasinwin Ovonramwen (who later became Oba Eweka II) the Oba while his father was still alive. He refused. History has it that he preferred to die than to take the throne of his father while he was still alive.
In Uromi, while Ogbidi Nojie was shipped to exile first in Calabar and later Ibadan, several attempts were made to replace him, and it didn’t succeed for the same reason. For an Onojie is never made but born. As a corollary, an Edaiken can never succeed his father while he is yet alive.
The British left this odious law in our books. The first time it was used in the immediate aftermath of our independence was when the Northern Regional Government of Sir Ahmadu Bello used it to depose Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, late Emir of Kano, the Grandfather of the present Emir. Since then, other governments whether in the North East, North West, North Central, South East, South West, and South-South have invoked this law to either suspend or remove a monarch but the Governments of first, the Western Region of Nigerian, Second, the Midwestern Region, third, Bendel State and Fourth, Edo state knew well enough not to mess with the traditional institutions of Edo or to make any tokenistic and largely ineffectual claim of attempting to depose an Oba or an Onojie of Uromi such as Oshiomhole has done. This is because it knows the validity of these God made Kings does not rise up from the formalistic instruments of state but rather from the people themselves. It knew very well that the people will never agree to pay obeisance to anyone but to the one who they regard as the father of all.
Oshiomhole, without any introspection or a sense of self, decided to cite this law to bring the entirety of the Uromi people into ridicule. Unfortunately, that law is not even worth the paper it is written on as far as the Kingship of Uromi is concerned. It can't be used to bring the father of Uromi, the King from God, our Zaki, into ridicule. It would do nothing but bring Oshiomhole into ridicule himself. For we the people of Uromi has seen this movie played out before from a force more powerful than Oshiomhole, it failed.
Oshiomhole is doomed to failure in this course he has taken. The Onojie does not need the Edo State Government to survive or for the reverence with which the people of Uromi holds him.
We, therefore, demand Oshiomhole retract this abominable letter and offer an unreserved apology to our father. He must take his filthy hands off our Kingship.
Signed by the Uromi Voice Admins
Mr illiterate Nigerian constitution torpedoes any other traditional law as far as the Republic is concerned.
EmoBoy: I love your fighting spirit ma. I wish your husband was like you. Don't let you the corrupt hypocrite Buhari drag you down. We your people are solidly behind you...
While standing solidly behind her, she is contesting a $15m suit while you have a mere 512mb Tecno phone to show for your sentiri. Donate your brain to charity, you surely don't need it.
erico2k2: Im sure you just heard of the word VIREMENT the first time in your life and thanks to Google. and for you to make ur point known you have to tell me to shut up right? VIRENMENT is just a french word , if it was English it would be transfering funds from a sector which do not need it now to one that needs it, waht I was asking is,what if there was a need for that money? you talking about it being postponed, did they also postpone the needs of the people?look at teh IDP camp, someone cleared grass with millions, was that not early intervention funds? They are complaining about NYSC, why not scrap it?We do not have no national service in the west, its wate of time They are complaining about EMbasseys, why not scrap some to save cost, afterall CANADA do not have an Embassy in Nigeria. My Council due to govt shortfall had to save £50m in two years, The are closing non essential services, they did seek virement but it was at the end of the financial year not in section. This is a LGA with bank of England backing Even the central government did same CUT cost, I may not know about Governance but I sure know about Budget cos I have to budget for my staffs at work and its same principle. So stop shouting, increasing your voice instead improve your argument.
You are talking rubbish to save face, virement doesn't mean loan only an illiterate will assume that.
You asked about the welfare of the IDPs in 2016, you seem not to know that local and foreign donors have been doing the needful in that regards, on the flip side 1.3b of their funds will be used to equip the Airforce, that will strengthen operation Gama Aiki targeting BH that displaced them in the first place, if successful, will quicken their journey back home.
The presidency said that the implementation framework for social welfare will not be ready till 2017, people like you will be first to blame the government if poorly implemented, again if they decide to do it in 2017, definitely it will be captured in the 2017 budget.
Every Nigerian graduate has an opportunity to earn a minimum wage while serving their fatherland once out of school, why should it be scrapped perhaps because your likes couldn't graduate from the University?
Why not follow the news to know how many embassies this government has closed lately.
Since you are on exile in the UK already, stay the fvck off Nigeria's buisness.
erico2k2: And when that sector which loaned its voted sum now needs that money waht happens? would it not result in a supplementary budget? and did you read waht the money was to be used for? Robing peter to pay Paul I call it.
The article says it all so why are you asking me? the article said that what it was originally proposed for has been postponed to the 2017 budget. dailies are not for the mentally weak, because you hear APC and PDP on radio doesn't means you have a clue how governance works. Who told you virement is a loan? are you sure you finished primary school? When you see topics you don't understand, shut up and move on!! you must not comment!!
You see, Russia has the fastest military in the world. They have the ability to transport weapons and troops in a limited time. If a war breaks out, it would take NATO allies a number of days to deploy troops, Russia would have destroyed neighboring NATO allies by then. Lol
I don't engage in petty talks without requisite background knowledge, I only told you what will be mobilized by NATO when you misinterpreted the NATO treaty, if you are looking for who to argue Russia VS NATO, by all means excuse my mention, I only corrected the false impression that NATO members mobilize their arsenal in part. If you think NATO is a piece of cake, ask yourself, why Russia did not retaliate when their plane was shot down by Turkey, what do you think will happen if Turkey wasn't NATO? learn from real life experience not comic books and documentaries!
SuperSupremo: Nice breakdown, and I hope you know NATO is an organization and not a country right?
The fire power of the organization is minimal compared to any powerful country.
The NATO Organization has its own arsenals weapons but does not mean all the countries that are within will submit all their national arsenals to fight for NATO as a group.
Hope you get me bro.
You seem not to understand what NATO stands for, NATO's article 5 makes its defense capability a collective responsibility of all member countries, in other words, should Russia piss off the least member, everything the 28 member bloc has will be deployed in defence of one, why do you think weaker countries run to NATO for protection?
africaken254: a recent article i read said obama is the one stopping america to act aggressively against assad in syria ,there are advisers who have actually proposed bombing of assad airforce and critical military infrastructure to stop him from bombing civilians. Hillary is in support of such measures to deter assad and assert america authority.its said Hillary and some members of the congress believe Obama weak foreign policies have made america to be ridiculed around the world.
Hillary proposed a no fly zone likely to target most of the Syrian Air Force and strategic installations, the bad news is that for you to maintain a no fly zone, you need flying assets in the zone, in 2014, Russia deployed the SAM 300/400 to protect most of Syria's airspace except the border region with Turkey. Hillary's proposal will be exposing American air force to one of the world's best air defense systems, A no fly zone will equally mean that Russian assets can be shot down in Syrian air space. just yesterday, the US spy chief in an interview called Hilary's proposal "childish", in his words, "Hillary thinks Russia is Chechnya". Donald Trump has the best foreign policy amongst the candidates, a failed foreign secretary can not make a good president, all talk no action.
TheDevilIsALai: Last year he requested and got an additional 2 trillion claiming the 2015 budget was not realistic in terms of funding even though he abandoned all existing capital projects and ran the country for 6 mths with no additional expense that will occur if ministers were appointed.
Now his record fail budget of 6.2 trillion is to be jacked up to 8 2 trillion with this supplementary budget.
Can there be anything tangible on ground that can show for this reckless budget?
If this is what you understood from the news, you are academically finished!!
egbonnla: This is suspicious. Asking for so much money two months to the end of the year. The National assembly should demand for the audit of FGN account in the past nine months before considering this fresh request for more money. How much did we earned as revenue, How much was borrowed and how much was spent. What has happened to the "recovered looted funds". What happened to the so call N6trillion budget of change? Economically, it has been a wasted year for Nigeria......and most Nigerians
It is not the fault of Nigerians that you were denied education of reasoning, Buhari is asking for "Virement", I don't expect a mentally challenged individual to know what that means. Since the Budget has been approved by NASS, he is requesting for authority to transfer funds meant for one purpose to another he thinks is of priority. Poor you!!
butanep: So she should move out just like that and start parading with a bastard son. it doesn't work that way. The guy must take responsibility. If you can Bleep a woman pregnant, then he will carry the cross.
The lady should stay and deliver the baby. The one the guy is doing now is just initial gragra to push her away. By the time she delivers, the stones in his eyes will fall off.
The fact that a girl held you by the balls with such cheap trick doesn't mean anyone else will fall for it, you have no experience, trust me!!
ladyverere: Wait, U said 'back home' then I guess U r not in Nigeria. What I said wasn't just an opinion but from stark experience. My own personal experience, not just once but 2x! Currently my colleague and best friend is also going through the same thing. Pursue men here in Nigeria and they will take U for granted. If the feeling is mutual then it is good but if it is one sided then U in trouble. U cannot force someone to love U, a thing I have learnt to my cost. U can never put ur husband before God in ur life unless of course U r a mere church goer. God first no matter what. And by the way way., I am no longer single. I was before. As for cohabitation, I maintain it is completely and utterly wrong unless the couple r not genuine and bible believing Christians then they can do whatever they want adult or not. Ur friend was lucky her man loved her genuinely for herself and the feeling is mutual. Do not assume it must be the same for every couple. To each his own. Never forget that. A lady who feels attracted to a guy should pursue him all she wants and gives herself to him but she should be ready for the consequences when he does not feel the same way towards her. A promiscuous husband would be promiscuous whether U put him first or last. A Christian wife married to a Christian husband knows the balance. Putting God first doesn't mean neglecting ur home. U say U r married but I don't see ur experience unless of course U r a free thinker in which case U will never understand my points. When God is first in ur home, He makes ur home straight. U will both understand each other and give selflessly. It will never be one sided.
I don't know the Nigeria you live in but I have never experienced where a man takes a woman for granted because she made the first move. Most girls who make the first move are girls that ordinarily don't stand a chance with you (even if you are the one initiating the chase) that is why you take them for granted, your kinda girl asking you out is the best experience you will ever have, trust me on that!
[quote author=Maaamaaa post=50488400]I will try my best not be biased about our story and if you have any questions to ask please do.
I met him last year December precisely and we both work in the same office, we became best of friends but he was in a relationship (distant) and I was single. We were really close because we both were new in town with no family around and then I fell in love with him and opened up about my feelings to him but he said he was in a relationship.
This is the point where you could have just had a fling and hope for the best!
We moved in together because of financial stress and talked about getting married next year... Late June this year I found out he had not broken up with the other lady, confronted him about it and he settled the issue.
Both of you work in the same place, so who had the financial stress? you or him? if the finance was stressful enough to make either of you to lose apartments, what do you take marriage for? Financial jamboree? Both of you are not just ready, this is the time where you should be smart enough to fvck with protection.
I got pregnant July and he asked for an abortion, I insisted on keeping the baby with or without marriage.. He finally accepted to marry me and proceeded to tell my parents(he later said I forced him to that). He accused me of so many things and called me different names.
You pretended you didn't see his unreadiness, tell me, two people who are having accommodation issues, what makes you think they can marry? you waited for him to say you forced him? well, common sense should have told you that the decision to keep the pregnancy is as good as putting a loaded gun to his head, it was no accusation, reality you are too dumb to see.
He traveled to his hometown and informed his parents about it all and met with the lady. On his return, he said the lady gives him peace and if I lose this pregnancy he will go back with her and that he loves her but he is just getting married to me because he respects my family and do not want to bring shame to me at work.
Well, that is the reality of what you did, he only stated the obvious!!
I cried, prayed and endured it all. Two weeks ago his family came for the introduction and the wedding has been fixed for December but I'm not happy.
I'm a shadow of myself, he feels disgusted by my presence and I can't say anything without him getting angry. I used to nag and quarrel a lot but I've stopped, even when I'm angry I just walk away.
He does not care about me and this pregnancy and if I tell him I'm sick or tired or anything, he will just say that I'm not the first to get pregnant and that it's when I push the baby he will take responsibility.
I have tried my best and I'm confused, last night I called him peacefully to ask him what I'm doing wrong but he said I'm disturbing him. I used to call his parents and my parents to intervene but he said I should stop that and I have stopped.
Please what can I do to save our relationship, it's not easy for me . this is not the man I fell in love with help me and please I need your advice because I am ready to do anything.
I want my child to have a normal family.
The bold part is a joke, you are bringing a child into this world to suffer for no fault of his, let me be clear, if I was that child, growing up to hear the circumstances of my birth, I will shoot you in the @rse!!
Make no mistakes; I didn't advise you because you don't deserve any, I only encouraged sane people to do what is right and have the will and discipline to do that always. You had no capacity to maintain an ordinary apartment but you think you have what it takes to raise a child? Please donate your brain to charity.
Horlufemi: WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps on the planet, so even small changes warrant some attention. This isn't a small change, though. This is a big one. WhatsApp is rolling out support for video calls in the Android app, but not everyone has the feature yet.
Video calls are becoming available seemingly at random. You won't need an app update as long as you're on one of the recent beta versions (people are reporting success on a few builds). If the person on the other end doesn't have video calling enabled yet they'll just get a voice call. You'll still be able to see the video calling UI, though. The call log shows that as a video call, but tapping the video button just pulls up an error message (below).
Update: I've had success forcing video calling to activate by wiping app data and logging in again. You can try this, but make sure you back up your chats first.

You really wanna make video calls with 3kb/s network speed? Good luck with that
opribo: We are back to the 1984 era replaying itself and Bubu knows it that is why he quickly ensured that he tours the whole world round so the mistake of not enjoying the largess of president office does not pass him by a second time. He is got nothing to offer.
It is good people like you remember why we voted for Buhari in the first place, tell Mrs Kayode to form a union with Mrs Kanu and perhaps Mrs Dasuki because that man in Aso rock has our Mandate to recover every penny taken from our national purse.
When an opposing political party comes up with a statement like this.
"What he does not know is that President Buhari is a no nonsense person. He does not take kindly to hypocrites and corruption”.
I wonder whether these clowns in the east understand that they are opposing not proposing the incumbent government, anyways they still have a lot to learn.
The clown who wrote this piece forgot that the buses were distributed to the principals of all the secondary schools in Anambra state, still in use till date. When an igbo man takes it upon himself to drag his fellow igbo man to the mud, then you wonder how such people will make it at the national level.
Nnamdi Kanu should quickly denounce Biafra and contest for presidency, he has the popularity block of the igbos, better than the present political clowns.
ehissi: This is a classic case of "Anything you say, can and will be used against you........"
It is obvious that you belong to a school of thought that lacks the intellectual capacity to make an intelligent argument without throwing around insults.
I find it fascinating though, that most times it's usually a result of a deeper problem. Which is the inability to view issues from a broader/different perspective.
Nice try with the definition though..................here is another one.
NOUN [mass noun] The safety of a nation against threats such as terrorism, war, or espionage................
For your information, Abiola's election didn't destablize the country. It was tagged as a free and fair one. Neither did the cancellation of the election destablize the country.
It was the actions of aggrieved members of the electorate of remarkable influence - after the cancellation - that created the kind of atmosphere that seemed to be a National security crisis.............
The peace pact of 2015 was provoked by 2 things. An comment allegedly credited to the US that by 2015, Nigeria as we know it will breakup and a comment credited to Buhari that if what happened in 2011 repeated itself in 2015, the baboons and the dogs will be soaked in blood (a metaphor for War).
Learn one thing, there exist on the internet, a billion and one definitions for every item on the internet. All with different perspectives.
For example, when CLEEN defined National security, it's perspective was based on access to information. When National Institute for advanced legal studies, NIALS, defined National security, it gave 2 backgrounds/basis.
A legal one (which currently reflects what exists in the National Security Act - that clearly defines what is expected of the DSS as opposed to what you assume or would have me believe).
And a non-legal one, which even includes food security as well as social security.
If you have ever undertaken a study on National security - which I doubt greatly - it would be clear to you that it's too broad to define. Hence, a nation like ours can makes assumptions on what we think National security is.
WE SIMPLY STATE WHAT WE EXPECT OF OUR AGENCIES AND DOCUMENT IT INTO LAWS. AND NOWHERE IN OUR LAWS DOES DSS NOR THE PRESIDENCY HAVE THE RIGHT TO ARREST JUDGES IN THE MANNER WITH WHICH IT WAS DONE.
Period.............it simply a matter of law and not wild guesses or assumptions.
Try getting a PhD or devote your time to research matters of significance within a research community.
It will help you understand perspectives and vantage points
I can see you don't even know how to look up definitions. You must be a child to have said that june 12 crisis did not destabilise the country. I will revisit your case when you grow up.
MXrep: omenka how far? bubu is an olodo, each boko commander released will cause destruction of lives and properties worth more than the millions of dollars the PhD holder negotiated with. BH will also kidnap more girls when they exhaust the ones they have after using them to achieve whatever goal they want and the endless cycle continues
For every captured terrorist commander, the operating strategy of the terrorist organisation is changed so that the revelation of the captive to his captor becomes worthless. On that basis, they have lost their capacity to strike in the short run hence their release pose very little threat.
conversely, in the long run, they can really be devastating because they have grown beyond ideological conviction to vengeance. However, the time it takes them to execute a plan is the same time it takes the security agencies to degrade them further so, the whole exchange is as best open ended, not bad, not right, reason it is adopted by advanced countries.
