Factually do you have aa shred of evidence to back this claim?

It simply is not true. Many people may have CLAIMED they opened accounts. Have you got evidence of those who had papers and were denied

More importantly what you fail to tell us is assuming your claim is true what happened to the money.

Was their ever any legislation empowering government to take such money or did the banks benefit

Were Ikwerres affected ? Why not how not?

What about so called DElta Igbos?

Surely such a decree or law must have been gazetted
Surely it must have made it into ONE NEWSPAPER article somewhere ?

What was the size of Bank deposits in Nigeria in total. Surely there must be some evidence of something.

Did the Nigerian government confiscate the money? By decree or what mechanism?

Our laws are not secret!!
The banks were not government owned in fact one was British and the other partly British. They could not hand over money without a decree or gazette
Funny enough, the booming smuggling buisness in the east at the time was "Ahia attack", igbos used Nigerian pounds for it, the Biafra currency had no value beyond Owerri.

You are insulting our intelligence with this nonsense.
My last post on this is, people lodged money into banks with hope of getting the equivalent, but was given a paltry of 20 pounds. My parents were victims, they told me that people contributed money across the village, but was disappointed when 20 pounds was given to them. Now answer me how much can 30 persons get from 20pounds? What ratio will you use to share it?
What happened? My parent forsake the money to the account owner, went home empty handed ,stared from the beginning and you are here .making conjectures. Why don't you go and ask people who are truly affected about their story, instead of you coming on nairaland to incur generational curses!
Ask your parents these questions;

Which currency did they have in Biafran banks?
What is the value of the currency they had in terms of exchange rates?

The FG didn't pay any money to Igbos, rather they returned a tiny fraction of the seized. If an Igbo man had £10,000 in his account, only £20 was returned to him; if the man had zero in his account, nothing was paid to him.
Your ignorance stink, what was the worth of 10,000 biafran pounds outside Biafra, I dont want to talk about Africa or the world, lets talk about Lagos.
What is the Biafran pounds worth in Lagos?
Give us exchange rates how the Biafran pounds exchanged at the time?

You had useless 10,000 Biafran pounds but recieved £20 of real value, yet you have mouth to talk rubbish.

propaganda at it best, igbo been business men have so much money in the bank before the war, after the war, whether u have equivalent or more than the aforementioned u will be given 20pounds just like given every igbo 20naira after all they have save in Nigeria bank, awolOwo took THE balance to buy shares in different company, due to they didn't laboured for it yorubas squandered the fund,
You must be a child when that policy was rolled out, igbos who still had money in the banks changed it to Biafran currency a worthless currency with no global recognition, under a policy called "Ahiara declaration"

As a matter of fact, the Biafran currency had no exchange rate so it is practically useless, except amongst Biafrans. Other Biafrans used Nigerian pounds for "Ahia attack" during the war.

After the war, the FG used that policy to mop up the useless currency from circulation by giving out those £20 notes of real value. So that was a huge favour in real value.

In as much I'd love a stable currency, the CBN should work hard to improve the value of the Naira. N360/$ is still too high especially because we virtually import everything into the country and more than average Nigerian finds his/cashflow stagnating at what it used to be in first quarter of 2015 or even going lower.

CBN pls epp us, we can't buy anything again, and bae is not happy.

360 naira seems to be an equilibrium between our forex income and expenditure, if you want to drop the naira further, you may consider begging our ungrateful igbo brothers feeding fat on our collective forex for importation, they may have a change of heart to diversify from import to manufacturing.

Politics › Re: $26billion: The Infallible Man by jpphilips(m): 6:27pm On Oct 28, 2017
Ebiezprada:
Let me start by saying that Alhaji Aliko Dangote's refinery which will have alongside it the largest petrochemical plant in West Africa when completed is worth about $12billion. That's a lot of investment from one man. It will directly improve Nigeria's economy in any angle we look at it from.
Allegations were made by Dr Ibe Kachikwu that about $26billion has been awarded in contracts illegally by the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC). Nigeria as a country has never had a budget up to that amount in a year, yet such amount has been awarded in contracts within a year. Our President who also doubles as the Minister of Petroleum resources and his crony Mr Baru who is the GMD of NNPC are from regions that have not contributed as much as 10litres of oil to support the economy of Nigeria since oil is the main driver of Nigeria's economy.
If Nigeria was a saner society than it is today, positions related to petroleum resources, whether elected or appointed would be an exclusive right of the people of the Delta. But, the good people of the Delta hardly complain about all these. As a matter of fact, most people from the Niger Delta are interested in the relative peace of the region.
As at today, Dr Ibe Kachikwu is taking the fall and people are forgetting that it is a whooping $26billion we're talking about here. There are crude oil refineries in Rivers, Delta and Kaduna states which should take good care of the country's needs as a matter of fact, but today, we're still importing refined crude oil products. Maybe we should have given Alhaji Dangote that $26billion to build us two good refineries and perhaps keep the balance as an appreciation for his work. That amount is allocated to projects that the entire masses know nothing about? Where's the fairness and transparency in that?
The kind of followership that Buhari enjoys is cult-like, where he is seen as infallible. It is on record that he misappropriated $2.4billion sometime ago which is equivalent to about $1trillion of today. Again, another $500million was lost under him and all these monies are related to petroleum. So you see, the man is just obsessed with oil. Apart from the claim to fight corruption, diversification of the economy was another song on the mouth of the current FG's lips during the pre-election campaigns. And two years later, our President still maintains his lust after oil and that's why economy diversification seems impossible under the Buhari led Government.
Unlike his supporters see him, the man Buhari is not infallible. He is full of errors, division, hate, has many faults and in reality he is weak. No matter how good his cronies might want to make the picture of today's Nigeria look, that man isn't taking Nigeria anywhere good.
Thats because you do not understand that the contract are not procurement contracts but mostly guaranteed future investments.
Politics › Re: Olisa Agbakoba Sues FG Over “lopsided Appointments” At NNPC by jpphilips(m): 6:25pm On Oct 28, 2017
activistjohnny:
Olisa Agbakoba, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria has sued the Federal Government over what he described as “lopsided appointments” at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

According to a statement signed on Monday by his media assistant, Niyi Odunmorayo, the SAN made the allegation in a suit filed at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

In the suit, he challenged the non-inclusion of the South East of the country in appointments to the NNPC Board. The legal practitioner alleged that the appointment made by the Federal Government contravened the provisions of Section 14 of the Constitution, as well as the Federal Character Commission Act.

He stated that it was also in contravention of the “provisions of Sections 42 of the Constitution of Nigeria that prohibits discrimination of any of Nigeria’s ethnic groups such as, in this case, the South East.” Agbakoba requested the court to declare the “lopsided appointments” of board members of the South East region unconstitutional, null and void.

am not quoting any act, what am saying is that if there is non, there suppose to be a board under this corruption fighting administration to checkmate excesses of individuals in awarding contracts. there is even a board under NNPC, of what purpose is it, if one of its purposes is not to checkmate contracts, only trivial things, then it is useless. after all they are the ones that unbundled NNPC

am not the one that asked them to use corruption as a campaign tool. so the chicken has come to roost let them practicalise it

Same was my experience about two months ago around same area you mentioned. There was this serious traffic jam shortly after redemption camp which took me over an hour of snail progression. Shortly after I got to a place where the traffic was much lighter, I heard a strange sound around my front tyre. Really, I wasn't sure but I just had to take precaution. I veered completely off the road and parked at the front of a company which had a reasonable setback from the man road. I didn't even put off the ignition as all I wanted to do was to check if I wasn't having a flat tyre. To my utmost astonishment, these same guys came in a black Honda civic 2001 model and crossed my car. One of them immediately occupied the driver's seat of my car and directed me to sit at the passenger's side. It seemed like armed robbery attack when the guy started driving my car to an unknown destination, driving under a bridge to join the other line, facing ibadan. It was a serious fight in the car as I was even scared if they were kidnappers. They later drove into an office and issued a ticket of 35,000. They showed me a bank very closeby, where I paid that sum before I was able to retrieve my car.
