Politics › Re: List Of Corrupt Persons That Buhari Reinstated Back To Government by jpphilips(m): 5:15pm On Oct 26, 2017
snailspeed:
Maina isn't the first person that was fired for corruption that Buhari has brought back to government. Here are a few I can remember

1. AbdulRahman Danbazzau was fired as chief of army staff for corrupt practices in purchasing of arms and gas been appointed minister of interior by buhari

2. Mohammed Barkindo was removed as NNPC MD by the late yaradua for stealing huge kickbacks from oil and and been appointed as Nigeria's Secretary General to opec by Buhari

3. Acp Zakari Bui, a man accused and dismissed for aiding boko haram kingpin kabiru Sokoto to escape from detention was reinstated and promoted by buhari.

4. Abdul Rasheed Maina, a man that ran away since 2014 and has been declared wanted by efcc for embezzlement of N2bn pension funds have been reinstated as deputy director ministry of interior.

5. Ahmed Gambo Saleh, Registrar of the Supreme Court, He stole N2.2bn belonging to the Supreme court and was caught red handed and fire, today Ahmed Gambo Saleh has now been appointed the secretary of the committee monitoring corruption trials.

6. What about timipre Sylva? Over 46 houses seized by fg has been returned to him. This is a man with no known business o.

I can go on and on listing names.

Buhari recall on Maina is a sign that any Govt no matter how reckless or irresponsible can be called to order by Citizen Power. I have no doubt in my mind though that the man’s brazen recall was orchestrated at the highest levels of governance in our country. I have no confidence also in the fight against Corruption based on many instances of “see no evil; hear no evil” displayed so far by Buhari. If the highest office in the land could have been infiltrated by rats, it’s possible that shady rats in human form also thrive there.
Maina seems to my mind to be another victim of the power-play in this same highest office with Buhari as the umpire who has lost his whistle.

The entertainment from what should be a dignified office continues to amuse us as the umpire

Not only are you not intelligent, you are not informed, Nigerian presidents dont appoint OPEC secretary generals, if you had any brain, you would show us all the links to all the scandals mentioned there in.

GENCOS are private entities. they were all sold under GEJ. They don't generate partly because politicians are using 'avengers' to burst gas pipelines. Also they are playing tom and Jerry with DISCOs and gas suppliers (NLNG). NLNG insists of selling gas to gencos for dollars. I really don't understand why NLNG, a Nigerian company is selling gas to Nigerian discos in dollars. gencos collect money from discos in naira. discos are complaining customers are not paying enough. gencos are complaining discos are not paying enough for them to buy gas and handle overhead. NLNG is complaining gencos don't pay their gas bills. Sometimes, this complaints can mean non generation of power.
NLNG does not supply gas to power stations, why should the gas not be priced in usd? when the investments that produced the gas was made in Usd? go to GE website where the Gencos purchase their turbines from and show me anyone that is priced in Naira. even the service contracts that keep the plants running are priced in Usd, You have quickly forgotten that some of our Gencos are foreign investors.
Even Nigeria (NGC) doesn't sell our gas in naira why will Total or Shell do that?

So many educated illiterates on Nairaland.

DISCOS do not generate electricity .Blame your epileptic power supply on your FG!
You are dumber than the folks you are criticizing, DISCOS don't generate electricity no doubt but their unscrupulous actions keep you in darkness anyways; let me give you some examples, I was on a facility tour in a transmission station and I realised some Discos don't buy as much as they should, what it means is that if 6hrs electricity is allocated to your area, your DIsco buys just 2hrs while the rest 4hrs are darkness. where you are not on prepaid meters, your disco will bill you for those 4hrs at month end, realistically speaking, you actually pay your disco for darkness they artificially created.

From my experience interphasing with some of them, 80% of the time you are in darkness because of issues with your substation (transformers).
Do you know that your transformer requires routine maintenance? flushing and drying the coil chamber, replacing desiccants, oil etc, it is actually written in the installation manual of those sub stations, when last did your disco do that? the result is constant substation failure, a cost that is back charged to you after enjoying months of darkness. Apart from inadequate generation and weak transmission infrastructure experienced nationwide, your Disco fvcks you worse than the government, you are just too ignorant to realize that.

Well you have a point but in reality even if "resource control" doesnt have a standard definition it doesnt change the issues on ground. Would giving "resource control" a definition end the crisis in the middle-belt? Is the aim not clear enough? Would giving "true federalism" a textbook def make ortom pay outstanding salaries or make masari and yari take western education to the next level in their states. What everyone is saying is simple; the purpose of changing from the principle of derivation to that of equity has been defeated, the rate of our development has diminished compared to our "mates of the 70's" since we started sharing oil money around to lazy govs while watching everything rot away. We need to go back to the drawing board and seek a better approach to catch up with the rest of the world, thus..."restructuring".
I'm glad you agree that "resource control" and "True federalism" are inconsequential concoctions of lazy Governors so I think we have gotten somewhere, you said changing from the principle of derivation to Equity has been defeated, can you explain the following to us;
The money shared monthly by the three tiers of government domiciled in the federation account as enshrined by section 162 of the constitution, comes from where?
Make your response elaborate enough so we will all appreciate your "sharing oil money" phrase a cliche always spewed by ignorant pitiful Nigerian youths.

Okay you are a professor in eng lang and litt, plus macroeconomics and political science...but never understood I was "in tandem" with "lg autonomy" from the onset...
And I dont care if resource control or true/fiscal federalism has a textbook definition or is only been touted by crooks, a mice in the roof isnt a enough reason to set your house on fire. The idea is self explanatory enough and close enough to devolution of powers/lg autonomy, besides just like you say, the current system hasnt benefitted the common man much, but rather has given us lazy govs waiting for allocation from abuja every month end to squander. Im in support of devolution of powers as much as a possible and a system dependent on taxation rather than monthly osusu from abuja, if you and i paid taxes of up to 50% of our incomes to our lgcs I dont think we would let them run things amok. Its simple as that.
You see why I insist most of you are illiterates, brainless politicians at state level, goes into their closet, after smoking Sk weed with Sapele water to douse the effect, jump to a studio demanding a change in administration with no acceptable definition, then a so called graduate like you runs along with it, who does sh!t like that?
You want your country to implement a meaningless agenda right?
How do you explain it to your foreign partners, you just tell them how it works and voila!! everyone goes home, let me ask you again, how did you complete elementary school? I ask humbly because while I was in Elementary school, my teacher defines every process.
If your theory or proposal has no meaning, it sure not gonna have any implementation framework, don't you agree? remind me again, what is the meaning of "true federalism" and "resource control" as concocted by Nigerian politicians? its a shame bro!!

1. appointing 15 persons without following the federal character and without a board meeting is corruption
Can you state clearly the roles and responsibilities of the NNPC board.

2. approving a whopping $26b contract without a board meeting and without the knowledge of the minister of state who is the board chairman nor the substantive minister who happens to be osinbajo whom power was handed over to while the president was sick is corruption

the president having handed over power, has no constitutional right to approve any document until power was restored to him, that means he did it alone
without passing through the crucible of checks and balances is corruption
Can you mention the contract title of those contracts and how much NNPC paid and to whom?

3. this govt having given us hope of fighting corruption could not detect that (given baru's defence) that corruption will hold sway if such an amount is approved by only two people, GMD and substantive minister without a board meeting will create room for corruption which eventually happened
Sounds like a personal opinion to me, right?

which precedence did u follow to give ur advice that we should leave our land to go and develop a country in the ocean. which new country has ever done that?
the igbos propped up businesses in various parts of the country which other tribes are not doing, even though its symbiotic, its also risky as u can see from the quit notice given by the north and we are still building to develop the country, its a huge sacrifice

other tribes u mentioned are just comfortable with being marginalized, but we are not, that's why we are speaking up. we cant all be cowed. the best u can do is to support those that want freedom instead of castigating them or u remain neutral

where are the Igbo appointees u are talking about that will develop the region. are appointees not delegated authorities that will only do the biddings of their masters?

I am talking about a de-tribalised Nigerian president that will consciously develop the Igbo region with sea port through river niger/oguta lake and railway being top on the list of priorities given our business inclination

I don't see the army fighting and killing its own citizens during the civil war to make them be part of u against their wish as defending the integrity of the nation. 3million igbos died in that war too therefore we also sacrificed, so that sacrifice of defending integrity of the nation is balanced on both sides

but no other tribe has done economic sacrifice like the igbos

u are encouraging us to go to war if we want freedom, don't forget that its both sides that will loose souls, thereafter they will still come to round table discussion to resolve issues which u are avoiding now.
don't u think it will be better to sit and talk and achieve ur aims without going to war so as to avoid the loss of precious lives
btw, USSR dissolved peacefully, cezck and Slovak the same, Eritrea the same

I just want the best for my people if we are Nigerians. I want fairness, I want justice. we are not asking to cheat u, we are only asking u to stop cheating us. remember NNPC 15 appointments
Remember, it was an advise and nothing more, you can take it or leave, while you think you can ask whatever from Nigeria including balkanizing our territorial integrity, thereby undermining our collective national security, I ask you, what was your father's role during the birth of nigeria or you think any nobody from anywhere can just question our collective existence?

you are doing your own private business, at the expense of our collective foreign reserve, you call it sacrificing for Nigeria? wow!! this is the shallowest reasoning I have heard this year, how about calling it exploiting Nigerians since you trade for profit?

A President is only detribalized when he favours the igbo region? wow!! you could have just said you are more Nigerian than everyone else grin grin grin grin, you are a breathing joke.

3m Nigerians died in the Biafran war? let me pretend I didn't notice the statistical contraption you vomited up there, people who fought on the side of Nigeria are the true heroes of the war, those who fought behind ojukwu are mere pawns in ojukwu's chess game, sad but true. It doesn't matter whether or not you believe it. I am not sure you will in coming years Eulogize people fighting behind Shekau, will you?

I only advised you to go and sandfill an Island in your quest for Biafra, if your brain interpreted it as encouraging you to go to war, by all means you have your IQ to blame for that not me.
USSR followed a process in addition to other exigencies, I didn't hear they imported a runaway radio lunatic to achieve independence did you?

Are you begging APC for appointments? wow!! that's a new one, you told our people that APC is an Hausa, Islamic party that has come to Islamize Nigeria, leading to their fatal defeat in our region, are you suggesting you want to be part of the Islamization process now that APC controls the central government? Which appointments are you interested in Just to be sure what to advise Mr President? how about Minister for Islamization? grin grin

I need you to answer this question, just to be sure I am not wasting my time with uninformed kids littered everywhere on nairaland. I have learnt lately that most of you talk rubbish with confidence.

kattytamer:
Lol...where did I disagree with lg autonomy? You misundertood my point since I put it side by side with restructuring.

And why should you realy blame those demanding for resource control? Before oil became the major source of revenue was revenue allocation not based on the principle of derivation? Then they came up with the principle of equity and what exactly has changed really? Has this so-called equity reduced the level of poverty or the almajiri population in the north for which concern the emir of kano was going to be deposed for speaking out? On the part of the fg reliance on crude oil made the fg negligent to other sectors the steel comps, power, telecoms etc, if not for the essential services provided the govt hosp, colleges and universities, as well as security agencies would have been moribund. Mainwhile ethopia with a gdp a fifth of ours is currently constructing a 6000+ megawatts hydro-power project to add to what they have on ground while we are...constructing 2nd niger bridge...The plain truth is this principle of equity has only given us a lazy and corrupt govt which benefits only those close to power. A grade 16 civil servant in kogi committed suicide because of the difficulty he found himself no thanks to the gov owing salaries for several months while the govs own largesse continues, just like it happens in other states everywhere.

The principle of equity compared with derivation is just like the proverb giving a man a fish instead of teaching him to fish, and the effect has been same as the quota system where a kid from zamfara who never took education seriously and managed to guess one or two answers rightly in a 100 question paper stands a better chance than another kid from anambra who did his homework and got 56% in same paper because one is from "an educ less developed" state, and that is now akin to a form of mental handicap with no treatment. This useless equity principle as it is today has only succeeded in creating lazy corrupt govs accross the country who tend to see themselves as demi-gods with no checks while in power to the extent a state gov could successfully send the leaderhip of his state house of assrmbly on exile with the aid of federal might....So I realy dont blame those asking for a return to "true/fiscal federalism, devolution of powers and the derivation principle", perhaps it would make some states sit up and look into harnessing the best of their environment and take human capt devt more seriously instead of breeding an army of almajiris for the sake of the numbers while their govs enjoy allocations from other regions.

Besides I dont think the derivation principle would have been jetissoned for "equity" if the niger-delta was located between sokoto, kano and katsina or the chad basin...We have just recently heard how it is improper to treat unequals equally...irrespective of what these "unequals" bring to the table? Time would tell for those in doubt...
There is no point reacting to this misconstrued epistle of yours, your opening line simply shows you did not read what I wrote but in a hurry to sell your usual baseless rhetoric, read my post again, if you so desire, then give an appropriate response that shows you have the least understanding of what I wrote, before you type further hogwash.
I said we are in tandem with LG autonomy while you interpreted it as "disagree with LG autonomy"
I have a feeling you don't understand English, kindly suggest anyother language of your choice to spare you this truck load of irrelevant wordings with no bearing with the subject of discourse.
Perhaps you think typing crap on the Internet is fun, I want to know the meaning of "resource control" and "True federalism" citing any dictionary or encyclopedia of your choice, without a definition, I am lost as any other Nigerian with sound education.
Don't bother typing further if you dont get for us the meaning of those political lexicon.

This is what I have learnt this few days of interacting with you, most of you making noise about restructuring does not even understand the structure we run except the conventional lies sold to ignorant people in the main stream media.

did our forefathers leave us with a unitary system? is this unitary system working? there will be calm if we accept what our forefathers left for us like regionalism and 50% derivation
the igbos feel that their knack for growth is being impeded through deliberate policies against its region
if u claim that the whole 900k land mass is Nigerias....... so why not develop it equally and be fair to all, why the glaring nepotism against us
your policies are making us to feel that our landmass is not included. so we know what is best for us and u wouldn't allow us

According to ur analogy, Eritrea and east timor; Ukraine and other former USSR enclaves; Croatia, Serbia and other Yugoslavia enclaves I guess all left their natural God given land for others to go and build their new countries on the atlantic and other oceans

I schooled and grew up in the west and am still there, don't be having the believe that anybody opposing u have never crossed the niger

no tribe has demonstrated more love for Nigeria through its actions like the Igbos; but we are just all demanding for simple justice and fair play which Nigeria has been denying us for more than 50yrs. or don't u think there should be reactions?

hope u have noticed that during the heat of Nnamdi Kalus agitations , the senate agreed that it was going to revisit the devolution of powers debate and vote which they earlier voted against, now they feel that they have defeated him, they are now back tracking

lesson of this is that these people know what is best for this country and refuse to do it, so blame them and not those agitating.
they are obviously waiting for another person to spring up with agitations before they start to sing about the right things to do
instead of them to make use of this window of opportunity of peace
Youngman, I only advised on how best to achieve your Biafra fantasy, I am not here to patronize the usual uninformed rhetorics of disgruntled youths.
Can you show me proof that your founding fathers bequeathed 50% derivation to you?

I am sure you are so historically malnutritioned not to know why we adopted Unitary system of governance, that is your personal problem to deal with.

What igbos are thinking or feeling is not a national problem, igbos don't make 50% of our population, if we must react to what igbos are feeling, you should be smart enough to outline what the Yorubas, Hausas, fulani, urhobo, Ijaws etc are feeling as well.

Before you can make an informed arguement on development, you should be smart enough to explain why the plethora of igbo appointees in previous administration never brought their infrastructure up to speed, if they did, there wont be any vacuum to fill at dwindled resources and borrowed funds, dont you agree?

If you envy the former USSR, Eritrea and others, you should be smart enough to do what they did. Did you hear they got to where they are by importing a lunatic from London disturbing their airwaves?

You can not prove beyond reasonable doubt that igbos have sacrifised more than other tribes in this country. The first civilian president of Yoruba extraction served in the military, defended the integrity of this country, his son is doing same, likewise several igalas, Ijaws, hausa, fulani etc have paid the supreme price for this country, while there are igbos in the military, it is silly to assume we have sacrifised more than others.
Businesses littered nationwide by igbos is not sacrifise but mere survival strategy.

How could this trash-writer be a Dr. of philosophy and yet has no single philosophical thoughts and senses in his empty ,bigoted tribal and corrupted Igbophobia head?. I weep for Nigeria. I have a message for you Mr. borrowed Dr, no unity is sustained with the barrel of guns as history has shown that. Let me put it to you, no amount of fabrication of words, employment of weapons, armaments and military invasion will give Nigeria unity and as long as day and night remains,Biafrans will continue to seek for freedom until freedom is gotten. If people like respected Prof. Wole Soyinka can assert that no amount of usage of weapons and military invasion can stop agitation for Biafra and if after killing over 10 million Biafrans just 50 years ago and the agitation for Biafra can hit the zoo this hard, I don't see how your useless and carelessly arranged article here can be more lethal than weapons against the quest for independent of Biafra. So, get that into your rotten and quota Dr brain that millions of you can not stop Biafra and that our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is greater than you and your entire generation and the struggle for Biafra is greater and beyond Kanu.
Biafra died in 1970, anybody still playing around the thought of Biafra should better use his blood for rituals than wasting it on the streets, what myopic igbos like you fail to understand is that Biafra only serves the purpose of petty traders in the east, not real igbos with serious enlightenment.

as far am concerned its the yorubas that are holding us back because they have never supported our quest but opposing us both intellectually and with use of force, we are suppose to be partners but they always leave us in the cold and laugh at our pains just like the Aba massacre

the fact is that Igbos are just too invaluable to all the tribes in Nigeria for them to be spilling blood just to keep them
People like you are so used to those eastern caves that basic common sense must be interpreted with ethnic pettiness, Igbos in Nigeria have carved a niche that we collectively depend on, I am sure a lot of igbos in the west and elsewhere equally needs the protection of the Nigerian state perhaps from the reprisal of the arrogance of the umuahia lunatic, after all, there is no general consensus on his biafra meat pie.

The Nigeria our founding fathers left for us (all the ethnic groups) has a landmass of over 900k square kilometers, it doesn't belong to igbos alone, on that landmass and population, we have built our collective national security, so if you really want to leave, you may consider the option of leaving our landmass intact, you may go to any international waters, sand fill out a private country and name it your Biafra, igbos are wealthy they can afford it, I bet Nigeria will not disturb you, individuals like Richard Branson has made such investments, Countries like china have created private islands from the South china sea, that will be a test of fate for those who really want this biafra.
Attempting to take the land mass of all nigerians and convert it to Igbo only territory when other Igbos will have to share the rest of the country with the other tribes, is not only a suicidal but selfish and arrogant thought, one that even an igbo president knows must be met with force.

When others ask you to leave, they mean leave with your soul & body but leave our lands behind, Cameroon may not want to sell us theirs neither would Benin republic, i doubt if we have the military might to maintain overseas territories, the reason you got education is to earn some sense, i can see that most of those eastern cave dwellers lack it.

The secessionist insurrection of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) took a dramatic turn in the week ended Saturday, September 23, 2017, during which the secessionist group was proscribed and its erstwhile boastful leader, Nnamdi Kanu, took to his heels when confronted with fired up soldiers. Reminds you of another boastful secessionist in Biafra 1 – Emeka Odimegwu Ojukwu – who also went on the lam when federal troops closed in on him back in January 1970? At least, Ojukwu walked the talk of war, but this wet pants peed on only hearing the sound of guns! So much for the empty braggadocio! Also during the same week, there was an international angle to the secessionist agitation as the Federal Government decided to name two countries – Britain and France – as collaborators in IPOB’s partitioning agenda.

Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Lai Mohammed, told the nation on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 how Britain and France have been tacitly complicit with IPOB in its destabilisation of Nigeria. Britain, stated the minister, continues to tolerate Radio Biafra’s hate and incendiary broadcasts from London while France is said to be the financial clearing house of IPOB from where funds flow to the secessionist group. The minister had asserted: “Let me tell you, the financial headquarters (of IPOB) is in France, we know” and also posed a rhetorical question: “Who does not know that IPOB internal radio is located in London?” Mohammed explained how Britain had been frustrating Nigeria’s diplomatic efforts with the British authorities to shut down the pirate radio station only to be given the nebulous excuse of freedom of expression.

He had wondered: “If we have a person in Nigeria openly soliciting arms to come and fight in the UK, what would you think of it. Would you consider that freedom of expression?” The minister implied that the two countries have been engaged in semantics or what I would call diplomatic jousting. Minister Mohammed spoke of “knotty diplomatic issues which you need to skip” only to add in a double talk “I don’t want any diplomatic row.” Of course, the minister knew the charges against the two countries would spark diplomatic skirmishes, perhaps low level, for now.

Well, these are trying times in Nigeria and nationalist fervor demands that the country must be ready to ruffle some diplomatic nests in defense of the sanctity of her territorial integrity and sovereignty. There is reciprocity in diplomatic relations. We need to remember that Britain and France have played ignoble roles in the international arena in recent times under the self-serving subterfuge called ‘International Community.’ Britain followed the United States to declare war on Iraq on the lie that Iraqi President, Saddam Hussein, had ‘weapons of mass destruction’ which must be neutralised.

They ended up destroying that country and got its president hanged, as a rub in. Yet, Tony Blair, the then British Prime Minister, who stridently orchestrated Gulf War II could still face the world and declare that he had no apology for the destruction of Iraq, a country that has not known peace since. Such brazenness! Such denial of criminal culpability by a British Prime Minister who had made a past time of pillorying President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe whose main offence was winning re-elections in his country.

Apparently, Blair, with imperialist hang-over, wanted a regime change in Zimbabwe but met more than his match in President Mugabe, who once derisively called him Tony b-Liar. The old Zimbabwean war horse was right, Tony Blair lied on Iraq. So, if Britain condoned the Iraqi war, why is the Nigerian government peeved by the British High Commission’s statement condoning Radio Biafra’s hate and inciting broadcasts on the puerile doctrine of freedom of expression? The same Britain that shut down the Internet when youths went on rampage in London on the excuse that they were using it to network and mobilize others for the riot.

Talk of diplomatic duplicity or double standard. The immediate past British Prime Minister, chubby boy, David Cameron, in an expansive mood, once described Nigeria as a fantastically corrupt country, another brazenness from a country that is fantastically a receiver of stolen funds, being the financial capital of the world, both legitimate and illicit. Well, it was good riddance, as the political gambler fantastically lost the Brexit vote that saw to his exit from 10, Downing Street, the Prime Minister’s official residence.

As for France, it supported Biafra I and facilitated Emeka Ojukwu’s exile in Ivory Coast, her satellite nation, so, it should be no surprise that it is the financial clearing house for IPOB, the leading agent for Biafra II. France was indicted in the Rwanda Genocide of 1994, in which an estimated 800,000 Tutsis lost their lives, for being complicit with the then Hutu-led government. France also led the Western onslaught on Libya that saw the killing of Libyan leader, Muamar Gaddafi. In 2011, France, brazenly thwarted the will of the Ivorian people, when under the cover of ‘International Community’ mandate, it provided military support for a candidate, Alassane Quattara, in Cote D’Ivoire’s disputed presidential election conflict to capture a sitting African President, Laurent Gbagbo! Gbagbo had won the majority vote in the main election and was pronounced winner of the re-run election by the country’s Constitutional Court only for the UN Representative in Cote D’Ivoire to assume the role of electoral commission to declare Quattara as the winner!!

Sadly, Nigeria’s naïve President Goodluck Jonathan, as ECOWAS leader, had endorsed the UN envoy’s verdict, and consequent UN mandate, which accorded French military partisan involvement a dubious legitimacy. Cote D’Ivoire is France’s milking cow, a situation President Gbagbo had ended, so the empire struck back. With Quattara, who is married to a French woman, in charge, France has returned to gravy train in Cote D’Ivoire while President Gbagbo languishes in detention at The Hague facing criminal charges at the International Court of Justice.

The West sent Gbagbo to jail for a domestic conflict arising from an election dispute, but Tony Blair still struts around, a free man. Talk of the hypocrisy of the ‘International Community.

Nigeria’s political leadership should be under no illusion about any affectionate love from Britain or France, and, by extension, western countries. Britain and France are yesterday’s countries, over whose empires the sun has set, now playing a fickle third fiddle in international power relations and struggling for residual relevance in Africa. Nigeria, on the other hand, is a country of the future with great potentials which some vested interests may not want manifested being a threat to their hegemonic hold. You see, no country in Europe has Nigeria’s landmass, natural resources or population.

According to worldometers.info (2017) the combined population of Britain (66.2 million) and France (64.9 million) is 131.1 million compared to Nigeria’s 192.06 million while the combined landmass of Britain and France is 789,487sq km as against Nigeria’s 910,770sq km. Given these endowments plus high caliber human capital, the prospects of Nigeria as the great Black Hope is bright. We can now begin to understand why many countries would have dubious designs on Nigeria and would not be averse to its disintegration.

This can only come from a lecturer in a Nigerian university, evident in his loss of touch with Global realities.
myopic adjudications like this is a proof that the quality of lecturers is the reason graduates leave our higher institutions worse than undergraduates their entry status.

The crux of this man's opinion is that since IPOB has a foreign account domiciled in France, Paris has become complicit in IPOB affairs, on the other hand, Since Britain still allows radio Biafra to thrive then, london is complicit in IPOB affairs, this s!lly conclusion can only be drawn by an academic misfit, unfortunately, he feeds our undergraduates with this kinda jargon, rendering them impotent in the larger world.

In 2016, the Turkish government through its Ambassador to Nigeria handed us a list of 17 schools and several hospitals fingered to be owned by the Gulen movement accused of masterminding a failed coup in Turkey, hoping to use diplomatic influence to cripple their source of external funding by extension their investments abroad, we replied Ankra that whatever they did in Turkey isn't our problem, to us, they are much desired foreign investors assisting the growth of our economy. Never mind that the US had asked the Turkish government to provide proof of the Gulen involvement before its leader can be extradited, Turkey is yet to comply with that directive. Till date those schools are up and running, thanks to diplomacy of protectionism and national interest.

Never do wells like Lai Mohammed who ordinarily is best fit for a propaganda machinery should stop disgracing Nigeria on the global stage, why do you need to beg Britain to shut down radio Biafra? is it in the British interest to do so? how many transponders of economic importance will have to go down just to satisfy the brutish curiosity of the Nigerian government? don't think there are stand alone stations on a communication satellite.
Lai mohammed should give us one good reason why the UK should shut down radio Biafra, since we all agree that the whole freedom of speech excuse is nonsense, I could remember vividly in recent past when there was a diplomatic row between the Iranian government and the UK, anti Israeli and anti semitic rhetorics saturated the airwaves, the british government banned the Iranian owned Press Tv till further notice, isn't that a breach of speech freedom?
Lai mohammed must understand that the world does not care of his existence, he may be a minister in nigeria today, over there, he is just another bloody African that usually begs for visa at the Embassy, the british governmnet doesnt owe him sh!t neither do they care about his existence, going there to make demands is the most stup!d diplomatic move i've heard so far.

The infamous Dr omawumi is completely out of touch with reality when he assumed that Britain owes us something when we allow looters to export our common wealth to foreign treasuries, it is no right but a privilege if they choose to assist in its repatriation after all, the British government did not ask us to elect petty thieves with leaking institutions, it is a shame when Dr Omawumi has misplaced simple magnanimity for entitlement. what happened to frequency jammers if we are so desperate to shut down radio Biafra? does Britain look like a houseboy at our beck and call? The Nigerian authorities must use this incident as a learning point to up our ante, not only in diplomacy but in technological self reliance.

IPOB may decide to use proxies to control the accounts having members globally, what diplomatic reason does France have to shut the said accounts? if it must be done and perhaps monies remitted to us because we are Nigeria the giant of Africa? Does Lai mohammed really think the French authorities are stup!d?

I agree completely corruption must be tackled, i agree IPOB is a clandestine group that deserve no attention in Nigeria however, bothering other countries with our petty issues is a joke taken too far.

Nigerians may recall that one of the biggest criticism that trailed the government of President Goodluck Jonathan administration was his lukewarmness to take action in his then Chairman of Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Maina despite several recommendations by the 7th Senate. Though he would later fire Maina when it got too hot, many, including the opposition felt a lot of damage had already been done. It is however shocking and evil to see the reappearance of Maina under the Muhammadu Buhari government.

The Man Maina And What He Stood For
Maina, an Assistant Director in charge of Customs,Immigration and Prisons Pension in the Federal ministry of Interior within the human resources department, was appointed the Chairman on Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms by Goodluck Jonathan's administration. The key mandate of the task force was to sanitise public pension sector that has been enmeshed in acute corruption, his position was like a sort of cop.

https://vanguardngr.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Maina-Abdulrasheed.jpg

To his credit, Maina's Team blew the whistle that led to the investigation, prosecution and "conviction" of Mr. John Yakubu Yusufu, then serving Assistant Director who stole over N2 billion belonging to Police pensioners. He pleaded guilty and was tried alongside accomplices that include; then Permanent Secretary, Atiku Abubakar Kigo, the Director, Ahmed Inuwa Wada, Cashier Veronica Onyegbula and Sani Habila Zira the ICT Officer.

N/B: Despite pleading guilty to the stealing of N2 billion belonging to retired policemen, Mr Yusufu was told by the trial judge, Justice Abubakar Talba of Abuja High Court to forfeit properties that weren't worth 200 million naira and pay N250,000 fine to avoid going to jail. He paid right there in court.

Maina was however accused of "re-stealing" N2 billion belonging to pensioners by pensioners through petitions to both the Senate and House of Representative. He was invited by the Senate joint committee on public service and establishment led by Aloysius Etok to defend himself but refused to honor any invitation, the Senate subsequently issued an arrest warrant on him. Maina absconded the country after the police management withdrew his security details and placed him on Wanted List. He was equally fired from the Civil service for absconding from duty and his failure to respond to summons.

It is unfortunate that such a man could be returned to the service through the backdoor by an administration that came to power through its anti corruption rhetoric.

Who Is Liable For Maina's Return?
In my candid opinion, the following people are primarily liable for the return of Maina.

1. Gen (Dr) Abdulrahman Dambazzau: The Interior minister, who is also in charge of supervision of Nigeria Police that had declared Maina a fugitive cannot turnaround to claim innocence. The fugitive was posted to his ministry as a director of Human Relations (if his claim is correct). Part of citizens responsibility (as demanded by the law) is to arrest fugitives and hand them over to security agencies or give valuable information that will lead to arrest of fugitive. Maina, being a fugitive was supposed to have been arrested by citizen Dambazzau and handover to the Police or EFCC that declared him Wanted. As public servant, Dambazzau is under a oath to uphold, protect and defend the laws of land, which he failed to in this case.

2. Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita (Head of Service, HOSF): She is in charge of posting, reposting and discipline of civil servants. I am very sure she is aware of Maina return and approved his payment of benefits. As HOSF, she was expected to understand the implication of the return of Maina as an infringement on civil service rules.

3. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior: Being the Chief Accounting Officer of the ministry, the "Perm sec" cannot claim ignorance of this backdoor appointment.

4. President Muhammadu Buhari: The bucks stops at his table! He can't claim ignorance of Maina return because such senior level appointment/reappointment cannot take effect without his authorised approval/signature upon the recommendations of HOSF and Federal Civil Service Commission. His recent claim of ignorance is simply face-saving to get someone take the fall.

Appropriate Action
What is appropriate now is for the President to fire/suspend everyone with link (or possible link) to the reappointment of Maina and judiciously institute a probe to unravel all the real perpetrators of this wicked act. They have betrayed the trusts of Nigeria people especially pensioners, whose monies were squandered by Maina and likes after putting decades into the service of the country.

As for Buhari, I'm sure Nigerians should be tired of him already. The scandal he has been linked with in less than 3 years in government is more than the entire scandal in the 5+ years of the past administration. He has no moral justification remaining in office beyond the May 29, 2019 mandate given him by the Nigeria electorate on March 28, 2015 and which came to effect on May 29, 2015.

Sacking Maina is not enough, Baba Must Go!
President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday directed the immediate dismissal of Abdulrasheed Maina, a civil servant who went missing for years after being declared wanted for corruption, but was recently reinstated to a higher post.
The president said the circumstances of Mr. Maina’s return to the civil service must be investigated.
A statement by presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, said Mr. Buhari had ordered “immediate disengagement of Mr Abdulrasheed Maina from service.”
The president directed the Head of Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, to submit to the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, before the end of work today, Monday, a report on the circumstances leading to Mr. Maina’s recall.

For example:
Magu's case:[/b] We all know this is corruption fighting back. the House Magu was accused of living-in, was rented for him by the FCDA.
magu was never accused of looting any money by anybody or any proof shown to that effect.
How then can you say he is corrupt, just because another "angry" cabinet Minister who is in-bed with looters (DSS Chief) wrote a contradictory report over him?
Absolutely correct!!

Kachukwu's case: Kachukwu himself has come out to clarify that he did not say baru or what is his name, stole $25B or that the money was missing. His allegation was that the guy was bypassing him as his superior. That one is not corruption but insurbordination for which baru should be queried and sanctioned.
Majority of losers commenting on the NNPC case have no clue what Kachikwu was complaining about, all they did was hear a figure and they became corruption prophets.

Babachir Lawal: That man is a conformed rogue but you dont expect the President to make a negative pronouncement on someone, without a proper investigation and irrefutable proof. PMB has to stand on the path of caution until otherwise is proved.
And he then ordered an investigation which has made recommendations to the President. What we need is for the President ot be seen to take action as recommended.
How is Buhari corrupt in that one?
Babachair lawal remains suspended till date.

Dasukigate: Dasuki perpetrated a lot of fraud under Jonathan, with the approval and connivance of Jonathan himself.
All the people you mentioned, that were arrested by the EFCC were fingered by Dasuki himself and some of them have pleaded guilty through a PLEA BARGAIN to refund the money back and some have acttually returned Money (I would love they and every other looter rot in jail, so you know).
Buhari was an ex-President and where money used to buy his entitled, official vehicle comes from, is a decision of the current Govt in power at that point (Jonathan and his army of thieves). You cant hang that one on Buhari's neck as corruption, that he was given a vehicle he was entitled to.
The real criminal that used and appropriated money meant for procurring Arms to do such is Dasuki and he is stil in detention till date.
The money to buy a vehicle for any ex-President (including Buahri, OBJ, IBB, e.t.c) will certainly come from the coffers of the Govt and where exactly it comes from, is the decision of the sitting president and his cabinet (Jonathan and Dasuki! ).
It does not make the Ex-Presidents corrupt.

But let me digress a bit as l am not trying to exonerate Buhari orhis Govt here.
I nearly laughed my arse out on that lame point, Buhari a private citizen will determine for the government in power where his entitlements will come from, that is what happens when an illiterate is given freedom of speech and nairaland provides the platform to showcase his illiteracy, Government should start a programme that allows police to shoot some dumb people in our society.

Now, concerning Buratai, l dont think his issue has been completely forgotten but right now, he is in the service of the nation in a very important and sensitive position (tackling Boko haram) and we can always revisit his case later, when things are a bit okay on the security scene.
We can keep changing leadership of the military, based on owning a House in Dubai (I know most military echelons are rogues, that one is not news), when we are in the middle of a war.
A sensible leader knows when to weild the big stick.
You actually goofed on this one, no job is more important than the image of a government especially when it bothers around corruption, corruption in the army was the reason we lost a lot of good men to BHT in 2014, so once you excuse corrupt army leadership, you have already murdered the fight against terror.

My take on the Buratai's case is this; Buratai bought a flat in Dubai, costing between 150m naira to 200m naira, Buratai's basic salary as a Lt Gen is between 40m to 50m naira annually aside other emoluments, notable of which are foreign mission allowances, currently Nigeria is active in several foreign missions, by earnings alone, every sane person can see clearly that Burantai can afford a 150m naira house comfortably, the problem we have in this part of the world is that our ignorance is too high that god at some point must have contemplated transforming some Nigerians to insects for their inability to maximize the use of their brains.
A Brig. Gen takes home between 20m to 30m annually, if Burantai moved from that rank to where he is today in the last 6yrs, he can comfortably afford that house without breaking sweat, lastly are you aware he declared that house in his asset declaration form at the CCT on resumption as the COAS? That's the part the dead brains never tells you, do you declare a stolen item at the security?

On Ikoyi warehouse Forex: I think the panel that investigated that allegation has recommended the dismissal of the DG of the NIA.
What l think the President shoudl do is to make the Report available for nigerians to read and to implement it to the letter. To do otherwise will protray him as encouraging and covering-up corruption. You are right on the ball concerning that.
DG of NIA was suspended same time with grass-cutter by the same panel headed by the VP on this subject, check your facts!!

Finally, l think that Buhari is very guilty in the areas of NEPOTISM, for example his sealed lips and paying lip-service to this issue of Fulani herdsmen.
what is he supposed to do? beg you you to turn on your tv so you will be informed that operation Sharan Daji is ongoing tackling them? Or he should shout "daris god ooo" on camera like the hippopotamus we inherited from the previous administration?

So, when you write, please dont mix-up the issues or allow your prejudice to becloud any truth in whatever you write.
Shoot straight and keep it real. It is when you keep it real that you rmessage will resonate with everyone

Buahri may not be guilty of corruption but his Nepotism is alarmingly glaring[/b].

a corruption fighting govt should have noticed such loophole and blocked it, instead they are participating and enjoying it and be saying kachikwu enjoyed it too

as far am concerned, what exists in NNPC is a corruption avenue : GMD - tenders board - petroleum minister = contracts approved without a board meeting

Letslive:
Jonathan was a learner, buhari is even more corrupt than Abacha.
CHRONICLE OF INTEGRITY Muhammadu Buhari started his anti corruption crusade with $2.1bn Dasukigate, Sambo Dasuki was arrested, Raymond Dokpesi, Fani Kayode, Musuliu Obanikoro, Olisa Metuh, and Reuben Abati were also arrested in connection with Dasukigate. While the government was busy wanking and masturbating with the gale of arrests and media frenzy that trailed the episodic drama, Dasuki opened up that Buhari also benefited from the $2.1bn arms fund, Dasuki reveled that he bought 2 bulletproof SUVs for Buhari from the money, he also gave him $300,000 from the same money. But Buhari denied collecting any money from Dasuki, he said he only got 2 bulletproof SUVs form him as his entitlement being a former head of state. Muhammadu Buhari forgot that former heads of state entitlements have never come from the office of the NSA before but office of the SGF, they said those accusing Buhari are the corrupt people fighting back. And that was how Dasukigate died a natural death. The allegation of MTN N500m bribery scandal involving Buhari's Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari popped up. Tukur Buratai's multi million dollars Dubai mansions were uncovered. Abdurrahman Dambazau arms procurement fraud was reveled. Rotimi Amaechi's several attempts to bribe Supreme Court justices to give APC favorable election judgment were exposed. Kayode Fayemi's corruption allegation also came up, but Buhari shamelessly told the whole world that all the corruption allegation leveled against people in his government are false because he checked them before appointing them. Then the Senate exposed how the then SGF, Lawal Babachir used N270m to cut grass in IDP camps, Buhari's government cleared him of any wrong doing, the government also cleared Ibrahim Magu of the weighty corruption allegations leveled against him, in fact, Muhammadu Buhari officially wrote the Senate that both men are clean. Then when Ikoyi orphaned money once again exposed how corrupt this government is, he suspended Babachir that he cleared twice of the same allegation. Up till this moment the report of the probe panel is not known to the public. A witness told the court that Buhari's lawyer who was representing him in the certificate suit gave the presiding judge, Justice Adeniyi Ademola N500,000 at the period the case was still on but they said it wasn't a bribe but a gift. Just recently one of Buhari's ministers, Ibe Kachikwu tactically exposed the biggest single corruption case in the history of this country, a whooping $25bn fraud in a government of saints? If Buhari that is the petroleum minister can approve contracts worth $25bn without due process and transparency, then why are we still talking about anti graft war under this government? There is a whole lot of looting massively going on in this government but the only corrupt people they know are Jonathan's men

It is understandable why the Fg wants to impress Nigerians being a new party in the polity, conversely, in Anambra state, APGA is ours, Obiano doesn't need to impress anybody, we need to set a long term target and follow it judiciously for sustainability, make no mistakes, Anambra is an active player in the money market, those investments were made by Obi, but we have seen that Obiano is judiciously maintaining those portfolios, you think nothing stops him from terminating the $25m Euro bond investment with Access bank? he could still do that and squander the money like other governors, if you put infrastructure pressure on obiano, he will build them to impress then leave you with huge debt burden, he is a seasoned banker and so far he has created a financial equilibrium in the state by making very smart choices.
Give that dude a chance!!

Im sure despite the backlash you received as per the bolded, you are yet to figure out the correct tense to make corrections.
It saddens me deeply to know that I have equal voting right with a dumb illiterate as yourself, democracy is truly a curse in Africa.

Mr man no one actually cares if their lgc chairperson is a fish right now, they are close to non-functional and the govs could easily do away with them and no one would miss them which is not supposed to be.

Lg autonomy as proposed by the senate may only reflect taking the hands of govs off lg electoral processes and splitting the joint state-lg accounts, though an important step, but may not necessarily translate to the much needed devolution of powers which i referred to as restructuring the govt...restructuring means diff things to diff people...

I may be intune with those clamouring for resource control and true federalism, truely it may be for selfish purposes to be fair to some, but on the brighter side I do believe it would spur those supposedly left stranded to consider better alternatives of which human capt devt is a key factor in the long run, just like in other places not so blessed with "natural resources" but still manage to make a good economy just as in india and china, I categorically left out the talk of resource control for obvious reasons. My main point has been building a taxation driven economy coupled with human capt devt, not "resource control". As for selfish people you talk of it shouldnt be the focus, the current system hasnt stopped looting if you should be honeat and I actually believe corruption would be relatively lesser if we do the right things including taking taxation seriously, every style has its advantages and disadvantages unfortunately. For now...we just postpone the evil day.
Since you have agreed on LG autonomy no need stressing it further.
I have warned you severally re-echoing the usual thrash politicians continuously sell to ignorant people wont help your arguement, what is resource control? What is true federalism?

These are jargons used by politicians to steal you blind, there is nothing in it for you, stop selling it, define your interest and stick to it, True federalism as a phrase has neither dictionary nor Encyclopedia meaning.
Unless ofcourse you think you are talking to an illiterate.

There is nothing like resource control, what I am aware of is resources investment, go and make your investments and control your investment.
Where your governors are too lazy to do that, they should continue feeding from Abuja, currently, Abuja is broke, very soon, your lazy governors will become babalawos.

Bros do you know what you are talking about?
NNPC is a state owned company, by Nigeria, for Nigerians, we have the right to question everything it does. this is the kind of excuse that make our politicians to be thieving us blind, make una help me see oooo. In a civilized and advanced society the NNPC boss and the minister should have both resigned.
You are asking questions you understand or questions you dont even understand, go study for your jamb.

Who are the companies that benefitted from the contracts and who are their shareholders?
Which contracts are you talking about?

Was it competitive bidding process since the Board of NNPC was bypassed?
You want to bid for loans or what, are you ok? for the DSDP, what do you think is the job of the tenders committee in the NNPC board?

Why where the management appointment done with due recourse to the board?
That is NNPC's internal shenanigans, it is of no concern to the taxpayers, what we want is a productive NNPC, however the management choose to achieve that is not our business. Kachikwu seeking for input and Baru not granting it is of no concern to the Nigerian people.

Why does the NNPC board exist in the first place, since Buhari chooses to act like they don't exist?
The moment the president takes the petroleum ministry, the board cease to exist in practical terms, the GMD of NNPC reports to the petroleum minister not the board chairman. So Baru legally does not report to kachikwu, if Kachikwu doesn't like the idea, he should ask buhari to make him the substantive minister for petroleum, or pally Baru to work together or throw in the towel. those are his options for now!

More than half of all the Hausa/Fulanis in the Nigerian Army & other Civil Service were actually promoted & favoured above their counterparts based on the “quota-system”.

If you apply to the NDA and you do not have an Hausa/Fulani names, even if you excel in the exams, your chances of being enlisted is “zero”. I know this because I've lived in the north for more than 10 years.

This is Y Nigeria is fvcked.
So what are you still doing in Nigeria knowing it is fvcked? can't you see that you are the one with serious mental issues here, you know nigeria is fvcked yet you sat here like a pregnant demon disturbing our ears, if Nigeria is fvcked by your standard, by all means fvck the hell out of Nigeria, are you cursed?

factsandfigures:
The problem with Nigeria is not APC ,PDP or the politicians. The problem with Nigeria is the ordinary Nigerians who foolishly take sides with these politicians because of ethnic and religion affiliations. Even when it is so glaring that the APC Government is looting the country dry, some shameless and unemployed youths who can hardly feed themselves will still come to these forum to support them. If all Nigerians irrespective of religion and tribe are united in protesting against these corrupted politicians they will not have the gut to play on our intelligence. I am totally disappointed in PMB. There is no need for him to pretend to be a saint. The facts are obvious......If most of your associates are corrupt then you are corrupt period!
