Amotolongbo:
Yes, it happens to the masses not reported, not like this kind of attack on Buratai.
Yes, this kind of attack on Buratai. If no journalist was there and he instructed his people that he doesn't want anyone blabbing to the press or anyone about it. The best you'd get in such a scenario is someone casually mentioning it on a TV show that so and so attack happened, but no proper media report. Or a citizen mentioning it on Twitter.
Politics › Re: I Didn't Say Ex-COAS Buratai's Convoy Was Attacked - Ali Ndume by JuanDeDios: 4:06pm On Jun 09, 2025
wellmax:
Either he is lying or the journalists are lying with this fake news.
ChiefOloye:
Then who is lying and to what gains? Excerpts from the initial reports from Ndume clearly read as follows:
According to Ndume, the retired army general and his accompanying soldiers were ambushed near a frontline military base.

While details on casualties remain unclear, the lawmaker disclosed that a fierce exchange of gunfire ensued between the attackers and the troops escorting Buratai.

“We are in a dire security situation. Just two days ago, Buratai was attacked at the front operations base in Borno.

“His team responded gallantly, but the insurgents managed to destroy several military assets,” he said."
Nobody is lying. Clearly the journalist that did the summary of the interview got it wrong. It's easy to see how and why that happened.

I knew there was no way the former CoAS and Ambassador would be attacked on Friday, nearly costing his life and it wouldn’t be in the news until Sunday evening when Ndume was interviewed.
Trust me, worse things go unreported in this country.

How did he end fuel subsidy and at what cost ?

I mean the Tinubu govt paid subsidy till 2024 November and might even be paying quietly as we speak
At a devastatingly huge cost to the people. That's what they wish to deny.

Yes, they paid some subsidies at some point after removing it, but I don't believe they're paying any today - no evidence supports that.

Politics › Re: "The Monies That My Husband Kept For Nigeria Vanished - Maryam Sani Abacha by JuanDeDios: 3:57pm On Jun 09, 2025
ExAngel007:
During the program, the host asked her about the repatriation of funds stashed abroad by her late husband's administration
"And who is the witness of the monies that were being stashed?" Maryam Abacha retorted. "Did you see the signature or evidence of any money stashed abroad?"
She continued: "And the monies that my husband kept for Nigeria, in a few months, the monies vanished. People are not talking about that.
"Why are you blaming somebody for some.... Is that tribalism or religious programming, or what is the problem with Nigerians?
"I pray for Nigerians, I pray for all of us, I pray that we should have goodness in our hearts, we should stop telling lies and blaming people.
"Why are we so bad towards each other because somebody is a southerner, or somebody is a Muslim or Christian, somebody is nice... it's not fair."
She went on to tell the press that it is their job to "educate" the public and not to "bastardise" people.
She added: "People are not that bad. When things are happening we're not talking about it.
27 years ago and people are still asking about Abacha.
Abacha must be very powerful, Abacha must be very loved by all of you, by all of Nigerians, by all of us. We thank God for that.
You're even talking about him. Alhamdulilah."
Hilarious interview.

Reacting, the Embassy of the Russian Federation firmly denied any outstanding debts.
I've never seen anything Russia did not DENY. They will DENY having any troops in Syria, any plans to attack Ukraine, murdering Ukrainian kids on their sleeping beds, and owing Mr Wike. It's a default response mode. Anyway, the amount is small. I'm sure WriterNig can pay this one from his breast pocket.

Seriously, though, it's grossly incompetent of the FCTA to be embarrassing embassies without prior notification.

How did Europeans clip the wings of their absolute monarchs to make them effectively subordinate to the people who have sovereignty, since a leader cannot exist without followers?

In places like France, the monarchs were not even lucky to be alive to continue their reign even if they are largely ceremonial.

The enlightenment of the people is a journey of continuous efforts that yields the results expected by the proponents.
You should read posts in context.

Has governance always been a joke around here because of how we are insufficiently invested and involved in the different aspects of governance and politics?

Have you always voted in all local, state and federal elections for legislative and executive branch positions? Do you campaign for the candidates, and know what their governance positions are, including on basic education policies?

What of everyone in your sphere of influence and reference? How are they doing on these matters? Are they doing better than you? Or they are doing worse than you?
Good points. I've made this argument to people myself.

But let's not have the illusion of control. When I went to primary school in the 1980's, Nigeria was ruled my the military. They controlled what I read. No amount of political consciousness or activism from me - or even my parents - could have changed a thing.

I was quite shocked when it dawned me, in adulthood what Gandoki's story was really about. I mean, what king of people approved a story glorifying forced marriage, slavery and jihad for children?? I mean, it is seriously messed up
Totally messed up. If you read the stories in context (Gandoki was opposed by a man named Habama, a prominent Tiv name), you will have some insight into what is really going on in the Middle Belt. In the Gandoki stories, if my memory is correct, only Habama's second son escaped Gandoki's sword.

I love me this picture of this dude from the Kuku Dynasty. The horseback pic reminds me of that jihadist, Gandoki
I am Gandoki
The father of Garba
Gandoki the war chief of Muslims
I live a charmed life

I really liked that Gandoki man at the time, looked forward to reading the units with his stories. Years later, when I realised what pernicious evil I was reading, I still can't stop wondering how the Ministry of Education approved those texts for kids. Governance has always been a joke around here.

Governing anywhere in Nigeria – be it federal, state or LG – is simple. Do anything (borrow, steal, kill, burn people's houses) to get into office. Then borrow 50 billion (or any billions you like). Use 10 billion out of it to fix an important road and a couple of schools, and people will start singing your praises. Pocket the 40 billion for yourself and use some of it to settle your foot soldiers. Go home. Nobody will ask any questions.

The first question I will ask is: are you ashamed of carrying physical paper Bible to Church? If you have electronic bible on your device, do you use it to Church because you are ashamed in carrying physical paper Bible or you just use it because of easy and convenience? Lastly, do you go to church totally without any form of Bible?

If you feel carrying physical paper Bible will affect your swagger then you are ashamed of Jesus Christ.

Please tell Jesus to forgive you for being ashamed of Him and for all sins you have committed, and let Him come into your life today in Jesus name. Amen.

Happy Sunday to you. Visit a bible-believing church today.
Last time I went to church, I carried a physical Bible - to remind myself of how it used to be. But I don't think it matters. God sees the heart.

Stop deceiving yourself. D

Russia is still winning the war and gaining territories. Ukraine can't win this war, not now or ever. No matter how many years it takes.

Russia is grinding Ukraine slowly and steady. Russia is not even using their main Arsenal. That ones are reserved for US/NATO.

Russia will not use full force on Ukraine because they see Ukraine as brothers. Thats why Putin is very lenient on Ukraine. He has not use the full power of Russia military might on Ukraine.
This line again. I won't be surprised if someone actually believes it.

Dogalmighty17:
That Russia is truly a weak state is not in doubt. For crying out loud, Russia now depends on Iran, north Korea and China for missiles, drones and ammunition. Russia is using tanks from World War 2 in Ukraine. It relies on donkeys and motorcycles to carry supplies to the front. Russia loses over 900 soldiers each day this war goes on.

Nothing typifies weakness like having an entire arm of your nuclear triad blown up right in your own country. Nothing shows weakness like having the flagship of your navy, the Moscova, blown up and destroyed by a country without a navy. Russia's entire black sea fleet cannot leave the ports where they are hiding because Ukraine will make mincemeat of them.

Yes, Russia plans to win by mere attrition. Pouring men into the meat grinder. A tactic they've used since world war 1. In WW2, during the battle of Stalingrad, Russia sent countless waves of men against the Germans, most of them unarmed. The Germans fired their machine guns in a mad killing spree until their guns started overheating and melting. That's how Russia was able to defeat Germany but after losing 24 million men.

Ukraine can't afford to keep losing men and as such will be smart and strategic in their operation. This is going to 5 years now. Ukraine is still standing. All Russia has achieved is that it has shown the West and China that Russia is less than a paper tiger.

Russia is a nuclear power while Ukraine is not hence the pounding of Ukraine cities while Ukraine target military formation and infrastructure of Russia to prove a point. Stop gloryfying a psychotic murderous Putin whose obsession with bringing back the old Soviet Union will never come true.
