DeepSight: The removal of the subsidy was a bad decision but the simultaneous floating of the naira was worse.
What should have been addressed was the corruption in the subsidy regime.. I think this view is based on the error that the exchange rate crisis was caused by the "floating". It was not. The naira was propped up by stilts under the Buhari-Emefiele administration. |

Penguin2: EXCHANGE RATE UNIFICATION: With what was obtainable in the previous exchange rate, you had Alhajis that were making billions on daily basis by getting dollar from CBN at official rate and selling to the populace at the so called “black market” rate. The unification eliminated this and took the economy of Nigeria to the right foundation where it belongs and not on bubbles that was sustained by constant pumping of dollars just to maintain a lie.
Right now, Nigeria is no longer living on bubbles and lies. Where you see us today is where we truly belong. Finally, someone that gets it. I don't agree on subsidy removal though. It was the theft that made it balloon. They should have tackled that. Or wait a bit for local refining to come on stream. Or take measures to protect the most vulnerable. And much of the gains made from it have been seriously undermined by inflation. |

Basicend: Apparently, if the drones flew in from Ukraine, they would have been tracked down.
They had to launch them from within Russia.
Yes, I also believe Trump and American intelligence with NATO had a clue. He had been harping it for a while how he has been preventing Putin from serious attacks.
Russia will retaliate very strongly. He was obviously talking about sanctions not military offensives. This sort of operation, not more than 3-5 people knew - or it would have leaked. |

Kemistri3: Russian military and intelligence agencies are ass. They're only good in poisoning Putin's political opponents
Ukraine smuggled in drones, assembled and deployed them right on russian soil
In fact, the control center for this attacks were based right opposite an FSB office(russian equivalent of FBI and DSS)
Putin is responsible for the destruction of Russia The problem is hiring only yes-men because you don't want dissent. That's why Putin is surrounded by incompetent fools. They're the ones who lied to him an invasion would be welcome by Ukrainians and that the war could be over in days. That's why he's in this mess. |

The both EU and US etc funding the war can not accept such civilian casualties that has befall innocent citizens of Ukraine 🇺🇦 no amount of money or resources can bring them back Russia is the aggressor. Stop spouting Russian propaganda. When did Ukraine join Nato? Or was in the process of joining? So if Russia sponsors a part of Ukraine to take up arms, Ukraine shouldn't have responded? |

bigpicture001: Has anyone ever wondered why Ukraine target Russia nuclear bombers..? Not tiger jet, not just missile propelling jets but nuclear bombers..
It is connected to the lifting of ban on restrictions of long range weapons.... Drones, not missiles, were actually used in this attack. They've planned and executed it for over a year. Its only modern equivalence is that operation Israel pulled off with pagers against Hezbollah last year. |

Mrluv: Putin would regret not taking that Wagner boss advice in his word stop call this war special operations call it what it is It is a war bring out the weapon would need to win this war instead he killed the guy Abi what is the meaning of special operations when your soldier are dieing in thousands and now Ukraine is destroying weapons they need to win the war Putin should better bring out the weapon they need to win the war the Ukraine he is fighting now is arm to the teeth it is not same Ukraine when the war started Putin better act fast now time is against him He has brought out all his weapons. He's even had to rely on old decommissioned Soviet weapons from the 1950's. Why do think he's sourcing weapons from North Korea and Iran? Stop falling for propaganda. The only weapons he's not brought out are nuclear bombs - and I know you're not d-u-m-b enough to advise him to use those. The reason he has not used those is, he knows the consequences. |

YourGFsnatcher: Ukraine is fighting an unjust war. You can't have your enemy at your backyard after an agreement has been made. What caused the Cuban missile crisis? Is it not the same reason that Cuba and Russia where canoodling at America's backyard? Ukraine is closer to Russia than the west in all forms and culture, they even have families across the country and the west want to break them by force. Will you allow your enemy to befriend your wife because she has the right to be friends with whoever she choses Your logic and sense of rightness though. I mean, how can someone that was attacked and is defending himself be fighting an unjust war? You say it's Nato, do you have evidence that Ukraine was in the process of joining Nato when it was attacked in 2014, and then in 2022? Russia had missiles in Cuba and I don't recall any Cuban military base (not to talk of schools, hospitals and supermarkets) bombed by the US. Does the USA or Nato have missiles in Ukraine that justifies Russian bombing of Ukrainian day care centres and hospitals? |

ogascomax: It's children that think that it was when Russia invaded Ukraine the war began. They don't know the history of the war. They don't know that Ukraine was a buffer zone, the don't know that Ukraine has been shelling Donbas region. They don't know that Ukraine sovereignty does not give them the right to join NATO but when you don't understand international relationship or war strategy will be arguing blindly. NATO at the back of Russia calling that sovereignty is a stupid talk and even NATO countries know that. Forget what they lie to you at the open. Deep inside them they know it's not possible for Ukraine to join. Donbass is in Ukraine, not Russia. It's Ukraine's sovereign territory. Putin had no right to sponsor insurgents against Ukraine there. Nato countries already border Russia, so one wonders what you're talking about. Ukraine's sovereignty does not give them the right to do anything? Dey play. Anyway, you people are yet to show evidence Ukraine was in the process of joining Nato when it was attacked in 2022. Or in 2014. |

Celestialsword: Importation of kills an economy as it kills indigenous and infant industries
Any goods imported into the country,it creates employment opportunities for the citizens of these countries and also lead to capital flight, especially finished goods.
Western countries imports mostly cheap raw materials from Africa and turn them into finished products before exporting it back to sell at a higher price.
This give them trade surplus as those finished products are in high demand in Africa where they imports the cheap raw materials from.
The host countries are always on trade deficit because they are highly dependant on foreign goods.
Their only export are mostly cheap raw materials. mrvitalis: Which economics theory are you quoting or this is your opinion
Can you name a country that practice your idea that have grown Celestialsword: China imports silicon from Nigeria and use it to manufacture batteries which they export back to Africa.
Japan imports raw rubber from Nigeria and turn them to automobile parts including tyres and export them back to Africa. industries in Europe, imports cocoa from Africa and turn them to beverages which they export back to Africa.
These countries are doing well economically as they declare trade surplus year in year out.
African countries rely sole on imports for their essential needs, this leads to capital flight because they are indirectly creating job opportunities for these countries while killing the indigenous and cottage industries mrvitalis: So are we not saying the same thing? Nigeria makes its difficult to import raw materials
Allow import of steel a raw materials so that metal works industry can spring up
Allow import of fabric so that garment Industry can spring up
Allow corn and maize import so our poultry can be competitive
Is that u guys read and refuse to understand? Celestialsword: No, you don't import that which you have in abundant or else the Market will be bloated..
You import what you lack to balance what you have back home mrvitalis: What did I mention that we have in abundant tell me Celestialsword: What you mentioned are raw materials and since Nigeria is not an industrialized nation, she will not be able to turn them into finished products.
Hence we import finished goods and exports raw materials, hence the economy isn't growing mrvitalis: Bro what exactly is your issue... Go back and read my post slowly... Don't have this time for rubbish It's Animal Farm: Four Legs = Good; Two Legs = Bad Export = Good; Import = Bad |

We need economic policy change as a nation It's called open market. The West understood and embraced it, that's why they're richer than everyone else. China started to get rich when they embraced it. India is much poorer than China because it has never really embraced it. But it's really hard to explain to our people. Brilliant post. Thank you.
