The closure, aside from affecting those selling drugs, also affected those selling other goods. NAFDAC has to look into it, ensuring that innocent people are not affected by the shut down of the entire area.

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Did God Slay Onan After He Spilled His Seed On The Floor? by JuanDeDios: 10:12am On Feb 16, 2025 |
AbuTwins: A rule would have been broken had they gotten married. Judah did tell Tamar to go and wait for Shelah (Onan's brother) in her father's house. He was actually afraid Shelah too would die. So Tamar, accordingly was betrothed to Shelah already according to custom.
And none of them (Judah and Tamar) is any better. They are both fornicators/adulterers. The father is worse as an hypocrite. You didn't say Tamar was MARRIED to Shelah. A betrothed person can simply break the betrothal by going off with someone else. Yes, the "fornication" argument can be made since they had sex without being husband and wife. But every society has always been fluid on and tolerated that practice. It's adultery that is not tolerated. Anyway, my initial argument was that no adultery or incest was committed. You're just splashing the matter everywhere now. Have a great day. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Did God Slay Onan After He Spilled His Seed On The Floor? by JuanDeDios: 9:52am On Feb 16, 2025 |
AbuTwins: This your opinion is not entirely true. Judah won't have slept with Tamar as an harlot if he had seen her face prior to the act.
The reason Tamar covered her face and lay in wait for him. From the story in Genesis 38, particularly the ending verses, Judah did not sleep with Tamar again after that.
Why was that emphasized? Didn't you say they can get married? No, I didn't say Judah and Tamar could've got married. Not that it would have broken any known rule or been "wrong". Yes, if he knew it was her, would not have slept with her. Because it won't have been cool. Not that it would have been wrong. It's not everything that is not bad that is good. Did you notice his response when he found out it was he that got her pregnant? It was not "Oh, what have I done?" or "I have done abomination." It was "You're an even better person than I am," merely acknowledging that she had suffered injustice and had taken matters into her hands to correct it. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Did God Slay Onan After He Spilled His Seed On The Floor? by JuanDeDios: 8:51am On Feb 16, 2025 |
Discountsempai: It had nothing to do with Onan spilling his seed, and the verse in question had nothing to do with masturbation (and no, I am not excusing masturbation...especially as I have never engaged in it, because quite frankly it does not make sense).
Onan was supposed to marry his late brother's wife, and under the customs of that time, the first child he had with his wife would be counted as his brother's child (strange to us, but in a society with high child mortality, and a concern over keeping lineages alive...).
Onan refused to do that because (as the verses imply)...he hated his brother Er. So, out of bitterness, he denied Er THE RIGHT TO KEEP his lineage alive.
Essentially, what Onan also was doing was
1. Denying Tamar the right to have a child...in a society where barreness was a BIG STIGMA. (See how Jacob, Onan's grandpa, wife Rachel felt about having no kids...and later on Hannah. And even Sarah, Onan's great-great grandmother).
2. Essentially telling his father that he wanted both his and Er's inheritance...ie greed. If he had done what he was supposed to do, then when Judah died, his (Onan's) firstborn son would have gotten Er's portion of the inheritance. By having no kids, he gets a dobule portion.
3. Essentially commiting an injustice to his late brother and dishonoring his memory.
Thus..as the bible put it in Genesis 38 vs 8-10
8 Then Judah said to Onan, “Sleep with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to raise up offspring for your brother.” 9 But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother. 10 What he did was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death also
So, nothing to do with seed or with masturbation as the OP thinks it does.
At its base it is a story about how harmful greed and resentment can be. And how wickedness also can provoke resentment (Er is described as a wicked man, so it is obvious that he was wicked to his two younger brothers, breeding anger and resentment).

Christianity Etc › Re: Why Did God Slay Onan After He Spilled His Seed On The Floor? by JuanDeDios: 8:49am On Feb 16, 2025 |
AbuTwins: Abeg which kind custom is that for a brother to sleep with his brother's widow to produce offspring for him even if he doesn't want to?
Na by force?
And it's not only Onan! The father later slept with the same woman pretending as an harlot and she got pregnant. He wanted to punish her untill he realised he was the culprit.
God punished the sinful first son with death! God punished the second with death! The father committed adultery and incest but was forgiven!
How is such fair? AbuTwins: Was Er as wicked as Pharaoh or any other wicked person in the Bible that God didn't kill?
Even Er's father that impregnated his daughter in law committing incest plus adultery and accusing the same daughter in law of sin is not deemed wicked to be killed! Because Judah did NOT commit incest or adultery. Neither Judah nor Tamar was married at the time, so no adultery was committed. Judah and Tamar were not related by blood, so no incest was committed. Note that inheriting a dead relative's wife to raise kids for him or for yourself is a common traditional practice around the world. |

emkz: Very well.
All those lawmakers who demanded bribes should be aware of one thing:
If the lid is not blown, you may get away with it. But once the lid is blown open, you are scarred for life. Recall a shining star in Kano who ruined his political career by collecting bribes to cover up a subsidy probe? Remember the senators who collected bribes from a former minister of education to pad his budget?
Always remember that ill-gotten money will finish. You either spend it completely, or you die and leave it behind. But a scarred name is eternal. Whenever your name is mentioned, it would be associated with graft.
As for this Binance guy, I have only one question for him: why didn't he expose these while he was in custody? Has he been healed of his leg pain then?
All of them are corrupt.
As for those asking how he could have exposed them: he had access to his lawyers, visitors and his Binance colleagues. It is not too hard to understand. You're talking of Farouk Lawan and Adolphus "I-joined-politics-to-make-money" Wabara, Jonathan Zwingina and Ibrahim Mantu. Well, the PDP has been rehabilitating Wabara lately. Won't be surprised if they bring out Lawan soon. Won't they need another BOT chairman soon? As for exposing them while here, forget it. You only risk that when you think you're being held by decent people who follow law, not when you have a feeling of being held by the Mafia. |
