AlphaTaikun: That N100 was a lot of money back in 1979. I remember buying grilled meat (suya) for N20 back in 1982 and 2 of us could NOT even finish the large quantity.
However, she and her spouse purchased a house in Satellite Town in Lagos State for N100 down payment through LOTS or BALLOTS. That Satellite Town area originally belonged to the indigenes of that area before being leased from them and compensations paid accordingly.
As of the late 1960s my grandfather purchased a large plot of land (on lease) in Lagos for £20 and I saw the receipt back in the 1990s.
MadamExcellency: One Naira was two pounds as of 1979. I remember our goods were quoted in pounds and naira back then. But life wasn't as glamorous as it's today. People don't go to the market to buy a bag of rice to keep. You buy the one to cook at a time, there was no mad rush in life.
People were content with what they had. Integrity and honesty were currencies then. Politics was for the people's choice, and accountability was a minimum requirement for officeholders.
Naa. Two naira was 1 pound. Never the other way round.
jesusjnr2020: What I Did After Seeing 10+ Opened Porn Sites On Browser Of Phone I Was Gifted
I recently shared the testimony of how I was gifted 2 smartphones after resisting the temptation of misplaced smartphone I saw while shopping in Bokku Mart, despite being in serious need of one myself after mine had crashed.
Commendable. Still need to work on yourself though. Getting tempted when I see what's not mine is something that just never happens. Never.
ceejay80s: I will send message to USA, if it involves money to help, they should cancel it, we are thieves in this country, some will corner the money flash, USA should not send any penny for aid deal to Nigeria
I think there are ways around that problem.
Anyway, it's a good time to be a Christian in Nigeria. I'm heading to church as we speak.
bunmioguns: When the President visits Borno: 5,000 soldiers, 10 surveillance squads, and EOD units everywhere. The state becomes the safest place on Earth for 24 hours. 🛡️ Why can’t they use this same 'robust security architecture' to protect the farmers in the villages? Or is it only the President’s nose that deserves protection? Once he boards that jet back to Lagos for his Christmas holiday, the security will evaporate faster than the value of the Naira. Audio protection for the poor, maximum security for the King.
Because we don't have the money. But I get your point - Nigerians should be protected too.
Otutubuike: The 2025 Healthy Living Cooking Competition organized by the Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo witnessed a shocker on Friday, as a male student, Ikechukwu Ifechukwu emerged winner of the annual event. At the ceremony held at the Light House, Awka, Ifechukwu, from St Charles College, Onitsha, and his partner, who represented Onitsha zone, won the competition by defeating female contestants from schools in Aguata and Nnewi zones, who emerged 2nd and 3rd respectively. The participants were tasked to choose their recipe and several delicacies, from start to finish within a time-lag of one hour, twenty minutes. They were assessed based on proper hygiene, food taste, dishing and service manner. Speaking during the event, the Anambra First Lady, Dr Soludo explained that the competition came about to correct an observed anomaly where young people are unable to prepare healthy meals. According to her, this challenge was the reason many of the young people resort to junks, which cause a lot of health problems for them. Identifying nutrition as a critical aspect of the healthy living campaign she is championing in the state, Dr Soludo emphasized that the cooking competition was to teach the children how to prepare healthy foods. “Teaching the young people to eat healthy food early in their formative stages is key to protecting their health and preserving the dying culture of the people,” she said. Expressing delight at the outcome of the competition, Dr stressed the need for parents not to seclude any home chore for a particular sex, urging them to provide their children the same of training and opportunity to ensure that they develop at equal pace. This she noted, will also help them live independent lives without total dependence on others. Earlier, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike said the competition was envisioned to teach the values of healthy eating, discipline, teamwork, and creativity, through hands-on cooking and nutrition education. Obidike acknowledged that the competition also promotes indigenous foods, inspires career interests in nutrition and hospitality, and encourages young minds to embrace wellness as a lifestyle. Speaking after receiving the winner’s prize, Master Ifechukwu expressed appreciation to the wife of the state governor for the opportunity created for the young people to learn and showcase their cooking skills. He recalled, with fondness, his mother’s charge while teaching him the rudiments of cooking, which he said he paid keen attention to, noting that when he learned cooking, he never expected that the skill will land him good fortunes. “For me, it is another reason to thank the governor’s wife, and my mother for her diligence in teaching me how to prepare healthy meals. “I believe all these exposures are geared towards healthy living and I am so impressed and happy that I won today,” he said. Also, at the Banquet Hall of the Light House, students from the six education zones in the state contested in the Healthy Living Quiz. In the final results, Nnewi zone came 1st, followed by Otuocha and Aguata in second and third places. The wife of the governor also presented cash gifts to the winners as well as the coordinators and champions of the Healthy Living Club in the schools in the state.
The kitchen, everywhere, has always been a testosterone-run place where men win.
FreeSpirited: The older I grow the more I feel sorry for men who take pride in acquiring excess wealth, without focusing on their soul and making impact in the community. Acquiring excess wealth no longer makes sense to me as we see men die quicker and their wealth left in the hands of people who will waste it and never value the hardwork that came getting it. . Imagine after your death, that same woman u cherish will start knacking new men, your business partners, church members, and friends in your mansion and matrimonial bed. It's not worth all the stress we put into women matter
VaginaAcademic: This is a scam like I always say only greedy people get scammed
It's not that simple. This is an extreme case. There are cases where Temu and AliExpress advertise a replacement blade for an engine, with pictures and text suggesting it's the complete engine. You may not know what the engine costs - sometimes, the price is not even all that different.
Glimpsetv: A man has cried out online after receiving a toy replica of a Keke Napep (Maruwa) he ordered on Temu for ₦35,000.
The video has attracted massive reactions online, with many people questioning how anyone would expect a Keke—worth between ₦3 million and ₦4 million—to sell for as low as ₦35,000. Others also shared similar experiences, accusing Temu of deliberately misleading online shoppers.
According to several users, the platform allegedly advertises dummy or toy replicas of products at very cheap prices, making them appear like the real items. This tactic often affects unsuspecting buyers, especially those who do not take time to carefully read product descriptions and instead focus solely on the low price attached.
OpinionCounts: I'm surprised to see Japan in that list.
That surprised me too. It's a rich country, but they're very conservative. Must be a cultural shift has taken place there - with young men reportedly not knowing how to approach women and all.
Mercury12: Misturah this thing you do e good? I sure say this girl and her partner in crime Daniel go dey fvck while dem put pressure on the innocent husband to pay ransome money. May we not marry people wey God dey fear
matify83: Didn't know that the Nordic countries were this promiscuous .
Just maybe the cold makes them cuddle together a lot and from there the inevitable happens.
It's a cultural thing. And I won't say they're promiscuous. From childhood you're taught about sex. You're not told it's shameful or to be abstained from. You're told to be RESPONSIBLE about it. So they practice monogamy and safe sex.
Note that whereas in the US movies with violence are approved for kids and those with sex scenes are not, the reverse is the case in Europe. Shows you the different cultural perspectives.

Cooperation through existing framework? So are the captain and his fellow AES renegades about to come back to Ecowas? I hope FG is not appeasing those usurpers and selling out in any way.
drsibz66: Dating, taking pictures, having sex, wearing ssme cloths isnt promise to marriage.. you have to provide a written evidence or video or voice record of where he said "I WILL MARRY YOU" Anything other than that , you assumed.. and assumption doesnt win you cases . Evidence does.
What is wrong with some of you? Lol
Nobody's saying pictures and sex prove anything (as if you're meant to keep evidence of sex). We're talking about anything that can be used from your communication - be it text or picture or whatnot - so deduce that a promise to marry was made. Or witnesses.
But you can make your own law and write it there that when people are getting engaged, they must call a lawyer to write an agreement for them or video the man saying "I will marry you" for any action to succeed.
flexyrule: Do you think Cedacrest's target market are among the hungry Nigerians arguing about frivolous issues like these?
Tonto Dike would pass through all the halls and wards in Cedacrest and no single soul will turn to look at her.
It's not only "hungry Nigerians" who see these things though. You see those older Nigerians? WhatsApp is their Internet. If it gets shared widely on WhatsApp, demographics that aren't "hungry" will see it.
GenderMix: You can't just sue on the basis of verbal promise to visit unless it's documented somewhere or there's evidence like monetary payment to confirm visit.
In the case of promising to marry someone, unless you have it documented or recorded then you can sue otherwise it will be thrown out. The court operate based on facts and evidence not sentiment
Huh? The promise to marry must be in writing? Wrong.
You need evidence, but no written agreement to marry is necessary. Whoever heard of such a document anyway?
If he denies making the promise to marry you, you can rely on WhatsApp messages, Facebook posts, witnesses, etc., that point to the existence of the promise.
saphiere: So a lady promises a guy she was going to visit him. She later didn't go and was sued and made to pay damages.
On the other hand, a guy promises a lady marriage and did not marry her and she cannot sue him. Like seriously?
For those who would say that the former scenario collected money and refused to go visit him, also note that the latter collected sxxx and refused to marry her.
Breach of a promise to marry can give rise to successful legal action. I mean, you fit sue. It doesn't matter whether sex was involved or not. You just need to make sure he had no good reasons to dump you. Because the action will fail in court if he does.
