nairalanda1: Because the man is here making assumptions without any proof or offering any proof.
And when we ask them to give us proof, that's when we hear stories about how 'they won't allow us to bring proof' or 'they won't allow us to do proper investigation'
I don learn my lesson for many consipracy theories. Sometimes the simplest answer is the right answer.
LIke the time people were shouting Garang died in helicopter crash. One thing about helicopters, they are delicate things. Any small dust can foul up the mechanism.
PLus if we assume the man died in explosion, why not then assume that every plane crash in Nigeria was caused by conspiracy? Bolded makes no sense at all. In fact, did you just type that? My grandfather was poisoned. So if I say that, that means I think everyone that died was poisoned? Anyway, this is not idle conspiracy theory made by some armchair conjecturist. This is a general who was in a position to know things saying things. That alone is sufficient to take the matter seriously. And dig further. He said some reports have not been released. I think releasing those would be a way to start. Recall that the person that succeeded Atatahiru as COAS also died. Simple coincidence? Possible. But the coincidences are becoming too many. Let someone investigate. The reason I think most Nigerians will take the general seriously is that the whole Boko Haram and banditry mess and the level of incompetence we've seen from the security services don't make sense. Recall also that General Buratai, the man who was COAS before Atahiru, was previously named in corruption stories by some media houses. |
Politics › Re: Lt. Gen. Attahiru Was Assassinated In May 2021 Plane Explosion - Ali-Keffi by JuanDeDios: 11:52am On Dec 11, 2025 |
nairalanda1: While the army is incompetent and all.......the simple reason is the man died in a plane crash, not explosion on plane.
We beleive in such a theory, the same way people believe that JFK was killed by a conspiracy, instead of the simple explanation that he was killed by one man, because if a whole COAS can die in plane crash, with all the security and service, what does that mean for ordinary people like us.? Best to believe 'they did it'
You can believe that 'they did it because Shekau' (the story about shekau in maiduguri...it is also very possible that Shekau moved out on his own without hearing from anyone in the army self...we tend to think that boko is made up of dull people)...or you can assume it was simply a plane crash.
At the same time you can believe, as I do, that the army is not handling the fight against boko well, because they are not. This fight requires specialists in assymetric warfare, not conventional warfare. Armies have always struggled when the enemy is fighting assymetrically. (It took the british over 15 years to subdue the Edo people after 1897. And the edo people used extensive assymetric warfare. Go and verify). Ok. But why are you dismissing the General's position out of hand? Is it not also possible that he's correct and AHQ was being run by a crook? That Shekau was tipped off? |

Angelfrost: I don't know where you live or were raised sir, but I know what I say... And I speak for most parts of the nation.
Bricklayers, mechanics, carpenters, etc, leave their work clothes in their places of work or operation.
Haven't you seen bricklayers bathing and changing after a whole day of mixing and plastering, at the site of work?!!
What does it take for any person to clean up after work before heading home, especially if you are going to share public transportation with others?!!
So, what exactly are you trying to defend here?!! You don't get it. You can be caught up in a police raid at any time. I once worked at a restaurant opposite an area with several big workshops. The mechanics, panel beaters, welders, etc. always came to our restaurant to eat in their work clothes. If I have to spell it out for you, you can be caught while crossing the road. While buying bread. While... there are lots of scenarios. Of course, I'm sure your uncles change into "clean clothes" when going to eat across the road or going over to the next street to check a job. But not everyone has that time. If you're caught up in a police raid for "mad" people and you say you were working, the police should have the common sense to listen to you. That's not hard. Ok. Good bye. |

Angelfrost: There is something called "work clothes".
My uncles were farmers and mechanics, some even bricklayers... You wouldn't guess except you saw them at work or holding their tools after work.
So, that's not a tenable excuse. But we're not talking about your uncles. We're talking about what commonly obtains in this society. Yeah, I also had an uncle who wore a shirt and tie when going to the farm and changed into farm clothes when he got there. But we also know how most farmers and mechanics around here use to do, right? |

RealLordZeus: nah... After the Benin republic show of force by the Nigerian Airforce.. They are being cautious
I know we have our internal shame we are dealing with, but i find it totally absurd when people compared the Nigerian Military with countries such as Burkina faso, Niger and Mali.
The reason for our prolonged internal fiasco bordered on internal collusion, political and military corruption, tribal and religious afilliation.. Let the Nigerian Airforce decides to drop bomb this evil bandits, the same northerners that are being kidnapped will shout they are bombing villagers praying or doing wedding in the same location where bandits are.. Yes, it's wrong to bomb any locations with civilians, no matter how many bandits you believe are there. We're not in the Stone Age. Fight them by all means, but no human rights violations. If civilians are there, send in ground troops with air support. |
