NB: From verse 25, a reference is made to THE MASTER of the house who is God Almighty for He reserves the sole prerogative to open and shut the gates to His Kingdom.

Verse 26 grants us some details about who THIS MASTER (God Almighty) is; those denied entry would say "we ate and drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets." Obviously this refers to Jesus.
