Broda tunde, it seems you and your friends are trying your hands on a mythical "Canadian Visa Lottery". You just want to try your luck and see if it will work. Canada does not have a Visa Lottery scheme.
Who knows, maybe there is and they will be the pioneer beneficiaries. grin
Let's wait and see the outcome - if they eventually make the app.

In other news, I submitted my paper application at VFS.

First lady I met at the general info table asked me "Would you like premium VIP service?"

I said "Pardon?"
She repeated "PREMIUM V-I-P service".
Told her, "No, I'd rather go join the queue".

Na so! After 42,920 visa fee, you still want collect more? Hian!
Even the 'bank' counter inside the building just gave me my receipt without saying anything about the 80 naira change.
''Ahn ahn, oga where is my 80 naira change?''
"Errm, do you have 20 naira or 50 naira?''

"So why did you keep mum initially nah?" Epa! Must have thought I would leave my change with him.

I entered the hall at 11.36, got called for document submission et al at 13:34- that's 2 good hours of waiting.

Meanwhile, on the wall, there's a whiteboard with "Average waiting time: 15 mins" written on it! Never seen truer words. grin

Next, finished with biometrics at 15:12- that's another 1 hour of waiting.

So, roughly 3 hours of waiting to submit your application; little wonder people opt for online application.

Will see how long it will take the application to be processed.

Why you dey worry your self when the fees to be paid is here: http://www.vfsglobal.ca/canada/nigeria/Service_and_Service_Charge.html

Normally I play around these websites so that I go "see them finish". Nobody fit do shakara for me. Tufia!

In fact na me go teach them work. grin Loooool
Lolzz...na so.

I been don check that link, but 'visa' fees was nowhere on there, just service charge.

The CS even said it was 45k, whereas I saw about 43k when I checked http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/result.asp?countrySelect=NG&lob=trv

Edit:
Just noticed the footnote stating service charge is covered under the biometrics cost. I was adding the 11,400 service charge on top before. cheesy

No lele

This happened after 3 hours of picking a ticket.
Please confirm- Is that "3 hours of picking a ticket", for submission of your application?

I had planned to go submit mine on Friday too, but at the slightest sound of rain, I just carry 'covercloth' instead & stayed home.

Before then, I was chatting with the VFS customer service online to confirm the exact sum of all fees to be paid before going there- the responses were just meh- almost totally unhelpful, coming at almost 7mins apart. Had to ask the CS rep if he/she was busy; to further buttress how 'yeye-ish' the service is, instead of answering my pending query- which just required a short answer, same CS rep took that time to respond "yes, sir" to the busy question. I just logged out.

Abeg, lemme know if it will take 3hrs to submit app, sef.

Hello Oga Bellong,Udz and everyone in the house. Please I have a concern and would like to seek advise from the experts. I am 39 years but will be 40 next February. I have an HND in Electrical Electronics Engineering. I sent a mail to EA if they could assess my HND and came with a positive reply that they can, provided I have ND as a prerequisite. Now, my question are:

1. If I quickly do the assessment, will I be able to get the 25 POINTS for the age before I clock 40 next year? You will get the 25 points if you get the ITA before clocking 40. The points are based on your age on the day you get the invite.
2. EA talks about CDR. Am I under any obligation to to CDR and what is/are the likely consequence of not doing CDR. There is no obligation to prepare a CDR; it is a requirement (I assume your HND is from Nigeria)

Consequences? No CDR, no positive assessment.

I will be glad to hear from my ogas in due course.

Thanks
Car TalkRe: Can You Drive In Lagos Metropolis Without Using Your Vehicle's Horn For A Month? by jukeblam(m): 9:15pm On Sep 06, 2016
I used to think it was impossible but it's quite possible; I drive for weeks without honking.

It takes extra patience/tolerance though; plus person with right of way oo, plus the one wey no get right of way oo...you just give them space to prevent any fender bender- or worse. Like the op said, you just stay a lot more alert, cos these Lagos drivers are maniacs.

Wait o, Oga Jukeblam I don confuse small.

Are u saying we should only pay for the CDR assessment? The one of $750?

When me I don dey try gather for the one with relevant skilled employment assessment $1030 because I'm claiming 5 years work experience

Bosses pls clarify
Yes, that is what I am saying. If you claim points on the visa application for your 5 years experience, DIBP will still be the one to conduct employment verification.

However, please pay for EA fast-track so you don't spend months waiting for your assessment result.

Hi all,

For all the engineers in the house, is it recommended to do the skilled work assessment? my brother recently got a positive assessment as an electrical engineer and is skeptical about paying another fee for the assessment. what is your advice? if the assessment is recommended, what other supporting documents can he include apart from the reference letter, offer letter, promotion letter, confirmation of appointment, bank statement and pension statement. he does not have his payslips.

Your suggestion will be highly appreciated.

cc: humanshado, chuckdee13, jukeblam, ibiyemiara
Skip the skilled employment assessment; the degree assessment is very adequate. Having your work experience asssessed positive by EA doesn't really add much value; DIBP will still perform a verification (if they choose to) when the visa application is made.

Just save that work assessment fee and use some place else.

Do I submit d application like that without d forms 80 and 1221, n den believe a case officer wld contact me and ask for those forms ,? Those two forms are my draw backs now. Kindly enlighten pls
Forms 80 and 1221 fall under 'Character Evidence' section, I believe. Also it's advisable to just upload them right away vs waiting if/when your CO would request for and by this, get a direct grant.

Having read through the pages of this thread from first to current page, i sincerely say a big thanks to Oga Bellong and my other ogas. You guys have done a great job.

My hubby has a B.Eng electrical electronics engineering degree and about 6yrs work experience but we decided to claim points for just 5years because he had about 6months of inactivity before his most recent 5yrs.

He has been practicing as a telecom field engineer in his most recent 4yrs, as a network engineer for the 10 months preceding this and as a Network administrator for 6months in the earliest part of the total 5yrs 4months. My major worry is his earliest 6months was with a non ISP company. It was just a normal IT support role but his job title in his offer letter was Network Administrator.

1. Do you guys think EA will regard his Network Engineer role as relevant to Telecoms field engineer role?
If the job descriptions fit that of a Telecoms field engineer, yes. Look up the anzsco code and tasks to get a better idea. Sometimes job titles vary way way from actual everyday work; and sometimes, functions overlap too in some organisations.

2. Will EA state anything about his work experience if we pay the Standard fee or they will just state that it is positive outcome.

Not a whisper of your work experience will be mentioned; just positive outcome of your degree- which is the assessment you pay for with Standard fee

Jukeblam is d spouse supposed to take the English test too? Ilets is it general or academic for pet engineering
The spouse doesn't need to take IELTS if you won't claim any partner points and also if spouse can show proof of functional English.

For EA assessment as a Pet. Engr, it's IELTS (General); also EA has been accepting TOEFL iBT (this since Jan 2016).

U dont really need to provide a reference for each career episode. I didnt use for one of mine. And i didnt use a reference I just used my employment letter.
That's a plus then; less stress to get positive assessment.

Hello Jukebalm. I thought the purpose of CDR is to demonstrate your work experience, or are there CDRs that don't focus on experience? I'm asking because you said employer's reference is not needed if the CDR is not based on work experience. Please kindly explain thanks
Employers' reference is needed for EA if any of the career episodes is based on employment; however, some people are able to write their CDR's fully based on projects done during undergraduate/graduate studies- this is permitted by EA. In such a case, no need to provide employer's reference.
