@princeAdeAde have you flown emirates to the US before? I heard when you do fly with them, they do the POE questioning in dubai and once you are stamped in at dubai you wouldn't do another interview upon arrival in the US
Permit me to answer you.
For Emirates, the POE questioning is done in the USA- at whatever US airport you enter via; you only get the declaration form onboard prior to landing.

(I think it is Etihad that's got that peculiar arrangement)

Yeah, but I like that they are both spicier and 'warmer' than the DHI- I'm starting to get unfazed by the DHI smell. Almost bland to me, now.

By the way, I replied your pm; you seen that? My email address is my username @ yahoo dot com.

You know, it is possible- but it requires patience (a whole lot!), self-restraint and mumbled outbursts! grin

I consciously started driving without using my horn for about 4months now; although, that doesn't mean I haven't had to press my horn within that period- I sure have! Some scenarios are just so shocked daft, you need to 'horn out' the senselessness in that person.

Could there be any possible issues arising due to storage of working Trojan batteries outside a building, exposed to sun and rain?

Or they must be protected from the elements?

your best bet is the magnum ms4348pe inverter
Hello GeorgeD1,
Can you help with info on where/who I can get same magnum from?

I want to have a 4.3KW Inverter/Charger connection with 4 or 8 batteries. For now, no plan to include solar panels.

Also, would starting with 4 batteries and adding another 4 in about 7-12 months time have a negative effect on the setup?
As well, advice on batteries to use would be appreciated- since you have quite some experience in inverters et al.

Thanks.

Wife and I are now in Houston. POE was Dallas and very quick. At first, the officers around did not send my pregnant wife...lol, until I requested she be let to sit somewhere until it was our turn- only then did a lady pass us through an express lane.

CBP: Why are you here?
Me: For vacation and to have a baby
CBP: Why do you wanna have your baby here?
Me: Because we will get better medical care here than what avails in Nigeria
CBP: Any doctors’ correspondence?
Me: Yes- and we show him the emails and bills breakdown
CBP: How much do you have on you?
Me: $10.5k and about $30 equivalent in naira
He takes our fingerprints, scans and stamps us in for 6 months and then on to secondary inspection.

The next CBP asked what the money was for, we replied vacation and childbirth and she gave me a form to fill. Then our boxes were searched; however, the cash wasn't counted.

In all, it took about 45 minutes, then on to Houston via AA.
However, that emirates flight is looooong and the longer Dubai-Dallas legs was filled with not a single free seat; not good for preggies at all- even I couldn't sleep through the two connecting flights.

Cool!

Who checks the visa? The airline or customs/immigration?

To pack foodstuffs or not to pack foodstuffs as a migrant...which would you advise?
Airline & Immigration for sure.

Left to me, if I am migrating, no time to pack foodstuff. I mean, when your nigerian stock finishes, won't you adapt to what the country offers as food?!
However, most people still do and will continue to.

My advice would be to check the country's prohibited items on their immigration website, so you don't buy stuff only to get them thrashed at your destination; worse still, pay a fine ontop. Try to pack only what is not identified as prohibited.

FYI, Oz has very strict border control. Very.

What about for those migrating legally i.e have residency....any tips or potential 'scams' customs/immigration officials might spring up?
For migrants, I think they give themselves brain; but nevertheless, have all relevant docs handy. However, they go pray for you tire....make offering fit drop grin grin

For any traveller too, don't bother carrying foodstuffs you are unsure of; and don't let anybody offer to sell you ghana-must-go to put your foodstuffs separately grin Na higher purchase....lolz

So much for packs....lol. If only one could buy the coins vs. points, maybe I could be swayed to spend on the team.

On another note, if one gets a PS4, will one's current profile, FUT team et al on Origin show on the new console? Or it's a fresh start from division 10 on seasons and FUT??
TravelRe: Flight Boarding: Need Help As A First Time Traveller. by jukeblam(m): 11:43am On Jan 13, 2015
As per immigration/customs, you need to get to the airport on time for check-in; cos if you are running late they can attempt to whip up a random scam- any thing can come out of those guys mouth. Have enough time on your hands so you can't be threatened with a flight miss.

Never give anyone of them money even if you're migrating never to come back; take the leftover naira in your pocket with you and remember naija with it wink

Also, if you are making use of a hotel reservation, ensure your check-in date(for the hotel) is same as your arrival date at your destination. Someone once got scammed because his hotel reservation started a day after his arrival. In short, don't give them any loophole to harass you.

And no, you don't need your agent. He has made enough money off you already.

So, has anyone used the blue plastic IDP issued by FRSC to hire a car in the U.S with ease?
GamingRe: FIFA 15 Nigeria Fan Thread by jukeblam(m): 9:58am On Jan 01, 2015
Buying packs seems not worth it, IMO; or is it?
I just rather buy individual players plus the free packs I get- the 40weeks offer and the random ones for using the companion app.
Anyone care to share the tricks to trading? I often just 'quick sell' lipsrsealed

jukeblam:
So, here’s how our (my wife and I) interview went- by a male VO. Ours was in two parts:
After we left the embassy, we contacted Fagbohun for an additional letter showing what was requested; unfortunately, he said the initial letter was all he had been giving and will continue to give intending patients. After further trying to explain what was needed and still not getting any additional letter, we decided to go back 2weeks later; this time, I made two budget tables- one showing line items of birth services summed up and the second table showing total estimate including flights, accom, living expenses etc

Here's the second interview. This time it was by a much older male VO.

VO: Hello (while checking the white paper)
We: Good morning.
VO: So, do you have the additional document requested?
(This time, I hand over the two budget sheets, followed by our account statements and all other documents.)
VO: Who prepared this? (Referring to the birth only table)
Me: I did.
VO: Ok, so I see here you'll be needing about 21k...(while looking at the two tables and account statement only)
Me: No, it's about 15k in all, the birth cost is already included on the next sheet as line item No.1
VO: Oh, ok. You know you need to pay all your bills and get a letter stating a zero balance from the hospital
We: Yes we know
VO: Alright, pick up your passports on Monday at your designated collection center (circles on and passes the white collection paper to us)
We: Thank you
VO: Have a safe trip.

All in all, took about 4mins or less even.
Flights booked on emirates for Jan end- Dallas POE.

So, here’s how our (my wife and I) interview went- by a male VO. Ours was in two parts:

VO: I see you are going to Sugarland, Texas. What for?
(Our accommodation booking is in Sugarland and we are using Oakbend/Dr. Fagbohun)
Me: For vacation and to have our first baby.
VO: Say that again?
Me: For vacation and to have our first baby.
VO: Oh, ok. Have you got a Dr’s correspondence?
I pass him my email correspondence with Fagbohun, the letter stating all the fees and my budget sheet showing birth costs, flights costs et al
VO: What’s the total cost for this birth?
Me: A little over 6000 dollars
VO: Uhhmm.....it usually costs about 6 to 7 times that amount.
Me: This is in Texas and ....
VO: (cuts in) Yea...more like 6 times that amount. Have you got a consolidated estimate from the Dr. showing the total cost you'd be expected to pay? Cos this here, (holding the Fagbohun letter) is generic and can be used by anyone.
Me: It’s all summed up in my budget sheet.
VO: No, I want something from the hospital saying this is how much it would cost you- Mr. XX to have x procedure done.
Me: Ok
VO: So, what do you do?
Me: I work as XX with XX
VO: Can I see your badge?
I pass him my work I.D and he makes a scan.
VO: (Turns to my wife) So, ma'am what were you doing previously before.....?
Wife: Well, I still work. I am a XX with XX.
VO: Ok. So here’s what I’m gonna do, I'll suspend your application and you go get a letter addressing you specifically showing ‘a consolidated estimate of medical care in the U.S’. Take this (hands me a white sheet) and come back with the additional document requested on any of the specified days and you'll be let in. You do not need to make another appointment online.
Wife and I: Ok.

He didn't check bank statements, office letter of introduction et al, no job description nor salary questions, no travel history questions.

Will drop the second interview 'transcript' shortly.

You find out the audio is not a high quality one- sometimes speakers could be missing even
the shocks and bushings are not well groomed for our wonderful roads; yet these vehicles are supposedly assembled for Nigeria oh lipsrsealed
You have very limited luxury options; all that plasticky feel, poor padding- car interior heats up back immediately one turns off the A.C!
Just get yourself a tokunbo American Specs car if you have enough cash; forget all these made-for-Nigeria brand new cars- especially the Asian brands.
Now, I cannot say what obtains in the case of brand new American or European brands sold in Nigeria viz the Fords, BMWs et al but Kia, Hyundai?? Man, leave 'em alone!

2012 1.4L AT GLS sedan; yet to see a hatchback in Nigeria.
The phrase 'American Specs' sure carries a lot of weight! Not buying another made/assembled in Nigeria car after this for sure. No reviews would you see mention of a 1.4l engine; but for Nigeria, there can be an exception to the rule angry

Like you said, there are only two airbags vs 6 in the A-specs version.
No cruise control, no reverse cam- yet to see any model with this even.
CD Player, bluetooth, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, USB and 3mm jack present and work great.
Fuel economy is definitely below the mpg estimates; with or without ECO mode on.

The cabin doesn't seem properly padded as road and wind noise is quite obvious while driving; also, the interior warms up FAST once you switch off the A.C.
Handling is good and the ride isn't harsh. However, upshift from gear 3-4 usually takes forever but once crossed, you won't know when you hit 130. (I would presume it's a 4-speed transmission, not sure)

But, how many days after spraying did U pressure-wash? I think I read somewhere that says the bond becomes strong enough to withstand a pressure washer after certain days. Some guy even uploaded a video of himself washing his fully dipped car with a pressure gun.

As well, how many coats did U apply?
