UI is to admit 150 students for medicine.
2500 passed 180 in jamb and are qualified.
the school raised the cut of mark for medicine to 250 and still 1000 passed yet they need 150.
those with long leg and connection with 250 and above are 50 now they need 100 from 950 qualified..
100 taken the rest were spread across other science course with 50% determined to reapply for medicine the following year.
yes another 30% from other courses reapplied, more who were denied the previous year reapplied, and fresh secondary school students applied.
growing the number of applicants the following year to 3500. and yet the school still takes in 150 at most..
on this scenario, people are qualified but yet denied because of excess applicants .
competitive parents would tell their wards to read harder and score much higher so they'll be exceptional but in reality those with 280 and 320 are exceptionally good already...
people are being denied not because they are bad but because the competition is massive.

verdict: population growth is massive but food production for that population is not up to expectations.
it's either we increase productivity or reduce birth rate if we want things to get better or we would wail forever.

my advice: reduce birth rate and increase productivity .
