rvp2018: LDC is based on GDP per capita - and West & Central Africa mineral rich countries have "inflated" GDP but poverty is different story. It's Equatorial Guinea type of mess. yet Central Africa is still poor with almost all it countries classified as LDC despite your presupposed inflated GDP. The only country classified middle income on this photo but does not deserve to be there because of how poor it is is Kenya with it inflated GDP. Lovely neighborhood

mdntiri: Thank you Vankelvin. I didn't want to talk too much on this. It's heartbreaking. Tema, Ashaiman with their large populations, great locations on the busy Nigeria-Ivory Coast road, their nearness to Accra etc etc should be planned into proper modern cities with high rises, many multistorey indoor markets, dualized roads, intra city rail etc etc. Even common Tema-Accra rail line which should ideally be double track, even this small line we can't run. Poorer Senegal is running electric trains for example
Etc etc etc. I could go on and on. It's sad. Ghana our biggest currency is our PEACE. And with all this peace if we can't be VISIONIONARY and think BIG and radically transform our spaces then I don't know if you want Accra yo Tema rail to be profitable, you'll have to stop trotro from plying the route... That cannot happened in any democratic dispensation.. Don't count on private car owners parking their cars to join a train. It will be an inconvenience for them |

mdntiri: Ok. The long Accra commute reason makes sense. But TDC has done a good job on Tema? Really? Yes theyve done a good job at maintaining and are far better than any other MCE and DA that I know. They done well at phasing out the old apartments from Nkrumah era for new and modern ones. TDC is the only MCE that has made investments in real estate for it residents. |

mdntiri: Why's Tema a neglected city? With all the resources, harbour, factories, nearness to Accra, it's planned nature etc etc, why's Tema a neglected city? Why's there a decline in the city's population, when it should rather be going up? From 161,612 in 2013 to 155, 782 in 2020? The City is neglected because it's development is not a govt mandate. The city is run by an almost private Corporation and they have done a good job at it. It population is declining because, those rich guys who used to see it as a haven that is 15 to 20 minutes away from the bustling Accra where they work, no longer have those views because of the traffic on the motorway that has changed the commuting time to 40min or an hour. |

jl115: @Just40
The International Grains Council (IGC) puts South Africa’s total grains production in 2020-21 at 18.6 million tonnes, up from 18 million the previous year. The total includes 2.1 million tonnes of wheat, compared with 1.5 million in 2019-20. The country’s corn crop in 2020-21 is put at 15.8 million tonnes, down from 16 million the year before.
2.1 + 15.8 = 17.9 million tons...from just 2 grain types You're typing like you don't know what I'm talking about |

jl115: However, the attaché forecast a “marginal increase in the commercial demand for corn in the 2020-21 marketing year to 11.6 million tonnes
Local consumption/Demand is 11.6million tons for maize and wheat demand is 3.3 million 14.9 million for wheat and maize alone... What about rice and barley, or you've forgotten they are also grains? |

jl115: "The International Grains Council (IGC) puts South Africa's total grains production in 2020-21 at 18.6 million tonnes" at this point, I'm referring to wheat alone .... But if we are referring to grain in total, this 18 million tonnes is less than your total grain consumption of 19.7 million tonnes |

Kuruptnigga: No traffic lights. They should Also fix that too to make it look more beautiful. why would we put traffic lights on a residential street and end up creating traffic even when the other side is free? This even protects the street and make drivers communicate with each other. |

gallivant: What is it with food and you folk? There are no supply crisis in bulk grain. Brazil and South Africa have an oversupply of grain among others so relax, you won't go hungry. we don't import much grain and our import don't come from Ukraine... Unfortunately your country will starve because 90% of it grain comes from Ukraine...There's a huge supply chain crisis in the world and this war is just adding up to it. SA surplus can't feed your country because they have buyers for them. |
