Long Post Alert!

Hi guys! I’m super excited to make this post. I came across this forum when I was about to submit my application and I have been a silent reader. Sincerely speaking, all the information I gathered from page one of this thread and from individuals’ comments aided me in putting together my application documents.

I’m a graduate of Petroleum Engineering (MSc & BSc). I was offered admission to do an MSc in Mining Engineering programme (Petroleum Geostatistics concentration) at the University of Alberta, beginning January 7, 2019.

Here is my application timeline:

November 22 - Submitted my application (paper route), with upfront medicals.
November 23 - Linked my application to my online account
December 5 - Medical exam passed.
December 6 - Received correspondence letter for biometrics validity (from Nairobi).
December 6 - Eligibility review began
December 21 - Received another correspondence letter for biometrics validity (from Lagos).
December 24 - My application was approved.

Document submitted

Academic Documents:
• Acceptance letter from the University of Alberta.
• Receipts of payment for official transcripts processing, to meet admission offer conditions.
• MSc/BSc academic transcripts and degree certificates
• West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate

Proof of Financial Support:
• Funding letter from the University of Alberta (indicating CAD1,750/month stipend plus full tuition cover). This was my only proof of financial support.

Other Documents:
• All the required CIC Application forms.
• Police character certificate
• Upfront medical form
• Data page of International passport and page showing travel history.
• NYSC certificate
• Birth certificate
• Certificate of Origin
• Mother and siblings’ birth certificates
• Resume
• Internship completion certificate
• Letter of Introduction from the lecturer I work with (as a Graduate Assistant).
• Letter of Introduction from my HOD/MSc Thesis Supervisor.

Above all, I give all thanks, praise and glory to the Almighty God for His immense grace and favour. For all TRV hopefuls and everyone reading this post, may God speedily grant to you unmerited favour in Jesus Mighty Name…

Happy Holidays!

Opening the transcript makes it invalid.so I will advise that you send it separately
olupentane:

Thank you for your response. My application portal shows that I need to send two transcripts college 1&2. my plan is to take my OND transcript to my university and have it sent together with my BSc transcript using the school authorized courier service.
I just want to be sure it won't be viewed negatively on my application.

Thanks.

Omoarukheo:
Hi,
Justobserving1 and pheoebe, I didn't have to go to the embassy anymore cos I got a reply from Nairobi. They said something about the application being finalized and the passport will be sent to Vfs in a few days!

Hopefully we will hear from them soon

I have a question house, so I applied for american visa in june and my interview date was for december, i was denied the american visa but before then, i was approved for the canadian study permit just remaining to submit passport.

I couldnt submit my passport because I was waiting for the american tourist visa interview. I have submitted my passport to Vfs now. The question is should I send a webform informing them I was denied american tourist visa? do you think this new development will have an impact on my approval?
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Justobserving1: 9:00am On Dec 08, 2018
Thank you for your response. Do you get this letter after you have submitted and received your passport from VFS ? Or you get it once you get passport request ?
Austacus:
@Justobserving1
Congratulations
The correspondence letter Is the letter whilst you will get after your visa has been approved.
It is used at the port of entry in Canada airport.
If you haven't received yours, try and email cic for it and you we get it real quick.
The letter is important and its different from the biometric correspondence letter.

Make sure you get it before traveling!

@Agbons101 you dey try even after you got your visa approved you still they help out.
Thanks

Awuuga:
Congratulations bro. I told you it will come, on or before Friday. The Correspondence letter will come in much later.

My application was approved on a Friday as well, I didn’t get my correspondence letter until Tuesday.

You can go & collect your stamped passport from Vfs. Once again, congratulations.

PPR!!!!
I saw a post about people only posting when they are denied visa and not when they are approved and I felt bad because it is actually true. Anyways I joined nairaland after I submitted my application however, I will state what I did to ease my application

I applied on the 3rd of October 2018, did my biometrics on the 9th of October. Then on the 25th of October I checked my portal and sa my medicals has been updated to passed.

[b]I applied online and I did upfront medicals[/b
Then on the 28th of November my eligibility review started, I got a biometrics validity correspondence later same day. Then on the 1st if Decmeber which is a Saturday I got my PPR. I didn’t even know they respond to people on the weekend

Anyways to the important part my documents
SOA of 11m
I paid my tuition of CAD7,800
I put my father’s companies certificate of incorporation. My father was my sponsor
I put his sponsorship letter
My bank statement was for 6 months there was also a letter on the statement from the banks stating my father is the sole owner of the account and some other information I can’t remember
I also put my fathers certificate of ownership for a land
I then put two different valuation documents for a house in lagos and ph

Then for the other information I put my SOP which was very detailed. I studied economics as my Bsc and I’m going for masters in economics which makes my case very easy to explain. I also worked in a good company practicing economy’s
I put my present companies offer letter, WAEC, some NYSC documents because at that time I was still doing my NYSC. I put my transcript, TOEFL result because in one of the forms online I was asked if I had taken the English proficiency exam and I selected yes so It made a lot of sense to include that in my document. I got 96/120 in my toefl.

I prayed and prayed and prayed. I checked my portal everyday until I got the PPR. Thank God for good news. It shall end in praise for every other applicant.

Hey please a quick question. How does your online portal look when you have been approved? Does your eligibility still say we are checking whether you meet our eligibility requirement ?
Also, does your final decision say your application has been approved ? Please your response is highly anticipated. Thank you.
lonelydude:

IMM Docs
All academic certs
All employment letters (past & present)
Letter of recommendation from my Mentor
Police certs
C of O of property outside Lagos.
Travel History (3 US visas & 3 UK visas)
Self sponsor TB -13 & small assist from my bro for living expenses CSOA.
Tuition not yet paid. Will pay in few days before leaving.

I'm 39 and married.
That was my only attempt but I have previous MSc from Jand over 10years ago.
I had an open mind whether approved or not because I always live with the mentality that Jesus has taken the wheel and that he's on the driver's seat of my life and wherever he moves me can never be wrong for my destiny.

Keep your hope alive because your own miracle, your approved visa is on the way towards you.

You are next to testify.

Hello pals good morning
Wanna know where specifically can I go for my medicals
And how much does it really cost

Thanks

I used The Children’s Practice in Ikoyi http://www.childrenspractice.com that is their website. Most people know Qlife and IOM but there are 3 different places you can do medicals in lagos. It costs 28,350 because I did mine on Saturday. But usually it’s 28,000 or so
