sean001: @justwise, thanks a lot for all your help. I have an issue bothering my mind about my application i am proposing. i wasn't aware of any policy guidance when i started planning until i had an interview with school i applied to (through skype). My mum actually gave me 7,200 pounds for my maintenance fee while my sister who is in the uk is to be responsible for the payment of my school fees which is 4,980 pounds. My initial believe was that the ukba recognizes funds held in foreign account to that of our local banks here, so i transferred the 7,200 pounds to my sister. It was during the interview i was referred to the Tier 4 of the Points Based System – Policy Guidance when i stated that my sister will be responsible for my school fees and maintenance fund.To get this resolved, i believe the money has to be transferred back to Nigeria in which the cheapest means by my inquiries is through bank transfer. My concern now is that if the money is to be transferred into my account, who will i claim will be my sponsor, myself or my mum? won't they suspect a foul play as it will show clearly from my statement of account who transferred the money and how it was transferred.Am so confused please help me out Only if u had listened to muami here https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=331618.msg8527047#msg8527047 he explained the issue of sponsorship and maintenance fees there for you couple of days ago. Check the first page of this thread ell77 has updated it and you will see question of school and maintenance fees answered. |

overblood: Excuse me xxcarolx but I am Irish, and I am entitled to avail of social welfare since I have paid my fair share of income taxes throughout the years. And you are forgetting that we are EU citizens.
Sorry, I think you'll actually find that it's MOST and not some. You are too naive, there are Nigerians with Irish passports, living and working legally, they are entitled to social welfare as well. So stop moaning about being EU citizen and all that nonsense. |
Travel › Re: Nigerians In Ireland, how are you Coping With The Recession And The Eu Bailout? by justwise(mod): 6:11pm On Jul 19, 2011 |
overblood: This is quite an old thread but I'll add to it anyways. Nigerians do have a bad reputation in Ireland due to the usual sight of a fat African women walking through town with 6 kids behind her, and the average Irish citizen knows 100% that she is using Irish tax money to buy fashionable clothes for herself. We know she is milking the system and has nothing to run from at home in Nigeria. The stories in the news papers like that Pamela Izevbekhai woman really drive the issue home. Thankfully Pamela was put on a plane and flown back to Nigeria, but it does make everybody wonder if those other Africans you see walking down the street are also scamming our country. I suppose it is a state of paranoia for some, because I know there are also hard working Nigerians. The hard working guys need some positive publicity though! You guys need to make some business group and donate something to a school, I'm imagining a nice headline "The Irish Society of Law Abiding Nigerian Businessmen donate a new computer to X School in Dublin"But guys you know you have a bad reputation even as far away as Kenya. I lived in Kenya for a year and wherever there was a counterfeit money bust a Nigerian or Congolese was involved. Some Nigerians and NOT all Nigerians. Why should Nigerians donate anything to any school in Dublin? Nigerians are among those Irish 'tax payers' as well. |

juzme: http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2011/0719/breaking32.html Her campaign to stay here saw her make more than 20 appearances in the High Court and a number of appearances in the Supreme Court. That court’s rejection last year of her claim that the Minister for Justice had discretion to reconsider her application was seen by some legal experts as marking the end of her Irish legal challenges. After wasting so much money to battle her deportation order and now she is deported. If you have been following this case in the past you would discover that she told many lies and also used forged documents. Maybe I should as well say that some Nigerian solicitors practising abroad are exploiting Nigerians living abroad. They want to make you believe you can prolong your stay in Europe even when you don't have a genuine reason to do so. They tarnish image of Nigeria abroad. What a shame, i guess its a victory for common sense and justice. |

faithin9ja: KenGali wrote An intelligent write up but some fundamental errors. No sentiment in business, do your business with whoever, US and Japan despite US wiping out Hiroshima & Nagasaki or Pearl harbour, both nations trade revenues many times the whole of Africa's trade (including South Africa) Service industry is not all bad - recent analysis; breakdown on a $300 Apple iPod - $80 goes to those who developed it, $25 to the manufacturers (ie China factory) and the balance $195 goes to marketing, retail and transport Rich relatives always get a warm welcome; rich Nigerian and Russians in Harrods are treated royally as are are Chinese and Japanese tourists, but Iraqi, Pakistani and Chinese illegal immigrants in backs of lorries trying to smuggle in Europe are treated badly. (it's a fact of life in any part of the world - I bet when you go to your village for Christmas they treat you like royalty compare that to some other poorer relatives) I enjoyed reading what u just written here than that one-sided propaganda by KenGali littered with lies, conspiracy theories and old fashioned view of international relationships. |

2bosun: Very well said my brother, we keep blaming others for our failures. Abeg free them people, everyone is looking to protect their interests. You can't blame them for our incompetent leaders. Its really sad, we stole our own money and bank it in Europe, we sold our oil to buy guns and all sorts of weapons to fight ourselves, we travel to Europe for good medical treatments and education but failed to pay OUR OWN doctors and teachers a living wage. We blame the WEST for our problems but still accept charities from the WEST and complain when those charities come with CONDITIONS. Nigeria of 1960 with oil blame the WEST, how about South Africa of 1994 without oil? Should we compare? |

paris10: That was just an example @justwise. You're one of those who persistently and insistently demanded that I should provide more info regarding this. Now that you know little, you're talking about effects. If you're concern about effect, delete the post you copied from me and I'll do the same here.
All these are the reasons why I said people should contact me in the first place. Different situation would definitely mean different solution for each student. Why did u even stated at the beginning of this thread that this is not a way of beating the system? I'm not going to delete all the posts i quoted you, you should have thought about the consequences of this sort of thread on any genuine Nigerian with a genuine reason to apply for a stay. This con is not new, your victim-to be will go through hell, its expensive, the case drags on forever without any hope of getting the paper while their 'solicitor' keep milking them. |

Travel › Re: Are You A Uk Student And Want To Stay Permanently? Here Is Your Chance! by justwise(mod): 10:22pm On Jul 18, 2011 |
paris10: So you still don't get it. How about you being in the UK sponsored by your family back home and you out of no where received a telephone call saying your parents/sponsor died in a ghastly motor accident (God forbid though). You thought about going home but you're stranded, couple with fact that you have no home to return to because your parents were renting the flat you once lived. The landlord had packed your parents goods into a store and the only family who could have helped you settle back home had relocated to Europe with his/her family. You're not working in the UK and had no savings which you could have used to establish yourself back home. THIS SITUATION IS WHAT IS REFERRED TO AS COMPASSIONATE EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES. The only hope you now have is relying on the settled family member in the UK. And as long as you can prove you have a strong private and family life in the UK, You'll be given an ILR or in some cases a 3 years compassionate visa which upon expiring qualifies you for an ILR. The scenario you painted out there is exceptionally possible but i still don't see how you will give the same story line if 10-20 Nigerian students contacted u today concerning ur advert. Do you also consider the fact that somebody else may be reading this thread? Have you thought about the effect it may have on a genuine applicant? |
Travel › Re: Are You A Uk Student And Want To Stay Permanently? Here Is Your Chance! by justwise(mod): 9:17pm On Jul 18, 2011 |
paris10: The highlighted sentence does not relate to ILR under the family scheme, it is meant for Asylum application. You don't have to prove that your life is in danger back home. You only need to prove that you have no home to return to i.e your parents are no more and you have no relative back home who could take care of you. You also have to prove that you depend financially and morally on your sponsor (family in the UK) 99.9%
But this is only for students who have settled family in the UK. As for students who do not have settled relative, this is where I come in. Where u come in is to ''manufacture'' a family member? How can an adult Nigerian student paying more than £15.000 yearly to study in the UK claim to have nobody to look after him or her back home? |
Travel › Re: Are You A Uk Student And Want To Stay Permanently? Here Is Your Chance! by justwise(mod): 8:28pm On Jul 18, 2011 |
paris10: Let me go straight to the point. Coming to this forum and revealing how students could take advantage of the system shows mockery of the entire system. Students should bare the consequences of wanting to stay in the UK other than for study. But for some exceptions, the Adult Dependent Relative scheme under what is referred to as the exceptional compassionate circumstances for people of 18 years and above would work just perfectly for those students who have either a settled brother, sister, aunt, mother, father in the UK and can't go back to their country due to these exceptional reasons. This scheme is applied under the ILR (family member) using form SET (F).Now you need to understand the second part. I won't mind telling this on the forum if you think I'm not in any way encouraging people back home to come and take advantage of the system. The rich would definitely benefit from it but at the detriment of the poor students. People back home can't just travel here and have ILR without lawfully residing there for upto 5 good year. Even if they get married to a citizen, it will still take them 3 years to get their ILR. These are the reasons why I'm a lil bit hesitant to revealing how a student (UK) can apply for ILR without having a family member in the UK. I only want the UK students to benefit from this and not those who are planning to come here. But if you guys don't mind, I might as well reveal it.Let me have your opinion students. . . but paris10 that scheme is nothing new, and that was exactly what tjadeba pointed out to you, so how can u ask any student with at least one month visa and a friend in the UK to apply? This is one of the most difficult route to citizenship/permanent stay, it takes alot of stress, i mean you have to prove beyond every reasonable doubt that ur life will be in danger if u return to your home country. Tell me how any Nigerian student with a friend here could go through this route legally successful. |
