After completing the online form u will be told where the biometrics will be taken.

That will depend on ur trip, are u staying in a hotel or with a friend/family member? Planing to do some shopping or sightseeing? That will help u plan.

So $5 will give u about £3 + as for today's exchange rate.

Yea u can do that BUT don't change ur dollar into £ at any airport, change it at any post office in the city. Just take abt £20 with u for tax or bus rid into the city then walk into any post office or bank and do change it.

Thanks for all your support to this thread which I used in getting my first UK visa and first trip outside africa.
I left the shores to london 11th April and returned 16th April 2011 to attend the conference as stated in my
visa application. I hope to do another trip before the visa expires in sept 2011.
This is a business visa but I will like to ask if I can use it as just a normal visiting in my next trip?

It has more to do with UK govt regulations than what u listed above, it has to do with ur right to work ful time in the UK than anything else. So foreign students are affected by some regulations that prevent them from working ful time after graduation.

i was refused visa then cos of insufficient funds,i was working then, i had enough money in my account but cos i borrowed some money from my company, the monthly deduction caused my net pay to be low. I added another name of mine to the new passport, not family name. I appreciate your quick response

Ok, you have to call their attention to the name change and explain why, don't allow the BHC to second guess why u did that cos it could be seen as fraud. Do u work in Turkey? Do you have any serious Tie to Turkey? Things like family, property, good job etc?

Why did they refused u visa in 2009? Can u remember? When u said u added one more name, do u mean first name or family name?

No he doesn't need to do TB test b4 traveling to the UK, if its necessary he will be tested at the UK airport.

Yes he has to apply online and they will give him an appointment date and his biometric details will be taken at the embassy.

If the banks refused to allow embassies to verify the bank statements then the visa will be refused

As a Masters student u don't have any prob in terms of working hrs, it still 20hrs during term time and full time during the holiday, however, the post-study work permit will close next April, so if u are starting ur masters this Sept u will not be able to apply at the end of ur course, That said, there are other work permit program open to graduates but its hard to qualify for that as a foreign student.
