Travel › Re: Uk Post Study Visa In Nigeria With Uk Bank Account by justwise(mod): 3:19pm On Apr 13, 2011
igbogolo:
Thanks Justwise.

The problem is that I heard from my former colleagues who said that a friend was not allowed to use his UK account at the VFS office in Lagos.

My girlfriend is the one applying for this post study visa, and if for instance she has to use her nigerian account, then she would have to wait for 3 months in nigeria after depositing the funds to use the nigerian account. We are supposed to travel together in June so I am afraid that her visa would not be ready by then.

She has emailed the UK embassy to enquire and has not gotten any reply for 2 weeks now.
I see where u are coming from, have you visited the VFS to find out? Why not ask her to send u the money then u pay it into her account and start counting the 3months? You can both travel at the later date to avoid refusal.

she would be coming back next month and would be applying in nigeria when she gets there. so she has not really been in nigeria long. her last travel was in November last year where she stayed just 19 days.

She has been in the UK for a year and a half and has not really been using her nigerian account and infact there is no money in her GTB account for now. But she has enough funds to apply with her UK account.
That wouldn't be a problem, she can get her Uk bank statement(3months) and travel to Nigeria and apply or pay the money into her GTB account and apply. Applying from Nigeria will be cheaper interms of application fees but more expensive interms of the money she need to have in her account. If she is applying in the UK, she only need to have £800 in her account but applying from Nigeria she will need to have abt £2,000 in her account.

I meant he's dead when he gets back to Germany. Well, this happened Feb 17th so must still be in jail but alive.
He knew what he is doing, he doesn't want to go back to Ghana, the German govt can't hold him for ever and can't deport him to any country that refuses to accept him as their citizen.

Why do u feel sorry for him? The police in Ghana can only go by what he told them. He got what he wanted which is to go back to Germany.

thanks justwise, i didnt just pay the deposit - i have paid about half of the fees and am hoping to add some more by the time i start in september by God's grace so that i don't put too much pressure on my self while studying.

the plan is to get the balance of the fees and the living expenses for the 28 days, i can just get my cousin to put some reference sayingin it is my school fees, what do you think?
I don't think u need that. How will the ECO verify that? If u have the money in ur account go ahead and apply.

Check if ur school is ranked: higly trusted by UKBA

Ok, you got me worng somewhere. I will not be sending any cash from the uk to my cousin in nigeria. I practically don have much after paying what i paid to the school and noone her would want to transfer cash to nigeria because quite a lot would be lost in exchange and transfer if you get what I mean, my cousin on his own wants to put his own cash into my account in nigeria, then i would send it back to him after the application.
what do you think?
I only plan to plan the actual rest when i start working part time as a student.
That will be a prob as u are expected to have all the money b4 the start of ur course. Rying on working 10 or 20hrs a week to pay fees is very tough.

but will the ECO not wonder why i am sending it back to my cousin? he/she might decide that i can not fulfil the terms of sponsoring myself after all, and what about the issue of lump sums? would it be ok if he pays it all at once?

God bless you ! you are an angel
There is nothing wrong with sending money home for a genuine reason like that, if u can transfer it from the UK straight to ur account in Nigeria then do it, ur cousin can transfer the money 3 or 4 times but as i explained to u, you have to explain to the ECO how u managed to pay the money in ur account while in the UK. The activites in ur account will show that as well, it will show when ur cousin paid in and when u paid ur cousin back . You have to submit both ur UK and Nigeria bank account since u are legally working in the UK, u will not have any problem submitting ur bank statements.

thanks justwise, you have been very kind and helpful. I am begginning to get grips with the way now. in the case of the money in nigeria (please, note that i will not be sending any money to my cousin - he will be sending his to my nigerian account and it would show on the bank statement, won't it? besides, there will be nothing to show that i sent the money to him because there is nothing to even send sef, grin grin grin
That is true but u can still do it. Tell your cousin to transfer that money from his own account to your account, he should not pay it by cash and when you get to Nigeria, don't pay your cousin by cash rather pay him through the same bank account u will use for the visa application. All these transaction will show in your account and will tell the ECO how the money came into your account while u were in the UK and how u paid back.

i can not share it, if you have any one who want to travel , i can stand for it , i will book the ticket and get the the ticket for the client from any airline.
You can't share cos u got it illegally, booking the ticket and getting the ticket number is not the prob, the prob will come when the airline start investigating and ur victim will be held responsible while u will be no where to be found, not even in ur uncle's house

I am sponsoring myselfand have paid part of the tuition fees but it is the money that has to be shown in my account now for 28 days that is the problem.
If anyone here even decided to transfer that huge sum of money to nigeria then they'd lose quite a lot in exchange and transfer so I would rather have someone in nigeria put that for me - I have an account but would they ask no questions as to where the money came from after the account had not been active for a while?
Do you know of anyone who has applied with account details from a country other than where they applied from?
i can try calling again tomorrow to double-check and be sure of which way to swing. I just need to know that they would ask how i got the money.
One more thing: when they say after the 28 days, it shouldnt be more than a more before applying, what do they mean?
thanks again!!
You don't really have a prob, let the person deposit the money for u and when u are submittig the application form submit both UK and Nigeria bank account and explain in that form that while u were in the UK that u instructed a relative to deposit that money for u. your Uk bank account will proof where the money came from. The ECO will also see that  u have made some payment to the school through your UK bank account.
What they meant by 28days and should not be more than a mounth is: If u deposited that money on the 1st of April, it will due by 28 of April and u must apply on or b4 28 of May.

Thanks for your quick response, Justwise!!I called the ukba then was directed to call the ukvisas office from wherever I plan to apply from regarding the accounts issue - i wanted to know if I can use my account here in the uk but they said it was advisable to use an account domiciled in Nigeria (i do not know if the young lady I spoke to in lagos was not sure about this).
Now, if it is certain that I can use UK account and get my sister to put in the amount needed for the 28 days, would they need to see proof of how the money got there without me saying it is from a sponsor? because there is no way that I would on my own get that money in the short space - do they ask for any kind of proof?
secondly, i currently live in London but will be schooling outside london, as per accommodation, can i just state where I will be staying?
Thanks a lot!
Are u sponsoring urself ur or is ur sis sponsoring u? if u are adviced to use Nigeria account then is either u transfer the money to ur brother or sister in Nigeria to deposit in an account for u or u travel a month early to open an account in the Nigeria when it clocks 28days u print it out and apply. You don't need to show source of income as its not part of student visa requirement. Having an accommodation b4 applying is not part of requirement either. The CAS u have now have a expiring date, so check with ur school b4 traveling to Nigeria to make sure that it still valid by the time u send in ur application. You can explain in ur application form that u sent the money home while in the UK, if u did bank 2 bank transfer that will show in ur bank statement.

HELLO HOUSE!! A friend recommended this site and I have not regretted after going through some of the posts. I was under the impression that there would be a different thread for UK Student Visas and have not been able to go through all the pages, Here is my story:
I am presently in the uk (on a working holiday visa) and plan to return to nigeria in july to apply for a tier 4 visa for post-graduate studies. I have found a school and paid the deposit required and have my cas letter, I have also been visiting the ukba website regularly for updates.I know about the living expenses for schools outside london being £600 per month and for the duration of 12months (7,200) and the balance of whatever is paid for the tuition fees. In the school application, I made it clear that I will be sponsoring myself (and completing the balance in the process of working part-time when I would have started), but I realise that the amount asked has to be in an account for 28 days and the plan is for a cousin of mine to help when the time comes to pay in about =N=3million, Now, the questions are:since I have not been in Nigeria and my account has not been active with payments, would it be safe to just get that amount at once? because I do not not know the process of having to make him my sponsor instead, what are the odds? Secondly, I plan to stay with someone until I get a place of my own but what would I have to show in respect of that in the application?I want to know so I can plan from now please. It has been giving me sleepless nights especially the account stuff, Please, i look forward to hearing from your advices and suggestions.thank you!!
The maintenace fees for cities outside london is £5400 and not £7200. U can use ur UK account to apply, u basically deposit the £5400 plus the remaining school fees into ur Uk bank account a month b4 traveling to Nigeria, when it clocked 28days u request for the statement and travel to Nigeria with it to apply.
You can sponsor urself, u don't need a sponsor and accommodation is not part of requirements, u can use ur current address in the UK now for the application.

Yes Suxes2005 this section is about helping Nigerians, its about sharing info, its about learning from each other, however suxes2005, this section is not about telling pple that u have a 'link' on how to claim asyslum in Canada, do immigration clearance in Malaysia for Nigerians traveling them, attend visa interview on behalf of your customers thats wrong and misleading. I'm not against any genuine business here what i hate with passion is the misleading, lies and dodgy business promotion going on here.
You can advertise and do your business here without telling some porkies, when u started advertising your visa business here i did not comment on it untill u started getting desperate and making some rediculous claims and promises.
