Humans make mistakes, machines make mistakes only God doesn't. This happened in January but maybe u didn't read abt it or u are new here. The bank did not capture 4naira of SMS alert, the branch has apologised for their action. So to people that turned themselves to jury over it. Well done
Post the original case here or perhaps where the story was posted.

The other person's bank statement was said to have been confirmed by the bank but there was an error in the calculations which simply means the person had tempered with it. UKVI didn't find that out from the bank but from their own calculations.

It's also possible that they can verify the balance because things change everytime, I didn't say otherwise this time. But that wasn't totally justified from the post, hence, my observations.
You did not understand what you read from that refusal letter, How did they know that the figure was tampered with if they did not get the original document from the bank?

They did not calculation because they have two different bank statements , one original and the other one tampered with, so where did they get the original to compare with?

I only stated my observations which was what I expected you to take note. The maintenance fee is not right, is it? And I also wasn't affirmative about the disclosure of balances this time. Same way you were asking for proofs from people who said the "new law" says they should leave the money there until the visa is out.
I made that comment quoting you because of your previous comment on this issue, you stated clearly that the bank can never disclose bank balance to the embassy.

The maintenance fee quoted in that letter is for last year which could be a mistake from the ECO but the content of that letter is what we are talking about.

Apart from this particular case someone else posted a refusal letter where it shows that the embassy confirmed the bank balance of the applicant, do you also believe that it was made up?

Optimally:
I don't think that is the case, I think they gave out the original statement but someone altered it before submitting it. Though anything is possible in our Nigeria system but these statements are auto generated and it's hard for spreadsheet to make error during automation I would say
So how did the embassy managed to get details of the original bank statement if banks don't disclose current balance?

Prisscindy:
With regards to the initial post about bank statements, I honestly feel that the post/decision letter isn't genuine or has been tampered with.

The letter stated that the money needed for maintenance outside London is £9,135. This would have been the case if it was last year Sept/October before the maintenance fee needed outside London was raised to £9,207, but the letter further made reference to 4th May, 2021. ECO make mistakes but I really doubt this case.

Many people just like to chase clout so I would not be surprised if someone had edited something somewhere.

That being said, many conclusions drawn from the letter can't also be ascertained because nobody knows what dates the bank statement carried, if the amount reduced during the 28 days period or not and the date the refusal was issued.
I know you will cast doubt on this because you are one of those who believed that banks will never disclose bank balance to the embassy.

Sadly some naïve ones will believe this and still get caught.

It’s like when we print out bank statements, we should use calculator to calculate the transactions made on the account ourselves.

E be like fidelity bank excel sheet no dey work well oooo
No that is not the case, someone probably printed genuine bank statement then use a software to change figures on it then reprint it to submit to the embassy.

If you had submitted the same bank statement you got from the bank exactly the way its then figures will match during verification

UKVI New Rule
Ensure that you maintain your funds in your account until your visa is approved. You can’t clear your account after printing your bank statement after the 28days again.
UKVI now make decisions based on the time they check account statement.

Where did you get this info from?

Good morning all.
I saw this somewhere & thought to share.
I know some people borrow their proof of funds but know that you might be asked for an update at any point so it’s best to keep the money in the account even till you arrive in the Uk.
Just an advice
Where are those arguing ignorantly here for yrs that the bank can not disclose bank balance to the embassy?

Do you still have the money for fees and maintenance...what about reapplying again .

Justwise isn't that an option at this point?
Is either he reapplies or go for AR if he is very sure that the embassy made a mistake.

Seriously somebody need to speak up about the exploitation of foreign students by many UK universities, charging full tuition fees when the student study only online with his or her own resource.

Don't start any online classes when you don't have your visa,

Continue! You have your Fanboys supporting.

I really suggest that you keep my ID out of whatever issue you have with Mods, clearly you are clueless about what you are talking about but that doesn't stop from insulting Mods.

Super Mods has the right to push any relevant publication to front page without any sentiment, this article https://www.thecable.ng/timeline-how-south-west-is-becoming-a-hotbed-of-ritual-killings-in-nigeria was published yesterday and its relevant.

May you rot in hell alongside the mischievous mod who pushed this to the front page. God will definitely punish you and your generation for this act of wickedness you people perpertrate using @seun's Nairaland. Imagine this publication that was published long long time ago now being repackaged on Nairaland. Anyone who types "ritual killings in Nigeria" on their search box/Google will definitely have this as one of the top results. But here you people are, repackaging the title to suit your wicked agenda..

May you all not know peace. Go ahead and ban me if you like. That's why I tagged @Seun to see the injustice being perpetrated on a daily basis using his media.

So sad Nigeria has turned to a scammers den. How then can we better our country?
..so what happens if he is using 2-3 different numbers?

Hello Everyone,

Please, I need advise on this issue. I am currently in a dilemma.
I got admission in the UK for February, 2021 intake. I made a deposit of 4,000 pounds towards my tuition fee and started studying online while I waited for my visa. I submitted my priority visa application in feb. Unfortunately, 5days later I was denied visa. The reason for the denial was that the bank statement submitted was for 20days instead of 28days. This was an obvious error from the UKVI because the statement I submitted was for 30days, from 9/1/2021 to 9/2/2021. I emailed the school about the denial and I was advised to apply for an administrative review. Which I did on the 24th of feb. Its been 3 months since I applied for the AR and its still not out. I am done with my first semester, recently the university emailed me to pay the balance of my tuition fee (8000) or I will be reported to immigration. ( I am sure the finance dept. think I am in the UK already). My dilemma now is, payment of the balance of my tuition fee shouldn't be a problem. But I want to avoid a situation where if the AR is not approved I will not loose my money, and guarantee that the school will reissue me another CAS to reapply. Since I was not denied based on credibility but from an error from the embassy. Also the main aim of schooling in the UK is to qualify for the PGWP and for those who started study in January, 2021 I am told that we are expected to be in the UK by September. What happens if the AR delay hinders me from being in the UK before September? I also want to avoid a scenario where I will finish my study online from my home country and the embassy might not see the need to issue me visa.
So I emailed the school asking that they delay the payment until the outcome of the AR or I defer the admission and continue from 2nd semester in September ( There is a second semester batch in September for my course).
The school replied my mail telling me that I have 3 options:
1. Defer till next intake hoping that the AR would be out by then. What this means is new fess to be paid.
2. Withdraw- Stop studies and don't pay fees but the risk is that if UKVI contacts us, student no longer studying with us so automatic refusal.
3.Continue studying online and pay fees till decision is out and student can fly into the UK.
From my understanding of the mail, the university wants me to start all over again in the net intake and pay a new fee or continue studying online and take my chance with the AR. option two is not an option for me.
How do I go about this?
What will you do with the visa if you finally pay up and complete the course online from Nigeria?

Sorry but the whole idea of paying millions of naira to UK university while you stay in Nigeria using your own internet, light and everything to study online is just stupid.

My apologies but I can not get my head around this.

What is wrong with us?

I would advise that you go with option 3 from the school. Furthermore, you can also get a good lawyer in the UK to help follow up. It is obvious that the school is actually focused on the money.

.
I read people recommend getting UK lawyer here a lot but my question to you people are:

How much will the UK lawyer charge and how much is reapplication?

How long will the whole process take?

What will the outcome look like? Getting a visa with refund of application fees?

Please @justwise kindly share some insight on this ... will an affidavit be accepted or is there any other alternative??

In my case the DOB on my waec certificate is also wrong, I was given a conditional offer by “Sheffield Hallam University and was asked to provided evidence from WAEC to show the DOB is wrong, i tried to correct it on my certificate but WAEC said it’s no longer possible, so I settled for a letter of Attestation instead (with the correct DOB) and an affidavit which I’m about to send. - I believe the school will likely accept the letter of Attestation and Affidavit but like the original poster, I’m worried if they will accept the same when applying for visa....

I will really appreciate any insight - @justwise and every other distinguished contributors.
Go ahead and submit that to your school, until you do that you wouldn't know if they will accept it or not and if they do then you have to submit the same document during your visa application

Usually the deposit of this is at least 25%.... does a student have that capital inadditon to their school fees and living expenses... yes maybe but there there an issue on ILR and other factors that would make mortgage hard.

If the student is a cash buyer then yeah why not

How will that work? I have read people say that here recently
