Ilekokonit: TV detector vans are vans, which, according to the BBC, contain equipment that can detect the presence of television sets in use.[1] The vans are operated by contractors working for the BBC, to enforce the television licensing system in the UK, the Channel Islands and on the Isle of Man.

TV licence uses post code to have an idea who is paying or not, in their database they know post code that pays, if your post code and house/flat number is not there then they will start sending letter. |

somez : Anything legit, I will do trust me. I am not just an Armchair business man . I also paint and install wallpapers, panels and all. Before leaving I might learn tiling (maybe). I heard plumbers are paid very well abroad too. That is the most important thing, just come first, getting a job to survive will not be a problem. Yes plumbers do make a lot of money here, when i was renting my landlady takes care of any plumbing problem until i bought a house and within weeks i was faced with pipe issue in the toilet, i called a number i found online and i was told it will cost me £120 but the price will go up if they have to change any part. I was shocked, i decided to call a friend he connected me to a guy that did it for £70 and he spent only 30mins in my house. That money is as good as tax free |

gigi24: I have a bit of a problem that needs clarification.
So I made the last lodgement of my POF on the 8th of April to Zenith bank it however reflected on the 9th .
When printing my bank statement I printed from the 8th of April to the 6th of May.
Please note that no transaction reflected on the 8th of May the transaction I did on the 8th reflected on the 9th.
This is the bank statement I sent to school to issue my CAS.
I have already made my application.
Whilst discussing with a friend who is already in the UK sometime last week she told me the bank statement I submitted is 27days and not 28th day please guys from the above illustration given is this so?
I have had sleepless nights since then.
Because I sent same bank statement to school and they didn’t see any issues with it and issued me CAS.
@Justwise and everyone other guru please help look at this and let me know if what my friend said is true.
My heart is paining me because I tried to do even right to the best of my ability I even paid full tuition Have you done biometric? |

RalphJean: Charity contributions is NoT a substitute for criminality. Refusing to pay TV licence is criminal. If you do not wish to pay for what you don’t use, you do it by the book. You notify the agencies. They will not force you. They will issue you an exemption. If you wish, laminate the exemption and paste on your door. Whenever they knock, point it to them, then slam the door. That is what persons with class do. But slamming the door on their faces when one doesn’t have a valid exemption is not the solution, it is criminal.
Why am I labouring on this? Because you Justwise can not be insisting on following the letter of the law (on the student thread) while suggesting the opposite on this thread. That has a name: #DoubleStandards Give yourself a break and stop wasting your time with me on this. Again i'm not paying for what i don't use and can i also add that i will not be notifying any jack. You are classless if you believed that paying for what you don't use put you in any class. Stop using the word criminality because you don't know what that means Class my backside!! |

Poanan: Hello Justwise, please an you throw more light on this. My cousin plans on using her account for herself. The amount of cash in her account surpasses what is required. Are you saying she should transfer some money out of her account? The money in her account has been built overtime not like a huge deposit is coming in one day. No that was not what i meant. What i meant was that if you do it the wrong way it will give you the impression that you have enough while in reality you don't. So simply put £ first enter your school fees + maintenance money and you will get the naira value. Nothing wrong with having more than required amount. |

I doubt that sir!!! Understanding is your prob, that was not what i meant by that comment |

scobyy2007: I would appreciate it if you can speak to the comparison with the refusal letter and did you take the time to look at my concern. The good news is that if people follow this method..they are even safer because it will require them to have more naira in their bank accounts. for me... it's a win-win like the saying...the more the merrier!!!
I rest my case on this matter No it will give them false hope and a refusal. £=naira is the formula, You will have more money in your account by doing it the wrong way and it will likely lead to a refusal. |

Optimally: Boss, the way me understand the thing is that the conversion should be from pounds to Naira, because, you know your maintenance money+tuition balance=£mmtb, so it's for you to input the £mmtb in pounds field and it will automatically generated what you need in Naira, this is the accurate way I know, it can't be Naira to pounds, because you don't even know what you need in naira and that's why you're on that page to input what you know you need in pounds so that they can generate for you what you need in naira. I stand to be corrected though. N:B mm: Maintenance money TB: Tuition balance in my above comment This post explained it clearly and i hope people read and understand it. |

scobyy2007: Good morning all. The importance of this platform is to give free and well-researched views on matters of concern to the UK student prospects.
I had to do a thorough review on the issue of Oanda and how it been used by UKVI. Please below is my observation using a sample refusal letter, this gave me an insight;
Please see the attached.
I noticed the VO used the arrangement of Naira (up) = Pounds (down) to do the conversion as stated in the refusal letter. If you try to arrange the conversion the other way round by placing the Pounds up and Naira down you will not be on the same page with the UKVI.
I am open to a debate on this matter!!! Dude you are going to confuse people with this, put £ up, enter your fees + maintenance money figure it will tell you how much naira you need in your bank account to start counting 28days, simple! Someone explained this here even better than i did but you are stilling going on about it |

RalphJean: Only a criminally minded person will refuse to allow them. Why go through the trouble of troubling every house member, (including the kids, and grandma who only just came to the UK to holiday) with those kinds of instructions when you could simply pay £13 prr month, or LEGALLY apply for, and get an exemption? ademola0508: Baba why are you abusive. RalphJean: If they turn out to be licensing officers, I will let them in and offer them a cuppa. It’s one of three things:
1. I have up to date TV licence payment Or 2. I have a valid, and legal TV licence exemption Or 3. I am watching live TV without paying. Which is illegal.
Those are the only 3 ‘valid’ options.
Justwise: I will advice that you be consistent. Anytime someone on the student thread asks question, or suggests to want to cheat the system (albeit stylishly), you stick to the rules, and sometimes even clamp down on them. Which I think is the right thing to do.
But here you are, preaching door closing and refusing entry when you could use that energy to encourage members here to either pay the licence fee, or apply for an exemption.
#Consistency RalphJean? Just in case you have suddenly lost your ability to read and understand..can i just repeat this again that i do not pay for what i don't use. I do at least two charity contributions monthly willingly and that is my choice Now, if you want to allow anybody into your house just because you are not criminal minded then God bless you, go ahead but don't subscribe that to me. By the way who allows strangers into their houses even with an ID? Is that not instruction 101 we all grew up with? Give me a break! |

No, only an ignorant fool allows strangers into their house, someone knocked at your door and shows an ID card and you allowed them in? Nobody with a single brain cell allows strangers into their house, Talk to them at the door step and if they turns out to be tv licence officers close your door. |

claremont: I had this political view for many years until recently. Let's say you work in a regulated profession, you get married and have kids. TV licence man knocks on the door when you are away at work, your kid/wife mistakenly opens, invites him in, and in good British tradition, offers him a cup of tea. He leaves. You then get a letter in the post in a few weeks inviting you to court. The highly regulated career you have worked hard for years to get into gets ruined for avoiding £150 odd a year.
This analogy is what I considered and it informed my judgement to start paying. I have been enjoying watching these channels for years without paying it. Yes your analogy is a real possibility, again do not allow them in and that message should be passed down to any family member living with you. |

sgtponzihater1: Ideally you should pay TV license if watching any form of live TV. I don't find any problem paying for this. I watch BBC, ITV etc, and feel they do a great job I have problem with tv license and I don’t think one should pay it if you don’t watch BBC programs. BBC should go commercial to generate revenue just as other channels. I will not pay for something I don’t use, if I have a skybox and I pay my monthly subscription why should I also pay BBC because I watch sky programs? Do not allow them into your house simple ! Their warning letters means nothing, they end up in bin. |

Embassy have the right to confirm statement of account.
Infact, some banks will tell you upon printing that the statement is subject to confirmation both embassy and University. Obviously they have to protect their image and brand, no Nigerian bank has ever been blacklisted by the British embassy and that is because they corporate with the embassy |

scobyy2007: This is my concern!!! What you have is naira...what you want to prove is in GBP
when your statement is in Naira then you are converting from Naira to the equivalent value in GBP!!!
see the images below; did u notice that the same naira did not give the same value when I switched currency sides. so for the sake of safety I beg u go for Naira to GBP
I take God beg una...na small boi I be Ooooo but I understand the confusion of this issue on conversion.
According to Oanda (29 May 2021)
N11,000,000 = £18,711.8 (Safe to use this) but £18,711.8 = N10,892,100 You don't do that with student visa issue, its the other way around, the same way the embassy use that website. |
