Not trying to spread unnecessary fear I’m just expressing myself.

Does anyone else double-doubt this whole schooling thing ?

After calculating my proof of funds today, I just froze. Sixty million? but my mind still spiraled into all sorts of thoughts like:

What if it doesn’t go as planned? What if I make this huge sacrifice and it doesn’t work out?

It’s not that I’m giving up I’m just overwhelmed.

Has anyone else felt this way? How did you manage to calm yourself down and stay focused?
Do you have that amount in your bank account right now?

Not the gestapo style but the timing of the arrest.

VDM was already carried away and started playing "god" with his SM followership and platform.

Once he comes for you even without thorough investigation you are finished and once you are in his good books you are his followers toast.

Visits the social media pages of Nedu Wazobia, Reuben Abati (PhD), Abike Dabiri after he lashed out on them. Some are yet to fully recover.

Let him too see how sweet it feels to call people out.
So because he went after some people verbally and apparently some of them wrote a petition against him...he deserves the way they are treating him? Has Dee-one been arrested for all the insults and false allegations thrown against VDM?

VDM has not stollen from anyone, has not physically attacked anyone but have used his money to help the youth and communities more than ANY elected official anywhere in Nigeria.

They arrested him, locked up without charges or explanation regarding his offences.

The day VDM happens to you or you loved ones you have no moral right to complain.

Dear EFCC,

I like the way you have handled this VDM case.

I am not a lawyer, but belong to the 1% analytical, objective and logical few that sees the need for the arrest of this character irrespective of the agitation and social media uproar.

In the fullness of time majority of those criticizing the EFCC would fully grasp the essence and signal of VDMs ordeal.

Irrespective of it's politicisation we see a generational correction that has been enforced and signals that elders need to be respected and restraint needs to be applied in public utterances.

Weldone EFCC and God bless you.
You like the way they arrested him with guns and face cover? Beat, collect his phone and password? Locked him up for days without charge or clear official statements?

Do you also like the way they handled Yaya Bello case?

TravelRe: I Give You $1000 To Leave US-Trump Tells Illegals by justwise(mod): 4:09pm On May 06, 2025
Not a good offer if he really want them to leave
TravelI Give You $1000 To Leave US-Trump Tells Illegals by justwise(mod):
The US government is offering migrants who are in the country illegally a sum worth $1,000 (£751) and paid travel if they decide to leave the US.

"Self-deportation is the best, safest and most cost-effective way to leave the United States to avoid arrest," Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in Monday's announcement.

Those who take up the offer could one day be offered a legal pathway to return to the US, Trump told reporters the same day.

Since returning to office in January, the president has launched a major crackdown on illegal immigration - at times relying on controversial tactics such as the invocation of a centuries-old wartime law. Some moves have faced legal challenges.

Those who signed up for the "self-deportation" financial incentive would not be prioritised for detention by immigration officials, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a news release.

The DHS said a first "illegal alien" had already taken up the offer, receiving a ticket for a flight from Chicago to Honduras.

The scheme relies on migrants utilising the CBP Home app, which can be used to confirm that person's return to their home country, officials explained in their release.

They described the offer as a "dignified" route, adding that it would cut the cost of deportations for the DHS. The average cost to arrest, detain, and deport a migrant currently stood at more than $17,000, they said.

Trump himself said the question of whether any given migrant would one day be offered a legal route back to the US was one of national interest.

"We're going to work with them so that maybe someday, with a little work, they can come back in if they're good people, if they're the kind of people that we want in our [country]," he told reporters.

The plan has also faced criticism. Adriano Espaillat, a Dominican-American congressman for the Democratic Party, wrote on X: "We don't bribe people to leave. We build a country where everyone belongs."

The president and his allies have touted their track record on immigration after three months in office, highlighting the fact that illegal crossings have dropped.

Border Patrol data showed a record low of just over 7,000 arrests at the US-Mexico border during the month of March.

Trump has also used an increase in detentions inside the country by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to argue that his plan is working.

On the other hand, the administration has so far not managed to deport as many migrants as promised, and courts have blocked Trump's attempts to end birthright citizenship for certain children.

TravelThe UK To Restrict Visa Applications From Nigeria, Pakistan And Other Countries by justwise(mod): 10:44am On May 06, 2025
Visa applications from nationalities thought most likely to overstay and claim asylum in the UK could be restricted under a new government crackdown.

Under Home Office plans, first reported in the Times, external, people from countries such as Pakistan, Nigeria and Sri Lanka may find it more difficult to come to the UK to work and study.

Ministers believe there is a particular problem with those who come to the UK legally on work or study visas and then lodge a claim for asylum - which if granted, would allow them to stay in the country permanently.
A Home Office spokesperson said: "Our upcoming Immigration White Paper will set out a comprehensive plan to restore order to our broken immigration system."

What protests or shouts or anything have you done in respect of the country's issues?

Tally them up and list them against what the fellow in question has, and you might see why people are agitated about what happened to him.

I don't follow the guy at all and have a long list of reservations about what and how he does things, but I do know that his advocacy has been helpful for many people.
I follow him and i watch almost all his vidoes, yes some of the things he says and do is not my taste but considering his achievements within 2-3yrs of joining social medial.. i'm ready to overlook his other...side.
This guy fought for people with his money and legal team, paying many youths monthly to learn some skills, opening boreholes around the country, renovating schools, rescusing and returing young girls trafficked outside Nigeria..the list goes on. Why would i not support him?

I don’t understand how some people think in that country. What has GTB got to do with EFCC arresting someone illegally? Is GTB that stupid knowing how much damage it would do to them? Also, there is no protest or noise in unison about insecurity, none for the terrible economy, a Christian girl was murdered in the North sometime ago, there is no noise in unison but they can shout/protest when a hand touch someone with a name. It is just stupidity in my opinion.
Who is the only one speaking out against the killing going on in the country? VDM is not only speaking out he travelled to those villages last month to see the damage caused and give out money.

It doesn't matter how you treat them. It's third parties outside your home that will tell them what to do.

That's the sure route for right to remain in the UK for them

Best to get domestic work visa and keep it as such
t
I question any Nigerian here traveling home to get a house help, you are looking for cheap and cheerful house help to over worked and under paid, you will not treat her the same way you treat a house help from here.

The legal system will not just accept her allegation without an evidence. If she got nothing on you the worst she will do is run away to other part of the UK.

Exactly my thoughts.

How they said they treated her and how they treated her when other people were around to see very likely differed from how they treated her when there were no witnesses.

Not discounting that some people can just 'turn Judas', anyway, but I'm skeptical of anyone who imports a houseboy/girl (I think calling it a 'maid' relationship is dressing it up) in the first place.

You are not far from the truth, we all know how maids are treated in Nigeria, so when they bring one here...she is toast, i don't see any Nigerian couple here paying house maid brought from Nigeria minimum wage, given days off..let a lone allowed to enjoy the freedom like their kids.

The singular issue that makes this people bend, is how do I make my papers permanent? And to achieve this, they would cook all sort of lies........

My point is...whatever lies they cooked up has to be collaborated, the maid must have an evidence, is she getting paid and how much? Enrol in school? Allowed to go out with friends? The court will not take her 'lies' without verifiable evidence to back up her allegation

...for treating her almost better than they treated themselves and their kids.......? Or at some point they treated her the way they wouldn't treat their own kids?

Last trip earlier this year, none of the officers from the various agencies asked us for money. There are cameras everywhere in the places where you interact with them and they were scrupulous about not requesting anything - even indirectly. All our interactions were refreshingly professional.

Several officers were suspended last year and enforcement is much stricter now, per the announcements.

My experience is that where people often have to pay is because they're trying to do things that are against the rules e.g. parking, luggage issues, having more people than allowed accompany them into the terminal etc.
Totally with you on this, my last trip about 3yrs ago was a positive experience at the airport, they were so helpful without asking for a penny.

When i was coming back it was even better as an airport worker who helped me massively carrying my bags and stuff refused to accept the money i gave him because they are not allowed to do that...i pretty much begged him to accept it, he did but said he has to tell his boss.

I was impressed.

True... the wider conversation would be how African nations can generate funding for infrastructure inhouse by driving growth. Might seem a chicken and egg issue but definitely doable. In the interim, the terms of loans we seek should be improved on irrespective of origin

That is the key point there, loan condition is where the body is buried and have you noticed that most of these contracts are carried out by Chinese companies? Airport, rail , road contractions etc are done by Chinese companies.
