kofoshi: Re: the emboldened, did you mean to say 'appealing'? Okay, so she must be in gainful employment, then?

As per the mother, will my cousin standing as sponsor for future application be sufficient, then?

By the way, isn't my cousin allowed to sponsor her mother for this sole purpose of her attending her graduation? Yes she is a final year student but the funds in her account is sufficient to maintain her mother for three weeks at least. Can they reapply with the graduating student as sponsor?
Check the last paragraph of that refusal and see if she was given full right of appeal or limited one.
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by justwise(mod): 6:53pm On Jul 01, 2014
kofoshi: Okay, so going the appeal route will be futile.

I have advised my cousin to wait till she gains full time employment to re-invite them at which time she will be their sole sponsor and her sister in Nigeria would have marked on Youth service. How feasible do you think this is? What are the foreseeable obstacles in your opinion? How will this refusal impact on subsequent application for visit for both mother and sister?

What does she need to do now to prepare for a re-application say in December?
Was she given full or limited right of appeal?

There is no point reapplying if there is no significant change in her situation. relying on her mum or sister for sponsorship will not cut it, as an adult you are expected to stand on your own feet when it comes to visiting visa application.

kofoshi: Thanks for your reply. That part about her sister proving ties to Nigeria confuses me though. What other ways can a student show ties to Nigeria?
Getting a visa to the UK as a matured student is always difficult especially if you are not from a rich family or attending one of those expensive schools in Nigeria.

Students have limited material to use as tie-to-Nigeria, students can show their progress report, course timetable, school fees receipt, letter from the school, attendance sheet, school ID..etc
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by justwise(mod):
kofoshi: No she didn't submit her tax certificate as I doubt that her' sis a registered business. Her balance as I understand it was 60k and she is a pensioner who owns her own house and subscribed to shares in a number of companies.

More so shouldn't regard have bee given to the account of the UK child? She claims that her invitation letter detailed her responsibility for their welfare and accommodation during their stay.
kofoshi: For the sister:
You have state you are a student in Nigeria. I recognise that you have produced a letter from your university which I have reviewed as part of my decision. I note that the letter does not confirm your regular attendance. I am aware that the letter was produced at your request and solely for the purpose of this visa application. You have elected not to submit any satisfactory evidence to support your claim to study in Nigeria. Without sufficient documents supporting your studies, I am not satisfied that you are settled and established as a student to ensure your departure from the UK. I am not satisfied that you are genuinely seeking entry to the UK as a visitor for a period not exceeding six months.
.you state that your mother will fund your travel and stay and I recognise that you have submitted two bank statements I. Her name. However I note that the balance of the funds across the two accts total 60,000.42. I am not satisfied that these funds are sufficient to support both yourself and your sponsor for a two week period. I note that you have submitted no other evidence that your mother will have access to further funds.
Given the concerns raised, I am not satisfied that you are genuinely seeking entry as a visitor or that you intend to leave the UK at the end of the period of visit. I am therefore not satisfied that you meet the requirements of para 41(I) and (II) of the uk immi rules hc395. Or that you will be maintained and accommodated in the UK without working or having recourse to public funds or able to meet the cost of return or onward journey as required by para 41...
Therefore I am not satisfied that you are seeking a genuine visit or that you intend to leave the UK at the end of your visit.
She can't afford the trip and does not have any strong tie-to-Nigeria. Even if she has a sister in the UK with all the money to sponsor her she still need to show that strong tie-to-Nigeria as an adult.

kofoshi: Mind you my cousin claims she had sent six months bank statements and tenancy agreement to support their application.
How much was in the bank statement she submitted? Did she submit her tax certificate as a business owner?

kofoshi: Mind you my cousin claims she had sent six months bank statements and tenancy agreement to support their application.
Is that all the reasons? It doesn't seem to be complete. How about ECO's doubt about her sister's school? Refusal letters always have concluding part...let me know if this is all you have....
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by justwise(mod): 3:08pm On Jul 01, 2014
kofoshi: Hello Justwise,

I trust you are well.

Please assist me with this query.

My cousin' smother and sister's visa application to attend her graduation ceremony has just been refused and she is beside herself with sadness. The refusal was based on the financial status of the mother and that the ECO was not satisfied of the sister's educational status(she had submitted her school I'd card and letter from school verifying her registration at that said university. In addition, she(the sister in Nigeria) recently graduated).

My question, I supposeis: how would you advise them? The graduating sister in the UK is unemployed for now and has about £5k in her account. Is she allowed to be a sponsor? She also has adequate accommodation. How should they proceed now? Appeal? Mind you, she graduates at the end of July.

Thanking you in advance for your response.
Will you be able to write down ECO's refusal reasons word-word here? If possible remove all personal details and paste the refusal letter here

sashacoleman: That's the problem, I can't edit. I cant make changes, nothing! Please help o
I'm not sure you are doing the right thing because you should be able to edit your form.

Look for help-link in that application page and see how you can edit your info, people here have done it in the past sadly all that info is gone now.

I'm sure that somebody who has used the form recently will tell you exactly where to find edit button or how to go about it

sashacoleman: I haven't applied yet.
Then you got no problem, application is done online these days and you can edit whatever mistake you have made.

kayeee4321: hi thanks for helping me out,
i have a 5yr old daughter to come home to and just acquired 1hectare of land sincey dad past away, and also have fixed investment of £1000.00since 2011..but ive headd ECOs dont care about fixed accounts, they only matter the readily available cash..but i can put in on the space provided on the applicatiom, once approved i can transfer the money toy savings account so it can be readily available?? you think that will work? sad
Add your daughter's birth certificate, pictures with you, you fixed deposit evidence(since they will be paying for the trip) These things will act as your tie-to-Nigeria

djbaju: I actually need a guide that why I placed his issue first maybe from there I could get a way to guide myself on my application process mainly on the Fees needed for the whole trip, cos my month pay is 150k per month, it is just 50,000 over his own salary, I av seen some post too I wanted to know if I have a closing balance of 1,million upon submission and I intend to stay in d uk for just 2wks how much do you think I used for my up keep for the 2 wk at minimum, from what I av been seeing on the forum, I feel maybe 400-500GBP will do and i will state I have 450,000 for the whole trip
You want to ask question about your case but you asked for your friend even when those two cases are not related? This is why i don't reply to people who come here to ask on behalf of a 'friend'. Why not be straight forward? Any way good luck.

kayeee4321: i also have a follow up question of you dont mind wink

the questions:
"what money is available to you for your trip"
and
"what is the cost to you personally pf your stay in the UK?"

>> does mean the same? i mean should i put in the same answers? or does the first question pertains to my pocket money? and the 2nd question is for the entire trip?

and there's another question:
"if someone other than yourself is payinh for all or any part of this visit, how much money will they give you?">> since invited me,my bf and his dad will shoulder all of it,i will only carry pocket money for myself..should the answer to this also the same for the cost of my entire trip for 2weeks?

sorry questions are kinda tricky for me i need help cry
What money is available to you for your trip?= that question is referring to currency.

What is the cost to you personally pf your stay in the UK? = What will the trip cost you in total.

State that your bf and his daddy will be paying for everything.

kayeee4321: @justwise

thank you for your immediate response, ive been employed with my current work for almost 5yrs,i get paid around £390 per month less bills and other expenses i can save upto £100 per month..i hope i can save upto £650 by the time i submit the application

i will send in my 2 IVs fry bf and his dad, their payslips, bank statements, electric bills etc..do you think £650 is enough eventhough theyre going to provide for all my expenses? sad
Since they will be providing everything then £650 is not bad, your job and salary will only act as your tie-Nigeria
Please I am in grave need of 'A student letter of introduction' to an embassy , please anyone has a copy of it? (original copy from a Nigerian institution)to be honest i need it as template to draft mine( you should understand. Please I will be more than grateful if someone can help as just this letter has been the one thing that has held me back so far for months now.
N.B
And I know most might think/advice I go get it from my school; If I could get I wouldn't be here soliciting.Thank you all who have contributed to nairaland in one way or the other it shows that no matter where or whom we re, Nigerians are still "ONE".Let's all keep it up.
You know very well that its wrong, invitation letter should always come from school authority, you can't legally invite yourself.

Its forgery and could earn you a long ban from the embassy.
