skimmeh1: wow! Thank God Nairaland is revived. I felt like a dead man living as the addiction being too much..anyway, you are all welcome back and I hope it gets the more better this time around. Well, i do hope y'all can remember my story in that i initially planned to apply with wife for u.s visa for childbirth and..along line, wife lost interest despite we got visa appointment scheduled and i had to respect her mind. Then i appeared alone on mon,23rd with change of purpose of visit to tourism but unfortunately was denied..and i still dnt knw why the v.o deem me ineligible. I was interviewd by the lady at window 1 at the lagos consulate..here is the excerpt:
V.o : good mornin
Me: morning ma'am
V.o: why do u wana go to u.s?
Me: for vacation, and to experience the beauty and splendor of the empire state(new york)and sightseeing important landmarks
V.o: are you married?
Me: i answerd yes.
V.o: got kids?
Me: told her am expectant.
V.o:what do u do?

Me: am self employed
V.o:what is ur biz all about?
Me: i explained
V.o: how much earning i make monthly frm the biz?
Me: i told

V.o: how many staffs are unda your employment?
Me: i told
V.o:do u have any relative in the u.s?
Me: yes
V.o: whats ur relationship wit the person?
Me: we are cousins
V.o: when last did u guys see each other?
Me:told her abt 3yrz ago . Then she said sory, you av nt been found eligible for the visa at this time and she gave d blue paper
You need to think about the section in bold, do you earn enough to afford visiting US, look after your wife and the unborn baby and still run your business comfortably? Do you have staff you need to pay salary? Those are more important than leisure trip to US.

divaly: It's a holiday o. Two weeks at most or less sef.

Help and advice needed please. I intend to travel to UK Nxt month or early august at least. I work wit d federal government as a paramilitary officer with 70k salary. But my dad is the one sponsoring the trip and in his personal account he has like #7m+ and company account over #1m+
But my salary account is very low, like 30k or so, as at today sha.
I ave traveled and worked in South Africa before but left to start my current job here. I av a marriage certificate and all that wit my husband in South Africa but I don't want to include tat information unless its absolutely necessary because we are no longer together.
What do I need to get or do?
I ave:
Appointment/acceptance letters
Tax clearance not ready but I av my TIN card
Annual leave letter
6 months pay slip
ID card
Letter of sponsorship from my dad
His personal and company bank statement
HIs CAC certificate
His tax clearance certificate
Hotel booking
My salary acct bnk statement
Pictures in uniform wit colleagues/fam Pictures
My passports(old and new; d old has d southie stamp and visa permit and all that)
...oh and I av a land don't know if I should include d info.
Wat else do I need? Thanks.
Include your land's documents.

Your salary may count against you, 70K is about £240.724, with that salary you can't really afford to travel to a place like the UK.

Your daddy sponsoring you may not account much because your tie-Nigeria is not strong enough, your tie-Nigeria lies pretty much on your ability to sponsor the trip without relying on your daddy.

I will not discourage you from applying, give it a go and good luck.

jidecole23: good day.

To the gurus in the house, am having some issues with the exchange rate. on oanda 1 naira to pounds is 280 and 265 pounds to 1 naira(buying and selling difference). my question is can I use the 265 rate instead of the 280 rate because at 280 d money in my account(2,050,000) would not be up to 7830 pounds.

please I need advice on this. Thanks
When did you deposit the money and what was the exchange rate that day?

gaskinachi: I saw on the student thread where u said someone shud submit her dads statement wit hers ...so I'm saying if clients transferred money to me whichc mostly has been my most convenient means of getting paid ..I can't possibly ask them to give me their statement as proof of where funds came from so wat is my option in a case like dis.
Student visa and visiting visa requirements are not the same, are you a business man?

As regards source of funds For a business man who can't tell his clients to bring their statement to prove himself ...business purchase receipts shud work fine right as a source ...like for a builder things like receipts of tiles ,iron, cement blocks and plumbing materials ...good Enuff?
I don't understand that bit, can you explain?

Olola15: Personal bank or building society statements covering a consecutive 28 day
period ending no more than 31 days before the date of your application. Your personal
bank or building society statements must show:
• your name or your parents(s)/legal guardians name; and
• the account number; and
• the date of the statement; and
• the financial institution’s name and logo; and
• the amount of money available.

Baba Justy, can I use the bank statement I generated online that has all the above on it.
Loriante: You can..Only if you can get them stamped and signed by the bank itself. (Credits go for Justwise)
^^^ that answers your question.
Travel › Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part2 by justwise(mod): 6:51pm On Jun 27, 2014
Loriante: Thanks for your answer Justwise. I guess by providing evidence as per each deposit, you mean that I should have attached deposit forms from my bank which tie in with my bank statement. You are absolutely right. But generally, what if I deposit them myself. (I have done so with some deposits). How can I ever prove my personal savings if I do accrue my income and deposit them as one lump every now and then. Thanks Justwise.

Do you think they would consider my abiding by the law in not overstaying my visa, either when I was on a tier 4 student or when I had traveled to Turkey two years ago?
The most important thing here is to proof where the money came from, saying that friends gave you is not good enough evidence, if its transferred into your account by your father or he withdrew it and pay into your bank account then you can submit your daddy's bank statement and point out that at a specific date he withdrew that amount and pay into your account.

Since you don't work but have that amount of money in your account, you really need to justify where the money came from with paper evidence.

Loriante: Happy to have come back again with my inquiries, boiling down to my attempts to convince ECO that I am returning to my home country after my visit. I should thank first Justwise and others who truly helped me getting my Tier 4 student visa about 2 years ago.

I am attending my graduation this July, having submitted what seemed to me enough documents together with my father's documents. I was awarded my degree only in June (being a writing up a student till May), claiming my graduation letter on the 20th. So I am unemployed.

These are the documents I have submitted:

1-Bank statement covering 6 months period with sufficient funds to pay for the whole journey.
2-Graduation letter sent me electronically by the student life desk.
3- Proof of purchasing a property in installments with an article stating my payments to be in effect since 2011.
4-My parents's marriage certificate as an indicator of my ties back home.
5-Itinerary and return flight tickets indicating a trip of only 10 days.

My concerns: I have concerns about my bank statement deposits being untraceable. I have declared in my online application that I get approximately 400 GBP pounds per month from family and friends. But my bank statement presents large lumps of money being deposited regularly since January due to my father helping me saving for my phd. He does so temporarily (never on regular basis) in addition to my depositing personal savings from my previous job whose payment history belongs to a totally different bank account.

If you can't prove where the money came from with document as an evidence then its not a good thing for your application

paradisewoods: Paying the increment isnt the main issue. Let them give me back my 6100 pounds so that I can invest with it and be able to pay the increment. They want to eat their cake and have it. they want to keep the 6100pounds and still expect me to pay increment. afterall they were the ones that agree that since the maximum I could transfer is 6100 I should transfer it and balance 50pounds later. How much is 50pounds that I would be made to pay 600pounds increment. I could have paid all but the bank cant transfer more than 6100 at a time. I believe its unfair. please justwise and donoms and others. I need your advice.
You don't have many options on the table in this case, its either you pay the remaining £600 or ask for the whole money back....meaning cancelling your admission....though administrative fees will be removed from the money you paid.

Sadly not paying that remaining £50 means that any further increment affects u.

paradisewoods: University of sunderland . the total fee is 9650pounds. I Initially paid 3500pounds deposit for CAS. After being refused visa, the school told me that I should pay the balance and defer till March 2014. When i got to the bank , the maximum i could transfer was 6100pounds , I contacted the school and they agreed I could pay the 50pounds balance when I resumed March. later that week I got an email that my course would no longer be available for March2014 cos they dont have enough candidates and that I should defer till September 2014. Now they are trying to force me to defer till spetember 2014 and pay and incremental fee of 10250pounds (600pounds difeerence). They even asked their nigerian agent bcie to be disturbing me. my total money with them is 9600 pounds since October 2013.
Oh right!! So you still got £50 to pay? If that is the case then the increment affects you.

paradisewoods: Good evening every one please I want to ask a question. Last year I was denied visa and after contacting the school , they asked me to pay the balance of my school fees and defer my admission to september 2014. I paid the balance 9650pounds and deferred. Now I got a message from the school that the fee for this year has increased and I would be affected too. please what do I do ? I think its unfair from the increment to affect me after leaving over 2 million with for what will be 1 year. Please what should i do ? can I ask for the balance back , do some business with it that would yield profit and pay when its approaching september? thank u
Don't pay penny more, the new fees should not affect you because you paid all the fees and deferred your admission as agreed. Its fraudulent to ask you to pay more.

If they refuses then ask for refund.

Which university is that anyway?
