Politics / Re: PDP, NURTW In Free For All Fight In Ibadan by JW214: 12:11pm On Oct 28, 2012
My understanding of this story, it was a clash between the PDP supporters(Thugs) and NURTW(ACN thugs)

Shortly after the incident, the caretaker chairman of the NURTW led his boys to the Agodi government house where Ajimobi counselled them against taking laws into their hands.....

Prior to the swearing of this new govt in Oyo state and appointment of the caretaker chairman, NURTW was a functional organ of Oyo state PDP

Politics / 4 Ondo ACN Leaders Arrested For Absconding With Party Funds by JW214: 11:32am On Oct 25, 2012
AKURE — FOUR leaders of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in Ondo State have been arrested and detained at the Criminal Investigation Department, CID, Akure, for allegedly absconding with the money meant for governorship election of the party in the state.

Sources within the party said the suspects after collecting the money running into millions of naira fled.

Deputy Director-General of ACN campaign team in Ondo South Senatorial District Mr. Femi Johnson said this in Akure.

The suspects included a former Special Assistant to a Minister, a legal practitioner in Ilaje Local Government, one local government party chairman in the southern senatorial district and a chieftain of the party in the area.

Mr. Johnson, who however, declined to disclose the specific amount the suspects absconded with, said the leadership of the party would recover the stolen money from them.

He pointed out that the money was meant for the election in the southern senatorial district and was directly handed over to the suspects for distribution until they bolted away with it.

He however denied that he was arrested alongside the suspects, adding that the money released through him six weeks to the election, was disbursed appropriately to the accused

Politics / Re: Mimiko Wins Ondo Gubernatorial Poll by JW214: 6:15pm On Oct 21, 2012
BetaThings:

I saw only part of the 2nd debate. I saw only the last 3 questions. I had never seen the 3 before then. Akeredolu impressed me. He asked why Sunshine Stars play their matches in Ijebu Ode? He pointed out that Akure does not need a massive stadium and said that Liberty stadium is functional without being very big
He was asked about IT, I liked his answers too
Mimiko has won but I am not sure it is the best for the people

So Fayemi is making noise? Really.

I stand to be corrected if I am wrong sir, and as earlier stated, this is my opinion, it may be wrong.

Fayemi and other ACN governors in SW are noise makers.I may be quick to judge them all by now, I am waiting for the end of their 3rd year in office because the 4th will be used to prepare for 2nd term.

I was among a team who did an independent Perimeter boundary survey of Ekiti state with Kwara, Osun, Kogi and Ondo states some years ago and years after, I still visit Ekiti regularly, what I read in the dailies(the nation esp) is different from what I see on ground. In April, a fixed transformer around Poly Ado campus along Ilawe road (close to state ACN chairman's house) was delayed from being used because the governor has to commission it later in May as part of his achievement. I was like for God's sake, a transformer?

Sir, I may be wrong, all of them including Mimiko is guity of this, Media hype!
Politics / Re: Mimiko Wins Ondo Gubernatorial Poll by JW214: 5:34pm On Oct 21, 2012
Reasons why I think Aketi of ACN lost

1) His Selection: before he made his intention known publicly as per contesting the guber seat in Ondo State, some guys like Dr Olu Agunloye(a former LP chieftain), Saka Lawal, etc have declared and have been working underground with the hope of getting the ticket before the godfather's annointing dropped on Aketi(the chosen as his campaign board reads), the duo mentioned earlier had to leave ACN for LP and PDP respectively with so many others and their supporters.

2) He is not a grass root politican and not so known even to his people. Prior to this election despite the fact that he was once a state commissioner in Ondo, people don't know him

3) Debate: some of us will agree that he didn't do well during the 1st and 2nd Governorship debate held some weeks before the election, I remember NLers were asking if he was truly a former Chairman of NBA, he doesn't possess the carriage to prove to his people he was not going to be a puppet to his godfather, while his friend in the same proffesion Olusola Oke was sound and factual with the way he responded to questions during the debate, some NLer gave it to Olusola Oke being the winner of that debate that day and Mimiko placed 2nd.

4) Winning Mandate: Ondo North which happened to be Aketi's Senetorial zone had too many candidates and strong politicans fighting to deliver their ward to their respective party.

Ondo North comprises majorly the Akokos and the Owos. Aketi is from Owo and chief Oluwole Fasawe(a strong PDP man) is from same town with him. Saka Lawal, former ACN gov. Aspirant and later PDP deputy gov. Candidate is from Akoko, Dr Olu Agunloye, former ACN Gov Aspirant, now a LP chieftain is from Akoko, the LP dep gov candidate Alh Ali Olanusi is from Akoko as well, these all contributed to why ACN couldn't win the North,as against other senetorial zones like central(just mimiko and Akintelure ACN's dep Gov. Candidate and South, just chief Olusola Oke). There were many power contender from the same zone(ondo north) who had mandate to deliver their ward and if possible their Senetorial disctrict to their respective party.

5) Tinubu & ACN factor: for those who have taken a careful study of ACN Gov's activities in SW, apart from Fasola, others are just noise makers. Ekiti is still in the position and state where Fayose left it(if not worse), this is enough to discourage the people of Ondo to think of ACN compared to the so called cosmetic project(as ACN people used to call it) Mimiko lay claims to as his achievement in the last 3 and half years. Before I forget, all these Govs were imposed on the party members and states too like Aketi and at the end of the day, some of them are performing below expectation, esp Ekiti governor.

6) Road block: from my little information gathering, all roads entering Ondo state were blocked throughout the election hours, some of the machineries they(no particular party is being mentioned here) intend to import from some neigbouring states to be used for the election weren't able to enter the state, thus, they couldn't deliver

Am sure there are some other reasons, feel free to share it, let's learn from this election in Ondo state. Please note this is just what I feel, not a reflection of any candidate's mind, I may be wrong in all or some part, it is just what I feel.

Ondo people has made their choice,it was an election, not like the days of OBJ and PDP where results are being announced from INEC office in Abuja when party agents were waiting in front of state INEC's office to get final result.

I pray Dr Olusegun Mimiko will be able to improve his governance and implement projects that are masses oriented, he should extend his work to other towns in Ondo state, Akure is beautiful, what about Igbara-Oke(Ifedore LG) my place of origin? We all want to have a feel of your good governance.

God bless Ondo State

ACN HAS LOST IT ALL. I SAID IN MY EARLIER COMMENT THAT THE OLD FASHION AWOIST POLITICS IS NO MORE RELEVANT. (IN THE OLDEN DAYS THEY WILL ASK US TO LOOK UP AND SEE AWO IN THE MOON)
UNLESS TINUBU LEAVE ALL THE ACN GOVERNORS ALONE TO BE CLOSER TO THE GRASSROOTS AND STOP MONOPOLIZING EVERYTHING.
ACN WILL CONTINUE TO LOOSE IN SOUTH WEST ONE BY ONE.
THE SOUTH WESTERNERS ARE TOO SOPHISTICATED FOR ANY POLITICIAN OR TINUBU TO POCKET.
TINUBU MONOPOLY IS RUNING ACN DOWN.
OSUN PEOPLE ARE READY TO BOOT OUT AREGBE NO MATTER WHAT IF HE CONTINUE THE WAY HE GOVERN.
TRULY HE IS WORKING BUT ITS DOESNT REFLET IN THE GRASSROOT.
. ONLY THE LAGOSIANS ARE ENJOYING . I LEARNT THAT THE MEANING OF OMOLUABI IN LAGOS LANGUAGE IS MUNGUN.
OSUN STATE ARE NOW CALLED STATE OF MUNGUN IN LAGOS.
WE SHALL SEE. WE WILL DEFINETELY PROOF TO AREGBE THAT WE ARE NOT MUNGUN.

IMAGINE AREGBE CANNOT FIND ANY QUALIFY JUDGE IN OSUN AND WENT AHEAD TO PICK CJ OF OSUN FROM LAGOS. ALTHOUGH THE JUDICIARY HAS REJECTED HIS NOMINATION. WHAT A DISGRACE TO HIS GOVT.

From now henceforth, I won't be readin "The Nation newspaper" again, they are so misleading.

Everytime I see news of a LP chieftain and 2000 supporters decamping to ACN I thought it was real, with the rate decampee entered ACN from LP and PDP, I didn't expect LP to even win up to 2 LGA let alone have a lead, "The Nation Newspaper" news is so misleading, if truly 100,000 LP supporters decamped as claimed, who were the people that voted LP? Which of the ACN did they decamp to? ACN of State of Osun or Lagos?

Then the crowd at their redemption rallies, I can now conclude were rented and paid crowd from the neigbouring state, if not, why were they not on field to cast their votes to save this sinking ship of ACN.

Lesson of my story, read news from at least 2 sources when such news is political before making your conclusion.

God bless the people of Ondo State

Over 10,000 youths apply for jobs

Less than three weeks after Ondo State Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) governorship candidate Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN) promised to create 30,000 jobs in his first 100 days in office, over 10,000 youths have submitted their curriculum vitae (CVs) in various wards.
It was learnt that most of the applicants are from Akure, Ondo, Okitipupa, Owo, Ikare and other major towns.
During his campaign tour of wards in Akoko Southwest, Akeredolu said Ondo State has the capacity to create such jobs for youths because its economy is bigger than those of Osun, Oyo and Ekiti put together.
He promised to use the state’s resources prudently to uplift the residents.
The frontline lawyer urged youths to continue to submit their CVs at the wards or local government offices of the party nearest to them for transmission to his office in Akure, the state capital.
Akeredolu urged the residents not to sell their voters’ cards.
In a statement by his Director of Media, Publicity and Strategy, Mr Idowu Ajanaku, the ACN candidate promised not to disappoint the people.

House nullifies suspension of varsity licences by NUC

The House committee on Public Petitions has declared the suspension of the operational licence of Lead City University and others by the National Universities Commission (NUC) as null and void, ultra vires and of no effect.

Presenting its recommendations, Chairman of the Committee, Representative Uzo Azubuike, mandated the NUC not to take further steps that will in any manner interrupt the normal academic programmes and activities of the accredited courses of Lead City University and the others.

The report also mandated the commission to carry out a forensic audit on the affected universities and advice the government as required by Law.

The National University Commission (NUC) had claimed that the seven suspended private institutions will continue operations, but have been banned from admitting new students.

The deputy executive secretary of the commission, Mr Akinbode Agbaoye made the clarification in reaction to a petition filed by Lead City University at the hearing called by House of Representatives on Wednesday.

I see Nigerians enjoying good unlimited internet when these following conditions are met:

Have uninterupted power supply, so that the ISPs will cut cost of powering their equipment with generators.

Have a good ICT(socio-Economic)policy network that will enable a free market

When consumers are ready and willing to pay for data used, not cutting corners and looking for free internet....

The list continues....
