Toju200: thank you.i know of The $1bn plan the Navy met national assembly for. I don't know if it's finalized yet... So for me I won't take it too yet It is from the $1.3 billion plan for security for the Nigerian navy. It was supposed to be an extra-budgetry acquisition for the Nigerian navy. The fact remains that @fieldmarshall06 provided his source, and for this he is right. |

Epenal Gunboats are the most widely used surface craft in service with the Nigerian navy. The navy currently has an estimated 500+ units in service.

marvin906: isn't this similar with the Algeria Navy own.. that can carry just helicopters.. Yes, similar, but the Type 075 is 97 meters longer than the Algerian navy ship. The Type 075 and Egypt's mistral LHD are in the same class. Even the Mistral carries far less equipment than the Type 075. |

PLAN Type 075 LHD
Would we ever see an LHD in Nigerian navy service?
Obviously not possible except our economy grows to a minimum 2 trillion dollars in value & defence budget goes to 47 billion dollars, but it would be nice to see ships like this in our navy, locally built of course.

iblawi: This is really bad and not expected from you.
Both side have their claims which makes it interesting but they argue from different angles.
A 2003 corolla is better that a 1980 Camry when it comes to technology. It might even be bigger than the Camry in size but that doesn't make the Camry less than a corolla.
Aradu is old just as the technology is old. Refitting Aradu with recent tech cost almost twice the price of new Meko200.
A recent corolla will have a lot of features that the a 1980 Camry doesn't have.
To be sincere it might be better in everything because of the improvements in technology over time. and for this reason the other guys too have a point. So Aradu can't do what the meko200 will do because it will carry better sensors, sonar, radar, weapons generally even the helicopter.
This is what the original argument was about and they both have points. Infact, the original argument which was very educative to see the arguments of both sides was that Aradu is or could be considered to be a Destroyer more than a Frigate. It was not about which is more modern than the other. Looking at the definition of a Destroyer, what capabilities does the Aradu bring in, Dragon2 was arguing that based on the Aradu's full spectrum capability, one could argue that during her hay days, she was a Destroyer. Also remember that the Nigerian navy had 2 or 3 ASW dedicated lynx helicopters also embarked on the Aradu. It was interesting to read the arguments of both sides. In my opinion I don't think the Aradu is a Destroyer, but you can see that while the US navy classifies the WASP which carries up to 24 units of 5th Generation fighter jets as an LHD, the Queen Elizabeth which carries practically the same complement of F-35s is classified as an Aircraft carrier. So, there is an important, educative argument to be had. Just like with the Aradu Destroyer argument. |

One of the reasons I don't like to post in this thread is because of ignorant people and their gang up/bring him down mentality.
...Because you don't agree with a thread contributor's opinion doesn't give you the right to insult that person.
State your opinion and leave it at that. Don't go insulting others. |

are you happy now? The utter stupidity of this comment, and the effrontery for you of all people, a known dullard, to insult others beggers belief. You have never had an individual thought, you don't research, all you do is copy and paste in that fraud of a blog you claim to run. Don't insult people, everyone has the right to air a differing opinion, it allows for an intellectual refreshing debate. Of course you don't know this, since all you do is copy & paste. |

JF17Thunder: As sanctions were expected, Turkey has been building their own engine to be fitted with the T-129s for Pakistan. How does Turkey, a major components importer suddenly have the know-how to build helicopter engines? The T-129 for Pakistan is frozen, until the US can lift sanctions imposed on Turkey. Again I don't see this happening soon. |

Despite enough evidence to the contrary, this private security boat is SDB3. I mean, this willful act to lie and propagate falsehood on twitter to thousands of followers is a national security risk. He needs to desist from that act. Bidexiii even copied that game list from his twitter page and posted it on the other thread. It's embarrassing.
